  3. Hi all. I hope I'm posting this in the right section of the forum. I'm looking for an SBC to use as a media center (Kodi) attached to an old CRT TV to watch (among others) german DVB-T2 terrestrial broadcasts. I've set up a Raspberry Pi 3 with OSMC so far and this works well for net content but isn't up to the task of decoding the H.265 TV streams, presumably due to lack of hardware support. So, what I need is an SBC with hardware support for H.265 decoding which also sports a composite video output. Preliminary research leads me to believe that the Orange Pi series of boards should be up to the task and seem well supported by Armbian. However, I'm a bit lo…

  4. I want to load my custom service to show orangepi zero as three devices on the host PC. Linux-USB Serial Gadget (CDC ACM mode) I want to disable that service so that my custom service can use the UDC for the required purpose. 5. Hi all, Which branch or tag should I use if I'm willing to work on the latest stable linux version on Banana Pi M1 ? How do I choose between legacy / current / dev, and what are the differences between them ? Is there some guide that explain these issues ? If someone is willing to answer by giving an example, then lets assume I want to build from source kernel 5.10.32 on Banana Pi M1. Thanks in advance

  10. Etcher understands zip, gzip, bzip2, and I don't know what all else. But it has no idea what a 7z file is. So I have link in proximity for two of the three binaries I need to get, and the third buried in grey on black text at the bottom of the page where nobody will see it and instead they will feel compelled to go out to find it on their own. Are 7z files really enough smaller than bz2 that it's worth this?

  11. On attempting to disable `sound.target` in a Nanopi Neo3 I noticed that both `alsa-state.service` and `alsa-restore.service` use the same `ConditionPathExists=!/etc/alsa/state-daemon.conf` (apparently called Card State Management Schemes). This contrasts with the unit files on my host system, with `alsa-state.service` using `ConditionPathExists=/etc/alsa/state-daemon.conf` and `alsa-restore.service` using `ConditionPathExists=!/etc/alsa/state-daemon.conf`. What is the reason for using both services within the same scheme?

  59. Hi, in my case the test is on a Rock64 (4GB, v2 edition) using latest current Buster or Focal. The problem is in the first init configuration assistant. When selecting the "User language based on your location", after selecting es_AR.UTF-8 (I am from Argentina) it "auto-detects" my keyboard layout as AR which belongs to Arabic iirc (which is wrong). After this of course I can't type anything right on terminal. I had to fix it over ssh by issuing the command: sudo dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration.

I got the stable release of armbian for the ROCK64, flashed on a sd-card aaaaaaaand ... wrong password. root + 1234 doesn't work. Has the password been changed? I tried the following combinations: root:1234 ROOT:1234 root:!"§$ (german keyboard, don't know whats on en) armbian:armbian rock64:rock64 All passwords are incorrect. I try it with xenial and strech. I get the impression that most people are just using it for games but I would like to use it to run Quartus (a program to work with Intel FPGAs). The issue I see is getting the USB drivers to work. Quartus includes drivers for several programming cables (I am only interested in the USB blaster cable), and as far as I know there are no drives available that run on ARM. Is there any hope at all of getting the x86 drivers to work on ARM? Thanks in advance.

The OS ran fine from SD card, but once installed to emmc (using armbian-config) the system booted with a message that the file space available was zero.
