Hi all, I have this Amlogic S905x2 (ddr3l) android tv box which I'm trying to boot Armbian on. Firstly, I was having issue with the default bootloader always booting into android, no matter if I used the sd card or usb. So then I lifted the emmc chip, in hope that it will then choose to boot from the sd card. However, I failed to notice that BL2 is stored in the emmc, and as you guessed, I need BL2 to boot into linux. Now I've read that you can use USB burning tool to send and start BL2 from RAM. However, I've no idea what to do next and what file am I even supposed to send via the USB Burning tool. I would be very thankful …

I have found my old Media-Player and I will use them for a special task. It´s labeled "MK808B Plus" OpenELEC 5.95.5.2 is installed. Now I will run Armbian_5.67_Aml-s805_Ubuntu_bionic_default_3.10.108_desktop_20181207 from @Balbes150. I use the meson8b_mk808bplus.btb. But the WLAN is not working. For the first run I have change the "armbian_first_run.txt" the value "FR_net_wifi_enabled=1" How can I use the WLAN? How can I make a new "fresh" run that the "armbian_first_run.txt" is execute? How can I put the armbian to the NAND?

Armbian_5.77_Aml-s812_Ubuntu_bionic_default_3.10.108_20190326.img After the above version is installed, the startup screen will be blurred, how can I solve it? Hi, I'm new to the Armbian community, but I have used Linux before. Recently, I followed this tutorial: https://i12bretro.github.io/tutorials/0316.html to flash Armbian 20.10 Bullseye on what I suspect is a fake TX3 Mini. It has a red motherboard probably not a p-281 board, it could be a q201_N device as twrp said before installing Armbian. Anyways, Armbian detects 1 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage in it. It most likely has either an S905X or S912 CPU since I used "u-boot-s905x-s912" during the process. After flashing the SD card with Armbian, I was able to boot successfully. I then installed Armbian using the terminal with "inst…

Hi guys, I try to install Armbian on my Amlogix G11pro (S509X2 based) TV Gamebox. It keeps booting only into my Emuelec SD card, if I plug it or with anyhting else it only boots into Android that is on eMMC. I understood that I have to use the toothpic method to press the reset button to get into the recovery mode. I tried this but failed as my toothpic didnt reach anything I could click, it just went through. so I opened the box and found that behind the audio jack there is nothing (see attached pic). there is empty space with three connectors on the board, maybe that is the place where usually the micro switch for the reset button sits, but I am not sure. I have successfully booted armbian 20.10 bullseye 5.9.0 on a tx 3 mini powered by an S905W chip. I am trying to control the diplay on the front and while searching for answers came across this openvfd library for the tx 3 mini. I've followed the instructions but to no avail have succeeded in controlling the display. One key difference i've noticed, is that the controller on the board is an FD6551 model, as opposed to the standard FD628. After some reading I came to the conclusion that FD655 is supported, so i'm under the impression that this library should support my board (picture below). When following the install instructions from the openvfd library, I m…

Hi all, I have some x905 boxes and I'd like to use one (an old TX95 -> x905w IIRC) as a midi sequencer with fluidsynth. I found the hard way that the default kernel has no midi sequencer support (in kernel or module) so there's no way to use aconnect and have it as a midi box. The only solution seems to be rebuild the kernel with the added module support but it's been decades since last time i rebuilt a kernel and S905 kernels (with added balbes150 mods and stuff to have it working on those cheap boxes) seems a bit too complex for me. So the question is: is there a way to get a working kernel with midi support, and how to put it in. If this was…

I not sure if this is right but I'm facing some issues when trying to install armbian in my TX3, I burned and image with balenaEtcher in my sdcard but always says kernel panic or mainline 'bootfromsd is not defined' when booting armbian. I’ve been testing Armbian on an Amlogic-based TV box, and wanted to share a short user experience. The device originally runs Android, but thanks to the Amlogic S9xx platform, it can boot Armbian from an SD card without touching the internal firmware. In my case, the system booted reliably and was usable for basic tasks like SSH access, light services, and general Linux testing. Ethernet and USB worked out of the box, while Wi-Fi and power management still required some manual tweaks, which seems common for community-supported TV boxes. For reference, the hardware I used belongs to the category of Amlogic TV boxes that are widely available on the m…

Hello, I'm new to ARMBIAN, a very poor linux user, but I think I can handle myself. I have a X96 Max Plus android TVBox, and I want to put it on a remote place with home assistant and be able to access it with teamviewer. I've managed to make all this. So I thought of installing a desktop platform on armbian that there I can install a browser, so I'm then able to access the place router if needed and also home assistant web interface. Hi, I have an old Android 6 TV box that is slow (1GB ram), i think it's an S905 because it's the only kernel that can boot and its mainboard is a "gxbb p200" as I see on Aida64 : I just tried to boot the Armbian_community_24.8.0-trunk.139_Aml-s9xx-box_bookworm_current_6.6.33_minimal.img I flashed it on a 16GB microSD card on an SD card adapter. Good morning all, I share my Armbian experience on the Beelink GT-King Pro, and therefore after several tests where the system often ended up frozen, I currently have a stable armbian system running. Hello guys! I have a T95Z Plus TV BOX with 3GB RAM, 32GB ROM, and an arm S912 CPU. I can run Armbian just fine from the SD card, but when I try to install it on the eMMC, I get an error message saying something like, "You're already running from eMMC, or the eMMC was not found." And, obviously, I'm not running from eMMC, so it seems like the system just isn't detecting it. I did some research, and it seems like there might be different eMMC manufacturers for the same T95Z Plus model. So, I might need to adjust the "Max frequency" parameter in the .DTB file for the T95Z Plus in order for Armbian to recognize the eMMC on my device. D…

@SteeMan - in case you want to experiment (i.e. not sure if it really works), you might play around with chainloading the g12a-u-boot.bin (s905x2) and sm1-u-boot.bin (s905x3) from https://github.com/hexdump0815/u-boot-misc/releases/tag/200926-01 or gxb-u-boot.bin (s905) or gxl-u-boot.bin (s905x) from https://github.com/hexdump0815/u-boot-misc/releases/tag/200718-01 ... basic chainloading goes like this - https://github.com/hexdump0815/imagebuilder/blob/master/boot/boot-amlogic_gx-aarch64/s905_autoscript.txt - maybe compare it to the balbes150 boot scripts for fancier ways and most probably better armbian integration ... the files mostly exist in a serial version for seria…

I just bought the Q96 Mini TV Box with 8GB RAM and 128GB ROM: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004079154677.html I have managed to boot Armbian in desktop mode with "Armbian_20.10_Arm-64_bullseye_current_5.9.0_desktop.img" But the problem is that it only allows me to use 1GB of RAM What do I have to do to be able to use the 8GB? I have tried decompiling "meson-gxl-s905x-p212.dtb" and changing the value to: memory@0 { device_type = "memory"; reg = <0x80000000 0x80000000 0x80000000 0x80000000>; }; and I've recompiled it, but I'm still able to use only 1GB of RAM I don't know what else to try any idea is welc…

Hello everyone, I have two identical-looking "arm-64" Amlogic TV boxes (S805X-based, meson-gxl-s805x-p241.dtb), both running the same Armbian image (kernel 5.9.0-arm-64 from balbes150 build). Hi Everyone I have one Matricom G-Box Android with Lollipop 5.1.1. But, they discontinued an Android for this box. So, after a well succeeded Armbian installation in a MXQ PRO with RK3228A, I want to do the same with this box. As I can not find nothing about these steps, except the kernel generation (https://github.com/SLAzurin/armbian-aml-s8xx-kernel-build-steps). Well, someone could be provide all the steps by-steps for an ARMBIAN installation in this box? How to generate a SD or USB card? Which kernel .Image or zip file should burn it? For instance, for box with Rockship are well described here in Armbian site, but nothing for Amlogic boards,…

@hexdumpI have a s905x box with secure boot enabled, I can run armbian from usb drive with your chainload uboot, and trying to run it on emmc. Hi all, I’m working with an Amlogic S805X (P241) board and I’d like to run Armbian on it, but I need a kernel 5.15 LTS build that boots reliably (especially from USB/SD). I see Armbian community builds with kernel 6.x for Amlogic TV boxes (e.g., Armbian_community_26.x), but these do not boot successfully on my P241. I previously successfully booted Armbian with kernel 5.9, but I want an image based on the 5.15 LTS kernel if possible. Is there an existing downloadable image for S805X/P241 with kernel 5.15? If not, can you share build parameters (BOARD=, BRANCH=, kernel target) to compile a minimal Armbian image with 5.15 that uses…

Recently I've installed armbian on my 905 TV box using this article as a guide: https://i12bretro.github.io/tutorials/0269.html After some experiments with dtb files and tuning everything seems to work fine except of one thing: the box can't be turned off, it boots immediately after shutting down. I've found a similar problem described in several articles, for example: https://gist.github.com/george-hawkins/a897a6fe116093a4c1f29ad19df088de It is suggested to enable XHCI HCD quirks in grub. But there is not such file in the system I've installed, the closest thing I found was config-5.9.0-arm-64 file. What is the right way to modify it to add XHCI HCD qui…

Hello! I recently started to play with this box and couldnt boot anything at all, as if reset button on AV port didnt work. Hi, I am returning to Armbian after quite a few years. I have recently found this great project and have converted my old unused and dusty s9xx TV Boxes to ARMBIAN for use as remote NAS and other applications. Hello. I'm a newbie, so bear with me here. I managed to install Armbian on a TV box with the Amlogic s905w CPU. Everything seems to be working fine except for the wi-fi, which is expected based on what I've read on the forum. I had a USB wi-fi adapter with me so I tried to use that as an alternative but it doesn't seem to work no matter what I do. My question is very straightforward actually, and probably a dumb one but it doesn't hurt to ask. When we say wi-fi doesn't work on Amlogic CPUs, we're talking about Armbian recognizing their built-in wifi card, right? If I use something external to that it should be ab…

Thanks to this forum I had installed Armbian buster and it's been running really well and stable for 3 years. For the first time I've arrived at an issue which makes me revisit and also because I have forgotten most of the stuff. Back in the day balbes150 had a bunch of ready made images available and you picked the correct device tree after flash. Appears those links no longer work. I don't want to do a massive upgrade, just from buster to bullseye on my week play 2 box (s905h only uses 4w when running) My question is where can I get those old images again. Or a newer resource for ready made images that will work on my box.

I'd like the be able to use something like OMV but I have no idea how I'd get it to boot. Thanks for your time everyone . I've set it up on a Pi4 before but that was a while ago an seemed a lot easier to do.

Good evening everyone, I bought 10 x96mini TvBoxes to give / donate to schools in my city. I wanted to install Armbian Ubuntu but I couldn't start it, one of the many guides is the following: https://forum.armbian.com/topic/15864-pi-hole-on-x96-mini-tutorial/ When I hold down the reset button it does not boot and the x96 mini screen does not appear, what can it be? I have tried several sign but without success. I hope you can help me to give these minipcs to children. p.s attached photos https://drive.google.com/file/d/1rNc1ifkqKefaZONrktLT4aM8GwLskqPa/view?usp=sharing https://drive.go…

While clearing out a load of old computer bits I found an old Keedox M8N android TV box I had years ago. Before I dump it, is it usable for anything now? Can I install Linux on it for example?
