  1. Hi, I need to use uart (for a gps receiver) and i2c (for some sensors) for my project via the gpio pins. Fortunately i2c is enabled in the images by default. I hope it is also enabled if I recompile armbian for the orangepi lite by default? Afaik I have to enable UART in the following file: https://github.com/igorpecovnik/lib/blob/master/config/fex/orangepilite.fex . Unfurtunately I do not understand which pins on the gpio header correspond to the ports defined in this file. For example: Can I use UART on any pins on the gpio header? I would like to use UART on the same pins as in https://www.element14.com/community/servlet/JiveServlet/previewBody/73950-102-10-…

  2. Never had a problem with Armbian on my board. After last full upgrade (linux-image-next-sunxi 5.27.170427 etc) system is not booting. I tried with a fresh SD card (image Armbian_5.25_Cubieboard_Debian_jessie_next_4.9.7) - it's booting fine afresh, but also doesn't boot after full upgrade. Below are logs for both cases. 3. Hi, I just started to fiddle around with my Cubietruck (since I exchanged it with a Banana Pi for productive stuff). I had to realize that /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/ is missing and that cpufreq-info outputs "no or unknown cpufreq driver is active on this CPU" correctly. Anyone else seeing this behaviour? Cpufreq support should be back with 4.0? Based on a sysbench run ("sysbench --test=cpu --cpu-max-prime=5000 run --num-threads=2" -- takes 58 seconds) I would suppose it's running not even at 960 MHz (since 960 should finish in less than 54 seconds). I did some iperf tests (not that promising, just 600/650 Mbits/sec) and iozone with my usual test…

  4. I want to use an OPI zero (armbian 5.31) to log data from a smart meter to influxdb. Everything works, but after 5 hrs i cant ssh into the pi - also, no data is written to the db. The pi has heatsinks and the temperature is around 53°C. Now i tried it without the logging and after 5 hrs, the pi was again not reachable (i dont know, if it crashed or only the connection went down). Last try was with a pi lite which showed the same behavior. What could be the problem?

Hello I have Opi lite 2 + 28byj-48 driver and step motor, and I want to play around, but can't find RPi.GPIO for OPi lite 2, how can I make it work ? I find pretty good example with raspberry pi http://www.raspberryproject.pl/en/automation/28byj-48-stepper-motor-raspberry-pi/ , I rearranged GPIOs to fit my board but I have error: File "testy.py", line 4, in <module> import RPi.GPIO as GPIO ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'RPi' Welcome to ARMBIAN 5.67.181116 nightly Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS 4.19.2-sunxi64

I just checked the mali blob: mali450r5p001rel0linux1fbdevarm64v8a (fbdev) and this blob is working on the legacy kernel with the proper patches. Nevertheless we may have some stability issues at the current voltage/frequence; Indeed gl-mark2-es-fb crashes around the refract test on my board.

  7. Hey. I'm trying to install octoprint on my Opi Zero +2, using the latest armbian image I found here on the site. Installation works fine, and I get the web interface up and running no problem. But I have connected power to the board on the gpio pins, and want to use the mini-usb to connect to the 3d printer. I have enabled usbhost0-3 in the hardware in armbian-config, but still it seems the printer cannot be reached. I read some older posts regarding other boards, where the solution seemed to be recompiling. Is this a necessity, and if so, could someone please point me to a walkthrough? Regards Anders

Hi. My platform is Orange Pi Plus. I connected SATA HDD and installed Armbian. Using nand-sata-install I created the following scenario: boot from SD, system on SATA. I also installed lighttpd. Several days everything works fine and than: ...file system on the root filesystem failed … rebooting automatically due to panic= boot argument... After that the PC just reboots constantly and I can do anything. The only solution I found is to repeat the process of boot SD creation. But after that I need to install everything again. All this I already did for several times... What maybe the reason of this error? Can I exclude the SD card and use eMMC instead? Is there anythi…

The image was burned on a 4gb kingston micro sd card with etcher formatted with sd formatter. So I bought another one, and I have the same identical issue. So, I started to study and I found out that I could connect to the OPi through SSH. So it what I tried to do all the night. Again image burned with e…

Hello fellow Sunxi forum members, Some may know me from previous Armbian adventures, primarily Orange Pi Zero 3... but I have jumped brands for a change of scenery (but not SoC). When researching H61X based boards for the Zero 2 and Zero 3 development we were doing in another thread, I found the Sipeed LonganPi 3H, which is a relatively new board that took a while to find. My first impressions are that is really well made, and packs a lot in to the Raspberry Pi Zero style profile (although it also has a daughter board). It was shipped quickly in a nice quality hard plastic storage case and.. best of all.. it has two hardware buttons.. so I can rese…

I unplug/plug in the power supply, and then the board correctly boot up, and I was able to log in. The wifi is working fine (I use it now), but I don't have the ethernet connection. 33. The topic is no longer new, but I have not found the reason and its solution! If you turn off the power (just pull out the wire) then you can get a non-working system. As I noticed, the files opened at the time of launch are broken. And some files such as /etc/boot/armbianEnv.txt in general, they are recorded with some kind of garbage!!! Because of this, your settings fly off! For example, I use ttys1 and this option is registered armbianEnv.txt , but after the power loss, there is just terrible garbage in this file, as if the memory dump fell there!!! For example, I still use dotnet, so it also breaks down and does not start anymore!! When y…

  35. Well, the title is self explanatory. I am trying the new stable release for the Orange PI win from armbian (thank you guys!) but when booting for the first time in headless mode via SSH through Ethernet cable it gets stuck at "Enter new UNIX password". I put the new password and nothing happens. If I unplug the cable to force the SSH server to close the connection and then I plug it back again, the password is kept the old one (default 1234) and the problem repeats. After some tests I finally got to change the password, but it gets stuck after, or even before sometimes if I reboot. It seems that the SSH tunnel is simply not stable. I should mention that the configura…

  49. Hi! I use this board since jun/2019 with Armbian 5.90 and kernel 5.1.15 (all OK except HDMI audio). In these 6 months tried to update kernel image few times, 5.2.x some months ago and now 5.5.0, but not more 1920x1080 support, the maximum is 1280x1024. Xrandr not show as supported mode anymore, whats happen? This is related to u-boot? I think can not read EDID, because no monitor model name is shown. Another question is, now in 5.5.x I can see HDMI audio device, but still can't listen, what left to be developed?

Hi Igor, while trying to reproduce/fixing my boot problem, I stumbled across some weird things regarding your new update script. I've put a complete new image on sd-card only (Armbian_4.5_Cubietruck_Ubuntu_trusty_4.2.3) which works fine, boots and reboots. Then I've tried to use your update script which I called via: wget -q -O - http://upgrade.armbian.com | bash with the letter O and a blank between the minus and http, is this correct? First strange thing I noticed is, that it starts but doesn't run through completely. It ends with this output: Don't think that this should be the normal behaviour!? And remember that this wasn't the case when I tried…

The old 0.14.0 version doesn't work well with subtitles, ending up with subtitles drawing on top of each others, when the text is moving fast. Is there any build I could download and install? Or some other workaround? Edit: Kodi draws the subtitles correctly, but it has pretty awful screen tearing. Using black bloxes instead of just some outline on the subtitles does work, but it's not an acceptable fix to me. So, it would be great it was possible to use whatever kodi uses to draw the subtitles, but then use mpv to draw the video.

I connected my computer on the first port (near the WAN one). I saw my laptop do not get an IP certainly due to the fact that LAN port seems to be manually activated. …

  56. Since updating to the (vanilla) 4.3.3 kernel, my Cubietruck has not read the real-time clock at boot time. This causes all log messages to show "Jan 1 01:00:10" until the NTP daemon kicks in. It also causes cron to remain confused about daylight savings until it is restarted. Looking at the release history at http://www.armbian.com/logbook/I see that v4.81 / 28.12.2015 includes a fix for a "Jessie RTC bug". Unfortunately it seems that this release has introduced an RTC bug! What was the fix, and is there an option I can use to reverse it? It has always worked without problem, but now we bought a new batch of SD cards and I'm facing this issue: the dd command goes succesfully and if I mount the partitions after it has finished I can see all my data, but when I boot the system sometimes I get some errors. But I have found one problem with armbian, which is very annoying: My standard Banana Pi keeps loosing the HDD Ive connected over Sata. It is a 3,5" Seagate Barracude 3TB drive formated as Ext4. It gets 5V and 12V power and runs quite perfect, as long as it has something to do. It spins up and down as I configured it. But when I leave the pi for a longer time period unattended (no workload), and the harddrive stays in spindown-mode too long, it wont identify the HDD anymore. The mount point and the /dev/sda are gone. I need to powercycle t…

  77. As soon as I installed the latest version of the Wheezy I have found that there is some problem with an USB. When I start my Orange PI I can see that USB devices are power supplied from the bus only first a few seconds (when the bootloader is active I guess) and then being switched off. When I plug an USB device and supply it externally then it seems to be working well. My question is: how to switch on power supply of the USB port on my Orange PI? I have read a number of linux forums and found nothing. Very promising seems a command echo on > /sys/bus/usb/devices/usb1/power/level or similar but unfortunately it has no effect. Any hint, guys? 82. Hello everybody. AFAIK Banana PI M1+ share the same costumed Armbian OS with Banana Pro. The Armbian can run pretty well without any changes on my Banana Pro. The problem is, with the same OS image, the on-board WiFi is not working and i can't remember what im doing (what i remember is I do something inside /boot directory), then the WiFi is detected and working properly on my Banana Pi M1+. My simple question is What is the right way to configure Armbian for Banana Pi M1+ after installation? I assume all the default configuration is for Banana Pro and we need some tweak for Banana Pi M1+ especially to enable on-board WiFi and to use GPIO properly.

I started with your current Debian image compiled with uses Armbian v8.75 and Linux kernel v4.19.20. In this image Wifi works, but loading the g_ether module does not seem to work. I assume I need to patch the kernel to make this happen, which means I need to build my own images. So I created a Virtualbox environment as described in the documentation, and compiled an image with all the defaults (apart from a date-tag I add to the kernel name for identification). I installed the image to the eMMC and b…

  84. Been trying to use a DS18B20 with the Lamobo R1 and the last ArmBian, without success. As I have already an RTC in the first pins, connected it as follows: PIN 16=GPI04 / DATA PIN 17=3.3V PIN 20=GND I also added the required resistor between 3.3V and GPI04. Add to /etc/modules w1_sunxi w1_gpio w1_therm Added to my fex file: [w1_para] w1_used = 1 gpio = 16 Modified my dts: pinctrl@01c20800 { .... my_w1_pin@0 { allwinner,pins = "PH16"; allwinner,function = "gpio_in"; allwinner,drive = <0x0>; …

  85. Hello. I have my cubietruck (cubieboard 3) configured to boot from sd card, and other files stored on hdd (sata). Few weeks ago (~15.06.2017) I updated armbian by "apt-get dist-upgrade". It worked well until I switch power off. Now it can't boot from sd card. If I remove it - boot from nand is ok. Whet sd card installed - no activity on display, just blinkin LAN port. If I boot from nand, I cat mount both SD and HDD and explore filesystem. But I can't find any logs, updated since 17.06 (time then I switch it off). My guess problem is new kernel, from 4.11.4 to 4.11.5. Please help me fix this, I can take files and content from SD and HDD, but I don…

  86. Hello, I installed ARMBIAN 5.38 stable Debian GNU/Linux 9 (stretch) 4.14.14-sunxi on H3 OpiZeroPlus2 board and temperature is 60C (just after boot, nothing is running, CPU 0.5%) Is it normal? P.S. I saw overheating problem on H2+ OPi boards, but no idea if H3 also suffers from this.

Hi, I'm using the very latest armbian build fpr orangepi+, and i'm trying to nat the network from a wireless interface to another wireless interface. My own LAN works, dns server works too, so i can connect to the orangepi+ but i can't make nat working. Is there some known issue about it, or a custom tutorial for nat with this build? thanks for help

  88. Hi, I have serious problems with the 5.25 images of armbian on a cubietruck. After a fresh install and apt-get update apt-get upgrade I get errors with : dpkg: error processing archive /var/cache/apt/archives/linux-libc-dev_4.4.0-78.99_armhf.deb (--unpack) This is for the Armbian_5.25_Cubietruck_Ubuntu_xenial_next_4.9.7 image, with other images this concerns a different package. Only Armbian_5.25_Cubietruck_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.4.113 works. After this error, the filesystem seems to be defect and is remounted ro. On another try, I removed the rmount ro on error option from the fstab and the /var/lib/dpkg directory was corrupted. …

  89. Hello, I’m from Russia, I don’t speak English well, I write a translator through Google, I hope you will understand me. My Orange Pi One Plus H6 installed different Armbian image 5.3.9 the system works well, but there is no sound via HDMI, in the pulseaudio tab of the configuration menu it says "there are no cards available for configuration". Did I understand correctly that the H6 processor does not support the audio codec, so there is no sound, or am I doing something wrong? Thanks for the answer.

  90. Well a little info, I've been using my orangepi one with an SDR dongle to track airplanes with flightradar24 for the last few months. My intentions were to use a POE adapter and run the board outside near the antenna at one point. I have now received the final parts and went to move it today. It has been running flawlessly for a month with my POE adapter off of a switch near my PC in my shop. I now plan on connecting it to the main switch on my LAN. So previously my setup was: Router -> switch -> long ethernet to shop -> swtich -> orangepione now I want to run it: Router -> switch -> long ethernet to outside -> orangepione But for some reason…

  94. Greetings to all, Preamble: Thanks to all that have worked to make the Armbian project what it is today. It is greatly appreciated! I have done numerous hours of reading and searching (due diligence). I know I could run a benchmarks and all but that means even more delay reaching the objective. Some brief guidance from those who have gone before would save a lot of time and would be greatly appreciated. Looking at the datasheets wasn't real helpful in guesstimating optimum performance configuration - especially since there are so many other factors that have an impact. Background: My objective is to achieve a reliable, long lif…

  98. Hello there! Its nice to meet everyone and thank you so much for having me! I have this great project i'm working on involving 30 orange pi zeros. You see SD cards are expensive when you need to buy 30 of them so I have been trying for about a month now to make armbian work without the SD card. The idea is to boot into the os get a few things running and then remove the card and boot another pi. I have tried creating a ramfs mount and copying/mounting (what I believe are) all the requirements and then using chroot. But that doesnt work at all. I'm imagining that outside of chroot services are still running and once they cant write to some file…
