i've an orange pi one and i'm running armbian stretch (mainline) on it after issuing shutdown -h now as root, the green status indicator light goes off. but i noted that the ethernet leds remain on i leave the board powered on after shutdown but since i've already issued shutdown, i assumed that the cpu has stopped while i go on to work on my pc. some minutes later, i accidentally touch parts of the board and it is extremely hot, every part of the board i'd say it is probably well higher than 100 deg C, possibly a fire hazard do be careful about this as i think the behavior after shutdown is different from ubuntu xenial. for ubuntu x…

Could board's port be damaged? I tired usb port with usb ethernet, it lists as: I'm using arbmian Ubuntu 18.04 with beta packages. Thanks

Wanted to share my very positive experience upgrading to the latest kernel. Followed the procedure using armbian-config and it worked out of the box on my OrangePi PC2. Left the system overnight running my standard tests and no issues. Even the problematic rtl8192 has no issue. There used to be a slight judder on the HDMI attached monitor that is gone now, perhaps due to the new MALI450 gpu modules. ___ ____ _ ____ ____ ____ / _ \| _ \(_) | _ \ / ___|___ \ | | | | |_) | | | |_) | | __) | | |_| | __/| | | __/| |___ / __/ \___/|_| |_| |_| \____|_____| W…

I am using a system I built from the trunk of Armbian for the pine64so. After booting up the mouse does not do "smooth mouse tracking". The movement of the mouse lags behind where it should be and has to "catch up" which takes several seconds. I consider it unusable doing this. This is Version "20.04.1 LTS (Focal Fossa)" Armbian 20.08.0-trunk Focal 5.7.17-sunxi64 #trunk Mon Aug 24 03:00:31 PDT 2020 aarch64

Hello everyone! I am designing a PCB and I need to know if there is a possibility to swap SPI0_CLK and SPI0_CS by changing this line from: pins = "PC0", "PC1", "PC2", "PC3"; to pins = "PC0", "PC1", "PC3", "PC2"; Currently I don't have a board to check it myself. Any ideas if this would even work? Thanks!

Hello, I liked to have fixed MAC address to my Orange Pi lite. At the moment, after every boot I have different one. First of all, is there "real" MAC for this board? If there is, how the see it? Then what would be correct way to set static MAC, U-boot/Scribt.bin/ifconfig...? I am running Armbian 5.14 Jessie server.

Help please! I have a bp2 which was bought almost a year ago, and use Armbian_5.14_Bananapi_Debian_jessie_3.4.112.raw as the image for couple of months. Today, I'm try to upgrade to the Armbian_5.14_Bananapi_Ubuntu_xenial_4.6.2.raw image, but the pi can't boot at all. What I do to prepare the sdcard with the following procedure: 1. remote the old partitation, and create a new fat32 partitation 2. dd bs=1M if=Armbian_5.14_Bananapi_Ubuntu_xenial_4.6.2.raw of=/dev/sdc; and sync 3. mark the written partitation as bootable with fdisk ps: I'm using fish shell, and the syntax for the dd command is valid So, what's wrong with my steps? First i have to say - if i knew what i am gonna go through, i would never buy this troubled hardware. So don't buy it too. But if you are already strayed like me, i decided to share my modifications, to make this inconsiderate piece of hardware useful. With this mods the device finally work as i need it to and i am fully happy with hardware part. Not so happy with software though, but that's another story. The main reason for me, to buy this router, except pc like capabilities, was SATA+SATA power connector. I used my old router with usb HDD, so it sounded good to have it in box and on native sata interface. Silly me, who would thought this will be the most troubled …

I'd like to install the latest Armbian for Orange Pi PC, but want to remove GUI / desktop packages and use CLI only. I can't find any docs on how to create a tailored distro without GUI (and associated) packages. So I guess an alternative is to install a standard legacy distro, then trim out the GUI (and likely other) packages as desired. Any suggestions or documentation? Thx.

I'm testing different firmware versions for OrangePi 3 LTS a bit and I have to mention that version: Armbian_community_24.11.0-trunk.202_Orangepi3-lts_noble_current_6.6.44_gnome-kisak_desktop.img It has a flaw that can cause some trouble for beginners, i.e. after installing, the system automatically goes to the suspend option after 15 minutes 🙂 Disabling the suspend option completely helps, but it then prevents you from using the suspend option by clicking the button on the board 🙂 This is probably an error related to both battery and mains power supply. https://discussion.fedoraproject.org/t/gnome-suspends-after-15-minutes-of-user-inactivity-even-on-…

Hi Forum, My CT with "Armbian_5.14_Cubietruck_Debian_jessie_4.6.2" image fails to complete apt-get upgrade and dist-upgrade. I haven't installed or removed any package, simply used the original image as it is. It starts the process, gets the packages, unpacks, starts setting them up and hangs at compiling the new headers. I left it working a full night but found with doing nothing. No cpu or disk activity was seen. Has anyone seen this before? Any idea? Thanks, T

Hi all I need a bit of assistance in installing OpenMediaVault on the Cubietruck. I'll admit I tried this a while back, so I'm coming back to this to try and use my Cubietruck as a mini NAS. Tried to install using the instructions over at the debian site, but after the install, the web interface showed lots of errors and it wouldn't work. Done lots of googling to try and find further information but I'll admit I'm a bit vexed. Does anyone have some idiot-proof instructions or a prebuilt image they could provide to a bit of a linux newby? thanks in advance -matt

I would like to remove wifi from my Zero... dont need it. The device will not be used network connected. It will serve as an OTG usb dongle only. How to remove or reinstall all wifi related components? I am trying to use fbtft on the Orange Pi Zero, seems broken. Looks like an issue with the SPI driver itself. My skills are not enough to debug this. I have read through the forum that Banana Pi Pro does not support directly powering drive over USB as it might be too much for this board. In my setup I use 2 A power adapter for my Banana Pi and an active HUB with power supply of 1 A, but with limit of 500 mA for HDD. Still, when connecting HUB to Banana Pi and HDD to HUB the same issue appears as when no HUB is used - the red diode turns off and Banana Pi looses power. I have already tried several HDDs (500 GB, 320 GB, 2 TB) - all with the same result. Anyone has some idea why this might be occuring despite powering drives from external source? Does Armbian have any software limitations that are creating this issue? …

Hy I'm currently trying to run a DS18B20 Temperature Sensor on the PA20 Port on my Neo Core 2. The w1_gpio und w1_therm modules are loaded but still I can't see the senors in the /sys/bus/w1/devices/ folder. (28-xxxx) Now I read in different threads to edit the FEX file in the /boot/ folder. So I would bee to first covert the script.bin to the script.fex. However I can't find any *.bin file in the /boot/ folder... So is the PA20 Port the correct 1Wire port? And how can I change this port to eg. GPIOG11 if I can't find the script.bin in the /boot/ folder? Andy

Hi, I thought I'd share this in case anyone else is in the same situation as I. I've been trying to get my Orange Pi Lite to boot the latest (Aug 26 2021) images. Good day, for my Orangepi PC+ I installed Armbian Ubuntu Jammy on a µSD card. Up until Armbian Ubuntu Strech I was able to use a PCM510A for sound output. The settings for this were easy. With all updated OS after Strech, I can't install the PCM. Unfortunately, the help that was published in the forum wasn't helpful or I couldn't take it over. On the eMMC I have installed Armbian5.59 Orangepipcplus Ubuntu xenial default 3.4.113 desktop. Because of the advanced age of this OS, there are no updates and upgrades. Luckily my internet radio still works. Can someone explain to me how I can install the PCM510A at Jammy? Kind regards hajupiko49

Hello, I'm working on a project which include a microcontroller and a NanoPi NEO Core running Armbian FriendlyCore distribution. The NanoPi is wired to the µcontroler ICSP which can reset the µcontroller for update purpose. The allwinner H3 datasheet state that the GPIOA6 (the one linked to ICSP) should start with HIGH-Z and no resistance pulling, it seems to do so but a few second after reboot it seems to go low as all other GPIO... resulting in an unwanting reset of the µcontroller. Is there a way to change this by setting the default state somewhere in the system, or should I have to use dts files or core compilation ? Any solution would be appreciated. …

Some little problem - i wanna to do automatic smart home and for my old devices that use Infra red signal i don't know how to transmit IR signal with Opi PC. I use ESP like middle-ware (send command to opi pc, that the opi pc send the command to esp which transmit it). Do someone know appropriate solution, because this one is sooo hard working and slow? When I cat w1_slave I get: 90 01 80 01 1f ff 02 04 5c : crc=5c YES 90 01 80 01 1f ff 02 04 5c t=25000 I have attempted to use this: https://github.com/danjperron/BitBangingDS18B20 but it appears to be specifically for RaspPi. Does anyone know how I can change the resolution to 11 or 12 bit? Many thanks

I am using an OPi+ 2e as an OMV box. Tonight I updated to 5.38 (4.14.15 kernel). After the update, the network connection drops between the router and the OPi at random intervals. At least once in a hour, sometimes within 10 minutes. Tried restarting the device and the router, to no avail.

Or is there any difference with h5? Do you know how many fps with which resolution does this camera have? Thanks.

I've experienced some issue on my OPI PC running 4.14 kernel - it disconnects eth after some hours of running. It's very annoying for me because I'm running Home Assistant automations on it and it's located in remote location (not in my home), so I have to drive 50 km to reset/reconnect it manually First I thought OPI just froze somehow (kernel panic or so). But later I've set up heartbeat trigger on red led and it's blinking, so OPI just disconnects from eth. When I unplugged cable for a minute and plugged it in back, networking was restored and I could reach via ssh. I'd like to make some workaround for now and the simplest thing seems to be write a script and pu…

Hello all, i wonder what is the status of the support for this touchcontroller. I've got to know that in latest kernels there is prebuilt support for it and in my latest armbian there is a module for this. But following this: https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=143581 i failed to make it work. May be i've done it the wrong way in armbianEnv.txt tho. Hi!!! I am planning to buy Orange Pi PC but I saw that it has thermal issues because of overclocking/overvolting. My question is, Is armbian able to fix this problem??? ------Sorry...I am new to Single Board Computers----- Another thing, If Armbian isn't helpful about it, Does Orange Pi PC2 differ from it's predecessor??(I mean in thermal issues)... Hi, I am having a strange problem with my Orangepi One, I previously had a python script which was run on login using .bashrc. The python script controlled VLC using the python bindings and hence I could not use crontab -e or rc.local as they are run in the backgound. Previously .bashrc worked without any issues however either I updated VLC or armbian and now it does not run after I login (even using an autologin). Strangely enough however if I login via SSH the script runs. Initially I attempted upgrading the kernel from 6.1.26 to 6.1.33 using the build scripts to generate the newer kernel and headers. After rebooting I found that the system just appeared to hang around starting kernel. I did wait 10 minutes at first, thinking that perhaps their maybe some stuff going on in the background but after that conclude that it had most certainly crashed. The frustrating thing being that I did not appear to get any errors come through the debug port. At this point I assumed that perhaps something may have broke during the upgrade. My second attempt was using a completely fresh compiled image but unfortunately the result was still the same. …

I received my new Orange Pi Plus 2e and tried to set it up. I already got an Orange Pi PC2 running so it's not really something new to me. I used the latest Armbian images (desktop and server), flashed them to my SD card (with Etcher) and plugged it into the Pi. The green LED lights up and the device seems to be working. To this point it's the same as on my PC2. But after ~1min the red LED starts flashing twice over and over and nothing seems to be working. I get no signal over the HDMI out and the LED keeps flashing. I flashed the SD card three times to make sure it's not a flashing error. I tried the desktop image twice and the server image once. It always ends wit…

Hello. I have an OPi +2e, with Ubuntu 16.04 and legacy kernel 3.4.113-sun8i. I tried to install Nextcloud via a Snap package, but got this error: error: cannot perform the following tasks: - Run configure hook of "nextcloud" snap if present (run hook "configure": cannot open mount namespace of the init process (O_PATH): No such file or directory) I googled for the message, and found out that there are some bits needed in the kernel, for Snap to work (see https://forum.snapcraft.io/t/nextcloud-snap-install/2674/3 ). Has anybody got this to work? Maybe with mainline kernel?

Hi, I have been using the Aruntu 2.0 desktop for CubieTruck on my sailboat mainly to run an OpenSource charting program called OpenCPN. On Aruntu I was able to compile from source and it worked well. Aruntu is no longer supported, so I am trying to switch to ArmBian. I can compile on ArmBian, but OpenGLES is not found, so the program defaults to software OpenGL which is very slow. How can I install OpenGLES support, in order to use the hardware video accelleration ? Thanks, JM.

Hi Few days ago i've upgraded by armbian to the newest release version 5.17? from 5.11. The problem is, that minidlna DLNA server is only visible for few minutes after the service is started. Later i need a restart the service to make it visible for the new clients. The strange is that when i don't exit/shutdown the client, after the server discovered, it stays visible and works perfectly. But i want to make it visible for a newly started client, i need to restart the service. It doesn't seem to be client problem, as the same happens with my samsung smart tv, and a windows pc with foobar 2000 dlna plugin. What's the problem? (it maybe a broadcasting problem)

hi, I have an OPI pc with armbian (legacy kernel), plan to set it as NAS. due to it has 4 USB ports without internal hub, so I decide to connect 3 USB HDD to it, and create a LVM+RAID5. but unfortunately, OPI pc can only recognize 2 USB HDD(any 2 of these 3 USB hdd), at any USB ports, the 3rd USB HDD can be found by lsusb but stops at "spinning up...." no /dev/sdc. but if I insert an USB disk, (with 2 USB HDD already inserted), it can be recognized and /dev/sdc is created. I guess whether there is a power supply issue. can this be fixed by USB HDD with additional power supply? is that right?

After I got my OPiPC+ to finally boot without HDMI, it wouldn't boot in my shop. I originally had it in the bedroom because that's where a convenient HDMI TV was AND that's where the U-Verse router is. In the shop, it went through an HP Procurve 2626 switch but would hang early in the boot process. Logged into the switch and found that most ports were set to "100FDpx". I changed the Pi port to "Auto100" and within seconds, the Pi was booting. Yay! Most people won't have such a problem using ordinary switches. A year ago, I needed more ports in the shop and got a great deal on this one locally. I didn't need 24 ports or the feature set but it was $40.00. T…

Hello, currently I am working on my Orange pi one system (Armbian Linux orangepione 3.4.113-sun8i #10 SMP PREEMPT Thu Feb 23 19:55:00 CET 2017 armv7l armv7l armv7l GNU/Linux) to get my ILI9341-TFT display to work using the fb_ili9341 kernel module.
