Today I re-installed my Cubietruck as it was really outdated. It had: Linux cubietruck 3.4.105-cubieboard #8 SMP PREEMPT Fri Jan 23 06:11:42 EST 2015 armv7l GNU/Linux still running without issues. I reformatted the SD card with: ARMBIAN 5.65 stable Debian GNU/Linux 9 (stretch) 4.14.78-sunxi Configured everything and now I want to move the data to my SSD. (just as I had before) However dmesg shows me: cubietruck ata1: SATA link down (SStatus 0 SControl 300) What did i miss??

The translation was done by Google Hello friends, my hardware: Orangepi pc plus dac-pcm5102mk-i2s. 3.5 "touch display So far I have the system in eMMC (ARMBIAN 5.60 stable Ubuntu 16.04.5 LTS 3.4.113-sun8i) and optionally on 16GB uSD card (ARMBIAN Debian GNU / Linux 8 (jessie) 3.4.113-sun8i). In both cases, an xfce desktop is installed. The setup of the DAC I have after the tutorial I2S on Orange Pi H3 by Da Alchemist, February 29, 2016 in both Debian 8 and Ubuntu 16.04. Works well. I installed the display after the hints from How to use Touchscreen + LCD on H3 devices by kutysam, July 31, 2017. It claps with the display of the desktop, but the touch …

Hi. When you install RPi monitor on a board using legacy 3.4 kernel (in my case, Orange Pi Plus2e), you can notice an error message in the "Memory" section of the web interface, as well as a very weird big number of used memory. That is caused because it tries to read some value from /proc/meminfo (named "MemAvailable") that wasn't implemented in that version of the kernel (I think it was implemented in 3.14, if I remember well). So I have made a custom version of the memory module, which gets the value for used and available memory using the same algorythm as HTOP, which has been many years around being very useful. I am attaching the file "memory_legacy…

Dear All, I am just trying to figure how to enable the UART3 to be a 4 wire serial port for Lamobo R1 board. As per the datasheet here, https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4PAo2nW2KfnNTBaVENGeHZfSzA/view UART3 4 wire signals are routed to J12 connector. I was looking to modify .dtb file, when I realize there is a definitions for PH3 GPIO under DTB file such as usb2_vbus_pin@0 { allwinner, pins = "PH3"; allwinner, function = "gpio_out"; allwinner, drive = <0x0>; allwinner, pull = <0x0>; linux, phandle = <0x42>; phandle = <0x42>; }; PH2 is not defined, looking at schematic I cannot find how VBUS for US…

Very minor niggle, got a ZeroPi today and of course it will run Armbian, after doing the mandatory apt update && apt upgrade I was greeted with a banner saying xt-q8l-v1 instead of ZeroP when logging back in after rebooting for the kernel update. I just want to post a thank you to the developers and contributors who have built one NICE distribution. Over a year ago I bought a few OPi PC as a possible replacement for Raspberry Pi based HAM radio projects I support. To say I was disappointed in the distribution from the manufacturer is a understatement. Without Loboris stepping up and getting something usable I would have tossed them in the trash and moved on. Last night I downloaded and installed Jessie server from Armbian. What a pleasure. Small, clean and a giant plus for me, HEADERS!!!!. I am so tired of having to build the headers for a kernel so I can compile the out of tree modules I need. I just ordered a f…

Because today I did get my Black-Friday NanoPi Neo2 LTS 1GB I swapped my old Neo2 against this new 1Gb LTS-version. After assembling the new LTS to the fresh heatsink I did a testdrive and all went fine (network etc). So I did try to put the faceplate back on the case but it doenst fit. At the time when I did buy the case there was also a faceplate for the normal H3 Neo delivered. So for the new LTS Neo2 I had to use the faceplate for the H3-Neo, because the new LTS Neo2 has the USB-Port aligned like the H3-Neo . The old Neo2 has his USB-Port (on the main Neo2-PCB) a bit shifted against the Network-port. Also the new LTS …

To replace my dead home server (which was just a dead laptop anyway), I picked up an Orange Pi PC for cheap locally. After solving power supply issues, I tested GUI and media performance on the board, with an aim to perhaps use the composite out for emulation, before concluding that this wasn't the best choice for the board. (That, and it'd kill my performance for the more useful server aspects.) While technically impressive, it wasn't really worth it when my PC is right there for me to use to play those video files I would on the board. Looking into the matter, it seems the ideal solution for a file server would be to install the Mainline kernel to benefit fr…

I'm trying to set up one of my Orange PI Zero to be a MPD Player and in parallel to play streams from other devices over network. The streams are provided by a Ubuntu desktop PC and and a Librelec PC. The Orange Pi Zero is running Armbian 5.38 with Kernel 4.14.18. I tried the last days two solutions: ALSA dmix plugin playing everything except network streams and Pulseaudio for nework streams Playing everything through Pulseaudio in system mode The first solution failed as the dmix plugin in ALSA has poor performance and causes regularly high CPU load resulting in broken audio playback with MPD The second solution seemed to be better s…

For some reason still unknow to me, my OrangePi Lite Wifi became unreachable twice. I should have checked whether it was something more. Hi. I'm using Cubietruck, and installed Ubuntu server(mainline) on it. Suddenly, I can't write to disk(SD card). Actually, yes I can. I could create, edit, or even delete files, but all the changes are gone after the Cubietruck is rebooted. The deleted files are back, and created files are gone. What should I check? My SD card is Samsung Evo 16GB, and I'm running Cubietruck for more than 2 years. I have never encountered this weird situation.

I first noticed this on my Orange Pi Zero. The latest Armbian releases (4.13.x) have some kind of gap between bytes when transmitting over SPI. I have an SPI performance test built into my SPI_LCD code: https://github.com/bitbank2/SPI_LCD If you run the demo program, it measures how many frames per second it can write to an SPI-connected LCD. On older Armbian builds with kernel version 3.x, it would usually get 27-33FPS on the H2/H3 boards. With the mainline kernel builds and running the same code, I'm seeing 9-17FPS (depending on the board). The H5 doesn't seem to be affected (I'm using an Orange Pi Zero +2 H5 for testing also). Anyone else seeing…

Env is ARMBIAN 5.31 stable Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS 3.4.113-sun8i When I run Kismet on this system (which creates a new interface in Monitor mode - wlan0mon), the original WiFi interface loses any connections, and will no longer function properly. Is this a expected behavior? Is there any way to get both monitor and normal mode to co-exist? I've looked around and don't see any obvious driver updates that would address this. Any suggestions (beyond adding a second WiFi adapter)?

First of all: my compliments to the staff of armbian for the important work done. I bought some lamobo r1 boards to use in a production environment such as (open)vpn router to realize a tele-service with PLC. I installed bananian (the first distro that I found on internet) but after a week I switched to armbian trying to create my own image from scratch. Very well, I like to have control over things. The question is: I should connect a lipo battery to the board so that when the main power goes off a daemon script syncs sd and then shutdown, but when the main power is reconnected the board must do a reboot automatically. It is possible to do this? Where should my daemon sc…

Hello everyone, I know this is a well known problem of the OPi Zero, but in regarding to "solutions": h3consumption works only with the legacy kernel because of the use of Fex Is there a way to tweak the things h3consumption did in the mainline version? In the mainline version from armbian-config it is possible to disable USB, in /etc/default/cpufrequtils it is also possible to set the maximum frequency and wifi can be disabled. Does anyone know any option for disabling the GPU, limit the DRAM clockspeed and the maximum active cores? Is the only possibility to recompile the kernel, at the moment? Unfortunately the main tu…

Something happened during one upgrade operation and I lost my boot so I thought "why not take this opportunity to flash a new image". Mistake. BIG mistake. Now I cannot get any application to output stereo audio and also I cannot get any application to use the microphone. Can someone please help out at least gett…

Hello, guys! I'm trying to make use of gpio-poweroff procedure. I'm trying to understand the consequences of the approach I've used. Here's what I did 1) Added power_ctrl: power_ctrl { compatible = "gpio-poweroff"; gpios = <&pio 6 11 GPIO_ACTIVE_HIGH>; force; }; to arch/arm64/boot/dts/allwinner/sun50i-h5-nanopi-neo-plus2.dts 2) Recompiled the device tree blob and put it where it belongs The gpio-poweroff's code got probed but failed due to `pm_poweroff_handler` being set to something. So I figured it out that it's set to `psci_sys_poweroff` in [drivers/firmware/psci.c](https://github…

I have a raspi hat (rak2245) that has 2 versions: a pi-hat version that has a 40 pin-header on it for raspberry pi's , but also a smaller stamp edition. It uses spi and uart to communicate with the pi. I have it running without issues on my orange pi zero, even though the pinheader is a little too large. And via a breadboard I can access all pins just fine. But since I am making my own PCB anyway, I am interested in using the stamp version. The only difference between the stamp and the pi-hat version (aside from the form-factor and pin-out) is that the pi-hat version has an additional eeprom chip to tell the rapsberry pi about the function of the pins apparently. Now…

Hello, does this USB WiFi card work with armbian on Orange Pi 3 LTS? TP-Link Nano AC600 USB Wifi Adapter https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PB1X4CN/ Does it need any drivers to be installed? If yes, is there any that is working with OPi 3 LTS? Btw I want to use this wifi adapter, because Armbian doesn't work with internal wifi card in this SBC - https://forum.armbian.com/topic/23505-orange-pi-3-lts-no-wifi/ (and sadly Devs didn't release a fix for it)

Hello, In a GOLANG based, RPi 3B+ project I am using the https://github.com/stianeikeland/go-rpio package to read the state of the GPIO-s. I am planning to set up some Banana Pi M2 Berries with the same software. The package - as it was expected - doesn't work with the M2 Berry. I could adapt the package for the Berry, but I don't know which peripheral chip is used in it. Does anyone know which peripheral chip is used in the Berry? (The schematic diagram on BPI's page is useless). Thanks, G.

I think I know the answer to this but I'll ask anyways. Is there any command line software out there (e.g., VLC) that I could put onto an Armbian Server Edition version that would show a movie out on the HDMI port? I have a NanoPi M1 that has a HDMI port. But I'm assuming that without all the Desktop video driver, it isn't possible to do this on a headless server.

Hello, The NanoPi Neo 2 has an H5 SoC. When I look at the Linux mainlining effort chart at Sunxi, I see that Ethernet support for the H5 only came in the 4.15 kernel. But the kernel in the Armbian downloads for the NanoPi Neo 2 only have the 4.14.y kernel. So can one expect the GbE to work, on a NanoPi Neo 2, with the current Armbian (Bionic or Stretch)? Maybe you already backport the 4.15 Ethernet-related code (for the H5) into that 4.14.y kernel?

Hi, I´ve just search in all forum for the A20-Banana Pro. And I must realize, that it doesn't give a Armbian5.0-Trusty-without-desktop ISO or RAW. Therefore I once wanted to ask if this for "Legacy" and / or "Vanilla" possibly still comes? Because I seek the server version of "Ubuntu Trusty" for my Banana Pi Pro. Best regards, Inu

Finally Orange PI Family gets the 4.x kernel support. But there is no Vanilla Kernel on Orange PI PC.Please add the support on Orange PI PC.Thx!

Hey guys, I have a Banana Pro and recently switched to Armbian from Bananian. I boot from an HDD connected to the SATA port on bpi. Apparently the root fs is supposed to get resized to the max size(1TB in my case) during the first boot. But, well, it didn't work for me.. so instaed of 1TB I had 1.5 GBs. I wiped the partition in fdisk and created a new one using the old starting block(2048) but leaving the end to default. Result: I now have all the space available to me but everytime I log in it still says "90% of 1.5G". Why doesn't it scale?I know this is kinda ridiculous but I'm a perfectionist haha. ____ ____ _ ____ …

Hi all! I have Orange Pi One with Armbian Debian 5.8.9-sunxi on board. The problem is that when I catch 2 kHz square wave with OPi gpio, I have very big delta between signals. If I use "interrupt both endges" parameter for gpio, time between signals must be 250 microsecs. But now it floats between 200 - 290 microsecs. And I have achive this result after some suggestions from other forum topics: using isolcpu=3, run c program on this cpu, use max priority, disable powersaving for CPU. I try to read with wiringOP lib, and directly from sysfs, but still have jittering about 90 us. Also I think, that I have not very bad results for cyclict…

Hello, I've just found a topic about removing Allwinner legacy. I work with Orange Pi PC Plus board, H3 CPU. Do I understand correctly that the option to build system based on old v.3.4 kernel will be removed? Once I experienced a problem with system shutdown using newer kernel - got System halted message. This is why I decided to continue with legacy kernel. Please advise.

I am new to Armbian and I have been using Jessie on BPI M2 for a couple weeks now but I can't seem to get it to automatically boot into desktop mode when no monitor is connected. It always seems to go right into command line. I have a number of pieces of software that have a GUI and need to run under desktop mode right off the bat that I would like to have at startup. I have been doing a lot of searching and have been wondering if it is a frambuffer issue. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I had a rather crazy idea (in my opinion) of trying to hook up a bluray drive to an Orange Pi Zero Plus that i have a spare of, then possibly set that up as an iscsi target with LiO to create a network attached BD drive. However, I'm already stuck even getting the BD drive to work with the OPi in the first place. I have the optical drive hooked to an externally powered USB 2.0 to ATA bridge (has a SATA port on it as well, this hardware config was tested in windows and worked great) and that's plugged into the single USB port on the board. The problem i seem to be having (not entirely sure I'm correct, very new at this) is that sr_mod is not enabled or present. T…

I recently started playing around with OrangePi Zero with the Allwinner H2+ CPU. I want to test out the internal audio DAC. To do so I enabled "analog-coded" in armbian-config. After rebooting I saw a new audio device in the output of "pacmd list-cards", but it says that only mono is available. How can I configure stereo sound? I haven't played around with "/etc/asound.conf" much as I don't understand it. Also, I don't have anything plugged into the audio pins on the GPIO.

I have a question, does anyone know a method to start in the Opi Lite system the I2S audio interface and in particular I mean the module: PCM5102 / PCM5102a On my old OrangePi Lite board, sound and audio in the configuration as mentioned above really work great ... but unfortunately the Armbian system that I use is no longer supported. This is the Ubuntu version (xenial) and kernel: 3.4.113-sun8i, I managed to update some programs important to me, e.g. mpd / mpc but not to the latest versions. I also have another version of OrangePI 3 LTS and I know that on this model it is rather impossible to start I2S + PCM5102 so I used a good sound card under USB and it is OK. Ho…

Hello. I'm writing a program that requires sound.target. I was reading about sound.target and how it's a special systemd unit that doesn't load until the system finds the sound card. Armbian takes quite a bit of time to find the sound card on the OPi, around 30 seconds. Or, maybe it's something else that's making it take so long. I was wondering if there was a way I could mess around with systemd or something else to make the sound card found faster, thus sound.target and my program loading faster upon powering on the device. Thank you

Hi Everyone After several weeks (maybe months) seeking for a solution for my problem I decide to post it here and hope to get a fix for it. At first I still run an Cubietruck with Armbian (everytime the latest Version) with just a few services (Pi-Hole, RPi-Monitor) and for future use Apache, MariaDB and PHPmyadmin (just installed and running, but with no content). Now to the problem itself: The Cubietruck runs approximatly 6 to 10 days and then it's get stuck. Only a reset solve the problem for the next 6 to 10 days. On every crash I checked the syslog and it always show the following lines as latest entries: Jun 29 15:17:28 localhost systemd[1]: St…

Hardware: Orange Pi Zero 512MB LTS (several different devices), bench power supply, good SD card - everything working good at all clock speeds from 480MHz upwards (all the way up to 1.4GHz even, with a heatsink). ffmpeg encode, stress-ng etc. are all fine. Specifically, the board is rock solid at 960MHz. What I want to achieve: take the U-boot for OPi Zero, and rebuild with an adjusted config to achieve a faster boot time, by replacing CONFIG_SYS_CLK_FREQ=480000000 with CONFIG_SYS_CLK_FREQ=960000000.
