Not a feature request, I'm just curious about why things are like this. Context around the error message Line 170: tries to enable ACS but CONFIG_ACS disabled 1 errors found in configuration file '/etc/hostapd/hostapd-5.conf' Failed to set up interface with /etc/hostapd/hostapd-5.conf Failed to initialize interface Most relevant part of hostapd-5.conf ... hw_mode=any ... channel=acs_survey ... just downloaded orange-pi-3-lts's latest debian bookworm available on your website I found out that apt sources includes a reference to a beta repository didn't expect that and I'd rather prefer to avoid beta... what's better: just comment out the beta updates or build a custom image not containing betas?

Hi all, is anyone running Debian Jessie on a Bananapi? I'd like to upgrade from debian wheezy to Jessie, but I am afraid of a performance degrade due to the fact that ramlog is not available for Jessie. Since linux tends to write a lot of things to its logs, do you know wether Jessie performs worse, better or the same as Wheezy on Bananapi? I use my board as a proxy, router and web server...

I guess this is hardware-independent, so I post here. Looking for ways to disable IPv6 I found 3 ways to achieve this on Linux, none of them really working for armbian debian build. 1. /etc/sysctl.conf: net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6 = 1 net.ipv6.conf.default.disable_ipv6 = 1 net.ipv6.conf.lo.disable_ipv6 = 1 this disables the network interfaces to use IPv6, not IPv6 itself. This method is also known to cause trouble e.g with X-Forwarding via SSH and Postfix server. netstat still lists IPv6 entries 2. /etc/default/grub (GRUB tells the kernel not to load IPv6) This does not exist in armbian, I guess it is simply not using GRUB …

Not sure exactly where to post this, or how to ask it, but here goes... In the 'olden days' of my Linux adventures, compiling one's own kernel was standard practice. Thankfully, now many years later, I have become content with the 'standard' kernels (e.g. Debian) that are available to me on my x86 computers. Now, enter the world of ARM-based computing, and the possible return of self-compiled kernels. In my specific case, I am interested in using Pi-like devices to run a GPS-based time server with the additional accuracy of PPS. From my understanding, there are two optional-but-useful changes that would be required to maximal accuracy: - turnin…

Hello, I've found a few logrotate bug reports in search, but they are not related to a "HDD" install. I have two armbian systems on different boards set up and installed on SD cards. Both systems have the email facilities set up, which is why I found out about this. This is what I get once a day via email from each of the systems: From: Cron Daemon <XXXXXXXXXXXX> X-Google-Original-From: root@cubie (Cron Daemon) Received: by cubie (Postfix, from userid 0) id 5FC6511FA06; Mon, 25 Mar 2019 06:25:13 +0000 (UTC) To: root@cubie Subject: Cron <root@cubie> test -x /usr/sbin/anacron || ( cd / && run-parts --report …

Hi! I just wanted to ask if somebody knows if the accuracy of the internal temperature sensor (A20 Chip) is defined somewhere? Hello, guys. I am really enjoying Armbian on PBP. I have tried upgrading to Ubuntu 19.10 and it runs fine, just have one problem on apt update (also when I change the sources.list to disco) I found that changing some script file or modifying some symlink should solve it, but I am not sure how to do that. Hello, I'm actually working on the implementation of the MAX9860 Mono Audio Voice Codec in the devicetree. TheTLV320AIC3204 audio codec works fine and the operating system (Linux embedded) can see it with the command "aplay -l". So in the kernel, i have activated the MAX9860 audio codec, however, i don't know how to declare it in the device tree next to my TLV codec. So i have tried something like this in my i2c node: max9860: max9860@10 { compatible = "maxim,max9860"; reg = <0x10>; clocks = <&max9860_clock>; clock-names = "mclk"; supply-av = <®_aud_avdd>; su…

I was using bananian for the last year(and I still do) on a M1 for a operational running webservice. Is it worth the time to switch to armbian? Are there any big differences? I want to switch the board sometime in the future; thats why I'm interested in the more flexible armbian in the first place. But right now I cant find a good alternative to the M1 for my use case.

Hi, All! I have modified w1-therm kernel module. Now device directory contains two more files w1_read and w1_convert_all. You can read sensor memory without triggering temperature conversion using the first one and you can trigger the temperature conversion on all sensors (implemented using "skip ROM") with the second one. I needed this modification to speed up sensor reading. Now I start temperature measurement on all sensors (it takes 750ms on 18B20) and then read the results. Earlier reading sensor (using w1_slave) required 750+ms for each sensor. Here is the result for my 10sensors 1wire network (using the usual w1_slave required 8.5sec, with new feature…

Hi. Working on orange pi 3. With the latest version of armbian (20.11.3), my eth0 network interface is not able to connect to network. If I deploy an old image (20.02.1), it works. As soon as I apt update and apt upgrade, reboot, the new armbian version shown becomes 20.11.3 again, and eth0 is not able to connect anymore : at startup, a long job runs with the message "A start job is running for Network Manager Wait Online" and after some times, fails with "Failed to start Network Manager Wait Online". As soon as I redeploy the old image, it's working again. I did not touch anything else from the fresh image, only apt install/upgrade. Is …

Hello all, I was setting up a my favorite SBC of all time, the Orange Pi +2E, and I can't believe that I've been so oblivious to this issue for so long, and that there is no easy solution!!! OK, so I'm doing a massive hardware clearout, and I've getting to my OPI's. Part of this hardware clearout is to finish the project I started (if feasible and still useful). I have loads of approx. Intel DC 3000 series SATA drives around 80-200 GB, and I thought these would be perfect "user data" SSD's for each of the SSD's. But then I realized... and my heart sank as I realized this issue is a problem across most OPi boards after consulting the table. …

I wasn't able to boot from my SD after flashing either `Armbian_26.5.1_Orangepi5-plus_trixie_vendor_6.1.115_minimal` or `Armbian_26.5.1_Orangepi5-plus_resolute_vendor_6.1.115_gnome_desktop` to it. I would get a red power light, but none of the others. I was finally able to boot `Armbian_25.8.1_Orangepi5-plus_noble_vendor_6.1.115_gnome_desktop` after grabbing it from archive.armbian.com, but I'm wondering what the problem may have been? I'd like to get onto the latest Armbian but of course don't want to start having boot issues all over again. Edit: Looks like I may have run into this known issue: https://github.com/armbian/build/issues/…

Hello, My mic works on my laptop, but I tried to do the computer, but the mic is not working. I tried a troubleshooter, allowing audio to be recorded. I have tried to reinstall the drivers, but nothing seems to be working. Even after doing a lot of research, the solution was not found. Then after going to the settings, after looking at the setting of the microphone, it came to know that the microphone needs permission to run in the device which was disabled. At the same point, after I have given permission in the settings, the microphone was not working due to not giving it, then the https://mictests.net is checking the mic from the site and see if…

Hiya, Goal: Ok so I'm after a high speed synchronous serial interface (50mhz would be nice) with reasonably flexible clocking options so I can tweak it up and down. The goal is to implement a "fast as possible" SWD debug interface to a Cortex M0; ideally the serial interface could be run arbitrarily fast until the target M0 or the wiring can't handle it. If can do 48mhz I can basically read/write one 32-bit word per microsecond over swd, so 4MB/sec, and I want to process that a little and send it to a PC (obviously ethernet). I especially care about consistent, gap-free, no jitter on this serial interface. So SPI is the obvious choice but I'm…

Ok so the title can confuse more than it really is! My devices connect over wlan0 grabbing an IP, say 172.24.1.114 I have added a VPN to a remote network resulting in the creation of ppp0, with IP 10.10.10.12 Having these info, what I want to achieve is: * Only one IP (e.g. 172.24.1.114) has to always go towards ppp0 (that is all traffic back and forth should go to ppp0, so I can either reach machines and navigate on internet with the remote IP…

Dear armbian experts For a kiosk-like system with a touch screen only, I need a virtual keyboard that pops up on demand and hides again when not needed. I have installed successfully the onboard keyboard package, see https://launchpad.net/onboard. The software has all the desired features and works fine so far. Only auto show / hide does not work, i. e. something seems to be wrong with the communication between onboard and other applications like Firefox etc. I think, onboard needs for that an AT-SPI D-bus / AT-SPI registry installed to send and receive messages. I tried to activate "Applications -> Settings -> Accessi…

Flashing odroidc4 images, each installation gets an identical IP address of '00:50:43:84:fb:2f' as specified in https://github.com/armbian/build/blob/7d758026b57380b17b6337e23b053db01c7e0b3d/config/bootenv/meson.txt This gets especially cumbersome with encrypted rootfs. Is there any way to override this without having to rebuild the image? Ideally the hw MAC address would be used, but being able to configure it through a simple change of the boot parameters after flashing would also work.

Hi all, thanks in advance for taking the time to read this topic. I'm working with the Banana Pi P2-zero board, on which I successfully installed the armbian buster image (on SD card) from here: https://www.armbian.com/bananapi-m2-zero/ Note that the image is for M2-zero, not P2 zero... which by the way has pretty much the same hardware, and things work fine on SD card. But then I needed to install the whole system on the on board eMMC. Such eMMC was not visible at first, so I edited the /boot/dtb/sun8i-h2-plus-bananapi-m2-zero.dts file to include mmc2 (mmc@1c11000) and compiled it as dtb. After this, I was able to see the…

Is there any support for this platform. https://wiki.seeedstudio.com/Quantum-Mini-Linux-Development-Kit/ Devicetree https://github.com/coolflyreg/quark-n If not. I'm using Armbian bullseye on an Odroid HC2 with 2 GB of RAM with OpenMediaVault. Its memory usage used to be around 10% before starting any docker services, and a cool 50-60% while running things like Nextcloud, Vaultwarden etc. It used to jump to around 80% when some headless Chromium processes ran intermittently, but overall, it's been quite stable. I don't recall to make any significant changes to the system, yet suddenly the baseline memory usage jumped to around 50%, making my system extremely slow and unstable, with service and system restarts now occuring several times a day. I couldn't extract any useful clue about what's using all that RAM, with `sys…

I'm using the image Armbian_5.38_Orangepizero_Debian_stretch_next_4.14.14.7z. My NetworkManager version is 1.6.2-3. Certain NetworkManager options like wifi.scan-rand-mac-address=yes or wifi.cloned-mac-address=random for NetworkManager results in not being able to connect to a wireless Access Point anymore via nmtui. On the other hand, manually spoofing the MAC address via ip, ifconfig and macchanger and using nmtui afterwards works in all three cases.

Just wondering if anyone has Webmin running on their Arm system. I have encountered problems installing and using a dependency "apt-show-versions" I have studied and attempted to resolve the issue using information on this page https://serverfault.com/questions/845192/dependency-problems-while-installing-webmin It goes into a fair bit of detail, but unfortunately nothing is working. Can anyone put me on the right track?

hello. first i want to say thank you to every armbian supporter and the hole team. thanks for providing this nice project and your work. i did some work for adding an external sound card - the audioinjector pi stereo, which is based on a wm8731. i used the radxa rockpi4(b) board based on the rk3399. i choose this board because of pinout header is nearly the same as the one you find on raspberrys. so adding/ using raspberry Hats won´t be too hart in this case. this will also work with radxa kernel https://github.com/verplant23/kernel so there shouldn´t be any troubles porting it to armbian legacy. i´m not a coder and i don´t kno…

I've configured and connected to a wifi network just fine, but I want to change the config non-interactively. The config isn't in /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf or anywhere else I'd expect, and https://github.com/armbian/config/ only mentions hostapd. Where's the config stored? Edit: /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/[my SSID]

Hi. Finally have the time to get into this, and find the biggest problem i am having right now is conceptual. What is Softy? Why is it needed? Why is it better than installing from apt with a repository? How is its installed software managed, including updates? Also, I understand that there is no uninstall feature. In which case, how do manage system recovery? Say I install docker and omv and I've set up other bits and pieces like wifi and ssh, then I mistakenly install desktop. I want to uninstall desktop... It looks like I need to bust back down to a clean image and start again. Do wiser heads have a good strategy to handle …

Hi, I'm a long time Armbian user and overall extremely happy. It my default Linux distro everywhere! Thanks to everyone who is developing or contributing to it! Every time I pickup a new board and deploy Armbian I have to edit the `armbianEnv.txt` file and change verbosity to 7. The same question repeats in my head. Why is it not the default? Systemd and startup messages spam up like crazy and they have nothing interesting to offer. I do care what hardware did the kernel detect or was a protocol correctly negotiated etc. I personally would have it in reverse, verbose kernel, quiet systemd. But thats just me. Could we at least have parity, if syst…

The final leg of my server is being a media server for my PS3. I'm using MediaTomb as the server application. When I first got my server online and installed MediaTomb, I could see it on my PS3 as a media server option. Also, I could enter into the Website interface by accessing the IP address and the proper port number. However, since I changed to a static IP and worked to get my Samba share working, I somehow broke my MediaTomb connection. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hi, I am trying to select an OS for C++ development on ARM processors for IoT development and I am thinking about long future. I've been using Debian and Ubuntu on my desktop, so I have to say I am biased on using Debian. (1) armhf debian looks stable, it can support any ARM board as long as it has Linux kernel, but it requires large size in both RAM and Flash like a desktop environment. (2) openwrt is smaller for embedded system, but it does not have pre-build open source library packages like armhf debian does, you have to build open source packages which may or may not be a big deal, in particular, building boost could be a nightmar…

I've installed Armbian on my brand new Odroid N2. I realise it still is WIP, but almost everything works great. There is just one issue, which prevents me from setting it up the way I want. I use my eMMC card to boot the system. I've also added a larger A1 SD card for application data. However, after a reboot the SD card isn't recognized. There isn't even a message about it in dmesg log. But when, after booting, I remove the SD card and insert it, all of the sudden it's detected and mounted. Does anyone know how I kan make this happen at boot, so I don't need to physically access the device in order to use it after a reboot?

I have an orangepi pc+ which (among other duties) exports my usb (/media/wd/Music) drive with nfs. The external usb drive (A Western Digital) automatically enters sleep mode when it is not used for a while. When I try to mount that nfs-share on another machine, I hear the drive spinning up (awakening) and the mount succeeds. But when I try to access the mount I get "ls: cannot access /opt/music: Stale file handle" I had the same drive and /etc/exports on my raspberrypi-2 but there I did not have this problem (I could hear it spinning up as well when I accessed the mount so I know it was entering sleep mode as well). So I think it is a difference in configuration…

Hi, I've got an Odroid HC2 with Armbian Buster and OMV on it, and the SD card I used it with got corrupted. So I salvaged all the files from it and backups, and restored the whole file structure onto a new SD card, with an ext4 MBR primary partition. Now, my concern is, how can I make this bootable? I can boot the HC2 off a throwaway newly installed Armbian, and access the target SD card through a USB card reader. I could google that armbian-config is used to install the bootloader, but apparently it can only do that to the card which has been used to boot the device in the first place. Any suggestions? thanks
