Hi, if anybody would like to use - please see attached script for backup of block devices. It says 4.13.x in nightly kernel builds but i cant still enable g_hid. In this link it says 4.12 would bring usb otg support for h3 boards. Am i wrong? If its still not supported and wont get implemented soon what should i do to implement it? I also read that g_hid should work in legacy kernel but it didnt work with lastest legacy kernel either. I am trying to get it working for a few weeks now my whole project is stopped because of this. Its would bring me joy if i could get it working. Thank you

I have 2 32GB cards, one does 40/20MB/s the other 80/10MB/s, +-, as measured. Both class 10. I understand there are some limits on the SD bus, thus you can not use max speed a card may eventually provide. So my question, which one would be preferred ti be be used? 40/20 or 80/10. Thanks.

Hello I really like armbian's 4.x kernel because it doesn't heat up as crazy as 3.x's. I was trying to install Seafile on the Odroid C2 using the instructions here https://forum.seafile.com/t/seafile-server-on-arm64-aarch64-working/1405 However I'm getting the following error ./setup-seafile.sh: line 492: 2045 Illegal instruction (core dumped) LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$SEAFILE_LD_LIBRARY_PATH "${ccnet_init}" -F "${default_conf_dir}" -c "${default_ccnet_conf_dir}" --name "${server_name}" --host "${ip_or_domain}" At first I thought that this was obviously a problem I should find help at at Seafile, but upon further testing I did not e…

Currently I have a Tinkerboard S and due to lack of USB WiFi support (Tinkerboard only has 2.4ghz, but 5ghz is necessary), I need another OS or SBC. Support for CSI camera is also required. I've installed Armbian on TinkerBoard and read a couple of threads on this forum. It looks like there is no CSI support for the Tinkerboard and there is no CSI camera support coming (couldn't get the camera to work on Armbian). The Rockchip on the Tinkerboard has the advantage of H264 encoding and very useful. There are other SBC boards with dual band and Rockchip (different Rockchip than the Tinkerboard), like the RockPi or the RockPro, but I can't really find out if the C…

Hi, My Armbian Debian Buster install has the package "armbian-firmware" installed at version 19.11.3.346. Since a few days/weeks, the package is no longer available on the APT repository. I couldn't find a reference in the documentation/forum about its removal, so I don't know if its absence is intentional or due to a bug. If intentional, I should probably install the regular linux-firmware packages from Debian instead? Or will the armbian-firmware package return? # cat /etc/apt/sources.list.d/armbian.list deb https://apt.armbian.com buster main buster-utils # apt clean # apt update Hit:1 http://ftp.nl.debian.org/debian buster InRelease Hi…

Hello. I feel like this is a really basic stupid question, but for the life of me I can't find an answer. Every thread that I read about getting a display XYZ to work in Armbian references using fbtft. But apparently fbtft is now deprecated and cannot be used anymore. So.. what do I do now? I'm mainly looking to get ILI9341 -based 3.2" TFT and MPI3508 3.5" TFT to work with Armbian. Mainly testing with an Orange Pi Lite2 and Orange Pi 3 currently. I've read this: downloaded, compiled and installed the .dts. Also modified/added line to boot.cmd to use lcd as display according to https://docs.armbian.com/Hardware_Allwinner/ tha…

I'm trying to enable SATA support on my Clearfog Base that has an eMMC that I boot from. Had a lot of trouble getting the kwboot version that would work and get initial UART boot working with the correct 01001 DIP switch setting. But now it is working with Buster and I have a MSATA SSD that I would like to add for additional storage. In theory all I should need to do is rename the patch for sata0 : mv 'patch/u-boot/u-boot-clearfog/clearfog-pci0=msata.patch.disabled' 'patch/u-boot/u-boot-clearfog/clearfog-pci0=msata.patch' Then build it using: ./compile.sh BOARD=clearfogbase BRANCH=current BUILD_MINIMAL=no BUILD_DESKTOP=no KERNEL_…

I downloaded the Armbian Buster image from the downloads section of armbian.com and flashed the image to an sd card, as instructed. I have installed sddm, gnome, etc in addition to running apt update & apt upgrade and creating a new user. The system looks good and I planned on using nand-sata-install to write the OS to my emmc .. according to everything I have found, executing nand-sata-install from the root prompt gives a screen that has 3 choices, one of which is "Boot from emmc; system on emmc" Instead, this is what I get: 1 Boot from SD - system on SATA, eMMC or NVMe 5 Install/Update the Bootloader on SD/eMMC I just wa…

Hello, I am running a Cubietruck with Armbian 21.08 Buster. I wonder if this can be upgraded to 22.02. The usual apt update apt upgrade apt dist-upgrade does not install any new packages. However I see e.g. the deb files for the kernel are existing in http://mirrors.dotsrc.org/armbian-apt/pool/main/l/linux-5.15.25-sunxi/ and also http://mirrors.dotsrc.org/armbian-apt/dists/buster/main/binary-armhf/Packages contains the new packages. The kernel is NOT set to freeze in armbian-config. Also that tool does not offer the new 20.02 packages. I seem to overlook something here. What prevents the installation (my apt skill are obviously limited...). …

I have owned numerous Raspberry Pi boards over the years, and I have always have ran Kodi on one of them. For years I have been wanting to upgrade my RPi 3 as it cannot play any of my H.265/HEVC videos. With all the shortages, and how old the Raspberry Pi 4 is getting, I made a rather spontaneous purchase for this Orange Pi 4 LTS board. Getting it all setup is easy enough, but of course, the video (even with H.264!) nearly maxes all 6 cores and the video is chunky as it's just doing everything without any video acceleration. Even navigating the menu seems slow and delayed. I have been scouring these forums and other sources for about 12 hours now, and I am sti…

Hey all... Looking to put something a LOT more lightweight than RaspiOS (and not-modern-desktoppy at all, please) on my Pi4Bs. Found out about armbian from the Wikipedia page and downloaded the Jammy CLI image, but I can't get either gitlab or github to talk to me for downloading either of the recommended imagers; gitlab just gives me a blank page (no HTMl at all, per Firefox "view source") and github outright refuses connections. Hello everyone, I’m a complete beginner and have very little programming knowledge. However, I decided to build a MagicMirror as a project. For this, I got a BananaPi M2 Berry and installed what I believe is an Armbian operating system on it. Then I downloaded the corresponding packages for the MagicMirror from GitHub. Everything worked so far—though it was quite challenging—and I even managed to personalize each module. But now I have two problems: I want the MagicMirror to stay in portrait mode permanently. However, after a while (about 30 minutes), the screen automatically switches back to landscape mode and opens a new window of the “Display” appli…

Greetings! My first foray into Armbian. Apparently the Link Star H68K is hardware equivalent to the Hinlink H68K. I'm trying to install one of the community supported Armbian images (Debian Trixie, Ubuntu 26.04) for the Hinlink onto a Link Star H68K, using the RKDevTool from the Seeed Studio wiki. And failing. The only image that loads into RKDevTool is the Lubuntu 20.04 from the Seeed Studio wiki. It's just a tad out of date. Any pointers on getting a more up-to-date OS installed would be most welcome. AFAIK my device is OG, not V2. I've also tried booting from TF card, but the device refuses to boot at all wit…

Hello, I am runnign armbian 5.05 jessie server on an OrangePi One. I wish to test network audio streams so I installed pulseaudio to do some tests. As long as ALSA works fine with HDMI output, I thought that pulseaudio would work the same, but I was wrong. The basic pulseaudio installation (apt-get install pulseaudio) turned to be a non effective way to obtain pulseaudio support. Actually this is strange because if I set the default pulseaudio sink to analog audio, it works fine (I get no sound but just because the Opi One has no analog connector). When I set the default sink to hdmi audio, I get indiscernible short discharges instead of music and pulseaudio…

Hello! I was very happy, when the first OrangePI came out and had HDMI and VGA output. With this device it was possible to use the board with two monitors (mirror desktop and expand desktop) I use this board as thin-client in our office - connecting to windows server via rdesktop. Another way we use the boared is working with one monitor via rdesktop and running with the other Monitor or TV-Set a webpage witch is displaying infos. It is running perfect and we can save money because there is very low energy consumation and the OPIs are cheap. I think this kind of using the OPI wourd have good future. Now this board is no more availabe. I am not a tec…

I just want to share what I examined yesterday... Background: I used OPi one to output HDMI video when a button is pressed. HDMI output had problems Sound comes and goes with a hick-up... Debugging: Checked wiring, checked with other video, checked with other OPi etc. Nada... The problem persiste…

A while back, I noticed that Armbian was compatible with this Ugreen GbE adapter. As I purchase on eBay rather than Amazon, I found the above one plus this adapter, which has the same AX88179 chipset plus a built-in 3-port USB3-Hub. So I decided to try it and see if it worked with Armbian and report back here. (I'm using the EspressoBIN for this and Ubuntu Bionic 4.19.56). These are my results: Straight out-of-the-box, I can see it using LSUSB, but it does not plug-and-play-work. After struggling and attempting to get the network manager to do something about it, I added this line to /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules: SUBSY…

The devil is in the details. Armbian was partially working so I started over to study the process more closely ! HDMI Audio on 5.4 is WIP as Linux Meson discloses.

Hi, I have this great tiny SBC without being used because I could not get its fan temperature dependent on dietpi and really did not liked the stock image, so I have been looking for something more interesting. After installing lm-sensors, I ran sensors-detect as root and no sensors were found. I know I saw a temperature readout (calculated?) somewhere and I wonder if whether is possible to have a PWM control of the fan as the stock image does. All help and suggestions are much appreciated. Is it possible to change the baud rate of the i2c driver on twi0? It seems to be running slower than twi1 and twi2 at least probing that bus takes much longer. Also are twi1 and 2 routed out somehwere on the Nanopi NEO I don't see where the pinout is documented.

Could someone remind me of the status of the H3 crypto engine, both hardware (capabilities, aes-ni ?) and software (mainline or vanilla kernels) ? I've been testing openvpn on an amlogic s905 box (still need to fix my beelink x2 problems) and as expected i'm hitting a cpu bottleneck. i've been able to achieve around 60Mbps (Blowfish-cbc, usb hdd, ext4) but openvpn being single threaded the cpu load maxes out thus limiting openvpn's bandwidth. Unfortunately as with most vpn providers you can't tweak all parameters and so, changing the tun-mtu size is not possible and has to stay at the default 1500 value. I will perform some tests on my beelink x2 or opi pc…

Hi! I'm testing some orange pi device for use it on my projects as a substitute for raspberrypi. I need a device with OS installed on emmc. I have not had good experiences with microsd on raspberrypi due to data corruption. I thought that orangepi device with emmc flash was a good option. However I'm realizing that it is not as compatible as I thought. Make the spi display and spi smart reader work I think that's crazy. For this reason I ask you the following: Whitch device is most compatible with raspberry pi at gpios level? If had emmc or something more robust then microsd it would be better. thanks in advence

Hi , My son purchased a PCdunio v3, wifi enabled with his birthday money with the grand plan of "coding". This idea is slowly going down the drain. It is using Ubuntu 3.4.79+ It does not detect any wifi or ethernet. I have confirmed that both interfaces are up. I have tried with and without the SD card. I confirmed the router is not blocking the device. I can see that the State of wlan0 is unmanaged, but cant figure out how to fix that. I have tried manually creating entries for the network but this was unsuccessful. When it does try to connect to Wired Network, it simply got stuck looking for an IP address and never amounted to anything (Nothing in the ro…

Hello everyone, I am currently experiencing a network configuration problem. This concerns a project based on an ODROID C2 board with a Linux Debian 9 stretch 5.73 / Kernel 3.16.57 the board is equipped with a USB 3.0 hub + RJ45 powered. The ultimate goal is to have the WAN on eth0 in DHCP (odroid LAN) an eth1 LAN in static (HUB LAN) A wifi key RALINK RT5572 in access point with a static ip, hosting the bridge of the eth0 if necessary. What works so far: Everything is "ok" on boot, however it was necessary to disable some services at startup, and some behavior is strange: Services disabled: Wpasupplicant (disabled and hidden) otherwise impossibl…

This time I got this with update from 5.10.3-dev to 5.10.4-dev with armbian buster I had the Network-Manager deinstalled and did see my IP which I did configure via /etc/networks but couldnt arrive the K1Plus via ssh/ping and when I used a TTL-RS232 on the K1Plus I cant ping anything in my network or the internet. I've got one of these boards. It is just Kernel development that has ceased as there are no maintainers? (Had I had the skills, I would have happily maintained it. ;-( ) Also, to get the latest Kernel later on, is it as simple as obtaining the official sources and then compiling (or cross-compiling to ARM) and then install the Kernel? On this one I'm a bit like a duck out of water and if anyone can point me along the right path, all help will be greatly appreciated.

Hello I'm just wondering that there are two release files in /etc and why they have different VERSION values. In armbian-image-release file, VERSION is 20.08.1 But it is 21.08.8 in armbian-relase file. armbian-config and welcome massages also show version as 21.08.8 So I think 21.08.8 is correct one, but then why armbian-image-release has incorrect version value? Is it a bug? Or am I missing something? Please help me. Thank you.

The internet is full of reports, that USB devices get disconnected at random after some time. Camera or disc-drives, keyboards etc. For me it was a GPS device. The solution is described here https://hamwaves.com/usb.autosuspend/en/ and here https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/usb/power-management.txt

I'm installed Armbian_23.02.2_Orangepi5_jammy_legacy_5.10.110_xfce_desktop to Orange Pi5. I have attached external RTC module with DS3231 on I2C5 (/dev/i2c-5) and try it. https://forum.armbian.com/topic/7349-rtc-ds3231-how-to-install-tinker-board-stretch-414/#comment-56094 (Instead of I2C-0, it was I2C-5.) However, the DS3231 does not recognize it. I type i2cdetect -y 5, it remains at 68 without becoming a UU. Is there any solution?

As of 25 April, one year after the release of Debian 8, alias "Jessie", and nearly three years after the release of Debian 7, alias "Wheezy", regular security support for Wheezy comes to an end. The Debian Long Term Support (LTS) Team will take over security support. https://www.debian.org/News/2016/20160425 Important: Wheezy-LTS only supports i386 and amd64. The support for armel and armhf is waiting for confirmation from all related Debian Teams. Users of other architectures are encouraged to upgrade to Debian 8 ("Jessie").

I just attempted several builds of Build-Armbian, 5.67 bionic 5.0 rc1 with S9xxx board. None of them will boot. It's almost like it's not reading the DTB right. It just sits at the MXQPro logo screen. I've edited to extlinux.conf and the uEnv.ini and even created a dtb.img but it doesn't seem to make a difference. I've used this same dtb with builds produced by balbes150 and it worked fine. I'm a noob, but I'm not just trying to get this running. I plan to contribute to the project if possible. I was a software engineer in a past life. Any hints in the right direction would be much appreciated. For instance, is there a way to see the boot console so I can se…

Hello I am running a NanoPi M4 (kernel 4.4) with /boot on SD and / on an USB-attached disk. At the time I ran `nand-sata-install` ext4 seemed like a good choice. I want to snapshot the file system as a preparation step to backing up, so it looks like I have 2 choices now: 1. ext4 on LVM 2. btrfs -> Will 1. work with u-boot/armbian at all? Which solution is recommended? My guess is that btrfs would be the easiest, so the next question is -> can I go and a) `btrfs-convert /` b) update rootfs in armbianEnv.txt, or is there any other step involved? Regards -Patrick

Because I have updated to Armbian 22.02 with the linux 5.15.25 kernel and I am using the rk3328-nanopi-r2-rev00 device tree, I thought I should share what I have discovered. 1/ I had trouble setting up a one-wire device (ds18b20 temperature sensor). I think the w1-gpio pin assigned in the supplied overlay is messing up access of the SD card. I found some helpful information from this post: https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php ... #pid100639 I copied the overlay code, modified it to use GPIO2_A2 (pin 7 on the 26pin header), compiled it and copied the new dtbo file to "/boot/overlay-user/" . Hello everyone, First timer here. I enabled the wlan0 interface on my Orange Pi zero 2w and am able to connect to the internet. However, I am not able to connect to it via SSH or even ping it, (cannot resolve host). I'm using the minimal image available here: https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-zero-2w/ I followed the docs to configure wifi as pointed out here: https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Networking/#connecting-to-wifi-network Currently I'm stuck on how to debug it further. I tried to ping other devices from within the orange pi and it works without any issues. Any advice is very much appreciated

Right now, I have 6 1080p IP cameras recording 5 fps 1024 kbs bit rate in a raspberry pi 2 with raspbian and a edimax 7811 wifi. 3 cameras record over ftp. 3 cameras record by shell scripts using ffmpeg only copy not transcode. I like better bandwidth and if possible hardware decode 1080p for streaming online Videos. Thank you for your time.

Hi guys, I am currently working on backing up my armbian installation. Following situation: boot: sd card file system: nfs root backing up the file system is not an issue, there I am using a rsync logic that transfers only changed files, which works great. The problem is with the boot files. In case of sd card failure I need an image that I can quickly restore to a new sd card, without the whole file system, as it is on nfs root and backed up differently. Now my question is: what is the best way to create an image file with only the boot logic? On Raspbian this is simple, as the boot device is a fat32 partition, but on …

Trying to set frequencies and governor for both types of CPUs on this processor. armbian-config sets the max freq and governor correctly for the two big proccesors but no config for little. Tried cpufreq-set for little, but it does not respect governor. If its set to a freq is stays there indefinitely, and if conservative governor is set the max freq goes back to 1.5. How do we set max freq to 1.2 for little, and governor to conservative and have both stick like big does with armbian-config?

Is it possible to install armbian using dd? I see the instructions say to use USBImager is recommended. However, my situation is that the computer I am using is an ARM64 running Linux, and it appears there is not a binary download of USBImager available for ARM64-linux. I could compile my own copy of USBImager, but it seems like it might be simpler to use dd. Or--is there an alternative to USBImager that I could install on my ARM64-linux (debian), preferably using the package manager?

Dear colleagues! I think many of us are trying to use SBC boards with Armbian as server, control units etc. How do you handle instant power OFF, due to power loss, for example. I am thinking about small UPS development, it will contain battery for 30 seconds of Orange Pi Pc+ operation and set Orange Pi I/O as signal for correct shutdown. But is it actually needed? I keep switching my Orange power OFF from AC adapter instead of shutting down for 1 year and still no problem there.

I wanted to do some updates to the systems, so I have switched off the board, and opened the SDcard to my debian desktop system. I have modified the autoconnect value of my AP nmconnection file to false and switched the one of my infrastructure mode nmconnection file to true, so that at next boot, my board connects to my local network and I can run my updates. my board has never shown up in my router l…

I know it sounds crazy. But at least every 1 out 3 reboots, the sbc will shutdown instead (no hdmi output) and not boot back up. Rebooting in terminal whether remotely or locally will have the same effect. And when it fails to reboot and just shuts down instead, my linksys router (ea9500) disconnects the internet (devices still connected to router). I have to power cycle the router to get it working again. This occurred on a fresh installation of the current focal releases. I would say I had to restart my router at least 15 times in the past few hours, and every time it happened was when the reboot command failed. The sbc is connected via ethernet, and the internet…

Hello folks, I plan to build a power bank or a ups for my Orange Pi Pc H3. Another option is to use a MoPi board, not sure if Pi PC H3 supports the board. https://pi.gate.ac.uk/pa…

Hello Unfortunately my OrangePi PC which I used for couple of years failed and I'm looking to buy the 64-bit SBC from Pine64. Funny thing about my OrangePi PC was that there was one and only one old Armbian image version (Armbian-20.05.4-Orangepipc-focal-5.4.45.img) which ran GUI successfully out of the many other Armbian and OrangePi images I tried which helped me run it as a desktop for using Libre office and others. Unfortunately 1GB RAM was too low for Gaming lol. Thanks to the Armbian community for that. Before buying, I presume the PineA64 LTS version has a 64bit Rambus if not - I don't understand how processing speed will be bett…

I have been trying to get a 7" waveshare touchscreen to work with the orange pi zero2. I've checked that the touchscreen isn't faulty by using with a raspberry pi. I also checked that the output from the orange pi is working by using my computer monitor. It just doesn't want to output to the touchscreen (hdmi). There seems to be some thin grey horizontal lines. I do get a flicker at startup of the orange pi, but that is about it. Any idea's? I'm new to armbian, so if you have an idea, please list me some steps or point me to some documentation to help.
