hello guys, how to activate bridge mode between the 2 ethernet ports of R2S (WAN and LAN) which are referred to as eth0 and lan0 respectively, so as both of them have the same ip address. i tried this https://wiki.debian.org/BridgeNetworkConnections#Manual_bridge_setup but when i reach the command which adds interfaces to the bridge (# brctl addif br0 eth0 lan0)then the ssh connection is lost. i noticed something as well, in interfaces file i added eth0 and lan0 and gave each one a different ip. but then it seems as is now i have two IPs but for the same port (WAN), and no ip for lan port!!!

I'm new to the Orange Pi 4 LTS. I work SBC's headless and have installed using UART many times on RP Zero's, BananaPi's and most recently on a RockPro64. However, I am not sure if I should be using. Is there another set of UART pins besides the "debug ins"? Booted the image on an sdcard connected to the debug pins and just got 8 lines of this stuff <6vΉ9.goO

Sorry for a newbie question. I am setting up a raid system based on flash drives on a Orange Pi One and every thing is working fine. I am now thinking of moving from ext4 for F2FS but I can't figure out how to get it to work. I have installed f2fs-tools and managed to format the drive but I can't seem to mount it. I can't seem to run "modprobe f2fs". Does this mean that I need to recombile the kernel or what? I am not intending to boot from f2fs. Just mount the raid system for storage.

When i set up armbian after first boot, when the screen went to the bottom line, the resolution would not allow me to see the bottom line, so when it asked me to set a password for the user, i hit return - it allowed me to enter a blank password, but now when i try to config for sudo, it does not accept a blank password. If i reinstall the same thing will happen. is there anyway to change or set the admin password from a blank password? 1234 does not work or the new password i set up for root also does not work.

Hello to everyone. Being new around here I figured to drop one message here first... So, i have this Radxa Rock 4D SBC and i am quite impressed with it Me being me and SBC being what it is, yada... yada, i now have this hat+ from Waveshare - it is an dual SATA to PCIe adapter. It was designed for the Raspberry pi 5 obviously but Radxa has since started putting those FPC connectors on and i really would appreciate a 24/7 NAS with a SBC footprint... Long story short, it does not work out of the box - i have no doubt the product is okay it's just the HAT fails to initiate the OS and register. It reportedly has an eprom with data o…

I have a NanoPI M4 hooked up to a Uniroi 1024x600px HDMI screen running Armbian Buster 5.10.43-rockchip64 booting to a console (no X). My issue is, that the console resolution is set to 1024x768px after boot which makes the screen almost unreadable. Can I somehow fix the console resolution to 1024x600 (e.g. by setting some values in armbianEnv.txt or similar)?

I'm trying to use H6's ARISC (CPUS) core for my CNC project https://allwincnc.github.io/ There are no problems to switch ARISC (CPUS) clock source using H3 and H5 (latest Armbian Buster). I'm using R_PRCM (0x01F01400) > CPUS_CLK_REG (offset 0x0000) register to switch clock source to the PERIPH0 PLL. For the H3 I'm using uboot script, for the H5 - own kernel module. But for the H6 this register (R_PRCM) isn't properly documented. Found out this register was moved to the 0x07010000. But modifying this register at offset 0x0000 doesn't take any effect. Just checked this using uboot cmd and own kernel module. I need your help. guys. Any suggestions …

Hello all I have a many questions, but I will start off with the 2 I need to be helped on. 1: The Le Potato needs butter and sour cream. HAHA I has to say it... I am running the newest flavor of Armbian created in the last few weeks (Armbian 22.08 Jammy XFCE Kernel 5.10.y, Size: 1263Mb, Updated: Aug 30, 2022). I am new on to a non Pi bd so forgive me on the differences. After loading imaging and updating (or not) the board any time I try to do a full shutdown, all it does is reboot. After I get this to work I will work on my other issue below. 2: I would like to use this as a replacement for Pi 3A+ on a remote solar powered weather station …

Hi! I'm running a Odroid C2 as a SAT->IP-Server for some time having two DVBSky S960 attached to the USB-Ports of the Odroid. The Odroid itsself has a nightly of Armbian installed: 5.38.180128 (4.14.15) and runs a self-compiled tvheadend on it. No big problems so far. As you released a stable stretch-image some time ago, i thought: give it a try! So I flashed the image to my 8GB EMMC, installed all updates, built tvheadend on it and installed it. Everything runs like a charm. Until...I try to use the DVBSky S960 on the USB-Port. Of course I installed the correct driver for it and the device seems to be detected correctly and the drivers are bein…

Trying to clear boot sequence from errors while building mainline version with following parameters: I found error sunxi-nmi: unable to map resource. After investigation, I found: 1) there is no nmi controller on A64, according to last version of Allwinner A64 manual; 2) nmi is added into DT by patch add-A64-nmi_intc. patch. I created a user patch reversing this patch, but it could be better if this patch is removed from A64 as it is usefull only on other chip. Question: is my opinion on this topic ok? Who is in charge to solve this conflict between me and the guy who added this patch? Mike

Hi, I updated from legacy kernel to mainline and then from jessie to stretch. Armbianmonitor -u output is further below. So far, the main issue is that after rebooting the DNS server is set to 127.0.0.1 thus loosing internet connectivity. Here is the output of resolve.conf (with manual setting the nameserver after reboot ) and the static network config. I am struggling to find how the dns server is set after reboot. I would appreciate if anyone could point me to a HOW TO. Minor issues: I can see only one cpu with htop, the ip address is not recognized at the ssh login screen, the opi pc is recognized as opi lite at the ssh login screen …

Hi team! This may be the stupidest question ever… I am a long time Debian user. I have a project in mind where I plan to setup a dual node HA Haproxy balancer. This is pretty straightforward in Debian but I am wondering, is HAproxy even available for armbian?. I do not plan to have a big throughput for these HAproxy nodes, is for a homelab and more for fun than for production purposes… The idea is to use the cheapest dual gigabit board available, that’s why I will probably go for nanopi (which supports armbian). English is not my first language so sorry in advance for messed up wording/expressions/whatever. …

Hi, I ran into an issue when configuring ssh. As it seems, ssh listens only to the first interface that is enabled (it seems it is always eth0). Probably, if I set a listen to 192.168.x.x in the config file of the sshd (same as the IP set in the wlan0), and a different network on the ethernet, it would work, but as I won't be using ethernet I would rather disable it completly. I tried already ifdown, ifconfig down, ifconfig eth0 down && rmmod -f sunxi_gmac, and some others. I even tried removing nmtui just to check if that was causing the problem. all what that step does is removing the bond0 interface (something I would like to do too). I checke…

Hi I have an Odroid HC1 which has been happily running along for a while now. The OS has been moved onto the SATA drive I used arminian-config to run the updates but the reboot failed. I found this post which may be related but I am not sure. As the OS is on the SATA drive I can't log in to check what is happening with the data drive. I attached a small video to that post to show what is happening with the HC1's lens when I attempt to boot it. I really need to get this server back up as it has my Nextcloud instance on it. Hi guys, I'm trying to share internet access from wireless Wlan0 to Ethernet Eth0 port to connect a SIP phone to the PBX asterisk server; nevertheless as the Asterisk server has source IP filtering, i have to establish a VPN tunnel with and openVPN server that has static public IP who already had a granted IP to access the Asterisk server. I'm using Armbian (buster) with Linux 5.9.14-sunxi on a OPI Zero plus H2, nevertheless, i guess this is not a hardware problem. I have no issues to install and connect openVPN what creates a new tap adapter tap0 with the assigned IP from server, once connected the Zero Plus starts accessing internet thru the tap adapter…

Hi! I'm having trouble with one (only one) of the alsamixer settings. 'MIC1 boost AMP gain control' shoots up to 71 every time I launch a program that uses sound, such as alsaloop or arecord. I've done 'sudo alsactl store', so I can get it back to zero by doing 'sudo alsactl restore'. Obviously that's not something I want to do all the time. I don't have any problems with any other settings. The setting in question completely ruins sound quality for my purposes, so I need it to stay at zero. I'm currently running 5.35 user-built Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS 3.4.113-sun8i. I've tried Debian Jessie as well.

Hello, I am planning to desgin a Computer-on-Board, but would like to know what are the minimal specs needed for it to run a graphical user interface with a desktop. Doing a simple Google Search gives me two answers: "512 MB RAM memory, at least 8 GB of storage (on a quality SD card or eMMC), a 4-core processor, and wired networking. For a more advanced Armbian build framework, you'll require a system with at least 8GB of RAM and 50GB of disk space, although specific requirements vary depending on the hardware." My main issue with this is that it doesn't explain directly if 512 MB of RAM and a 4-core processor (and what frequency?) are enough for the most ligh…

Hi there, I would like to have a Docker container accessing the GPIO on the Orange Pi Zero. For the time being, I'm using OPi.GPIO as a library to make a LED blink, but will use Java-Periphery and SSD1306 later on. As for now, the LED is blinking, all is fine. What I would like to do now it to create a Docker image from Armbian doing the same thing, so I was thinking of starting the image from scratch with Armbian root directory. How could I find/make a minimal Armbian root directory to build my Docker image upon? Thanks.

I have followed this guide and I can boot my Orange Pi Zero from SSD without the need for an SD card inserted. I want to keep a bootable backup for my system in case the SSD gets corrupted. I was thinking to clone my system in a USB stick (just like I did to clone from SD to SSD) and then use rsync once a week to keep everything up to date with a script like that. If I go in armbian-config > system > install I can see only one option: "Install/Update the bootloader on SD/eMMC". How could I clone from SSD to a USB stick? Is there a command like `sudo nand-sata-install`?

How to unbrick the system? When something goes horribly wrong and you can not boot the system, this is the way to proceed. You need some Linux machine where you can insert SD card failed. With this procedure, you will reinstall the u-boot, kernel, and hardware settings. In most cases, this is enough to unbrick the board. You should check the file system before mounting: I do not understand

Hi, toying around with Odroid C1 kernel compilation and trying new kernels (both 5.0-rc2 and the mainline amlogic kernel) there are some patches that do no apply correctly. Both general-packaging-4.17-next.patch and general-increasing_DMA_block_memory_allocation_to_2048.patch apply correctly if I remove the part of the patch referring arm64 architecture: is this fine? For sure Odroid C1 is a 32-bit SBC.. does anyone knows why there are references for arm64? If you agree I can create a pull request to remove those lines... Thanks **Bye Piero

Hello dear Armbian Community, I've been trying to get a custom M.2 PCIe Adapter Board, based on the ASMedia ASM1182e PCIe Packet Switch, to work for a couple of days on my NanoPi M4V2. After solving a few other issues, where it didn't even finish pci link training, it's finally being sort-of-recognized by the SBC (Atleast PCI ID [1b21:1182] is being read). But now, whenever the Adapter is plugged into the SBC, it doesn't boot and aborts with a kernel panic. I've read about this issue already in other forums and it seems to be a common problem with the PCIe Implementation on the RK3399. Usually, one just implements a delay between pci link training and scanning…

Hello everyone, I have been searching on the net trying to find a way to activate 3d acceleration since i want to use Jellyfin on my orange pi 5. Hi there, I don't know yet much about the USB gadget framework, but was wondering it I could use it to make an Orange Pi Zero or One seen as a video sink by the host computer. I know the framework should allow the board to be seen as an audio source, a video source, a Midi device and other things, but could it be seen as a video consumer of some sort ? My goal would be to grab the host's webcam content, encode and stream it on the SBC so that the host's CPU still has resource for other tasks. Does it make sense ? Thanks.

The Main part Is You Buying A Module and Plugging Your Fan Into It. : Here you go — two solid solderless picks: 1. Adafruit MOSFET Driver #5648 (the clean reference — genuine logic-level AO3406, flyback diode already onboard, jumper-friendly header, ~$4): https://www.adafruit.com/product/5648 Also stocked via resellers (Mouser/DigiKey/Pimoroni) if you search "Adafruit 5648." 2. Apparently I'm not good at this... What I want to do is to build a subnet of IoT devices in home/small-office environments. I'm not sure how I would implement this... Suppose: I have a classic wireless/modem/router at 192.168.1.1, windows / android devices already connected, fixed IP or DHCP. I want to build another subnet of IoT devices, say 192.168.200.x... At the center I have a Windows 7/8/10 PC with a single NIC, with two IP addresses, say 192.168.1.100 and 192.168.200.1 - this can reach all two subnets... The problem is the IoT devices (currently several OPi versions, Raspberry Pi's etc) which have fixed IP'…

I am running Armbian 23.05.01 bookworm, release 12, on a Libre Renegade (ROC-RK3329-CC) I installed RDP from Armbian config. Seems to have installed. I've shutdown, restarted several times. First I get a black screen on my Windows PC Then the screen turns turq and I see this error: When I click the OK I see this dialog: I've tried every one of those options and none work. I've tried them from my created user and also with root - no joy. I get an error like this: I posted here, not knowing exactly where to start. Dan Reynolds

Hi, Today I updated to Armbian v25.2 and did the good old reboot after the update. I never had issue with runing the SBC headless, but since the update I get a blinking blue status LED for a couple of minutes until the system boots. When I tried to plug in a monitor to get an idea what is going on, the SBC boots normally. First of all, I'm a complete novice to Armbian so my apologies if any of the following isn't up to the standard of this board. I've just installed Armbian 5.38 stable Debian GNU/Linux 9 (stretch) 4.14.18-sunxi on a Banana Pi. The same computer was previously running a domain controller under Bananian just fine. Installing Samba on Armbian works fine: r oot@Linux08:~# apt-get install samba attr Installing the packets to operate Samab as a DC also works fine: root@Linux08:~# apt-get install winbind libpam-winbind libnss-winbind libpam-krb5 krb5-config krb5-user However, attempting to provision a new Active Dirctory d…

Hi! I need to use the UART1 port on my NanoPi NEO. This usually means just adding "uart1" to the `overlays` in `/boot/armbianEnv.txt`. What I would like to do is build a custom image that already has the overlay activated by default. I read the following documentations: - https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Armbian_overlays/ - https://docs.armbian.com/Developer-Guide_User-Configurations/ But couldn't find anything about it. At first I tried to define the `DEFAULT_OVERLAYS` env var in `userpatches/config-example.conf` since I noticed it was defined in the configuration for the board, but it didn't work. I manage to make it work by …

Good evening, Armbian noob here (Debian veteran) working with an RPi 5. I've just installed `Armbian_24.2.5_Rpi5b_bookworm_current_6.6.23.img.xz` and would like to build the ZFS modules. Fresh install no X server, no GUI. Unfortunately the cursor is not shown in the terminal. You can type and delete text, but the character under the cursor position is not at all highlighted. I can make it shown with adding something like "echo -e '\e[?16;0;200c' " (colors it orange) to my bash prompt, but in then I start vim and the cursor is still hidden! I can set colorcolumn and colorrow to work around this in vim, but it seems that the problem lies deeper. So I looked around and found the setterm command. It works for setting my background and foreground colors, however when I do "setterm --cursor on" or "setterm --blink on" nothing happens, cursor is sti…

I am looking for recommendations, the outstanding group here has knowledge of pretty much every board out there I would think. I have had to abandon my OPI projects today. They are just not stable/usable. A board specific crash at every turn. Comes with a legacy kernel that doesn't even support a working BTRFS. The up to date mainline kernel is also far from working I am told. Ethernet masq causes reboot, out of memory killing processes/servers while there is lots of free ram and swap, SD slot crashes periodically making the system unusable till the storage is removed and is checked/repaired by a working system. So, even working around everything, with a repla…

Hello, I'll like to build my own kernel, mostly to learn more about Linux on ARM. The device I have is RK3399 based (Nanopi M4v2). Can I use the mainline kernel or are some parches needed? Where can I get the correct DTS? Is there any guide on how to do this? I'm not unfamiliar on how to build a custom kernel, but that was on x86/x64. ARM is a very different animal.

Hello, I am trying to copy my system from emmc to sd so i can install my current system on another OP. First problem was that when I am booting from emmc, sd card doesn't show up (fdisk -l). So i gave up on doing it that way and now i am copying to usb flash drive as image so i can re burn to sd and use in second OP I believe the image is going to be the entire 7.3gb of the emmc. Is there an easy way to undo the fs_resize? EG sudo fs_resize -"back to minimal option here" I'm hoping that will make the image smaller. or maybe a dd option? thanks.

I'm running Armbian 20.11.3 Buster on the Odroid N2 (kernel 5.9.14-meson64). I wanted information on memory pressure of the system, but I was surprised to see that pressure stall information (PSI) was not at /proc/pressure/memory. I then noticed that the PSI tool is not configured in the Armbian build. Specifically, the /boot/config-5.9.14-meson64 file contains "# CONFIG_PSI is not set" Why is pressure stall information not configured on Armbian? Are there better or other tools to provide this information? I briefly looked at free and /proc/meminfo, but I'm of the opinion that unused RAM is wasted and looking at free memory is not a good indicator if operation…

I loaded a kernel module from the official Linux Github repo, compiled and placed it within /lib/modules/......... Now if I make changes to this kernel module, and recompile it and reboot, the old one still gets called. If I rmmod and modprobe however, the new module gets loaded. The module I'm talking about is qcaspi. This issue doesn't occur on RPi so I'm thinking it could be an Armbian issue or an oversight by me. Any help please?

Hi guys, I stumbled upon an issue and I really hope someone can provide me with some insights. TL;DR: On my NanoPi M4 with Kernel 5.10.43 the upload bandwith is limited to about 70 % of the available bandwidth. With Kernel 4.4 it's ~95 % and with the friendlyarm-image I get the 100 % as reference. Expected behaviour: Usage of full available bandwidth I'm running a core version, no desktop. No configuration has been made on all three images and the tests have been performed with: iperf3 -p 5200 -N -t 20 -c speedtest.wtnet.de Result with Kernel 5.10.x (Armbian_21.05.1_Nanopim4_buster_current_5.10.35.img): 8.03 Mbits/sec …

I guess this is hardware-independent, so I post here. Looking for ways to disable IPv6 I found 3 ways to achieve this on Linux, none of them really working for armbian debian build. 1. /etc/sysctl.conf: net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6 = 1 net.ipv6.conf.default.disable_ipv6 = 1 net.ipv6.conf.lo.disable_ipv6 = 1 this disables the network interfaces to use IPv6, not IPv6 itself. This method is also known to cause trouble e.g with X-Forwarding via SSH and Postfix server. netstat still lists IPv6 entries 2. /etc/default/grub (GRUB tells the kernel not to load IPv6) This does not exist in armbian, I guess it is simply not using GRUB …

Hi. Working on orange pi 3. With the latest version of armbian (20.11.3), my eth0 network interface is not able to connect to network. If I deploy an old image (20.02.1), it works. As soon as I apt update and apt upgrade, reboot, the new armbian version shown becomes 20.11.3 again, and eth0 is not able to connect anymore : at startup, a long job runs with the message "A start job is running for Network Manager Wait Online" and after some times, fails with "Failed to start Network Manager Wait Online".
