  1. I guess my application is IOT - I am getting data via USB and SPI, report status via GPIO LEDs and upload data to the internet. I am enjoying raspberrypi 3B but it's huge and relatively expensive. I am trying to return Orange Pi 2G IOT since it's a disaster. Looks like Orange Pi Zero for a bit under $20 would not be a disaster? Are there other boards to consider if I care about physical size and price?

  5. Last week I downloaded the checksum for armbian20.05.2_Orangepiplus2e_buster_current_5.4.43_desktop.img.xz and checked the checksum that came with the download. The .img checksum downloaded with the image and the checksum I ran were the same. When I check the online checksum here on armbian.com under downloads, sha, TODAY, the checksum is different. Is there any reason for me to believe that my original checksum and download may have been corrupted? I realize I can just re-download the image now, but whose to say that the one posted now is correct and not the previous one (while maybe both correct/fine)? I know that checksums can change over time,…

Hi Igor. I think I found another inadvertenttant bug in the build since the desktop was unseparated out. The new build is calling chromium instead of chromium-browser, and it's breaking. It brings up a brief pink screen. When you call it from a window it calls this image below. Otherwise it is installing desktop on the H3 just fine.

I have an OrangePi +2E with the latest version of armbian. Yesterday, after a sudo apt-get upgrade, chromium upgraded to 87.0.4280.88 (Build) built on Debian 10.7. After that chromium has become useless: probably the slowest browser ever. In case you ask: I've removed all the extensions and uninstalled the browser and then installed again. nothing changed. The older version worked just "fine" (relative to what an orange pi can offer in terms of performance, of course) Is this the end of internet browsing on armbian?

I have followed this guide and I can boot my Orange Pi Zero from SSD without the need for an SD card inserted. I want to keep a bootable backup for my system in case the SSD gets corrupted. I was thinking to clone my system in a USB stick (just like I did to clone from SD to SSD) and then use rsync once a week to keep everything up to date with a script like that. If I go in armbian-config > system > install I can see only one option: "Install/Update the bootloader on SD/eMMC". How could I clone from SSD to a USB stick? Is there a command like `sudo nand-sata-install`?

Hi all, I bought a Orange Pi PC 2 a couple of months back, loaded the Armbian image successfully and tweaked it until it was just right for my application. As this piece of hardware was going to live on a remote property, I bought another 2 Orange Pi PC 2 boards and some new SD cards with the intention of having 2 backups - one for development and the other as spare. I cloned the SD card by copying the active EXT4 partition across to the blank SD card using GParted. The long and the short of it is that these images did not work. I know the hardware is good as the original SD card works in the new OPi PC2 boards. Likewise the new cards don't wo…

  29. So, looking to create a CLI version of armbian-install. Only has to work with the rockpi-s and from the SD card to the eMMC. Looking at this script: If it works to clone the SD to eMMC (with some changes?) then I need to tell armbian to boot from the eMMC when the SD card isn't inserted, same way that armbian-install does. 30. Hi Guys, I am working with Orange and Banana Pi development boards all with a minimum og 8GB eMMC chips. I am looking for a process to clone a working system to an SD card and using it as a checkpoint for my configuration changes so should I mess things up I can revert to the previous checkpoint. Is there a better way for me to clone the working system to an SD card. Thank you in advance, Rick

  49. Hi everyone, I'm trying to compile an image for Orange Pi One with the default config for desktop - but I'm running on box86 error, unable to locate box86 then the process terminates. Do I need to install it first from here >>> https://github.com/ptitSeb/box86 before I can make a successful image compile? - I also tried compiling just the kernel and my virtual box setup works just fine outputting compiled deb files.

Hi, I'm compiling a kernel (using 5.8.16-sunxi) for an H3 board that has the RTL8189es chip onboard. But the make fails due to a missing include file. It turns out that the makefile for this driver expects a "src" variable to be loaded with the path for the makefile. But I can't find any defining reference to this variable or any mention in the make documentation that it is an internal function. I've managed to fix this by setting src to srctree and the sub-path for this driver. But this seems very clumsy to me. Can somebody explain how "src" is meant to be loaded and why it's not happening for me ? Thanks, Steven

I am having some troubles with the xradio drivers that came with my image and am hoping that https://github.com/fifteenhex/xradio will add some improvements. There does seem to be some code change so I am remaining optimistic. I am able to compile the drivers with the kernel from https://github.com/orangepi-xunlong/orangepi-build but it crashes network manager and a few other modules when I try to modprobe it, I am guessing it is because this kernel is not an armbian kernel. Hi there, Basically I am trying to change the wireless regulatory power for the Opi PC. I follow the instruction like in this link and it worked in Rpi: http://askubuntu.com/questions/597546/iwconfig-wlan0-txpower-30mw-not-working I modified the country of BO to 30 from db.txt so I get 30dbm signal for testing purpose. When I have done all the proceedure in Opi PC and reboot I try to type " iw reg set BO" ,nothing happened - it still stayed at 00 which is the default country set. It also appears that when I type "iwconfig wlan0 channel 13" it then changed the country to China. And by then I can change the country BO by typing the "iw reg set BO" again. When…

  97. Dear all, I used win32diskimager to write the armbian image on a 8G sd card and everything works good. when I finish working on the image I read the final image also by using win32diskimager, the size of this image is right now 8G since the sd card size is 8G. After that I wrote this 8G image on a 16 G sd card. when I check the size of this new sd card after writing the 8G image it shows that the sd card size is 8G not 16 G. So, please how can I read an image from a 8G sd card and write it to a 16 G sd card and the size of the sd card remains 16 G to be used later. Best regards

  98. Hello. I use jammy ambrian on my odroid c2. In this is a 64gb sdcard. 60% of the card is empty. Can i create a automatically backup on the card? It would be nice to restore the fullsystem if something go wrong and the system crah. At this time i crate all 4 weeks a full sd backup on my other computer. but it need a long time, because the full 64gb will be safe as a .img file, which i can restore. Is there a solution to get a smaller zip file, withe the full system???? Thank you a lot. If the fully system zip is not to great, i can upload it on my cloud..

  100. Hello all and I apologise for the rather long subject title there. A bit of a mouthful :-) I can understand how to create a .dts/.dtb file from an already running existing linux system on an arm based device. But what about if there is no linux image to run on it? Is it possible to take the device tree from an android device and then turn that into a .dts/.dtb file? Also am I correct in saying that pretty much the first thing that would be needed to boot any sort of linux on an arm device like this (R69 box) is a working .dts/.dtb file so it can boot? Case in point is my old R69 TV box. It always was and remains problematic in booting old thread but wa…
