  1. Hi! I use this board since jun/2019 with Armbian 5.90 and kernel 5.1.15 (all OK except HDMI audio). In these 6 months tried to update kernel image few times, 5.2.x some months ago and now 5.5.0, but not more 1920x1080 support, the maximum is 1280x1024. Xrandr not show as supported mode anymore, whats happen? This is related to u-boot? I think can not read EDID, because no monitor model name is shown. Another question is, now in 5.5.x I can see HDMI audio device, but still can't listen, what left to be developed?

  2. Started by Occhioverde,

Hi there! I just received three decommissioned BananaPI M1+ from a company and I'm trying to install the latest version of Armbian Buster available on them. Once I flash the image to the SD card (tested and working fine), however, the board goes into boot loop as per the video. The only error that seems to be displayed is "EHCI failed to shut down host controller". If it can be useful to find the cause, I point out that the problem occurs with both Armbian Buster and Armbian Focal regardless of the presence of the "fdtfile=sun7i-a20-bananapi-m1-plus.dtb" line in the /boot/armbianEnv.txt file. What do you think I could do to solve it? Thank you all in advance.

  3. Started by IgorS,

I have seen many tutorials about connecting real time clock hardware on Orange Pi and Raspberry Pi. What i didn't like was removing of fake-hwclock service, because I want that RTC works when it is connected, and fake-hwclock when RTC is not connected. Therefore, I changed /sbin/fake-hwclock script to work in this way. So, here is how to do this, tested on OrangePi+2E, Armbian Ubuntu legacy kernel: Purchase cheap DS3231 module on eBay (cca. $1) like this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/DS3231-AT24C32-IIC-Modul-High-Precision-Real-Time-Clock-Module-Arduino-New-/292041844936?hash=item43ff0ce8c8:g:d80AAOSwdGFYtsFP Put battery in module. 4. Started by data,

In an effort to enable Bluetooth on the OrangePi (Lite2 | 3) I am stuck at enabling UART1 via overlay. According to the schematics, the AP6255 is connected via UART1 (PG6-PG9) to the H6 SoC but not defined in the dtb. Since there is a dtbo which looks promising at /boot/dtb/allwinner/overlay/sun50i-h6-uart1.dtbo I tried adding an overlay to /boot/armbianEnv.txt - manually and via armbian-config. Both did not work out. In addition, I also tried adding uart1 to the dtb, without success. What am I missing?

For the second time within about 4 weeks my cubietruck is not coming up anymore after a sudo apt upgrade and reboot. Is there something systematically breaking? I think it is the initramfstools that is breaking it? Now, I have no radio, alarm-clock and I cannot turn on my coffee-maker over the internet and I will probably have to spend a day etching a new SD card etc. I bought a new SD card last time this happened since I figured ist would be related to that, now I think it is a software thing. I use the cubietruck headless over ssh and have no real video output, just audio. I also need to do some cumbersome operations t…

  7. I have tried the image for Buster from the Download page for OrangePi PC Plus, and also built new images from current Git repo. In all cases the device bootloops when it tries to start the kernel. The image from the OrangePi website works ok. This looks like a similar issue as experienced recently with CubieTruck and BananaPi A20 boards (https://armbian.atlassian.net/browse/AR-749) which was fixed with a workaround (https://github.com/armbian/build/pull/2963) Is it possibly the same / similar underlying problem?

  8. Hi I trying to return in work OPi+2e board but faced some odd thing. When I trying to boot Armbian I getting temperatures about 180C which leads to shutdown during booting. It reproduceable with all versions from hirsute/5.12.15 back to oldest avaliable bionic/5.4.8 Official Ubuntu xenial/5.3.5 works fine, but /sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp gives negative readings (like about -76500) Installed on eMMC old RetrOrangePi which is Armbian jessie/3.4.113 also works but gives zero (exactly 0) temp reading. Finger test gives "room temperature" reading and "warm" while old OS works. Definetly not 180C Board itself is from 2017, worked a…

  9. I own an orange pi PC PLUS for about a year and when I got it, I tested it and it worked fine when it booted up from the internal MMC, then I tried to make a server and I think I messed up something with the LAMP I was trying to make so I stashed the PI to play with it later. Now when I turn on the PI, it only loops and never loads the OS, so I downloaded Focal and buster from this link and burned them to an SD and it also loops in this screen, https://imgur.com/WzikUoo what could be wrong? my idea is to reinstall the OS to the internal MMC so I can then install home assistant. thanks in advanced.

  10. Hi, I bought nanopi_neo boards (for my hobby projects). I am learning about security. I am able to dump e-Fuse area at uboot stage. But i can't modify it (i want to write my own key). I don't have any memory map information of e-fuse. In present boards, bootROM is not verifying the uboot signature(RSA sign:-)). 1) How to enable signature verification in bootROM? 2) Is there any code or information regarding BootROM security and e-Fuse area mapping? 3) Is there any support of TEE (Trusted execution environment)?

  13. Hi, I have been running Armbian on OrangePi Lite for more than a year just fine. Then I decided to upgrade and flashed the latest version. Now with the latest version the device looses wifi every few days no matter which wifi device I use. In order to investigate I have plugged additional USB wifi. Some time both wifi work. Then built-in may disconnect and stop working, but USB keeps working. Or vice versa, USB stops working, but the built in keeps working. I have been able to send syslog to an external machine and here what it showed Connection works fine: The next day one of the connections stops working and…

  15. As we know, the PCIe on H6 is buggy, which doesn't offer linear address, and Linux cannot support such kind of configuration. However, the Cortex-A53 cores used by H6 supports virtualization, which can be used to change the order of the address space. Recently, I tried to make use of virtualization to provide linear mapping of PCIe, and I succeed in making an Intel 6205 wireless card working. The hypervisor code is at https://github.com/Icenowy/aw-el2-barebone . It's intended to start before U-Boot, and located at 0x40010000. Numlock is stuck... Just tried again with compositor disabled. It does take a bit longer before it blocks. But it still happens about a minute in every time. I can't find a ttl adapter for better debugging. I'll order new ones. Both the OPi3 (bionic 5.4) and PineH64(bionic 5.3) have the same issue. I'm using self …

  19. Hello, for my BananaPi I recently downloaded "Armbian_21.05.1_Bananapi_buster_current_5.10.34.img" and did not get the on-board CAN controller working with this image. I found out that in sun7i-a20-bananapi.dtb (uses sun7i-a20.dtsi) the group name for the CAN pins PH20 and PH21 has changed from "can0_pins_a" to "can_ph_pins" but in the sun7i-a20-can overlay this change had not been done accordingly, and the DT merging failed. So changing "sun7i-a20-can.dts" to: /dts-v1/; /plugin/; / { compatible = "allwinner,sun7i-a20"; fragment@0 { target = <&can0>; __overlay__ { pinctrl-names = "default"; pinctrl-0 = <&can_…

  21. Greetings, after a long time I am playing with my old Banana Pi Pro again. This time with the intention to probably use it on IoT purposes. That implies I only need WIFI and the GPIO pins. Which gives some opportunity to save power by powering down every thing else which is not needed. My first approach here is to strip down everything from the device tree I don´t need. That means everything related to: framebuffer hdmi lcd sata display engine ethernet video codec usb ir gpu/mali That resulted in a drop in power consumption in idle from: ~0.990 - ~1.330W to: ~0.700 - ~1.000W …

    Started by Guest,

I usually attach a GPS module to OrangePi One to act as a GPS ntp server . GPS serial data can use any UART port. but PPS pulse can use PA7 or UART_RTS, I most connect to PA7, works very well. Recently I bought a GPS modules for Rasberry Pi, it connect the PPS to pin 12, in One it's PD14 But when I set param_pps_pin=PD14 in armbianEnv.txt , it can't work at all . see /sys/kernel/debug/gpio , there is no GPIO 110 (PD14) at all. So don't use PD14 as a PPS pulse input.

  48. Hello. I have the following problem with my Orange Pi PC: When I turn it on, only the green and orange LEDs of the ethernet port are flashing. There is no output on the HDMI port. I have already tried different microSD cards and different images. It used to work perfectly, but all of a sudden it stopped working. Maybe an issue with the power supply (it is the offical power supply 5V 3A DC jack).

  52. I have a NanoPi Neo Core and I'd like to analyse the SPI controller driver and why it toggles the lines the way it does. In the overlay file, all I see are mentions to 'spidev'. Where can I find out why the data lines shown below toggle the way they do? I.e. chip select goes low way before the clock line. The MISO line has a droop to GND briefly and the CLK line hangs high for a while before toggling... Thanks forum :). YELLOW: CS PURPLE: MOSI BLUE: MISO GREEN: CLK EDIT: I'm sending two bytes, 0xDA, 0x00 at spi mode 3. Ignore the decoder, it was set to read LSB first.

  55. Hello After a couple of years, I took my "ancient" OrangePi board and found it working well with Ubuntu 18.04 (kernel 3.14.113). And I even did distr update to 20.04. So HW is ok. I found that Armibian support status of OrangiPi is changed to "Supported" and decided to try the latest image with modern kernel "Armbian_21.02.1_Bananapi_focal_current_5.10.12_desktop.img.xz" (shared image between OrangePi and BananaPi). XFCE desktop was loaded but USB was not working. And that was the known mismatch between OrangePi and BananaPi HW conguration. So I updated "/boot/armbianEnv.txt" with "fdtfile=sun7i-a20-orangepi.dtb". But after that video became OFF…

  56. Hi there. I use Orange Pi zero as home print server. It works for few months for now and I am very pleased with that. Although, my printer falls into deep sleep after printing (it's Brother HL-1110EW) and cannot be woken up by the server. I have to start printer manually to print next printouts. Thus I wanted to install tea4cups to drive a relay turning the printer on and off when needed. I installed the WiringOP-zero (from here: https://github.com/xpertsavenue/WiringOP-Zero) but then strange things become to happen. I connected temporarily a LED diode to indicate the changes of the GPIO. (GPIO-7 and GND). The LED is on all the time, no matter what command I se…

  57. Hey guys, I've spent the last couple of weeks trying to get a TFT display with touch screen to work on my Orange Pi PC board, and I've decided to share my step-by-step solution here. This tutorial is heavily based on Guide: How to use Touchscreen + LCD on H3 devices by Kutysam, but I had to do some extra steps for it to work properly. This tutorial is only for Mainline kernel, I was able to get the graphical screen working with Kutysam's guide for Legacy, but couldn't make the touch work. First of all this is the display I'm using: LCD module Pi TFT 3.5 inch (320*480) Touchscreen Display Module TFT for Raspberry Pi 3. I believe it is a clone of this Waveshare…

  59. Hi, I am having a hard time getting Armbian to boot on my Cubietruck. I have recorded some serial output but it does not show anything helpfull (at least for me). It just stopps at "Starting kernel". Verbosity is set to 7. Serial output 21.02.3 https://pastebin.com/DMWRzTgn Serial output 21.02.1 https://pastebin.com/a9Hasywc I tried the same SD-card and power supply with Arch for ARM. Arch boots fine. Serial output Arch Linux: https://pastebin.com/bMPf3gfx What further options do I have to debug this? As I am not really familiar with Arch I'd rather run a Debian / Ubuntu based OS. Best regards, Albert

  60. Just flashed Armbian 20.11.9 for NanoPi Neo 2 with kernel 5.10.4. I have run armbian-config to install kernel 5.10.4 source, but there is no any option for 5.10.x kernel sources, I see only options for 5.8.x and 5.9.x.

  61. I found that it is not easy to use the Dallas one-wire temperature sensors and the composite TV-Out on the Banana Pi with the current Armbian version. I have searched for posts on these topics in the forum. The posts that I have found in this forum describe solutions for outdated Armbian versions or do not give enough detail. The following posts in this thread will describe how to solve these problems for the current Armbian version for the Banana Pi M1.

  62. Hi everyone ! I'm starting this new dedicated thread because I've got some new headache about this issue that we tried to figured out since months... I've received my PineH64 last week, and with this board I don't faced the reboot hang behaviour ! Today, since I've committed the OPi3 WIP scripts, and facing same reboot hang, I've decided to to try booting PineH64 image on this OPi3 board, but unfortunately reboot hang still occurs ... This brings me to a conclusion that it is not a software issue, but maybe hardware one ... I will dig on that during next few days by comparing PMIC and other between all those boards ... …

  63. Having invested many, many hours getting the video out to work on my recently purchased Orange Pi Zero kit, I'd like to leave this heads up for the next person having trouble with video out. In my case, none of the advice I could find in this forum or elsewhere seemed to make any difference. If you find yourself in a similar situation, here are some things you should know. The latest Armbian images for the OrangePi Zero enable composite video out by default. It should just work. (Well at least the Ubuntu image -- I never actually verified Debian Jesse worked after I fixed my expansion board.) You should NOT need to fiddle with /etc/modules or .fex files. Altho…

Hello. From moment when i flashed armbian to SD card and boot it up on Banana Pi M1, random reboots started to show. Ya'll should know that i'm hosting Plex and Tautulli on that. It's pretty much handling these servers without big problems but i'm constantly getting these random reboots. Well, i looked into /var/log/syslog to see what is happening. It looks like before every booting session there's cron job couple of hours before reboot. Maybe that's the reason? I can post whole syslog here from jan 5 till feb 2.

The screen, keyboard, network, everything is frozen after less than a minute. I downgraded to a release from a month ago and it boots up correctly.

Hi, Did anybody play with Cedrus on the recent kernels? I'm going to play with it on Bananapi m1, kernel 5.4 and Ubuntu Bionic. Should I just got step-by-step using this instructions http://linux-sunxi.org/Sunxi-Cedrus ? The goal is to evaluate whether this is suitable solution for video surveillnace. I'd used kerberosio with an IP camera for couple years and this does not work good with motion detection.

  98. Hi Armbians In the last years I had the pleasure to have more then 30 Cubietruck boards in my hands to work with. Condition of the boards ranged from "new and still sealed" to "working but has been running for some months 24/7 alraedy". In this time, I learned a lot about this hardware and I learned that none of them seems to be 100% like any other of them. While one board crushes immediately when the power input goes under 5V for some secounds, another board in the same condition, same CT version and production date seems not to care about this and keeps working. One of the most important points for stability is the network plug used. So what netwo…
