As a newbie here I'd first like to send greetings to all members and to send a big THANK YOU to the support team. My problem is: After booting cubietruck and installing the updates the USB devices aren't recognized anymore. I'm using standard devices: wired Logitech mouse, wired Cherry keyboard. Updating went smoothly and finished normally. Immediately after it, at the console prompt the keyboard was already dead. I rebooted repeatedly via HW switch because I couldn't log in and keyboard LEDs were also off. My questions: What could I try to fix this? Is any important info missing? Here is an extraction fro…

Hi, I've installed Armbian 23.02 Jammy Gnome from https://www.armbian.com/orangepi-5/ on my new Orange Pi 5. Unfortunately, it looks ugly compared to Ubuntu on my x86_64 PC. The main problem is the irregular use of occasional single-colour icons - for example the trash-can in the dock. Is it possible to make Armbian 23.02 Jammy Gnome not use these single-colour icons, and use Ubuntu icons throughout?

I installed it on a 3D printer and when the system starts, the Wi-Fi connected to the USB slot is not detected. Before that, the network manager installed it. After starting the machine and the OS it does not work, but when connected to a LAN it is detected as a USB device. If you take it out and put it back in after the operating system starts, everything starts working. What is the problem? How to automate?

I use Armbian Jammy Xfc3 23.11.1 on my Banana Pi m3. It's on a 32 GB SD-Card. I did a backup with usbimager Flashed the image to another SD card with 128 GB. Changed the rootdev=UUID in /boot/armbianEnv.txt and the UUID in /etc/fstab But it won't boot What am I missing?

Hello, I have a cubieboard (first one), and i used it with VGA output, by changing script.bin values. Now i installed armbian with vanilla kernel, and realized that i can't use script.bin anymore (since its using device tree blobs). Does anyone know what do i need to change in dtb file to get a working VGA out ? or is there some kernel parameter to override dtb values ? Thanks PS thanks for the great work Igor!

Hello, I own OrangePI board and want to repurpose it as mediacenter and computer conected to TV however multimediacenter distributions as OSMC, OpenELEC dont support OrangePi, so i decided to use ubuntu desktop enviroment from ARMBIAN according to download page it should support some level of HW acceleration for video playback So my question is - would I be able to install KODI (formerly XBMC) and use it on ubutnu desktop enviroment with working video acceleration within KODI (similar to RaspberryPi and OSMC or OpenELEC) ?? Or is there any other way to use KODI on OrangePi ? Maybe on android designed for OrangePi ? Tkanks for answers

Hello, I'm looking to replace my x86 micro tower with a SBC, to mainly use it as a NAS and media player. On the hardware side, I would like to have a native SATA port (for the NAS hard disk), HDMI output and H.265 decoding (media player), at least 4GB of RAM (to be somewhat future-proof). Bluetooth is a plus to play some retro games Not sure about the OS storage: SD card, eMMC, an hard disk on another SATA port? At the moment I found two boards: the Radxa Rock 3A (with its DIY SATA over USB cable) and Odroid HC4. Both are supported by Armbian, but maybe there is a more recent board that I didn't find? Thanks.

Hi, in my case the test is on a Rock64 (4GB, v2 edition) using latest current Buster or Focal. The problem is in the first init configuration assistant. When selecting the "User language based on your location", after selecting es_AR.UTF-8 (I am from Argentina) it "auto-detects" my keyboard layout as AR which belongs to Arabic iirc (which is wrong). After this of course I can't type anything right on terminal. I had to fix it over ssh by issuing the command: sudo dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration.

I would kindly like to ask you to enable the intermediate functional block, ifb, as a module in the default kernel config for the BPI-R1 CONFIG_IFB=m It should not hurt anyone as it is just a module. The ifb network device is quite useful when doing experiments with tc (trafficx control), and it is absolutely necessary when you want to affect incoming traffic (normal tc netem works only on outgoing packets) Thank you.

Hey all! I'm wondering if there's a tried and tested method for preparing an armbian system to be made into an SD card image, including: * Clearing the right SSH data * Triggering firstrun to run next time * Shrinking partition * Any other suggestiosn NB : the filesystem for armbian seems to be quite different from raspbian / other. Which makes shrinking the partition from another computer quite confusing (e.g. when mounting a ripped img in ubuntu we just see one full partition across the entire SD card, even if there's lots of free space)

The serial communication is working via FTDI (using the USB side connected to the Banana Pi), which indicates there is no problem with the other device. This is what the configuration looks like using "sudo minicom -s". +…

I've noted that 'armbianmonitor -u' will obfuscate some detail such as IPv4 addresses prior to uploading, but it misses similar additional detail: IPv6 addresses, specifically 'global' scope, are left intact. These are on interface configurations and in resolv.conf configurations at least. 'domain' and 'search' directives in resolv.conf are left intact. These can (would) include local domain names, which may be sensitive outside of a given environment. username is exposed in showing group membership. This may be minor but in some cases may be sensitive outside of a given environment, and perhaps can be shown anonymously such as '### Group membership o…

Hello, I have several ARM boards in my possession and I want to be able to boot them all from a single SD card (I have commercial SW which requires activation and is tied to a particular SD card afterwards). So far, I have made this script which creates multiple /boot-boardname directories, replaces /boot with a symlink to one of those, and makes sure the right u-boot is written to the card. However, I have one little problem I couldn't yet solve: I would like to generate the correct /etc/modules file for a new board, and I don't know how. For example, Orange Pi Zero needs this xradio_wlan module for WIFI. Where do I find the info that this module is needed? A…

I have a question. Because there is a big mess in the naming of the first Orangepi series. I have a board with orangepi mini 2 image working. Archived Armbian 5.05 kernel 3.4.119. Orangepi pi 2 images do not launch. In appearance and specifications, the Orangepi PC 2 and mini 2 are almost identical. https://linux-sunxi.org/Xunlong_Orange_Pi_Mini_2. However, the specification for the mini 2 exists, although the manufacturer himself does not provide it on its main website. Could you add an introduction to the orange pi mini 2 board, with the old 3.4 kernel, so that you can build a system? Or maybe someone has some archival image to share?

I'm trying to get the armbian x86-64 generic image to run in virtualbox. I can successfully convert the *.img file to qcow2 and qemu will run it just fine. However, virtualbox fails to boot it in any format (qcow2, vmdk, vhd, vdi, etc). The grub menu comes up, but when trying to boot Linux then it just sits at a blinking cursor. I've tried converting this a variety of ways, such as using `qemu-img convert`, `vboxmanage convertfromraw` and `vboxmanage convertdd`. None of them yield an image that virtualbox will boot. Has anybody else had success with this, and/or know how to fix it? Thanks.

Hello to all. I'm trying to use the image Armbian_5.25_Orangepipcplus_Ubuntu_xenial_dev_4.9.4.img but I can not operate the webcam. With the image of the previous version, the webcam worked with gs2035 and vte_v42l modules, which can not find in the current image. Is it an omission or there are compatibility issues? Where could I find instructions (simple, if possible) to compile them? Thank you.

Hi. I added a second wireless interface to my Rock64 and created a wifi hotspot using armbian-config. Now .local domains are not resolved anymore. I tried changing in files /etc/resolvconf/resolv.conf.d/base and /etc/resolvconf/resolv.conf.d/head IP from 8.8.8.8 to 127.0.0.1 but nothing changed. avahi-resolve-host-name is ok: christian@rock64:~$ avahi-resolve-host-name orangepi2mini.local orangepi2mini.local 192.168.0.12 but christian@rock64:~$ ping orangepi2mini.local ping: orangepi2mini.local: Name or service not known Could anyone point me on what could have gone wrong? Many thanks. Christian

Hi. I bought some time ago a OPi One and a OPi PC. Yesterday i tried to setup them with armbian without success until I switched images from one to another and...it worked. I think that the download page for each should be fixed ( 5.4.20 image ). Made me crazy as a beginner until I figured out, tried different micro sd cards, different power supplies... Sorry for my english. Many thanks for developers who makes something stable for this boards.

I have an OrangePi PC and a BananaPi M1, and both of them are able to switch to USB host mode or device mode by editing dr_mode in corresponding .dtb file. But seems that both board are not able to support HNP protocol. From my understanding, OrangePi PC and BananaPi M1 only has perpherial-only OTG, please correct me if I am wrong. Is there any board that can support HNP? I need something that can switch USB mode(from host mode to device mode or the other way around) without reboot the board Any advice is appreciated

Hey the first time i tried armbian on tronsmart android box with sdcard , it was so seamless and so awesome. I am wondering if anyone has tried armbian on any android tablet. And it would be nice to support any of these tablets out there. In that way you don't have to worry about separate hdmi tv or monitor and accessories to use armbian. I always believe that arm's edge is in mobility, sleek and being minimal .

I have been trying to install a minimal XFCE4 desktop environment onto my Orange Pi Zero 2+ H5 but have run into a weird issue. Here is the command I use... sudo apt-get -y install xorg lightdm xfce4 tango-icon-theme gnome-icon-theme which I had found elsewhere in the forums. The main issue I have is that I cannot start the desktop with the normal user account. It works if I startup with this... sudo startxfce4 which runs the root user desktop, but fails when I try to run it as just a user. Does anybody know what I have done wrong?

Is anyone know how to set HDMI and LCD simultaneously on mainline kernel? We use a 3.5" LCD for which we made a patch (see enclosed). Now I'd like to have both HDMI and LCD showing the same framebuffer. Currently HDMI is only showing the console while signal is OK on LCD. Any hint would be appreciated. u-boot-sunxi-next.patch kernel-sunxi-next.patch

Hello all! Not sure if anyone saw this at all or not but the latest debian (11) now includes the panfrost and lima drivers! https://wiki.debian.org/PanfrostLima If I'm reading things correctly the needed bits and pieces (as well as a recent kernel) are in the packages "libglx-mesa0" and "libgl1-mesa-dri". Thought I would give this a go on a now (somewhat old-ish) Odroid XU4 device. It uses the mali t620 graphics chipset which I believe is in those panfrost drivers. I used the image file "Armbian_21.08.1_Odroidxu4_bullseye_current_5.4.142.img.xz". I did notice that the older kernel in that image (5.4.x) did not seem to detect anythi…

I have a Ubuntu Server 18.04 with postfix installed and configure it the same way as I did on my Helios64 running Armbian 21.02.3 Focal. Last week, one of my older drives died in the Helios, but I didn't get an email about this. My Ubuntu Server 18.04 will send me mails as soon as there's an issue in the SMART values from the drive. I didn't had to configure anything to do that apart from postfix. I can send a test mail from both my Ubuntu Server 18.04 and my Helios64 Armbian and receive both. Any idea what the reason is that my Ubuntu Server 18.04 is sending me those emails by default and how I could enable this on my Helios64?

Good afternoon! Tell me about the case, please, the post is great, but maybe I'm initially going the wrong way. Initial task: data exchange between a remote server and equipment with a USB interface and CDC RS-232 or HID protocols. Putting a computer / laptop next to it is not an option. I did not find any ready-made solutions, there are only options: 1. Single board computer. Fast, cheap, angry, easy to make a case and PoE power from ready-made components on the market. 2. Arduino - to assemble from prototyping boards is long, difficult and expensive. To develop something of my own - the navel will be untied with my knowledge. 3. Hardware "e…

Hello, I am running an orange pi one plus (H6 all winner). I tried to change partition size as suggested, although nothing working, here is what I tried: fdisk and the commands, with and without deleting old partition then adding partitions, I get an error message at the end when input w, people say to ignore it, although orange pi cannot boot afterwords I tried the instructions on their wiki, nothing works I tried cfdisk which seems to be working, although still when I df -h I cannot see the partition, and when I try to install something for some unknown reason my dpkg gets broken, and says that my mmcblk0p2 is …

Hi, Armbian gurus. I have make a new kernel and related modules for my pineh64 and want to test it. Thus they are not from dpkg. To test this kernel and modules. I have few questions: 1. About the symbolic links in /boot, are they all mandatory? What if I don't have an initramfs? 2. The Image linked file, is it have to be limited to certain compressed format to work properly? 3. Is there a recommended work flow to test a external kernel? Or I can just test by replacing Image, dtb, and the modules? Thank you.

This Android device uses a Linux4.4 kernel. Considering that my nanopc-T3 lacks the functions required by a higher version of Linux, I would like to transplant the 4.14 version of Linux to this Android device at most without the bootloader source code. What's interesting about the device tree? It seems that the kernel provided by the device manufacturer includes some device drivers that are not included in the Linux kernel nativery. will cross-version compilation be a problem? https://github.com/LineageOS/android_kernel_motorola_msm8998

I was hoping to get some idea if it would be possible to build Armbian for the ODroid OGU (S922X, similar to N2+) using a different Kernel. Specifically, using the version from JelOS (https://github.com/JustEnoughLinuxOS/distribution) who have made really good progress for this specific device. I've been building JelOS and modifying packages etc, but would prefer to use Armbian if possible. Any help appreciated.

hi, I plan to turn my cubietruck IR gateway, and home theater controller. The first thing to do is to be able to decode any remote control can be used with lircmd. But when I use irrecord IRW returns do anything with some remote and works with the other. While in leaving the base configuration (infrared keyboard) there is always something to send. The sunxi ir-limited driver there are thee? The second point is to emit infrared to control my devices and there is little information that is partt LIRC_GPIO seems you abandoned. I watch the IR driver in the mainline kernel and I find that it is very different. I wonder if it would not be helpful to bnackport in lega…

Hi All, just discovered this great project. Awesome to see it's so well frequented. I'm trying to do some realtime data acquisition on a OPi one with Armbian Debian Stretch. Following on from the link at the bottom, I'm trying to set an interrupt handler in my loadable kernel module onto a seperate core that I've isolated from the normal scheduler (using isolcpus=2,3 in boot.cmd/.scr). I've built the kernel using the Vagrant instructions with the 4.19.50 RT22 realtime patches. But I've also tested with no luck on the standard build from the download page. I'm using the irq_set_affinity_hint in the following manner, but it has no effec…

Using latest freshly installed Armbian_21.05.1_Orangepipc2_buster_current_5.10.34, then went to armbian-config and installed kernel headers. There were no errors so I thought they now should be there, butl /usr/src is still empty. There is also nothing in the system logs that would indicate an error in installing them. Many thanks for any help.

Hi, I've had orange pi one laying around and also couple of camera modules scrapped over different devices, which only one seems to be the "known" model of ov2640, which is supposed to be supported on linux mainline kernel, but unfortunately no module is compiled into armbian image, so I've had to compiled it solely for the running kernel. After lot of digging into the thing, mostly getting inspiration from this forum and threads about 5640, I've tried crafting overlay, with different results. This is the latest attempt, which created /dev/vide0, but no /dev/media0 is made, and also loading module fails with: [ 5812.695851] ov2640: loading out-of-tree modul…
