All of the docs that I see on how to use the kernel gpio_keys refers to dts (device tree). The kernel module is present in Armbian legacy 5.20 Jessie Desktop. /lib/modules/3.4.112...../gpio_keys.ko I understand it should map gpio inputs to keystrokes. But all usage/configuration info I can find refers to entries made in Device Tree -- gpio-keys { compatible = "gpio-keys"; left-key { label = "Left key"; gpios = <&gpio0 17 0>; linux, code = <69>; /* KEY_LEFT */ }; } This refers to some other underlying hardware, but it is an example... So my question... I don't believe Armbian legacy…

I wonder if any work is being done in that direction. Every browser i tried has some sort of issues, that makes it less than usable on H3 devices. -epiphany/midori: both work decently, but lock up after some time with 25% cpu usage (could be a webkit1 issue ?) -chromium: slow and apparently absent from repos -firefox: works ok, but quite slow -net surf: very fast and stable, but not up to date for web standards (probably what makes it fast in the first place) Am i missing any browsers here ? I propose we optimize one of those, that would work best on out allwinner devices in a similar fashion of what raspberry team did with epiphany. I'm sure lots of folks…

Do you guys think/know if this would work on a Orange pi. https://github.com/riptidewave93/RFLED-Server It seems to be written in golang, I don't know how is it with the gpio's if stuff is written in golang. Well here its UART stuff actually but you get the picture..

Hi, I would like to get a Debian Jessie version without systemd. I already tried to reconfigure an armbian image to remove systemd (There are several topics about this like this one or this discussion). This worked for me except for one important thing: initramfs. When I tried to configure and run my system using initramfs, I get always an error and system stop booting. I would like to know if it is possible to configure the build-tool (compile.sh) to directly create a Jessie image without systemd and with sysvinit. Something like this (as described here): preseed/late_command="in-target apt-get install -y sysvinit-core" Is it possible and what part …

Hi, I'm having a problem with some timezones and I couldn't find anything in the web related with it. This is in a NanoiPi M1 with ARMBIAN on it. The problem is that when I run the following commands the result is not the as expected: echo "America/Indianapolis" > /etc/timezone && dpkg-reconfigure -f noninteractive tzdata and then result is: Current default time zone: 'America/Adak' Local time is now: Thu Sep 8 03:08:41 HDT 2016. Universal Time is now: Thu Sep 8 12:08:41 UTC 2016. but if I run: echo "America/Indiana/Indianapolis" > /etc/timezone && dpkg-reconfigure -f noninteractive tzdata the result is as expected: Current default…

I want to build a GPS timeserver like http://rdlazaro.info/compu-Raspberry_Pi-RPi-stratum0.html I modified the kernel config to use the pps-gpio module in kernel , but since H3 linux kernel don't support device tree yet, Is there any method to assign a GPIO pin to this module ? I don't want to hard-code in the source code .

RPi has this interrupt driven GPIO input detection GPIO.add_event_detect(pin_number, GPIO.BOTH, callback=callback_function) Orange Pi has already this python GPIO function https://github.com/duxingkei33/orangepi_PC_gpio_pyH3 But I see only gpio.input(pin_number) function for GPIO input detection Anybody can answer whether possible to substitute RPi interrupt driven GPIO input detection?

So I'm trying to modify a certain Mycroft skill (python) to be able to play local news. Here is the commit: https://github.com/marksev1/mycroft-core/commit/164c7207374131ece23a8ddf40c7a7981f3c7084 And this python script uses mpg123 to play the mp3 from the url. 1.) If I play the mp3 in the url from the terminal normally it plays every time. 2.) If I'd try to play it from that python script it only randomly plays and in the meantime i get errors regarding jack. See here, first time it succeeded then it failed multiple times: 2016-09-05 14:11:02,437 - Skills - DEBUG - {"message_type": "speak", "context": null, "metadata": {"utterance": "Here is the top of the…

Ok, so I am bit of a linux noob. I understand the basics, and compiled my first image from source today, and hey it works! What I am trying to do is, build a image that has the packages that I need preinstalled. Packages that I need are(nfs-kernel-server, samba, speedtest-cli, openvpn, and a few other) I tend to muck up my installation quite frequently, as I play around with settings too much. What I had been doing is cloning the sd card with dd, but I am looking for a better more reliable way, that gives a fresh install each time. I didn't know whether I could edit the list of packages that are installed while compiling the image from source. Also, Tha…

In my spi protocol driver I send large buffers of data to be transferred. I am not interested in the data received so I leave the rx_buf as NULL. In the controller driver they have code to implement this use case: https://github.com/allwinner-zh/linux-3.4-sunxi/blob/6964d467510849e3e262518cb87bff7ef92e01f5/drivers/spi/spi-sunxi.c#L1003 However the transfer never completes and the kernel logs a time out for each transfer after 120 seconds. I have tried modifying the driver with various options like disabling the SPI_GC_TP_EN, which pauses transmit when the receive fifo is full, but it has no effect. Finally after hours of futile tinkering I decided to change m…

I think that the Armbian repository needs some fixes. 1. apt-cache policy shows the following: 500 http://apt.armbian.com xenial/main armhf Packages release o=. xenial,a=xenial,n=xenial,l=. xenial,c=main,b=armhf origin apt.armbian.com I think that o=. xenial is not intended. I’d expect o=Armbian or that like. Same applies l=. xenial. The following is the output for a standard Ubuntu repo: 100 http://ports.ubuntu.com xenial-backports/universe armhf Packages release v=16.04,o=Ubuntu,a=xenial-backports,n=xenial,l=Ubuntu,c=universe,b=armhf origin ports.ubuntu.com 2. apt-get update shows weak SHA1 An apt-get update shows the following…

I am using ARMBIAN Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS 4.6.3-cubox on SolidRun HummingBoard-i2eX Dual SoC i.MX6 Dual Single Board Computer. I have an USB 3.0 controller attached to the board (via a PCI slot). As far as I know, xhci_hcd has to be compiled for the controller to function properly. In the default installation, xhci_hcd is disabled ( /boot/config-4.6.3-cubox says: "# CONFIG_USB_XHCI_HCD is not set"). Do I have to setup a complete build environment as descried here http://docs.armbian.com/Developer-Guide_Build-Preparation/ or I can just somehow compile the module on the board itself? Where exactly do I get the sources from? Thanks

Good afternoon. I install Armbian on OrangePi_+2 and OrangePi_PC. Hi, I am not sure but it maybe a bug in the script. After starting device from SD card (it is visible as /dev/mmcblk0 device) I have /etc/fstab as following: root@orangepiplus:/etc# cat fstab /dev/mmcblk0p1 / ext4 defaults,noatime,nodiratime,commit=600,errors=remount-ro 0 1 tmpfs /tmp tmpfs defaults, nosuid 0 0 /var/swap none swap sw 0 0 Then I run nand-sata-install script. Hi Folks, In my continuing adventures in Armbian (coming from RHEL/Fedora professionally), I've discovered that Jessie uses very old packages for various things I'd like to use to get closer to a Fedora-like experience. For example, I'd really like to use https://packages.debian.org/testing/net/firewalld. Any advice you could give on how to use some testing packages on Armbian? I thought ensuring 'backports' was listed in my /etc/apt/sources.list file would do it but alas no dice. I've tried the following command based upon this Debian wiki page: https://wiki.debian.org/Backports#Installing_backports_on_the_command_line # aptitude -t jessie-backports insta…

Hi, I'm using raspberrypi ili9488 GPIO LCD (Image here) and I was able to make it working with notro's fbtft drivers and it works fine. What I am trying to do now is to control the backlight or just turn it on and off inside my application with a linux command or for example by turning on and off a GPIO pin but I was not successful. Turning on a off the +5v and +3.3v did turn the whole lcd of and when I turned it back on it did not work and I had to restart the system. I managed to control the backlight by using a transistor on the lcd board backlight power pin but it was not so practical as it needed a lot of time and what we do is producing more than 1000 product ea…

Hi all, We are now using ARMbian build tools as our 1st choice for all future DietPi SBC images. Currently, we support these devices that use ARMbian at their base: BPI Pro BPI M2+ OPI PC NanoPi Neo I'd like to increase this so we can support more boards with the same ARM SoC (eg: H3). Unfortunately, like most, i do not have access to every SBC out there. As we do further manual optimizations to the ARMbian images, after compile (eg: DietPi-RAMlog, DietPi-RAMdisk, package removals, prep for DietPi scripts etc etc), having the SBC device is essential to creating our image. I'am curious to know if the following is true: Are the Sun8i compiled kernels and mod…

I know how to work with GPIO though the /sys interface, but that's not fast enough for my application. Is there a faster interface for working with GPIO on the H3, similar to the fast GPIO on the RPi. I believe fast GPIO on the RPi manipulates GPIO though a memory map interface. Is that possible with the H3. Has anyone done it?

I can not believe it can be complicated... and again I have no idea what to do? Any help.... /R

Just as warning - It seems that Orange Pi devices have quite "easy to burn" hdmi port. This post is quite clear about it: http://www.orangepi.org/orangepibbsen/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=1556 And case happened to me - I did it simply by plugging in and out hdmi cable. At some moment "no signal" is coming from HDMI (or maybe I should say "nothing is coming" ). It is on my Orange Pi PC. Now I wait for composite TV/Audio cable (in post I am referring there is information that TV out is still working). Or my device will be changed to "server" only...

Hello, everybody! Today I've got very interesting behavior during debian8-3.4.112 startup. If the network cable is plugged in - everything is ok. dhclient starting correctly with an ip address obtained from dhcp server. BUT! If the board started with unolugged network cable, dhclient do not start. Moreover, if I try to connect network cable when the system is up and running, dhclient is never start and network is unreachable respectively. Does somebody knows how to solve this problem?\ Thanx a lot!

So basically if I wish to backup the sd card after installing the Armbian OS, how would I do that? In raspbian we put the image to sd card using win32diskimager. To backup the sd card we can just read the data back to computer and name the img file. How can we do that in armbian at least the easy way? Why we can view raspbian image's folder from window? What I understand is linux use ext4 file format which window cannot recognise as with armbian sd card? Many Many thanks!!

Hi basically i am switching from Raspberry pi to orangepi PC. Managed to find armbian which looks way better than raspberry gui! Now my problem is i used raspi-config to set login after POST in CLI in Rpi but in armbian we dont have this config thing and I want to make the system login at CLI then I could either continue to use CLI or go into gui mode by typing startx. Any ideas for this? I have tried systemctl enable multi-user.target but it seems nothing change and I also tried to find the directory of grub but there is none at armbian. Many thanks, Gabriel

I think I have a bad gc2035 module that I'll soon put aside, but there's something odd I don't understand. Since it's cheap it doesn't merit a lot of attention, but I've got something that doesn't make sense to me. If you understand, please let me know. I thought the sensor was completely trashed, but it produced a halfway decent image when aske…

Is the SPI kernel driver enabled by default in 5.16? If not, how can I enable it in armbian (what are the magic steps raspi-config makes to enable it in raspbian - I'd like to make the changes manually in armbian) By default I can see dmesg | grep spi [ 0.454454] sunxi_spi_chan_cfg()1376 - [spi-0] has no spi_regulator. [ 0.454468] sunxi_spi_chan_cfg()1376 - [spi-1] has no spi_regulator. [ 0.455034] spi spi0: master is unqueued, this is deprecated ls -al /dev/spi* crw------- 1 root root 153, 0 Jul 13 06:54 /dev/spidev0.0 And when I attach a multisegment MAX7219 I get the same results, as if it's not really enabled and seeing the hardware.

Maybe this is a little off topic but I am researching and trying to find a PCB designer that can design a custom Allwinner board. Does anyone have any great leads for such a freelanser or firm? Any leads are appreciated. I love the platform and want to incorporate the system in a product I am working on but I realize that I will need to modify the board in order to fit my product. Cheers.

I think webrtc is a very interesting feature for such devices. Unfortunately , I only saw a drive ( UV4L : https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=105019) for Raspberry Pi2/Pi3 in linux. Does somebody here have any idea to cross-compile native webrtc source code for such a device ? Regards ! GuoFu Han

I have a Windows PC and I'm going to install a Linux distribution to do some software development for my Raspberry Pi and my Orange Pi. I like Mint but since I am starting over... is there any specific OS that would be easier to use than another when I am looking at Pi? Like if I wanted to build a new Armbian image. What are people generally using as their main OS for development? Edit: Build docs mention this, so maybe Ubuntu 14.04 LTS is cleanest if that's already being used by some devs? creates development environment on the top of X86/AMD64 Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, Thanks! Can't compile my RTL8188eu driver any more since upgrade from 5.14 to 5.15. Any advice where they gone or how to fix the make file? Background: the shipped driver are broken when it comes to WPA PEAP Enterprise. The wifi module quickly overheats and stops. My current understanding is that this driver uses hardware encryption which overloads under this condition. My solution was to use these driver, that apparently don't use HW encryption: https://github.com/universam1/rtl8188eu Unfortunately, they don't compile any more now because of missing kernel files. Any help? Thanks

Hi, currently I have armbian installed on an SD-Card with kernel 3.4.112-sun7i on Banana Pi. I'd like to test how armbian works installed on SATA with vanilla-kernel. Therefore I would install armbian (Vanilla) on SATA. Switching between both systems would then require a shutdown, exchange of SD-Card and startup the system again. Since i am a lazy person I'd like to know whether it is possible to use the SD-Card with 3.4.112 and just exchange the folder /boot with the one from the SD-Card I installed armbian-Vanilla on SATA (to avoid standing up, walking to the banana pi which is located in another room, exchanging the SD-Card, rebooting, walking back and sitting …

I am experiencing problems with the gcc compiler. When I compiling a simple program it gives me the following error: main.c:6:1: error: expected '=' , ',' , ';' , 'asm' or '__attribute__' before '{' token { ^ main.c:9:1: error: expected '{" at end of input } ^ I have the 3.4.112 kernel installed, when I compile and run the same program on my desktop it works, what can the problem be? Below is the code. main.c #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include "header.h" int main(void){ printf("%d", returnSeven()); return 0; } source.c int returnSeven(void){ return 7; } header.h int returnSeven(void);

Hi all, yesterday I updated my system (Banana Pi) to the latest version (5.15, legacy-kernel) with apt-get update && apt-get upgradeAfter the upgrade the fixed-IP for the device was gone. It looks like the link /etc/network/interfaces has been overwritten with a new file during the upgrade - so I had to set up fixed IP again in /etc/network/interfaces like described here: http://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Getting-Started/#how-to-set-fixed-ip For the future I suggest changing the the upgrade-script so that the fixed IP is not overwritten. Additionally I think it would be good to write a short note in the changelog that the setting might be gone after the up…

Hello, I am trying to copy my system from emmc to sd so i can install my current system on another OP. First problem was that when I am booting from emmc, sd card doesn't show up (fdisk -l). So i gave up on doing it that way and now i am copying to usb flash drive as image so i can re burn to sd and use in second OP I believe the image is going to be the entire 7.3gb of the emmc. Is there an easy way to undo the fs_resize? EG sudo fs_resize -"back to minimal option here" I'm hoping that will make the image smaller. or maybe a dd option? thanks.

I've started playing around with gpio, and thus far I don't have problems with any of the following: Access via the WiringOP C or Python bindings Access via /sys/class/gpio_sw However I can't seem to get the access via /sys/class/gpio to work. According to http://linux-sunxi.org/GPIOI need to write the pin number as defined in the fex file to /sys/class/gpio/export for 3.4 kernel (mainline kernel codes the pin number). For WiringOP pin #1 (physical pin #12 on the header), this is PD14, which is gpio_pin_5 according to the fex file, however the following does not light an LED connected to the pin: # echo "5" >/sys/class/gpio/export # echo "out" >/sys/class…

For my Orange Pi PC, I just switched from the buggy debian-image to Armbian. Armbian works fantastic, but there is one small problem with my ssh reverse tunnel. On the (old) debian system i had my script tunnel.sh: #!/bin/bash /usr/bin/autossh -p2000 -fNC -R 9000:localhost:9091 -R 5057:localhost:4949 -R 8000:localhost:8888 -R 10012:localhost:22 myusername@www.mydomain.com The remote Pi will call my gateway Pi at port 2000. Whenever i call the gateway-ip:9000 i am at port 9091 on my remote pi etc. Worked flawless. After I changed to Armbian, this mini-script for tunnel.sh works, too: #!/bin/bash /usr/bin/autossh -p2000 -fNC -R 10012:localhost:22 myusername@ww…

I've spent a day going crazy trying to sort this and am failing. I want to share an NTFS USB hard drive via samba to a windows machine. At the moment I have shared the home directory which works fine but whenever I try to access the NTFS USB drive I get a permission error from the Windows machine. As far as I can glean it's to do with mounting permissions on the NTFS drive but how do I sort this when armbian automounts the drive?

Hey there, we are using the Olimex Lime (A20) and the Debian Wheezy image of Igor. Great work. We were wondering what you strategies are concerning updating all relevant system parts (bootloader/kernel/application). Is there any reference implementation that anyone could recommend? We are following the trend of building "Murphy-compatible" (https://www.kernel.org/doc/ols/2005/ols2005v1-pages-21-36.pdf) update mechanisms, but are looking how it is best done. Application wise this can be fairly easy be done via docker - which we are using - but what mechanisms are used for the bootloader itself and the kernel. The should be an atomic update procedure an…

Hello! I was very happy, when the first OrangePI came out and had HDMI and VGA output. With this device it was possible to use the board with two monitors (mirror desktop and expand desktop) I use this board as thin-client in our office - connecting to windows server via rdesktop. Another way we use the boared is working with one monitor via rdesktop and running with the other Monitor or TV-Set a webpage witch is displaying infos. It is running perfect and we can save money because there is very low energy consumation and the OPIs are cheap. I think this kind of using the OPI wourd have good future. Now this board is no more availabe. I am not a tec…

Hello everybody, and thank you Igor for developing, and the community for supporting amrbian, it's really a marvel and works like a charm on my Orange PC. I also apologise beforehand for my lack of experience or knowledge with linux. So, I setup my OPi PC to work as an always-on torrent box using jessie dekstop. I installed transmission on it and it works great, except one thing that causes me problems. I download and seed to torrents on a 64 gb sandisk usb flash key, and every time I reset the device, the usb key gets mounted at a new mount point. For instance, if I set up transmission to use /sandisk/downloads folder to download, it does fine, but after a reset, the os…

We need you to help us improve THS settings. In case you have a Banana Pi M2+, OPi One, Lite or NanoPi M1 without heatsink and are that experienced to build Armbian images on your own (requires an x86-64 PC/VM running Ubuntu 14.04 or 16.04) or install a new kernel using .debs as outlined below and also want to help developing better settings (less temperatures, more performance in throttling situations) then please read through this whole Github issue here: https://github.com/igorpecovnik/lib/issues/298 If you're not already too discouraged by this stuff then we ask you to build/install a new legacy kernel for Orange Pi H3 or Banana Pi M2+ and ensure /boot/script.bin …

Hi there First of all thanks a lot for your images. Currently I am trying to setup my R1 as wifi access point using the image Lamobo-r1_Debian_3.2_jessie_4.1.2 The out of the box hostapd let me connect successfully from my wireless devices. BTW, I could not get hostapd working stable with Bananian and self compiled drivers as well. Symptoms were similar. I am also not using any harddisk or USB devices. I also used a second R1 and have the same problems. Does anyone have the same sy…

Sorry for a newbie question. I am setting up a raid system based on flash drives on a Orange Pi One and every thing is working fine. I am now thinking of moving from ext4 for F2FS but I can't figure out how to get it to work. I have installed f2fs-tools and managed to format the drive but I can't seem to mount it. I can't seem to run "modprobe f2fs". Does this mean that I need to recombile the kernel or what? I am not intending to boot from f2fs. Just mount the raid system for storage.

Hi guys, I have a BPI-M3, and wanted to roll my own build, given the current dissatisfaction with the builds provided by Sinovoip themselves. In any case, I have tested this locally, and it builds a bootable sd card, which works on UART only. It doesn't have working ethernet or WiFi, but at least you can interact with it over UART. Please feel free to review and comment on the script, and let me know if there are any issues running in your environment (ie, prerequisites that I have already, and make an invalid assumption that it is present). As per the comment inside the script, it will wipe the sdcard specified, and repartition with one partition whic…
