Hi, I have finally installed armbian in my amlogic. I want to make a backup of the emmc now that it is "just installed". So if next year or whatever, if i want to go to my first day after the installation, I could go quickly. What will be the best way to create a "rescure image usb" ? In case of a disaster, could I boot from usb or only from sd? Thanks

I just bought hk1box with S905x3 chip, 4G RAM and 64G EMMC. It's a great box running android 9.0 smoothly. It has TTL pads so it can be used to check system boot up log. I've tried to run armbian on it. The good news is that the latest version of balbes150 - Armbian_20.10_Arm-64_focal_current_5.9.0.img can boot up successfully. The bad news is that the screen is green. I've learned from forum that the issue is caused by Amlogic‘s modification of u-boot and need to have u-boot.ext to solve the problem. Hello all, First straight to the point. Are there some issues with using Amlogic boxes as headless servers with armbian? For some reason ethernet "dies" if I boot it without HDMI connected and it doesn't "come back" even if I connect it back to the monitor and power it on again. I have to reflash SD card with fresh armbian to get it back up. Is this some known issue when using android boxes or is this something else? I tried two DTB files for S912 but there was no change. I was searching for WI-FI Drivers for my X96 Mini because I was using my device with Armbian ophub's build. The only-ethernet thing kinda annoyed me so dived in and found there's a fix. A guy named lukas-kuna found a fix for the WI-FI chip (HERE). So I tried the fix and It really worked. So I decided to create a driver myself for Future use and for my fellow users. I have an ASUS RT-AC57U router and a USB drive is connected to it. I would like to use my X96 MINI to copy some files from this drive. I turned on SAMBA (in armbian config) in the ARMBIAN settings. I have a tx3-mini 1G-ram 8G-Rom device and I installed the versions images available on the site on it. Hello guys, it's day i'm trying everything to let my S905x TV Box run Armbian but i keep struggle at toothpick multiboot. Android recovery stays with the green android with the ! out of its tummy and hang with the "Cannot load volume /misc!" error. I opened the log and find out "failed to mount /dev/block/mmcblk0 on /sdcard by read-only (Device or resource busy)". I have an OTT TV Box, model ABOX-A1 ( 1G + 8G, S905X ). Inside it looks very similar to NEXBOX A95X. When it starts up while connected to a Protron PLTV-26 TV, the TV EDID gets changed. This happens both with the original Android and when booting Armbian. I don't think it's due to Armbian. I wonder if it is due to startup code on eMMC or SOC ROM. The changes happen at every startup and are always the same. It writes a 1 at EEPROM offset 2, and a 0 at offset 0x20. Normally, the EDID EEPROM chip is at I2C address 0x50, and many devices write protect it. On this TV it responds to addresses from 0x50 to 0x57 according to i2cdetect, and it is not write protected. This issue is specifically about an issue where 'sometimes' a box will fail to boot off of emmc (after having booted successfully previously). The workaround is to boot once from SD card and then the emmc boot generally works fine again. I am starting this thread as a central place to discuss this issue that has been reported by a few people that I know. @lgranie and @robertoenr both have reported this problem either recently or in the past and I see it myself frequently. I was running armbian on emmc on an X96Air 4GB/64GB 1GBit S905X3 box a while ago and then after a power down it bricked. No boot screen, no android (obviously) - it sent a HDMI signal, but nothing. Managed to recover it and get Android flashed on it again then Armbian again on SD then emmc. Just done "apt upgrade" to get things up to date. All went well, then a reboot, and..... bricked again. It is now 2 weeks I run linux-image-current-meson64 with no problems. I manage to get rid of tearing while playing video with vlc by using wayland/weston instead of X11/openbox (picom did not help). While playing video cpu goes from around 40% in X11 to 20% with weston \o/. You can find vlcd.service, scripts and config files in attached files. Hello, My pet labubu and I got the most recent onecloud/odroid c1 versions fully working on my horrid former Oriental TV box, the TVPad 4 (previously brought up by user @daniyo). Everything works perfectly, except I want to finish my building by installing to eMMC. None of the recent builds I can find come with an install.sh script, and I cannot see the eMMC (or NAND if it's NAND) in lsblk or any of the installers. The latest releases of armbian 23.01 with kernel 6.1 do not run from SD cards on the HK1 box S903x5. If I use USB flash, armbian starts. At the same time, old releases of armbian with kernel 5.9 from balbes150 run from SD cards - but the image with a green background. No issues while loading the system, a prompt for login is presented, but it does not recognize any keyboard that I plugin. I replaced the dtb with the meson-gxm-q200-mod.dtb, and copied all the firmware to the lib, and it works great! I was able to install HomeAssistant to it, and everything is perfect. Armbian works ok, but if I remove sd card android stays forewer in boot splash screen. I have an Amlogic S905X3 board with an Armbian image in it, there is a module chip of SP6330-X attached to it, I can connect wifi to it and it works properly but when I try to connect Bluetooth it doesn't detect Bluetooth but when i install android in the device it works perfectly. Hi, I am using the Debian from below location. Running Containerized Home Assistant on my H96Max X3. After I started using that distribution instead of the very old balbes one, I have started to get crashes about every 5-7 days or so. Did slow down CPU in case it was heat etc, but no luck. Any ideas how I can troubleshoot this ? It just freezes and becomes unresponsive on network (ethernet and Wifi). I have not tried with keyboard/screen. I do have a WiFi power switch connected to it, so one of my other devices can power cycle it, but that is not the right solution. Tried a few upgrades. Hi. I'm out of my depth here, but I noticed that one of the official Armbian builds with platinum support is for the Khadas VIM1S, which has a S905Y4 SOC with 2GB of RAM. This is a similar configuration to many cheap Android TV boxes. According to some sources I can find, the S905W2 is also in the same family as the S905Y4 (Amlogic NE S4). Both are also supported by Coreelec, although I understand that Coreelec DTB's can't be used with Armbian. What would be involved in porting Armbian from the VIM1S to S905Y4/S905W2 TV boxes? Hello, i have m96x max tvbox on s906x cpu, i install armbian and all fine works. But. Sometimes when tvbox power turns off and i power on - it won't boot. At monitor i can't see nothing, black screen, monitor go to sleeping mode. This can happen after 2-3 sometimes 5-6 incorrect shutdowns. To fix the problem i disconnect my usb-hub and wifi dongle, insert SD-card with Armbian - and voila, tvbox boot ok from sd card. I see on the monitor until the boot is complete and turn it off by pulling the power out of the outlet.Then i unplug SD card, connect the usb hub and the wifi dongle and turn ON it, boot from the internal memory goes fine. Expected behaviour, happens 4/5 times: when I kill the watchdog service, it starts wd_keepalive, which keeps on pinging the watchdog. Kill wd_keepalive and after a few seconds the device power cycles, as is expected. But sometimes that doesn’t happen, and the device just continues running. I dug up an older box, a Transpeed 8K, S905X3, 4GB...tried Armbian_22.11.0-trunk_Aml-s9xx-box_kinetic_edge_6.0.10.img.xz, with the dtb for X96+ unhashed. I tried multiple times holding the reset button for 15-30 seconds, but it never boots. I'm pretty sure this one was sold under a different name, but haven't confirmed it yet. Hello there I've installed Armbian on my MXQ Pro 4K 5G TV box's eMMC, but now I want to upgrade to a better external storage. I've flashed Armbian on it and done the usual configuration but I always boot into the eMMC's Armbian. I've read that one way to fix this is to restore Android with the Amlogic USB Tool, but I found that my board has no reset button, not even hidden inside the jacks.
