EDIT: All of the below written stuff is outdated and not recommended to run on any Armbian installation anyway. Simply use Armbian with default settings and you're done. In case you want to adjust settings, search the forum for 'h3consumption' utility. EDIT: Please be aware that it seems voltage switching on the various Orange Pi One boards seems to have some tolerances. A user reported his Orange Pi One crashes randomly when staying on the lower voltage with the new fex settings so unless it's confirmed which voltages are really used or how to measure the real voltage the proposed fix here might lead to undervoltage/stability issues on some boards. …

Dear all, I come with a basic question: is armbian for H3 advanced enough and without roadblocks future proof, or is it still risky? Should it soon become mainline or for one or more years, it will be mainly for advanced users? I need to set-up a Openelec platform with software DSP features (ALSA, LADSPA, SOX...). I need easy to setup audio features (over USB, I2S, HDMI). I'm far from being a Linux expert. I don' t know how to compile an image, I discover SBC world.... I don't want to enter in too steep learning curve, and be able to focus on my project. Are H3 and Orange pi products ok for me, or would you advice to go directly to Rpi? I understand that there…

Hi, Trying to build a full installation for an Orange Pi One. Building on a DigitalOcean ubuntu 15.10x64 host with 20Gb free disk where apt-get update has been run. As of 25 April, one year after the release of Debian 8, alias "Jessie", and nearly three years after the release of Debian 7, alias "Wheezy", regular security support for Wheezy comes to an end. The Debian Long Term Support (LTS) Team will take over security support. https://www.debian.org/News/2016/20160425 Important: Wheezy-LTS only supports i386 and amd64. The support for armel and armhf is waiting for confirmation from all related Debian Teams. Users of other architectures are encouraged to upgrade to Debian 8 ("Jessie").

Hello. Sorry for my English, I use google-translate. Maybe someone already has experience and uses script / program to create a backup SD card entirely in the form of an image on an external storage (HDD, USB-flash), or over the network? I am at the moment once a week turn off the system (I have a banana pi), remove the SD card and make a copy of the system image (using imagewriter.exe). I want to automate the process, and without removing the SD card from the board. It's real? Many thanks!

Hi All, I have a strange prob regarding Armbian on my Banana Pi. I have installed vanilla Jessie on my BaPi (1st modell with an SD, not uSD). I have also installed tvheadend, lighttpd and the kernel-nfs-server (beyond the packages already in the image). The BaPi is connected to a switch (no WiFi), and it is headless. When it starts all works as expected. But after some hours logging in via SSH stops working. The sshd itself runs, if I try to login (with pubkey auth) I can see that the connection to the sshd is successfully established, but when the shell should be started it hangs forever: debug1: kex: server->client aes128-ctr hmac-sha2-256 none debug1: kex:…

Hello, I am runnign armbian 5.05 jessie server on an OrangePi One. I wish to test network audio streams so I installed pulseaudio to do some tests. As long as ALSA works fine with HDMI output, I thought that pulseaudio would work the same, but I was wrong. The basic pulseaudio installation (apt-get install pulseaudio) turned to be a non effective way to obtain pulseaudio support. Actually this is strange because if I set the default pulseaudio sink to analog audio, it works fine (I get no sound but just because the Opi One has no analog connector). When I set the default sink to hdmi audio, I get indiscernible short discharges instead of music and pulseaudio…

If you are reading this you've probably discovered that there are a few things about the Orange Pi series of boards that can be frustrating. I know I have been.. I purchased an Orange Pi PC and two Orange Pi Ones anticipating Pi bliss at a fraction of the cost of the Raspberry equivalent. I tried, and tried hard, to load distro after distro of various linux flavors onto micro SD cards with many a blank screen or an aborted boot attempt.. Orange Pi site distros, laboris distros, Armbian distros.. nothing seemed to make a difference. Reading about power supply issues, ornery boot processes, and overscan issues I was really beginning to think this was m…

Since December 2013, when I started to deal with CLI Debian images and support them, things become ... bigger. My prime motivation was only to build an working Linux image for some amateur based services. Project brought a lot of fun, a lot of new toys on my desk but also tears and frustrations. I hope and wish that public use our work to the greatest degree. Blog comments - your questions and (not only my) answers - become large and valuable knowledge base for ARM single board computers and general Debian / Ubuntu problems. I already manage to pack some of the into the FAQ but I'll need your help and patience within summarizing this into General FAQ. You only need…

I am thinking about the Over-scan on first boot issue and the problems people are having trying to log in if the login questions are off the screen bottom. I under stand it is caused by not having a lot of development into the screen size adjusting software. It is essential that the lead developers prioritize the main Armbian bugs issues and I do not consider on the fly screen resizing a major issue when a stop gap solution could possibly work. My temporary solution would simply be that all logins scripts be tripled. ie.. Login login login: password password password: Enter New Password Enter New Password Enter New Password: S…

Hi. I'm using CubieTruck with Armbian Jessie, attached with a Sata disk. I have tried these method to run hdparm when the system reboots, but none of them was successful. /etc/hdparm.conf /etc/udev/rules.d/50-hdparm.rules /usr/lib/systemd/system-sleep/hdparm_set Finally, I chose the /etc/rc.local file, and add the hdparm command. hdparm -B 127 -S 242 /dev/sda However, it is not working always. I rebooted several times, and check the APM status with 'hdparm -B /dev/sda', the results vary. Sometimes it shows APM_level = not supported, but some other times APM_level = 127, as I specified. I don't know what was wrong about the command. ** I've found out that hddtemp(…

Hello, when initially trying to set up a Router using tidos tutorial with the latest armbian version i miserably failed on the hostapd part. After some fiddling around, I decided to check /proc/net/dev and found out that the WLAN card was linked to wlan1 instead of wlan0 After changing both the interface and the hostapd.conf I still can't seem to get hostapd to working with the error: Failed to initialize interface Currently I'm using the driver from https://github.com/pvaret/rtl8192cu-fixesand my hostapd.conf file is attached. Is there any problem with my hostapd.conf or is the device used somewhere else? Thank you in advance and have a nice day.

It's important to believe blindly in numbers! At least when you try to be mislead as much as possible! Yesterday Michael Larabel from Phoronix fired up his usual set of passive benchmarking tests for the new Raspberry Pi 3 and he still uses rather questionable results for other boards to compare with (he claims that it would be sufficient to use a board with 'factory settings', run a set of synthetic benchmarks, don't analyse the results or even think about whether they could be wrong and treat the results as the truth) RPi 3 is 4 times faster than OPi PC and 6 times faster than OPi Plus? Really? If you just try to think about these graphs for a second it…

Hi, When I format my hard drive and I want to make partitions, just / for the system and Swap partition, Gparted only allows me to make one, saying I only can make one primary partition, so I make one for / (in this step extended and logical options are disabled) Then I want to use the free space for swap and all options are disabled, not even logical or extended partition options. and from the beginning I only can chose logical partition because extended is disabled. So it looks Gparted only allows me to use the entire disk as logical partition. If I use another app in windows to make those partitions then in linux Gparted says there is one error and it can't …

First off, awesome job on all the Orange PI images. I have only had chance to try the Orange PI 2 image so far There are small issues I can find ,I don't know if their known: I cannot set resolution at all, its stuck on some low one. I would kindly like to ask you to enable the intermediate functional block, ifb, as a module in the default kernel config for the BPI-R1 CONFIG_IFB=m It should not hurt anyone as it is just a module. The ifb network device is quite useful when doing experiments with tc (trafficx control), and it is absolutely necessary when you want to affect incoming traffic (normal tc netem works only on outgoing packets) Thank you.

Hi, as I am testing ARMBian (Vanilla Kernel) and also testing to set up a reliable Seafile server on my banana Pi, I would like to hear some opinions from the Pro's here (Igor, tkaiser, zador.blood.stained) I'm thinking of choosing btrfs for my data SSD hooked on SATA port and here I am not sure about following questions: * Trim support * performance compared to ext4 writing reading especially smaller chunks (seafile makes chunks out of big files) * reliability? I can hardly find any info regarding "ARMBian and btrfs" * Current drawbacks? May be btrfs is not the right choice for servers like Seafile? * Is btrfs good for SSD? May be it has more indirect write …

Hi, I'm desperately trying to force my ARMBian jessie to install nginx from the following repository: deb http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org/raspbian/jessie main contrib non-free rpi As armbian does have only nginx 1.6.2 in its repository I would like to force updating nginx and mariadb from the mentioned repository, but whenever I try to apt-get install it, it never installs nginx 1.9.9 but 1.6.2 instead and claims it is the recent one. Although I even uncommented all the other repositories temporarily in my /etc/apt/sources.list Somehow I also could not get it work with pinning, but may be I am doing something wrong. Hello I just started using Armbian to try to salvage a Banana PI M2 that I had given up on more or less due to bad system images and lack of support from the maker. And so far the Armbian has solved all my problems that I had with the images from Banana PI, except..... I cannot get USB sticks to mount. I installed thunar-volman and tick marked Mount removable drives when hot-plugged, Mount removable drives when inserted, Browse removable media when inserted. Is there something I might be missing ? Thanks

Hi all I am currently working on my Orange Pi Plus A31s. What I did with your image so far: The image Link for Debian Jessy pointed me to the Banana Pi M2 image. Downloaded it, dd-ed it to the sdcard, powerup, the red led keeps flashing for ever (waited 15 minutes) So i started to wander around the sdcard and noticed the link /boot/script.bin pointing io /boot/bin/bananapim2.bin. But this file was not present. I tried all 3 images, but i was unable to find that file. I copied it over from other project, that did not work. And I copied it from the same folder /boot/bin/orangepi.bin -> /boot/bin/bananapim2.bin with the same result. Can you help me wi…

What to do to switch from ext4 to F2FS (one big caveat: Partition/filesystem resizing doesn't work with F2FS so this is only for you if you know the size of your SD card prior to building the image)? I tried the following so far: apt-get install f2fs-tools define size of f2fs partition in compile.sh (eg. for a 4 GB SD card use »SDSIZE="3600"«) adjust »BOOTSIZE=16« in lib/configuration.sh (line 26) replace »mkfs.vfat -n "$IMAGEVOLUME"« with »mkfs.ext4 -q« in lib/deboostrap.sh (line 66) replace »mkfs.ext4 -q« with »mkfs.f2fs« in lib/deboostrap.sh (line 67) add »-tf2fs« to mount option in lib/deboostrap.sh (line 68) comment »shrinking_raw_image "$DEST/out…

Hey, I basically need the LXC Kernel modul for the lxccu homematic software. Is this already included in the newer kernel drivers for the available debian or do I need armbian? I'm not 100% sure what the differences for armbian and debian are? Could someone explain that to me? thx! Cheers Btw: Is the Allwinner R8(m) also supported? I'm just starting to build up the community for the $9 computer CHIP which uses this processor. Would be great to have some more ways in building kernels. I really need to config my own kernel there to included touch screen drivers. Is this possible with the armbian too?

Hi all, is anyone running Debian Jessie on a Bananapi? I'd like to upgrade from debian wheezy to Jessie, but I am afraid of a performance degrade due to the fact that ramlog is not available for Jessie. Since linux tends to write a lot of things to its logs, do you know wether Jessie performs worse, better or the same as Wheezy on Bananapi? I use my board as a proxy, router and web server...

Here is another unsolved problem for me: I can only get my USB Stick to work if i plug it to to the onboard USB. If i use an USB-Hub ( tried different ones) it is not possible. There is no message coming up with tail -f /var/log/messages. If i try to mount: mount: /dev/sdb1 is not a valid block device I need more than two USB devices, so a USB Hub is important for me. I tried active and passive Hubs and off course different USB-Sticks. What can i do to solve this problem?

Or is there any other way to use KODI on OrangePi ? Maybe on android designed for OrangePi ? Tkanks for answers

Hi guys, Using Debian Jessie/armbian 4.5 here. Was today using tcpdump, tested out also tshark, and aparently the BPF rules are not working... (?) This issue is present both with libpcap 1.7.4-1 and 1.6.2-2 As an example: rui@ruir:/etc$ sudo tcpdump -n not port 22 | egrep "22[ :]" tcpdump: verbose output suppressed, use -v or -vv for full protocol decode listening on eth0, link-type EN10MB (Ethernet), capture size 262144 bytes 14:50:34.559080 IP xx.xxx.254.104.22 > xxx.xxx.xxx.2.…

Hi, First of all: Thank you for all the great work that you're doing, Igor! I really appreciate it. I think about buying a PCDuino3 Nano board and I'd like to install your Debian Jessie Vanilla kernel image on it. However, the current download page states that NAND support is not implemented yet. Can you tell (approximately) how soon it will be supported? Or are there other ways to install the image to the NAND flash? Thank you in advance!

Hi, first of all, a great compliment to the makers of armbian, really good job you're doing! I installed legacy ubuntu trusty for pcsuino3-nano on my pcduino3 (not nano) and everything works fine. First i tried the vanilla version, but i could not manage to get UART2 (ttyS1) to work, so i switched back to legacy where everything with UART2 works properly. Maybe someone knows how to get ttyS1 working with the vanilla kernel on pcduino3 with that image provided. But I'm happy with legacy kernel for now. Now to the question, what i like better with vanilla is, that there's no preinstalled desktop-environment. I am using the pcduino3 headless as embedded d…
