  3. Hi, I'm trying to use ZFS but the kernel I'd like to use doesn't support loadable modules. The version is 22.08.4 at the moment (5.10.147) Can I use zfs-dkms on linux-image-current-meson64? And I'm curious why loadable modules are not supported by default for linux-image-current-meson64, is it same with every model? or probably Odroid-HC4 is one of the models in which loadable modules are not build by default? System diagnosis information: https://paste.armbian.com/ezisijedob Thank you, Gunwoo Gim

  8. im using orange pi with armbian and i try to rotate display by seeting in boot/armbianEvt.txt fbcon=rotate:3 it only rotate the console message. but when i run startx (startx installed via sudo apt-get install --no-install-recommends xserver-xorg x11-xserver-utils xinit openbox ) is still default mode not rotated It makes me angry to know that i have achieved it without any difficulty with a RaspberryPi 3 simply by adding display_rotate = X in /boot/config.txt and that there is no way for Armbian.

  11. The /sbin/armbian-install script that ships in Armbian_22.08.7_Odroidn2_bullseye_current_5.19.17_minimal.img.xz has a couple of faulty lsblk arguments that cause it to exit instead of allowing the user to select the installation target partition. The script works properly after both instances of the string MOUNTPOINTS are changed to MOUNTPOINT which is easily done with sed -ie s/MOUNTPOINTS/MOUNTPOINT/ /sbin/armbian-install

  12. Hello everyone, I am trying to build a custom image of Armbian for the Radxa CM3, but I'm a little confused with how to proceed. I thought if I cloned the repo I could modify a similar board configuration file (such as rock-3a.conf) by renaming a copy as radxa-cm3.conf and changing BOOT_FDT_FILE to use my own device tree, but this is where I got lost. I'm not sure where to put the device tree in the cloned repo so that it gets used during the build process. I'm also not sure if I would need to change BOOTCONFIG as well, and if so where to find the file to modify. Any and all advice to point me in the right direction is appreciated! Thanks! …

  14. I am trying to build an old debian stretch image for checking my BananaPi M3 boards. I had it and Jessie running fine for years, but buster is causing issues with soft boot and reboots failing. So wanted to check the boards integrity with stretch. I have tried git checkout -b v20.02 remotes/origin/v20.02 which I thought was around the right time but I am just getting Buster being offered. I am using Ububtu Jammy for building.

  18. Started by abody,

I would like to make myself more familiar with the early linx boot process on ARM (u-boot, device trees and co.) and my idea was that I will start tweaking with something which actually works. I tried to figure out how to obtain the source package for u-boot (in my case for linux-u-boot-orangepi3-lts-current) but the armbian package repository seem to contain obly binaries. Any idea wherethe source packages for this binaries are located (e.g. what deb-src line do I need to add to the armbian.list to make "apt-get source" to work)?

  19. Hi, I'm interested in getting a compact ARM-based processor (something like a RPI or ASUS TinkerBoard) that can output a 2560x720 output resolution. The current available documentation seems quite sparce and Google searches are littered with people having problems with establishing their chosen video resolutions so I am sceptical! Any pointers would be gratefully received. Thank You, Dave

I have used lots of different Raspberry pi's but since they are near to impossible to get your hands on I figured I'd try out some of the alternate boards. 21. Hi, I want to make my orange pi 3 lts work in a similar way to the way Wifi manager works on esp8266 projects The idea being that if there is not a valid Wifi connection found then an AP is activated so a user can connect to a captive portal and enter the wifi ssid and password anc click connect. the pi then reboots and tries to connect. if that is successful then it works as normal if it is not then it reactivates the AP. 25. Hello, I have installed the Armbian image for Rock Pi S (https://www.armbian.com/rockpi-s/) released 19th of October 2022 on my Rock Pi S and it boots fine. However, if I update the linux kernel (using apt-get install linux-dtb-edge-rockchip64 linux-image-edge-rockchip64) this breaks the image and it will be stuck on starting kernel the next time I reboot. These packages are not installed automatically, but are listed as kept back. However, since they break the system they should maybe not be possible to install.

In the system security menu, I applied the firmware update (that's what the menu called), I assume it runs apt update && apt upgrade. After completion, it prompts me to reboot. So I did. Then the Armbian cannot boot up anymore. I am using Odroid N2+ headless, so I can only see the board blue led not flashi…

I don't know how to explain this, so I start with my hardware: Two Odroid HC1. I love swapping Kernels, default was 5.4.199 but that was "too old" because I like it bleeding edge. Did upgrade both to 5.17.5 and it works like a charm! Really good performance and some errors from dmesg disappeared too! However the problems did not wait for long: Kernel 5.19.x broke fstrim commands on my SATA drives so I rolled back, everything was good on 5.17.5 again. My logs showed TRIM was supported and running again, cheers! Now to the actual problem at hand and this might be my own doing. I froze the upgrades in armbian-config. Thinking this would prevent upgrading to the n…

I am using CANBUS on all of my printer builds and that requires a CAN hat. I am trying to get this working with this board as i can actually buy these boards. I have a few CAN hats working with Raspberry Pis so i know the original process. Does anyone have a good way to get this all working together? Even a point in the right direction would be a help. Good afternoon! Tell me about the case, please, the post is great, but maybe I'm initially going the wrong way. Initial task: data exchange between a remote server and equipment with a USB interface and CDC RS-232 or HID protocols. Putting a computer / laptop next to it is not an option. I did not find any ready-made solutions, there are only options: 1. Single board computer. Fast, cheap, angry, easy to make a case and PoE power from ready-made components on the market. 2. Arduino - to assemble from prototyping boards is long, difficult and expensive. To develop something of my own - the navel will be untied with my knowledge. 3. Hardware "e…

I assume the differences between them might not be that big. Is it useable, if not, why is this the case. What could happen when I try to use it with the H616? Thank you very much in advance Ferry

Previously, I have used MRAA library to set an interrupt, and called system("shutdown now") inside interrupt code. I did it according to the following post and according to the MRAA examples. So, with this method I was able to shutdown the system, but I cannot get out of this state via button press. I researched few posts, such as: 1, 2, and 3. It looks like either I have to modify …

I’m in the process of porting a VISCA/NDI camera controller from Raspberry Pi to run on Rock Pi (4B+ version 1.73), and I’m running into some serious GPIO hardware failures that I don’t quite know how to deal with. As a starting point, I took a pre-built collection of LEDs and disconnected them from a working Raspberry Pi setup and connected them to the Rock Pi. They all worked fine when driving them from the Raspberry Pi, so I’m reasonably certain that the problems are specific to the hardware or drivers on the Rock Pi …
