Hi guys, I am trying to use TP-Link dongle WN722N v3 as an access point . I am using Nano Pi Neo Core EMMC with expansion board running Armbian Buster with Linux 5.3.9-sunxi . The device can detect wifi signals nearby as seen on nmtui in managed mode . I followed the instructions on https://forum.odroid.com/viewtopic.php?f=52&t=25472&sid=84d2b8f1e7ad477e9907591eb7fb030d to configure as access point . Hi all! Sorry about my English. I just started learning Armbian. Please don't scold me for my ignorance. I have an Orange Pi 3-lts. I installed an "Armbian_23.02.2_Orangepi3-lts_bullseye_current_5.15.93" OS on it. Transferred everything to EMMC. Installed Clipper. I started experimenting with the rotation of the display. (everything seems to have turned out as I wanted!) But damn! Wanted more! I wanted the startup process log to not be displayed on the screen when the OS was started. I read somewhere on the Internet: change in armbianenv.txt console = botn on console = serial. I listened and changed. And now I can't manage my OPI. I can't connect via terminal b…

Hello - I have attempted an install of Armbian Stetch on a Pinebook (non HD) with the latest image from https://www.armbian.com/pinebook-a64/. I can power on the pinebook and can SSH in, and have successfully installed to the internal emmc, however the screen does not come on. This pinebook readily works with other OS images I've attempted. I suspect I'm just missing something somewhat obvious, but I can't find reference to this issue elsewhere - how do I enable access via the screen/keyboard on the device itself? Thanks!

A few weeks ago I installed the minimal Armbian Bookworm image on a Odroid M1. The installed kernel was 6.6.31 The current minimal version for this board is 24.5.3 with kernel 6.6.36 After running apt update and apt dist-upgrade the kernel updated to version 6.6.32 which was build more then one month ago. I also used armbian-config to update the firmware in hopes that this covers the kernel as well but I am still stuck with the old kernel. What am I doing wrong? And how can I actually update the entire software, including the kernel to the most recent release without manually reinstallig the entire system?

Hi, I have just changed from a custom legacy kernel to armbian and like the experience. I use the Logitech Media Server and squeezelite, mainly to play radio on the armbian box itself as well as on a Squeezebox Radio I still have. Hello armbian friends, I am not really a beginner but I don't find a fitting forum to ask this. Having manually upgraded the first day it was possible to Bullseye, my MOTD and armbian-release got stuck on the old version. Everything runs very very good, I have a very up-to-date kernel and love it. Any chance I can repair my broken MOTD? What did I do wrong when I changed my sources.list and armbian.list? Kind greetings

That's all, really. I appreciate the amount and quality of work that the leaders here generously share with the community. I donated an amount that would buy 6 bottles of my preferred local brew, hoping that the project's accountants will allow at least that tiny drop in the total donation pool to be used to celebrate a little. It's well-earned!

Hello. I saw all topics about armbian on Q8, Q88 tablets, but some of them are dead with no success, some say, that it is working somehow for someone. I understand, that armbian more tended to be for boards, but come on! There is a huge pile of tablets, that uses same processors, memory, wifi and other chips, and there is a sun5i-a13-q8-tablet.dtb in /boot/dtb of an image of armbian. So, I compiled custom Armbian image using olinuxinoA13 configuration as there wasn't any for q8-tablet. Wrote or burned it with USB Image Writer (I'm on Linux Mint 19 Cinamon) on SD card, mounted it, edited ArmbianEnv.txt line disp_mode=800x480p60. Put SD in tablet, pushed on button... s…

Hello, I'm trying to enable I2C access in U-Boot, for orange PI zero. I've downloaded the Armbian build, and tried to compile with CREATE_PATCHES, exactly like the tutorial here: https://zuckerbude.org/armbian-using-create-patches/ However, the build never stops and waits for me to make changes. I've attached the build log. I *think* I just need to add the following lines to orangepi_zero_defconfig: CONFIG_I2C0_ENABLE=y CONFIG_I2C1_ENABLE=y I guess that would be my next question- is this the proper way to change this config is via CREATE_PATCHES? I tried just changing the defconfig file and re-running c…

Hello everyone, new ARM user here, but long-time GNU/Linux user for about 25 years. I'm trying to install a (preferably debian based) distribution on a newly acquired ARM laptop, a Samsung "galaxy S book" model SM-W767V - this machine is based on qcom's "Snapdragon 8cx" SoC. When i try to boot a generic image (assuming the BIOS/UEFI lists it in the boot menu) it either freezes or reboots at a specific point during the boot process. Where it crashes is always consistent for a specific image, but can differ across different images. The Armbian ones make it past the bootloader and crash at some point during the kernel boot. Has anyone had …

I just wrote the Armbian Ubuntu Jammy Desktop image to an SD HC card and booted up fine with it (although I can only boot if I disconnect the HDMI cable -- when boot up is finished, I can plug it in and use the desktop. That's another story, but I have the same issue with official NanoPi Ubuntu images. Next, I transferred the Armbian OS to the eMMC and indicated that I wanted both the boot and system to be on the eMMC. After transferring the rootfs and getting the Power Off prompt, I powered off, then removed the SD HC card, then attempted to boot. However, when I tried to power on again, the NanoPi went into a reboot loop. Armbian will not boot without t…

Good evening All. I was wondering what is the best method to use an Armbian sd card born for an H3 based board on another board with the same SoC, e.g. Orange Pi 2 image on Orange Pi Lite. With old 3.x kernel it was super easy, just replace the fex file and that's it. Overlays confuse me a fair bit, and the best method I found until now is to specify in armbianEnv.txt the row fdtfile=sun8i-h3-orangepi-lite.dtb to use a sdcard loaded with an Orange Pi 2 image in my Orange Pi Lite. But I cannot find where the board is defined, could anyone point me in the right direction? Best Regards. Christian

Hello everyone! I recently heard about running x86_64 programs on ARM using box64, and decided to give it a try. I get the impression that most people are just using it for games but I would like to use it to run Quartus (a program to work with Intel FPGAs). The issue I see is getting the USB drivers to work. Quartus includes drivers for several programming cables (I am only interested in the USB blaster cable), and as far as I know there are no drives available that run on ARM. Is there any hope at all of getting the x86 drivers to work on ARM? Thanks in advance.

I'm on a Rockpro64 rev2.1 and wanted to use the maximum of the availiable Power of this SoC, so i tried using cpufrequtils and the amrbian config for doing so and noticed two things: I can only set one of my CPU's frequencies and the maximum is 1800 MHz, so i searched this forum for a while and found out how to show the device tree table which is currently loaded(dtc -I fs /sys/firmware/devicetree/base/) and there is one unused mode for both of my CPUs, a 1992 MHz mode for the big chip and a 1512 MHz mode for the small chip, and at this point im stuck. What could i do to load this modes in the cpufrequtils or the armbian config? Spoiler dt…

One of my students told me Armbian no longer accepts donations. Indeed, I see a 'Subscriptions' section, but no longer a Donations link. It's been a while since I looked. When 'subscribing' I guess one could uncheck the automatic renewal, but would that cause trouble for Armbian expecting continuing income? Or should one make the subscription and then cancel? I always encourage my students to support Armbian. I have no clue how many actually have, but feedback is that they would like to make a one-time donation and not a 'subscription.' I dig the subscription idea, but I think Armbian should also have a one time donation link even if it only gets …

I'm fairly new to Linux, so excuse me when I'm asking the obvious. Using my Orange Pi Zero 512 H2 I want wo build a POE-powered display, displaying the current time, time until the bus leaves and ideally some information on bus schedules I can pull from the API of the local bus network. What I currently have is an Orange Pi Zero 512 H2 and a POE injector where I can insert any voltage as it does not run with standard POE voltage. My plan is to buy this e-paper display https://www.waveshare.com/wiki/7.5inch_e-Paper_HAT_(B) and have the Orange Pi display a simple HTML page. So my first question is: Would this display run, would it be a good choice for my setup? Are there any similar projects (yes, I searched) that…

I am trying to figure out how to compile and load the Xradio drivers onto an orange pi zero LTS. Hi, I got a problem with orange pi zero and audio record latency. What I try to do is to record the audio on orange pi zero, send data to my phone and play it here, but the delay is big(around ~1-1.5s) that's is quite a lot. I've tested it for a few days now and I am sure the delay is on the device. What is interesting sending audio the other way(phone->orange pi zero) has no delay at all(~0.1s). First I tried to use Qt(5.9) and QAudioInput, now I switched to alsa libraries but no results. I also tried to use command line to check this arecord | aplay but still I can hear the delay. Is there any way to decrease the latency? …

Hi all. I hope I'm posting this in the right section of the forum. I'm looking for an SBC to use as a media center (Kodi) attached to an old CRT TV to watch (among others) german DVB-T2 terrestrial broadcasts. I've set up a Raspberry Pi 3 with OSMC so far and this works well for net content but isn't up to the task of decoding the H.265 TV streams, presumably due to lack of hardware support. So, what I need is an SBC with hardware support for H.265 decoding which also sports a composite video output. Preliminary research leads me to believe that the Orange Pi series of boards should be up to the task and seem well supported by Armbian. However, I'm a bit lo…

Hi all. I've just finished a new video where I show the gameplay of EmuElec on the Odroid HC4. I must say I'm amazed by how well it performs. It doesn't perform that much worse than the Odroid N2+. The biggest advantage is that you can use a normal 3.5" hard drive for your games library. The single USB2 port is enough to connect your controller. Here's my video.

This is on a 4GB NanoPi M4 v1. There are a number of files matching the spec '/etc/ssh/ssh_host_*' but they are all zero bytes, which renders the machine inaccessible by ssh. I am new to arm devices. I'm trying to build a fully working armbian system for the pcduino8-uno which uses the Allwinner a83t/h8 soc. Using sun8i-a83t-allwinner-h8homlet-v2 as my starting point.. I built a new kernel from 6.1.0-rc6. Everything seems to work properly except the ethernet controller. Without sdCard the boot process is not possible, right? b) where exactly sits the bootloader? is it in a certain sector of the microSD card and if so where exactly and how long? or does the ODROID-HC2 trying to read at specific addresses and if so where? c) can u-boot only process the first partition of the block device or would it be theoretica…

I now have a RockPi4a running Armbian_20.02.0-rc1_Rockpi-4b_bionic_legacy_4.4.210_desktop from eMMC. Now i wanted to see how i most easily can experiment with newer distributions, such as 5.x. The radxa debian images for rockpi4 use a lot of partitions and it was quite easy to reformat the eMMC to have two system partitions, install different linux versions into them, and then configure the boot script to allow booting from different partitions/kernels via serial console and there selecting the desired kernel. In Armbian, it seems booting uses the boot.cmd script to boot the kernel. Is there a simple example of the boot script with a m…

So...I'm trying to find the linux headers for my Banana Pi M1, so I can install Wireguard on it. But seems there's no sanxi headers? Also...no headers for that kernel whatsoever. The generic ones stop at 4.18 then jump to 5.0. Then there's a bunch of raspi and raspi2 headers, and then the misterious to me linux-headers-edge-sunxi 21.05.6, which I guess won't work on mine. Where should I get headers for my Banana Pi? Also just in case, I'm a bit worried about doing something too drastic, since this little thingy is located in another continent. Thanks!

Hi, the hardware in question: PCIe_TO_2-CH_SATA_HAT+ In expectation for the Rock 4D forum to arrive I am posting my issue here: The Rock 4D works and all is well The two SATA drives work over USB to SATA adapters - that is not ideal in the long term IMHO The HAT just arrived and i have no doubt in my mind that it can be defective in any way - i assume it is 100% operational. But when i connect it and plug the power in the Rock 4D boots, everything else works as usual, but the HAT just sits there without any signal. My questions: 1. How do i query the eeprom via the pins 27 & 28 (ID_SD & ID_SC), do i just enable the i2c_6 overlay? …

So using the old sysfs (/sys/class/gpio/) interface, you "export" a gpio by spitting the gpio number into /sys/class/gpio/export. The GPIO number depends on the board and relevant documentation. Having once found that I need GPIO number 76, I'm migrating code to the new "gpio character device" interface (/dev/gpiochipn) on my Rock64. However, "gpioinfo" shows that hardly any gpios have useful labels, and Google searches always turn up Raspberry Pi results. So, can I just calculate the new gpio identify? Old gpio is 76, all /dev/gpiochips have 32 lines, 76/32 = 2 rem 12, so old gpio 76 is now /dev/gpiochip2 line 12? Edit: I tried this…
