Hello, my BananaPi M1 sometimes just stops working. The maximum uptime is 5 days. Usually the time is shorter. The system simply hangs. I can no longer access the system via SSH. When I connect a monitor to HDMI, nothing is displayed, so I can log in. I have connected an external hard drive that is self-powered. I know the stories with the power supply. I have run ' stress -c 2 -m 1 '. The system remains stable. Hi all. I'm new, so don't hit too hard. I'm interested in how the NAS Dock for NanoPi Neo2 is defined in the system. I want to install OpenWRT, because I need a NanoPi based router. Armbian seems to me too complicated for such tasks. If you put OpenWRT on NEO2, then NAS Dock is not detected in the system. At that time Armbian determines, I can easily open the HDD or connect devices to the dock's USB port. Please tell me. Which module or driver is responsible for the dock to be defined in the system? The Openwrt forum has not yet been able to help me, so I'm writing here. Help as you can. Скрытый текст Привет всем. Я новичо…

I have set up a server on a nanopi-r2s running Armbian version 5.15.25-rockchip64. It all works fine apart from one thing: while other devices can successfully use BIND on the server, the server itself cannot find the local BIND. If I type in this command host device.localdomain 127.0.0.1 it returns the following: device.localdomain has address 192.168.0.20 192.168.0.20 is the correct address for device.localdomain from the local BIND. If I omit the 127.0.0.1 from the command, it does not find the correct address.: device.localdomain has address 36.86.63.182 device.localdomain has address 36.86.63.182 Host device.localdomain not …

I have Armbian 22.02 Bullseye installed on my Orange Pi zero. The wifi connection worked fine at first, but after a few reboots the device 'wlan0' seems to no longer exist. In the Armbian-config settings the entry wifi is no longer present and also in ifconfig wlan0 is no longer displayed. I have now reflushed the system 3 times and always have the same problem.

I'm using a NanoPi Neo as Homegear gateway. This requires the SPI interface (/dev/spidev0.0). Yesterday I ran apt-get upgrade, which bumped my kernel from 5.10.60 to 5.15.25. No other changes have been done, Since then no SPI devices are created anymore and the gateway fails! I tried to downgrade the kernel already using armbian-config to 21.08 5.10.60-sunxi. But that reported an error (do not remember the text; was very late) and left the Nano unbootable. I could restore the 5.15.25 kernel by manually editing the zImage symbolic link in /boot. Using param_spidev_spi_bus=1 instead of 0 does not help. …

When I login on the console, there is this display with a bunch of information, including the CPU temp. I have need to keep track of my CPU's temp, since it seems to be overheating (I have a heat sink on it, but does not seem to be enough -- I have a fan on order). I want to be able to check the temp from time to time, so I would like to run at least the part of the login banner program. What program is that? I am not seeing anything obvious in /bin.

I have tried 3 Orange Pi 3 images on my orange Pi 3 LTS. None of them will mount the root fs and continue booting. It shows btrfs, but the partition is ext4 and the armbianEnv.txt file has the correct UUID and ext4 stated. I can boot an image from the OrangePi website, so I am 99% certain it is not the power supply or sd card.

Hi, After upgrading linux-image-current-sunxi64 package from 21.08.1 to 22.02.1, bringing kernel version 5.15.25, the CPU temperature raised abnormaly on my olimex teres board. Temperature is above 60°C at startup, whithout any activity or load average. The issue persists with latest 5.16.16 kernel from linux-image-edge-sunxi64 package. I noticed temp at startup around 30°C with 5.4.88-sunxi64 kernel, 40°C with 5.10.60-sunxi64 kernel and above 60°C with 5.15+ kernels. Does anyone have cpu temp issue with 5.15+ kernels ?

When i first tried out my orange pi prime in october 2020 i thought i recalled that the wifi worked. With a current armbian image, the wifi can't authenticate. I tried several of the available kernel images. I'm sure that the wpa2 password is correct because I control the router and other devices connect all the time. If i plug in an ath9x usb wifi dongle, that is able to connect, so it would appear to be an issue with the onboard rtl8723bs driver.

Hi all After update kernel from 5.10.60 to 5.15 or 5.16 on my Orange PI PC+ MJPEG-Streamer throws: motion throws: I tried to decrease resolution - even 320x240 not helps. Rolling back to 5.10.60 helps, but it's not very sustainable solution. Are there any known solution for 5.15-5.16?

Last night I downloaded "https://dl.armbian.com/orangepiplus2e/Debian_buster_next.7z" (OPi+2E) ... burned it to SD card and fired up the board ..later installed desktop and other software ...BUT when I was installing MPV I observed that few files with "Vulcan" in their names were also installed...so does that mean that mainline next 4.19.xx images for H3 are now fully suitable for multimedia desktops with Hardware graphics/Video acceleration fully supported ?

Hello, Since a week I try moving the OS on the sdcard to an attached SSD. OS: Armbian 5.65 Ubuntu Xenial 3.4.113 desktop Because the BPIM1 has a genuime SATA interface it should work. I have found dozens of tutorials how to do this. Until now I did not find any tutorial that works. Of course I started with nand-install expecting this would work out of the box. But after the install and rebooting I got the notification that it couldn't find the ssd. I guess I have to change something in the bootloader on the sdcard? (I am not a Linux expert but an enthustiastic Linux user) Is there any working tutorial including the final…

Hi all, The plot thickens. This is only an issue when eth0 is given an IPv6 address by my home router. If i disable IPv6 at home my problem goes away. I am having some issues getting wireguard to play the game. I have a fresh Armbian Focal 22.02 install on a NanoPi Neo. The problem is that the wirguard interface comes up, then traffic doesn't flow., not even to the other side of the wireguard link (10.66.0.1). tcpdmping on the other side of the connection shows no packets at all coming into the far ends 51820. Stopping wireguard on both sides and using netcat via UDP and TCP I can see the traffic I expect. I can also use my Android mobile phone and…

Hi forum, I ran an apt-get upgrade a few days back and here linux-image-current-sunxi:armhf was updated from 21.05.6 to 21.08.2 After reboot my SATA was gone. There was nothing in the logs which would have indicated that something is wrong. After I reverted back to 21.05.6 apt-get install linux-image-current-sunxi=21.05.6 apt-get install armbian-firmware=21.05.8 apt-get install linux-dtb-current-sunxi=21.05.6 everything worked again. Has anyone experienced something similar ? Regards Volker

Hello. I have a small problem: I can't change the language on my OPi Zero. I have successfully done that with OPi Lite 2 and OPi 3, but for some reason on the Zero when I go to change it, the module fails to load and just quits back to the same "menu page". (essentially does nothing). The only thing I can think of, is that both of the other boards have 1Gb RAM and this only has 512Mb and thus it runs out of memory? That doesn't sound too plausible though - a list of keyboard languages shouldn't take tens or hundreds of megs of RAM. As far as I know, each board is running the same version of Armbian, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Creating a wireless access point through armbian-config fails in the new 22.02 release for the popular TP-Link TL-WN725N USB Wifi Dongle. I am raising it here because it worked previously on 21.08. I have tracked it down to be related to a driver change. Release version 22.02 uses the r8188eu and in fact this is one of the drivers the Hotspot configuration actually warns you about. Could this commit be related? In order to overcome this I have downloaded the official TP Link driver sources. but failed to compile them because headers are missing (even after using armbian-config to install headers). I have also followed the official documentation to learn about…

I am really confused about how to connect an LVDS monitor to the board. We used 3.x legacy kernel and used a .fex file for this in the past. But it is time to move to mainline, and it is confusing me. Since LVDS is not plug and play, we need to tell the parameters of the screen somehow. That is clear. I found several ways of pushing parameters to the system: 1. Compile into kernel 2. Compile into U-boot 3. Device Tree 4. Device Tree Overlay 5. Kernel command line According to these articles i have to compile them into U-boot: https://forum.armbian.com/topic/1905-enabling-lcd-in-u-boot-kernel-472/ ht…

Hi, is this the right place to ask about support to configure a dtb overlay? I created a .dts file for my ILI9341 TFT display which is connected to a cubietruck running armbian. most of it I copied from the internet and adapted my changed (pin configuration and spi device). Previously I my configuration was done in a fex file and also created a pcb to connect the display to the cubietruck. Hello Igor, first of all thank you very much for your efforts. I used Armbian in the past and wanted install some up-to-date version. However this fails/hangs independent of selected OS either at 'armbian-resize-filesystem' or 'Flush Journal to persistent storage'. The first boot may take some >15min if succeeds. However i can't login after as it accepts no keyboard input. I started testing upwards from very old version (sorry, i downloaded many and only few by Torrent, but i did send you some donation to cover this). Up to Armbian_20.08.2_xxx_5.8.6 it works well, irrespective of debian/ubuntu flavor. So, the bug came with Armbian_20.11…

Hi, Are there any news on if Armbian will be on the new H5 64bit board? Orange released an Android SDK and an Android image but I guess everyone is waiting for a decent 64bit Debian. Since took the plunge and got into the H5 wagon ordering one, I looked at the released info and obviously there was nothing I could use myself.. So the question goes to the Armbian gurus, guys do you think that there could be an Armbian release for H5 this year? Christos

Hi, I had until yesterday an Armbian version from a year ago on the board, until then I never had problems with my network (WiFi). Yesterday I had then made an apt update + upgrate. After that, however, I suddenly had the problem that some access points are no longer found. This is so that my access point (Fritzbox), my mobile hotspot from smartphone (Samsung) and a network of a neighbor is no longer found. Other access points are still found, so there are still WiFi access points available but I can no longer find mine. Now I have installed the latest version today and still the same problem. Manual entry unfortunately brings nothing because the connecti…

Hi, I was trying to use OrangePi One to add a filter to my USB camera, so that I can apply some image processing to the original input image. The original project uses raspberrypi: https://github.com/likeablob/rpi-wfh-webcam It captures the image from a USB Camera, then applys some image processing on Raspberry Pi. Lastly, it creates a virtual camera that sends the output image to the PC. I would like to achieve the same effect using OrangePi One (Armbian), and the only problem left is to simulate a virtual camera using the USB Gadget. What I tried: $ sudo modprobe g_webcam musb-hdrc.4.aut…

Good day Armbian Forums! I'm having some trouble with builds of Armbian (up to and including 21.08.6 | kernel 5.10.60-sunxi) seeing wireless access points that are configured to channels 12 & 13 on my Orange Pi Zero Plus2 boards (H3 + 256mb RAM). Specifically, the default Android image (a generic Chinese-language Android multimedia system) that's loaded onto these boards can see and connect to access points that have been set to all channels (1-13) successfully, but any Armbian image I have tried fails to see anything (and subsequently cannot connect) to routers on channels 12 & 13. Due to the nature of this, I believe it may be a region setting or dri…

Good morning, I have a NanoPi Neo core where I am trying to use the usb ports (USB1, USB2 and USB3), the first thing to say is that all usbhost is active in armbian-config. The system does not recognize me anything in any of the 3, not a pendrive, or Wi-Fi or anything. If I go to armbian-config, I see that the DTB system that has loaded is that of the NanoPi air, I do not know if it can influence. USB devices receive power when connected. Any idea if I have to activate something else or modify the DTB or something? I have tried adding to armbianEnv.txt this line at the end fdtfile = sun8i-h3-nanopi-neo.dtb but nothing. Thanks and best r…

Short issue description: sometimes after pulling a USB device out it makes OPi3 USB host controller stuck. One or more USB ports are getting unresponsive (sometimes all four of them) and no messages in dmesg about connection/disconnection. No matter what device is used. This thing happens only on the first host controller, the second rear one is functioning and responsive. It happens more often if we push in and pull out four devices in a short period of time. Wherein /sys/kernel/debug/usb/devices is stuck too, we cannot read the info from it and all the utils (vi, cat, etc.) are getting the D state (uninterruptible sleep). "lsusb" is also not working, but can b…

Hi, I thought I'd share this in case anyone else is in the same situation as I. I've been trying to get my Orange Pi Lite to boot the latest (Aug 26 2021) images. I've tried Focal, Bullseye and Hirsute, and the Lite doesn't seem to care for any of them. "Armbian_21.02.1_Orangepilite_buster_current_5.10.12_desktop" from the Archive section does boot, as do the versions of Ubuntu and Debian from the Orange Pi website. Perhaps if I had a serial terminal connected I would be able to troubleshoot this, but I don't yet. I'm using a Sandisk Ultra A1 64Gb and I'm monitoring my power supply with my oscilloscope and haven't noticed any dips belo…

I'am running the latest Stretch server version on a PiOne (Linux 4.14.65-sunxi). I think that something is going wrong with the logrotate. The rotation is done in /var/log.hdd directory (see also the scripts in /etc/logrotate.d/). But the original file of each is in /var/log directory and is not "cleared" after the rename, because it is not renamed. So, if Zram copies /var/log directory to the /var/log.hdd directory, the original file in /var/log with old logging and included new logging is written to the /var/log.hdd directory. In the next logrotate this growing file is compressed. In this situation/in my case the compressed files contains all the loggings and no…

Because I'm a glutton for punishment, I decided to test a bunch of PCDuino3 images. Hopefully this will be helpful for someone. Feel free to double-check my work. 3.X kernels work perfect. 4.11-4.14 no HDMI Audio 4.19-5.8 there's a bug where the console won't show up if you connect a high resolution screen. It complains about not enough memory reserved for the frame buffer. So if you have a blank screen, it's possibly working, but you just can't see anything. Also, still no HDMI audio even though it's built into the kernel. 5.9-current hangs at "Starting Kernel" showing in the serial port.

I know, using an old Banana Pi M1 for desktop doesn't make sense at all. I would prefer having help or/and advice clearing the problems I've encountered, instead a discussion why I'm testing a desktop environment on a BPi M1. Tested with Armbian 21.08.01 Buster / 5.10.60 After the initial boot nano or / and armbian-config doesn't work. A reboot solves this issue. After the second boot I changed verbosity to 7 and console to serial. All other changes where made throu armbian-config. Changing Pi's name works, but changing console's layout doesn't. Never mind, that is a minor problem, which can easily solved by hand. So I did "firmware upgrade" and rebooted m…

This is a simple one, but the most annoying. The only Linux distribution I can not get to work in the Armbian on the Banana Pro. Sandisk 32Gb Class 10 MicroSD card. A USB power supply that does supply sufficient power and current. I write the image to the MicroSD card, insert it into the Banana Pro's card holder, power it up, the red LED lights up and ................. that's where it stops. No heartbeat on the green LED. The one thing I notice is that the image I download has only got one partition on it and that's the ext4 partition. It does not have the small FAT formatted partition and I think this is where it all goes wrong. …

There is a patched version that enables noscan=1 , but the one I'm using seems like it hasn't been patched. When there is no AP's around HT40 kicks in ok without noscan=1. With noscan=1 and AP's are around hostapd won't even start in HT20 mode. Hello guys, I've been playing around with the build-in lima drivers but didn't get it to work on BananaPro using Armbian_20.02.1_Bananapipro_buster_current_5.4.20_desktop image. I installed drivers armsoc, modesetting, fbdev from debian buster repos but "Xorg -configure" fails. /var/log/Xorg.0.log says: and and generated xorg.conf: Any suggestions what I am doing wrong? regards

Hello, I have problems with the u-boot both with the prebuild "Armbian_21.05.1_Nanopineo_buster_current_5.10.34" image from the armbian.com and with the "Armbian_21.08.0-trunk_Nanopineo_buster_current_5.10.59_minimal" image built form sources . First of all, the u-boot versions are different. The prebuilt image has "U-Boot 2021.04-armbian" and the second one - "2020.10" The board boots ok with the both images, but the u-boot does not see the SD card properly and is not able to load the environment file from it: "Loading Environment from FAT... Card did not respond to voltage select! : -110" Is there any fix for this problem? Thanks, …

I‘m using an OrangePi Lite with the intent to display a 4kp30 video to a 4k TV over hdmi. from reading through the forums I saw that mainline kernel does not support video acceleration - is this information current? after installing the Xenial Image with 3.4 kernel I manage to play 1440p video smoothly two ways with mpv: - windowed if display resolution is set to 4k -fullscreen if display resolution is set to 1080p if I try to run the 1440p video at 4k display resolution in fullscreen, the app crashes with messages about ‚not enough resources to create surface‘ and the framebuffer stays corrupted after that and I have t…

(Finally this forum lets me enter a new topic. It's failing most of the time, making it really hard to solve my actual problem if the infrastructure also fails.) I'm using an Orange Pi Zero board and try to make it talk to a radio module via SPI. The whole thing already works on a Raspberry Pi so the module and cabling is correct. But the module doesn't respond to requests on the Orange Pi. Since this doesn't do anything, I searched for issues like this and along the way found an SPI loopback tool. I tried it and it returned all zeros. The tool readme suggests that the MOSI and MISO pins are not connected, but they are. I checked and resoldered those pins and …

Hello, I’m from Russia, I don’t speak English well, I write a translator through Google, I hope you will understand me. My Orange Pi One Plus H6 installed different Armbian image 5.3.9 the system works well, but there is no sound via HDMI, in the pulseaudio tab of the configuration menu it says "there are no cards available for configuration". Did I understand correctly that the H6 processor does not support the audio codec, so there is no sound, or am I doing something wrong? Thanks for the answer.

Hi, I have ten orange-pi pc plus with Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS with Linux 5.10.43-sunxi burned onto emmc, and twenty orange-pi pc plus with Focal 21.05.6 with Linux 5.10.43-sunxi burned onto emmc. In an attempt to provoke the same issues we have with Xenial on these boxes, I have all of them rebooting (shutdown -r now) once every 10 minutes. They have all been under test for several days. They are all connected to a LAN backbone, but the LAN is not connected to the internet, so whilst they may be attempting to do unattended upgrades, for example, they are all failing. This is a deliberate part of the test. Of the twenty Focal 21 boxes none have failed. …
