  1. Started by FreddyOPi,

I have been using my OPi 5 for several months with Armbian on my NVMe ssd. I decided to shift my SSDs around, and removed the one that was in my OPi5 and put in a new one. I burned the latest Armbian 23.8 Bookworm Cinnamon dated Aug 31, 2023 using BalenaEtcher onto an SD card, put it in the OPi5, and it booted fine. I did apt update and upgrade, no problems. I ran nand-sata-install hoping to transfer the system to the ssd and it failed. My memory is fuzzy due to panic setting in, but I tried the Jameschambers process to copy the system over, and then tried to boot off the ssd card, and it failed. When I tried armbian-config it failed to update the MTD and reported no s…

  2. Did someone else notice the the color saturation is to high on HDMI if a Video is played? Test video watch temperature of CPU and add a heatsink! May be the is an option for HDMI to change this? Especially Faces in normal TV shows are far to red. DISPLAY=:0 mpv --vo=vdpau --hwdec=vdpau --hwdec-codecs=all --fs http://ow.ly/10tB0C Olso interesting would be to know how smooth the VIDEO rans is far to slow in ma case.

Hi, 1st - thanks for your wonderful job. I really like using Armbian. I have setup a few small nanopi neo's with spotify / airplay / Bluetooth to play music via Echo-Dots with line in connected speakers. Now I would like to make this setup as stable as it can be., so I was thinking about making those SD cards read only. What I got from here - on the old kernel 3.4 there is an option - apt-get install overlayroot. Sadly I'm on the latest Debain based image - fritz@nanopineo2:~$ uname -a Linux nanopineo2 4.14.18-sunxi #24 SMP Fri Feb 9 16:24:32 CET 2018 armv7l GNU/Linux unionfs-fuse is maybe a goo…

Didn't see anything from a search of the forums, so ... on a Rock64 with Armbian, I have compiled the 8723bu driver since it is missing. However, when this driver is loaded, only 2G wifi APs are visible. I am trying to connect to a 5G wifi AP. Other devices do not have a problem connecting to this AP. The Armbian install just can't seem to see it. I see the usb wifi in iw and in iwconfig. I'm just not sure how to get the usb wifi to connect to 5G when only 2G wifi APs show up. I've tried the usb wifi in all three different USB ports, and in all cases it still can't see 5G wifi, only 2G. Is there some config file or manual command that I can issue that w…

  5. After my last update on my radxa5-ITX, apart from the name changes of the NIC (related?), I remarked that I could not cryptroot-unlock the root partition because of dm_mod apparently missing from initramfs. To give some context, this is how I set things up some while ago and things went pretty smooth until recently. Too bad armbian does not keep the previous kernel (though I get the reason why). Inspecting the boot partition, cat config-6.1.115-vendor-rk35xx | grep DM_CRYPT CONFIG_DM_CRYPT=m the kernel seems to have been compiled with the proper option and lsinitramfs initrd.img-6.1.115-vendor-rk35xx | grep 'usr.*cryptsetup' usr/lib/aarch64-l…

  6. Hi, I used to run a full docker environment using the Radxa Debian buster image upgraded to bullseye. Lately as the backport repo has been archived I decided to move onto Armbian as upgrading bullseye to bookworm did not boot (or seemed so...). After flashing the latest Rockpi4 image to the Rockpi4, I copied the docker configuration and files backups. I now have a akward behavior: - starting all the stacks (or containers) works fine, all seems ok - rebooting via sudo reboot provokes an endless reboot cycle which is only ended if I unplug the USB Zigbee coordinator key. Once the loop is stopped, the RockPi does not have any IPv4 address (only IPv…

For my Orange Pi PC, I just switched from the buggy debian-image to Armbian. Armbian works fantastic, but there is one small problem with my ssh reverse tunnel. On the (old) debian system i had my script tunnel.sh: #!/bin/bash /usr/bin/autossh -p2000 -fNC -R 9000:localhost:9091 -R 5057:localhost:4949 -R 8000:localhost:8888 -R 10012:localhost:22 myusername@www.mydomain.com The remote Pi will call my gateway Pi at port 2000. Whenever i call the gateway-ip:9000 i am at port 9091 on my remote pi etc. Worked flawless. After I changed to Armbian, this mini-script for tunnel.sh works, too: #!/bin/bash /usr/bin/autossh -p2000 -fNC -R 10012:localhost:22 myusername@ww…

  16. Hey. I have a waveshare 4.3" 480x272 screen, that I'm trying to get to work with my orange pi zero +2, or nanopi M1 plus. However, I can't get the screen to show the right resolution - that only seems possible on my raspberry pi (which I don't want to use for this project). I've been running over all the (little) info I can find, and it seems to be a general problem to get hdmi working if the screen edid is a bit flaky - is this still the case, or is it possible to get this combination of opi/nanopi to work on this display? Hello, I've copied the Armbian Bionic image onto an SD card (and verified it) and put it into my new Orange Pi Zero LTS 256 MB. I already have experience with Raspberry Pis and Raspbian for a few years, so this isn't entirely new to me. While I was trying to establish a stable network connection (wired and wireless), I misinterpreted some "host not reachable" as "network failed" when instead other issues existed. In the process, I unplugged the power a few times after the device has booted up but wasn't reachable via the network. Only then I connected the serial console and investigated further. There I found out that it wasn't actually booting any…

Hi I have used Armbian quite a bit now for various projects with great success and even debugged my own hard-to-solve issues. I am considering using an H3 based board (OrangePi + 2E) to replace the cheap junk media player I use. Incidentally Armbian will run on that device, but I am not sure what the video support is like- its a RockChip RK3xxx series SoC. Now, out of the box, Armbian (Buster, Focal, etc..) video playback stutters on Full HD (720p and up) content, particularly at full screen. I understand this is because I need to install a binary blob driver for the GPU? I've done this on normal desktop PCs before running Ubuntu, which is very easy to do, h…

Hello Unfortunately my OrangePi PC which I used for couple of years failed and I'm looking to buy the 64-bit SBC from Pine64. Funny thing about my OrangePi PC was that there was one and only one old Armbian image version (Armbian-20.05.4-Orangepipc-focal-5.4.45.img) which ran GUI successfully out of the many other Armbian and OrangePi images I tried which helped me run it as a desktop for using Libre office and others. Unfortunately 1GB RAM was too low for Gaming lol. Thanks to the Armbian community for that. Before buying, I presume the PineA64 LTS version has a 64bit Rambus if not - I don't understand how processing speed will be bett…

  47. Hello, In case you haven't heard about this yet, the fact that Armbian Buster Current comes with a 5.8 kernel means it suffers from this Debian bug: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=964926 which us caused by combining this kernel version (as well as future ones) with systemd built using older kernel headers. This bug is mostly harmless but it does at the very least prevent Ansible from managing services on affected systems due to 'systemctl show' exiting with a non-zero exit code. Unfortunately with the official Debian Buster kernel version being 4.19 it is unlikely that this will be fixed on their end.

In the past I used a lower end Sandisk's and used external flash drive with nand-sata-install to move system due to endurance. What is the status as of today? Are Sandisk Ultra A1's better than flash drives (i.e. not special "high endurance" ones). I need to ask because the installation is not easy to reach (another part of the city) and current problems may be because of flash failure (didn't get my hand on the devices yet). Any pointers will be much appreciated. PS: I found this today, very interesting read... https://www.delkin.com/technology/flash-endurance/

Is there any utility/software which makes image with 1.5GB only? Are there any plans to add support for the MCP7940 real-time clock? It's much cheaper than the DS1307 and mostly compatible. The biggest difference is Reg0b7 which is "Clock-Halt" in the 1307 but "STart" in the 7940. The 7940 also has some extra register bits like OSCEN which are default 0 in the 1307. I tried naively enabling the rtc-ds1307 module and it didn't work. An actual DS1307 chip worked immediately (just hot-plugging the break-out boards while executing "hwclock -rf /dev/rtc1"). I have rencently installed armbian (jessie vanilla) on a brand new olimex LIME2. My locales are set to use en_US.UTF-8, but when logging through ssh, as root or as regular user, everything is set to "POSIX". ssh root@brique root@brique's password: Load: 1.28, 0.39, 0.13 - Board: 22.8°C - Memory: 968Mb root@brique:~# locale LANG= LANGUAGE= LC_CTYPE="POSIX" LC_NUMERIC="POSIX" LC_TIME="POSIX" LC_COLLATE="POSIX" LC_MONETARY=…

  93. Hi I've successfully booted amrbian (Armbian_21.02.3_Cubieboard_focal_current_5.10.21.img.xz) on GoClever A971 tab. System starts normally but it doesn't recognize usb keyboard (uboot and armbian). I can connected via shh over wifi but i have no idea how to fix it. Anyone?

  94. I want to make an Armbian image with BTRFS rootfs. I did, it works. My problem is the default setup only assign 58M to the partition for /boot, leave only 18M of free space. I want to make it 150M. I had some bad experience related to such issue before - when I did an "apt upgrade" that involves building of new initrd.img file, the /boot partition is too small to allow the upgrade. So, I want to fix this issue before I build other stuffs on it. I have browse the docs.armbian.com and read couple of README under the build/ folder but find no hints. Thanks in advance for your help P.S. I think my question should be a gener…

  95. I've been getting these errors when I run apt update / apt upgrade on an OrangePi One Plus: Err:13 https://apt.armbian.com/apt bullseye Release Redirection from https to 'http://imola.armbian.com/apt/apt/dists/bullseye/Release' is forbidden [IP: 173.45.128.12 443] if I edit /etc/apt/sources.list.d/armbian.list to be https://imola... it works fine. EDIT: armbian.list originally looked like this: deb https://apt.armbian.com/ bullseye main bullseye-utils bullseye-desktop and I changed it to look like this: deb https://imola.armbian.com/apt bullseye main bull…

I've been using debian on all my systems for a long time. On my x86 and x64 systems, debian_version always gets updated after dist-upgrades and upgrades. It has never been the case for my embedded boards running armbian jessie. I tried to research into what actually does the trigger, but I can't find any details. When I log in, my splashscreen confirms there are no new updates (I updated this morning). It's still showing 8.0 in /etc/debian_version. I expect to see /etc/debian_version reflect 8.4 Any ideas? sudo apt-get dist-upgrade Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done Calculating upgrade... The fo…

Hi, I have a few Orange Pi PC Plus using Armbian bulldog and have two questions / issues. its my 1st post and not sure where best to ask 1. I have a python program that starts on a service, this can take around 25 seconds to start, I would like sub 20, less than 15 would be fantastic but not sure what service's to remove. reading a few posts here, I have an svg log but unable to see how i can attach?. It boots from eMMC. The program uses USB, I2C and internal UART and wi-fi 2. on a few OPi the wifi will not work. if I type in "sudo iwlist wlan0 scan" it returns " no scan results" if I reboot, it finds this. I have a lot of OPi and some have a wifi issue s…

I am using command: pip3 install --verbose numpy and it freezes after these last few lines: aarch64-linux-gnu-gcc: numpy/core/src/umath/ufunc_object.c aarch64-linux-gnu-gcc: build/src.linux-aarch64-3.7/numpy/core/src/npymath/ieee754.c aarch64-linux-gnu-gcc: build/src.linux-aarch64-3.7/numpy/core/src/npymath/npy_math_complex.c aarch64-linux-gnu-gcc: numpy/core/src/npymat…

  100. I am not able to boot from armbian. First I downloaded image from (https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-zero-2w/) later on I flashed the image with usbimager, then since this didn't work I did with balena etcher, (all those in linux). Balena etcher crashes at verification so then I did with my windows machine, first with usbimager and since it wasn't working I decided to decompress the .xz and do it with "rufus" Here i attach the images and as you guys can see it says "failed to mount /dev/mtdblock4". That terminal is pretty much useless, I can't even do reboot or poweroff. I just need armbia…
