  2. Orange Pi Lite - Armbian 5.14 The desktop shutdown (or shutdown -h now) shuts down the desktop, the system starts shutting down, then the desktop starts again, then disappears and the system shuts down. Its not a disastrous problem, but just annoying. I've traced it to the fact that 'nodm' is seeing the desktop stop, and then restarting it. Apparently either 'nodm' isn't getting the shutdown signal, or ignoring it, or getting it too late. Any guidance on what 'nodm' config, or some other config might help me to fix this? /K

Hi guys, I'm a bit lost with this one. I want to setup a way of basically reinstalling a NanoPi Neo over the network. My thought process is: 1. Boot from NFS. 2. In the boot process have a script that runs the nand-sata-install.sh (or modified version of). 3. Reboot with new OS from USB. Now, I'm sure I can get this working, the bit that I am having trouble working out is how the bootloader will know if we should be loading from NFS or USB. Can UBoot grab this from the network? Ideally this will also be done without SSH access. I know this is a complicated problem but any guidance in the right direction will be really appreciated. Thanks!

  16. Let me start to express my gratitude for the wealth of information and software which is available here. I'm a longtime user of a usb 2.0 soundcard along with a laptop with KXStudio and Guitarix. I've used this setup many times for gigging and home recording and it proved to be stable. One of the downsides is the "voluminous" laptop. I've my soundcard mounted in a small 19" flightcase with one rack still open. For some years I've been thinking of making rack mountable effectprocessor from a board to substitute the laptop. So, to start this journey I've ordered a OPi PC (along with a good quality micro SD card!), of course not a heavyweight board, but my first…

Yesterday I have updated and tried to compile, noticed that the function "fetch_from_github" was gone (replaced by "fetch_from_repo"?). With a tiny world and minimal server settings(and disabled watchdog), it works but it's unplayable. Server can't keep up even with a free falling player. I have heatsinks and fan on the pi so I don't think it's about throttling. I think this CPU is insufficient for this task.

Please, help me! (Running latest Armbian (3.4 kernel)

  33. According to http://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-pc-plus/ If I understand correctly, the only difference is that PC+ has additional eMMC and WiFi. So a system with vanilla kernel for Opi PC+ should also work on the PC. Or are there other hardware differences? The page states: "serial console only, no HDMI." Does this vanilla system support Ethernet yet, so one can login via ssh after installation? My targeted use would be a tvheadend server (without local video for the moment).

Hi all. I recently bought an Orange Pi Lite. After trying to get the power switch to work as a power switch (by this I mean booting the board when it was previously shutdown), and after searching for a while, it seems that the power switch in the Orange Pi Lite is not a real one, but it's instead connected to a GPIO. Do you guys know of any Orange Pi board that implements a proper power switch? Thanks.

I tried to browse the network and look for my Tplink NAS router and it says "this location could not be displayed." I would appreciate any ideas to get samba running.

  39. Hi, my current project is about using a NanoPI M1 as a controller for a 3D printer. As such, one wants to have very tight timing on the GPIO output, with as little jitter as possible, to get smooth motion of the stepper motors. However, it is common belief that getting a fast timing with little jitter is virtually impossible to do under linux, without the help of a dedicated chip just for the IO. While that is true in general on stock kernels, it's possible to vastly improve on that front by spending a little effort. One way on ARM chips is to use the FIQ. That is an interrupt that has the highest priority, which can interrupt all other, regular interrupts. Ho…

Hi All, I'm new here, well been lurking a while reading heaps, just not posting before now. My Orange Pi's arrived a few days ago so I have been playing, I have Ubuntu_xenial_3.4.112 image on both types and am able to connect to home wifi and do apt-get update/upgrade so all good here. One thing I wanted to do is use batman-adv, but the kernel module seems to have been disabled on the armbian images: @orangepipcplus:~# cat /boot/config-3.4.112-sun8i |grep BATMAN # CONFIG_BATMAN_ADV is not set It took me a while to figure out how to confirm this was the case but another post pointed me to the /boot/config-3.4.112-sun8i file. So this is where I need so…

I'm currently using an OrangePI 2+as a kiosk computer, and I'm wondering if there might be some other way to wake it from sleep other than pressing the power button. Would it be possible for it to wake from sleep if one of the GPIO pins were pulled high, for instance? TIA, -Jim

  56. Hi, I am running headless mainline jessie image on my cubietruck smoothly for some months now. The only drawback is that i need from time to time to play some videos on the tv. I have been waiting for hardware video acceleration in order to install mpv and play videos without GUI. I have been looking at the sunxi mainline effort and I see that for kernel 4.8 they plan the display engine clocks (TCON, FE, DE). As I am not a developer, it is not obvious to me (I have already googled it but no luck) if the display engine clocks are what we are waiting for hardware video acceleration on the mainline kernel. Hi Forum, Please let me take a "low level" question about what I experienced on my CT. It should be my misunderstanding but it would be good if someone could help to clarify. On my CT udev mounts a USB device then starts a bash script in the background. This script lunches some bash threads and waits for them to complete. The threads has no common job on any file or resource. In the third level of nesting cp -r chrashes without any error message. It leaves the logging sentence in the middle, so it's really chrashes. rsync does the same but for different files. The scripts are fully functional if I start them from a root console. Even if started in the background.…

  75. hi, having power problems with the two usb ports of my pcduino3 nano, i checked the schematics and it appears the otg port is not powered by the USB_5V rail but directly from the VCC_5V input rail, so i was hoping it would solve my problem. 95. Hello everyone activating legend movie MPlayer vdpau? banana pi m1

  96. Hi, I updated my image for BananPi from v5.00 (Wheezy) to the latest one (v5.16). Everything works fine, but if I run "apt-get upgrade" I get the message that the package "linux-whezzy-root-bananapi" is reserved (will not be installed). hardware-info says 6 packages to update, but I can't... Is this correct? Do I need this package to be on the latest version? What to do? Thanks. Steffen

Guys you do a great work with these distros, i get my respect and i admire you. Some little problem - i wanna to do automatic smart home and for my old devices that use Infra red signal i don't know how to transmit IR signal with Opi PC. I use ESP like middle-ware (send command to opi pc, that the opi pc send the command to esp which transmit it). Do someone know appropriate solution, because this one is sooo hard working and slow? Thanks in advance, for the time, support and the work you do!!!!!

  98. Hi Forum, My CT with "Armbian_5.14_Cubietruck_Debian_jessie_4.6.2" image fails to complete apt-get upgrade and dist-upgrade. I haven't installed or removed any package, simply used the original image as it is. It starts the process, gets the packages, unpacks, starts setting them up and hangs at compiling the new headers. I left it working a full night but found with doing nothing. No cpu or disk activity was seen. Has anyone seen this before? Any idea? Thanks, T

Hello, I liked to have fixed MAC address to my Orange Pi lite. At the moment, after every boot I have different one. First of all, is there "real" MAC for this board? If there is, how the see it? Then what would be correct way to set static MAC, U-boot/Scribt.bin/ifconfig...? I am running Armbian 5.14 Jessie server.

Hello, I leave in a place where we occasionally get really heavy storms or the power gets cut for some reason. This most often does not happen more than five minutes, but there has been longer cases. Now, this poses an obvious problem with my headless server (Orange Pi PC btw). I went on a week trip last month, to discover the development board I needed was completely down. I called a friend and the power had indeed been cut off in my neighbourhood, but my server would no longer respond over SSH. I hard reset the server by power cable and tried restarting sshd (after getting home a week later), just to get warning that the action of the service was queued and afterwards w…
