I got btrfs and support for some USB devices, but lost HDMI and 3 cpu cores. Is there a better option I could try? Is it ok to ask for recomends as to what board I might better choose? I require a modern Ubuntu/kernel, decent usb, decent network (gigabit if possible), and low cost. Hi, couple of month ago I installed Armbian on my Cubietruck. I didn't really use it much, but today I decided to start using it, and obviously the right way to do so is to update to the latest version. So when I started, I had this version on my Cubietruck: ARMBIAN Ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS 3.4.112-sun7i I followed Igor's instructions at http://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Getting-Started/#how-to-update : apt-get update apt-get upgrade apt-get install -f apt-get upgrade apt-get autoremove -y However, I received the following error message after the first instance of "upgrade": ... 18. Hello! I recently started setting my board up, and came across all the information needed to enable the LCD use for it. For info, I've updated to 5.20. I have gone through the whole process to change the script.bin to fex, edit, change back, copy and sync. The changes are saved, I have even made a copy of the script.bin to script.fex in order to see if the new script contains the changes I made. All is there. It seems to be the problem another user had in this thread: http://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/841-bananapro-lemaker-5in-lcd-legacy-kernel/ In this case I chose the lcd_if=4 since it is what they provide at sunxi, but it didnt work. It appeared just fine on the first time - but I noticed lack of any OSD/subtitles. I tried to use different player (VLC), played with different video outputs. 'X11' worked well on both VLC and mpv... until I tried fullscreen. After long time spent researching the topic I found out that Armbian is using libvdpau-surni whitch is a community driver reversed-engeineered from Allwinner's commertial one, apparently avalibale for Android. I also read that its output will alvays overlap any other elements of the screen including subtitles, menus et…

I'm trying to recompile the image from source (because I want the kernel with SATA PMP support, and I got the SATA port multiplier and 3 drives ready), but failed in the last step. As the attached image, the problem should be caused by "Device or resource busy". I'm using a fresh downloaded Ubuntu 16.4 VB image and follow every instructions in github. So, how can I get rid of it? Am I missing something? Thanks.

Hi there Have purchased a Lime 2 device, as it offered GigE-which my Pi's dont :-) Loaded up both the vanilla and the normal distro's but both have this annoying habit of the device just goes to sleep-sometimes after a few hours. When I say sleep, I can still see the Ethernet LED's blinking away-but it wont respond to PING's, and it wont respond to SSH. Plugging in a monitor and keyboard doesn't bring it back to life either. If I power recycle it (2.5A unit being used-have tried the OTG and the 5vdc but no difference), up she comes. Fully updated in terms of packages. I have even set up a continuous ping to my home router from the Lime 2 (its on my internal LAN) to see …

  25. Hi, Initially this started by trying to have proper capture and playback in PCM/I2S port, but it looks like that ALL H3 audio drivers got the same problem, they cannot capture at 24bits, they cannot do HiFi recording despite the Allwinner's datasheet that they do have 24bits in plain audio port and up to 32bits in PCM/I2S/HDMI. I made a very simple test in another thread here and anyone with any H3 board without anything else can do it too -> http://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/759-tutorial-i2s-on-orange-pi-h3/?p=17595 Then it popped to my mind to do the most simple of the tests, in the included/onboard audio codec, wich according to datasheet it is w…

I'm running an OrangePi One. Having installed Armbian a while ago and gone through all the updates, I was wondering if there is any way to determine what equivalent release my installations are at. I noticed that 5.20 is out and some folks are talking about 5.21. I'm running Jessie. Also, for me to use a more recent version of Debian, I'm guessing I would have to build the image myself? Is that due to shortcomings in the 4.x kernels on the H3 platform? I've done some digging and it seems like many (most) things are working right on the 4.x kernels? Thank you James

  28. Edit: Nothing was wrong with the Orange PI. I turned out to be my switch. Hi All, Firstly, Armbian is just fantastic. Secondly, this issue is highly likely to have nothing to do with Armbian, but just the cheap crap you'd expect from a cheap SBC. Essentially, after much pain and anguish having bizarre Ethernet connectivity issues with a shiny new Orange PI PC I bought a couple of days, which was: 1. When OPI was connected my network switch (which has four other devices connected to it: two Ethernet and two WiFi), none of the other devices can reliably 'ping' or SSH to the OPI... 25% to 100% packet loss. 2. When connecting the OPI physically directly to ex…

I'm running OpenElec on a NanoPI-M1 and one thing missing is having the screen blanked when the screensaver kicks in, allowing the monitor to power down. In Kodi there's no option to do it, unlike when running in other OS. Probably someone is going to direct me at CEC but that does not work for me as I have a PC monitor connected to the board through a HDMI->VGA adaptor. I've read in the sunxi docs that the '/sys/class/graphics/fb0/blank' sysfs entry should control blanking for the framebuffer, therefore blanking the HDMI output, but it either does not work that way or at all, as nothing happens. On the RP world there is a command line utility that can enable/disabl…

Hi Guys, a few weeks ago, I implemented a project wich reads the power sources of my Banana Pi. I was using /sys/power/axp_pmu/. I now made a new build to enable lcd display and such things. But now /sys/power/axp_pmu/ isn't there. Also can't find it anywhere in my system. Only /sys/power/{pm_async, pm_freeze_timeout, state, wakeup_count} Kernel of new build is 4.8.0 What have I to do, to get axp_pmu back? Martin

Hello. I am new to Armbian. My Banana PI M2 (already a disappointment, bad purchase on my part) is up and running but will not reboot all the way. It shuts down but does not restart again. Any ideas how to go about troubleshooting and fixing this? It is a deal breaker for what I planned to be a headless system. It needs to be restartable without physically pulling the plug to do so.

  46. Hi, Nanopi M1 is so similar to Orange Pi One that you can use the amazing work provided by jernejsk and run Openelec using the VPU of the H3. Here are the links : * Main page * prebuilt images list * Github project * The issue I've opened I'm using the embedded IR Sensor with my remote (that was the toughest part) and the only modification I made was to change to cpufreq governor from performance to conservative but if you use the latest image you shouldn't have to do that. Well so far so good. I'm using a little heat sink and the cpu temperature is between 60°C and 80°C depending of the video I'm playing.

  49. Hi all, I'm writing this post because I had an issue upgrading my lamobo-r1 from the previous version to the current one (Armbian_5.20_Lamobo-r1_Ubuntu_xenial_4.7.3). On reboot hwclock doesn't start so I get my clock set to epoch, wan doesn't go UP, postfix says "time stamp 2015-11-25 01:40:22 is 1448411826.350146139 s in the future", random says "uninitialized urandom read"... a total mess. As pointed out on some sites, looks like "/etc/init/hwclock.conf" has "start on starting mountall" so failing to mount could cause a failing in hwclock initialization. I also found on bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu that in recent versions with systemd, mountall became fussy about fi…

Hi Back in February '15 I have started to write an instruction about the setup of a BPi-R1 (Router). In the threads of the Forum, the information is scattered and it takes so much time for each to get along. So I thought such a document would help to become not only faster, but to achieve a better result as well, as you can faster spend time with the device and tweak it. My know how is getting better, but things are still missing. If you like to help the 'community' with your know how, please leave comments in the document if you find errors or you find something missing. 56. According to http://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-pc-plus/ If I understand correctly, the only difference is that PC+ has additional eMMC and WiFi. So a system with vanilla kernel for Opi PC+ should also work on the PC. Or are there other hardware differences? The page states: "serial console only, no HDMI." Does this vanilla system support Ethernet yet, so one can login via ssh after installation? My targeted use would be a tvheadend server (without local video for the moment).

I thought initially it was because it was lacking a heatsink or fan. So I added both and the issue persisted. Thinking maybe if I flashed to emmc it might resolve the issue it froze in emmc install and is effectively softbricked from what I can tell sadly. I also tested a second OPIPC+ but was unable to get it to boot. I tested with multiple new power cables as well.

  86. Hello, I am trying to switch from an older wheezy (lemaker) install to a newer Armbian Jessie install, (5.14 Armbian).By using the Legacy Kernel I can load ft5x drivers for the 5" PCAP Screen. So Far, everything is working normally except much faster and reliable. My Problem is that I can't read the analog voltage from my MCP3002 anymore using spidev python module. I have spidev and spi-sun7i in /etc/modules ls /dev/spi* /dev/spidev0.0 /dev/spidev0.1 dmesg | grep spi [ 1.202344] [spi-inf] Found 2 spi devices in config files [ 1.209170] [spi-inf] boards num modalias max_spd_hz bus_num cs mode [ 1.212928] [spi-inf] spi_board0 …

  88. Started by tao,

I'm not sure if this is off-topic, but I'd like to ask the forum about a problem. My goal is to run RPi-Cam-Web-Interface (http://elinux.org/RPi-Cam-Web-Interface). I have 5.20 Jessie server 3.4.112 that has been updated/upgraded on an Orange Pi One with a gc2035 cam on an expansion board from aliexpress. As a first step I got the cam working. There are some threads in this forum that made that easy. I then installed github.com/roberttidey/userland since it includes raspimjpeg - a key element in the RPi-Cam-Web-Interface toolchain. But when I run raspimjeg I get the error * failed to open vchiq instance Google has solutions that involve permissions…

  89. There is problem with the internal wifi on Orange Pi Lite and Armbian 5.20 (5.16 too). I installed tshark (and tcpdump) and try to capture wifi packets in monitor mode. Without success. What's better. Aircrack-ng works flawlessly. I think, pcap library has a problem with switching the device to monitor mode. "dumpcap: The capture session could not be initiated on interface 'wlan0' (wlan0: SIOCGIWPRIV: Argument list too long)." 'iwpriv' command runs without error, but the private command list is really long. Buffer too small?? Dumpcap run with no errors on external USB wifi dongle (TP-Link TL-WN722N), so I think problem is in firmware of internal wlan chip…

  90. Hello every one, I have used crosstool-ng on my Jessie server (x86), and downloaded the linaro toolchain for my Ubuntu (x64 / 16.04) laptop, but ran into a wall both times: the cross-compilers won't (and now that I think about it, can't) link to the host libraries. Do I simply get all the sources for the libraries I want/need, and adjust their configure parameters to point to dedicated directory, and then build my target? Is there an easy way to manage the versions / dependencies to match Jessie (the version on my target OPi)? I am trying to compile Duktape with libreadline, if that matters. Thanks, Steve

I've try to upgrade my pi to newest version of the system yesterday, but FAILED for both apt-get upgrade or by download and write the newest image. Here is my working log: 1. apt-upgrade from armbian 5.14 image - error message indicate there's error during the apt-get update process - reboot, the boot screen shows no bootup message, than begin the TFTP startup process - wait until TFTP timeout, the system halt. 2. download and write the newest **Armbian_5.20_Bananapipro_Ubuntu_xenial_4.7.3.7z** - can be startup with the boot screen, both power led and disk io led (green led) work as expected - system halt after a few second, the power led …

Hi Few days ago i've upgraded by armbian to the newest release version 5.17? from 5.11. The problem is, that minidlna DLNA server is only visible for few minutes after the service is started. Later i need a restart the service to make it visible for the new clients. The strange is that when i don't exit/shutdown the client, after the server discovered, it stays visible and works perfectly. But i want to make it visible for a newly started client, i need to restart the service. It doesn't seem to be client problem, as the same happens with my samsung smart tv, and a windows pc with foobar 2000 dlna plugin. What's the problem? (it maybe a broadcasting problem)

  94. I am working on a new project which uses the Banana Pi to capture USB output destined for a printer in order to log the output from a system. The BananaPi will need to be a simple plugin which sits between the machine and a connected USB printer - so we want to: a ) Mimic the connected USB printer (so that the machine thinks it still has the original printer attached) b ) Capture the output from the machine c ) Send the captured output onwards to the printer. The BananaPi seemed the obvious choice as it has the built in USB OTG port and we would use the gadget printer to mimic the attached printer. Unfortunately, the Bananian images do not support the gadget printer a…

  95. Hello I am a new user of the armbian software. I installed the latest version of vanilla to armbian in the description of the material, I saw that the buscan was activated. I have a banana pi pro, I would like to know how to install the software for CAN bus. I read that can4linux was the driver to install. I read on this forum they've installed patches, but how do I installed a patch? Thank you for your help. PS: I speak French and I use a translator.

  96. I need/want USB ethernet via OTG. I've wasted over 16 hours trying to get the g_ether module to work. A prominent poster told me that all recent Armbian images have this ability, just follow the directions... It's not. I'm using the stock Armbian image from this website, and I've updated it via "sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade". Still no luck. The OTG connection currently shows up as a USB serial gadget, but I want a USB Ethernet gadget.

Hi, I've had a PcDuino3 for some time now, but I have barely used it because linksprite work was shoddy; so I never bothered to give the pcduino much time. I Also own a banana pi (A20), an O-DROID XU-4, several rPi's and an Orange Pi PC. All non rPi's are running armbian; you are all awesome for your work! I think I understand this problem with 4.x has something to do with the device tree .dtb files, but no clue what to do to get it to boot and display through HDMI. I'm actually wanting to use it as a headless server, but initial setup requires me to see the screen only because the onboard wifi is not working either (despite manually editing /etc/wpa_supplicant/wp…

  98. Been trying to use a DS18B20 with the Lamobo R1 and the last ArmBian, without success. As I have already an RTC in the first pins, connected it as follows: PIN 16=GPI04 / DATA PIN 17=3.3V PIN 20=GND I also added the required resistor between 3.3V and GPI04. Add to /etc/modules w1_sunxi w1_gpio w1_therm Added to my fex file: [w1_para] w1_used = 1 gpio = 16 Modified my dts: pinctrl@01c20800 { .... my_w1_pin@0 { allwinner,pins = "PH16"; allwinner,function = "gpio_in"; allwinner,drive = <0x0>; …

  99. Hey, for the LEDs the option "disk-activity" which was possible in Wheezy Legacy is no longer available. Is it possible to re-add that? Thank you, Ingo Fischer

  100. I have a BananaPi M1+ running pure-ftpd, it was fine when using Armbian 5.14, but I have a problem after upgraded to Armbian 5.20. Here is the output of the filezilla client : If I disable the firewall by clearing all the iptables rules, filezilla can connect to pure-ftpd without problem.
