  2. In order to make armbian better, we need your help with testing. Why? there are simply too many boards to handle, there are task which can't be automatized, there are bugs which are not seen from our perspective. What kind of tests? booting, user creation, updates, upgrades checking if basic supported functions work: video, audio, network, wireless, AP mode do nasty thing to your board and report. How to test? Download nightly images from here. You want to test image which is not there? Add those two parameters with desired targets to board's config and create a pull request. and / or cha…

I'm looking for Orange Pi RV2 RISC-V support. This board is gaining popularity due to the Orange Pi manufacturer's good reputation with Arm. I have successfully built both Orange Pi and Raspberry Pi aarch64 builds on Debian from source so I'd like to know how to build Armbian for Orange Pi RV2 riscv64. What would I need to modify in the build process? Thanks!!

But I have noticed that, no matter what changes I make in the kernel config with the Armbian build script, the file "/boot/config-4.4.119-rockchip" never changes. And, worst of all, it includes the following lines: # DEVFREQ Governors # CONFIG_DEVFREQ_GOV_SIMPLE_ONDEMAND is not set # CONFIG_DEVFREQ_GOV_PERFORMANCE is not set # CONFIG_DEVFREQ_GOV_POWERSAVE is not set CONFIG_DEVFREQ_GOV_USERSPACE=y # DEVFREQ Drivers # CONFIG_ARM_ROCKCHIP_DMC_DEVFREQ is not set # CONFIG_PM_DEVFREQ_EVENT is not set I think those can be causing the problem. 13. Hi all, since we're currently collecting tasks to be done by community to get a nice board (OPi Plus 2E) in return I thought I sum up where we currently are regarding working H3 OS images with mainline kernel: Our main showstoppers for releasing H3 images with mainline kernel are still: missing/non-working THS stuff (see explanation here), native Ethernet driver not finished and a few minor bits. My last attempt to check situation has been a few days ago. Short of mounting the generated Armbian image manually and extracting tv.ko, is there a way to compile just the driver? A while ago we added some logic to set LINUXFAMILY=sunxi in /etc/armbian-release and this breaks completely the IRQ affinity settings in /etc/init.d/armhwinfo (prepare_board function). Sunxi boards upgrading to 5.35 get slower with some use cases unless a fix in 5.36 is provided (though I've no idea how the fix should look like) It seems board support packages on apt.armbian.com have been built a few days ago not containing latest fixes. Is this possible?

I would like to use a CI service to build Armbian images, ideally BitBucket pipelines since that is where most of my projects are. Has anyone had any success doing something similar? I thought it would be easy since docker based builds are supported, but it seems the supported technique is to run a command on the host that starts a separate docker container. Most CI build now are already running in a container and while I think running docker inside docker is possible, I have not been able to get that to work well in the past.

I had great success with building a mainline kernel / distribution image for my banana pi pros and my orange pi pluses. Now I have a rack of Orange Pi PC because they are only $15 each!!! Sadly, I can't find "Orange Pi PC" in the list of supported boards in the build script. The only one listed with H3 chip is the orange pi plus, and that image does not run on an orange pi pc. So my question is.... What would it take to get the opiPC support? If its not a huge job, and you are willing to give a few pointers to get me headed in the right direction, I'll take a look and see if I can add it. Thanks, Blade.

Today, I've suddenly saw that the version from that we are using from https://github.com/megous/linux(branch orange-pi-4.6) change from 4.6.2 to 4.6.4. I didn't care much until I figured out that we loose all the UART1/2/3/4 (only keeping the debug UART0) as well as all I2C (except the one on r_pio for PMIC). So, "megous" github is back to almost what linux-sunxi github is providing, without all the patches for UART/I2C that I had prepared 3 months ago. I get I will have to re-integrate them on our side until there merge into real linxx-sunxi branch.

A small patch addressing some power monitoring related issues: 1. The script was always writing to the "REG 82H: ADC Enable 1" register (on each login). 2. The value being written (0xC3, raising bit 6) was overwriting the old one, wiping out other bits that may have been enabled. On my cubietruck for instance it defaults to 0xFF, not 0x83, so that "i2cset" call was effectively disabling/zeroing the /sys/class/power_supply/ac/current_now thing that I use for calculating and graphing the power usage in munin. 3. Raising that flag (bit 6, Battery current ADC enable) seems irrelevant to the bash.bashrc.custom script, as it doesn't appear to read that curren…

  52. Hello, I have been building images for the NanoPC-T4 with armbian successfully in the past. However I now get the error "could not resolve 'ports.ubuntu.com'" when the build tries to install ping_5.1-1_arm64.deb (full log below). Do you have any idea what this comes from and how I could solve/debug this ? I have cloned the armbian build and head points to this commit https://github.com/armbian/build/commit/5b8d86ae5f6f34cf6cc13edf6b1def2773f66f0a Best regards, Rick …

  53. I recently installed Armbian Jammy on my Hardkernel Odroid-HC1. By monitoring the storage usage through SNMP, I quickly realised that something was filling up the /var/log mountpoint at an alarming rate (40 % usage after three weeks). At a closer inspection, it turned out to be the sysstat logs. Even though sysstat was set (out of the box) to only keep 7 days of history, I could see files that were several weeks old. Having looked into the way that logs are synced to disc (or to the SD card rather), then rotated and synced back every night, it seems that the armbian-ramlog script is rather broken. It will move all of the sysstat logs, then expect the logrotati…

  54. I just install the development enviroment to build custom images. Works pretty fine. Thanks to all of you. It makes it easy to test custom kernels on development boards. I went a step further, trying to use the userpatches/customize-image.sh script. Correct if i am wrong. It's possible to make a generic building process to add new drivers like the media_build does? I tried but the building fails because some variable references like the kernel version and driver modules path that the building script gets are from the host building machine and not the chroot guest. I suppose that inside this building image process there are some profile variables that could be reused. that…

  59. Certainly not a new item but havn't found an Armbian how-to. Hardware: Rockchip rk3588 based hardware with both SDcard slot and eMMC memory. Wish: make a SD card image that, when inserted in the SDcard slot, causes a bootable Armbian OS image to be written to eMMC from that SDcard, followed by boot from eMMC. The bootable image should remain in its most compact form, to limit copy time, and only upon first boot from eMMC be made to use the entire eMMC. Has this been explored already? Ideas on how-to?

A touch of bravery got me to install mainline on my Nanopi Neo using the orangepi one dtb. It worked OK. Today I updated the system and got a nice new kernel 4.9.4 but also had bit of bother in the form of the absence of network devices. It seems there is an issue with the new sun8i-h3-nanopineo.dtb as reverting back to the orangepi one restores that capability. It's all a bit mysterious to me but I do notice that the alias "ethernet0" is absent from the nanopi dts and the configuration of ethernet further down seems quite different. I'd be quite interested in trying a new version of the dtb if someone's ahead of me with this.

Igor, I noticed that your build script automatically parses a URL to determine what the current stable release is for "Next". Since 4.3 is now officially released and has a number of features worth checking out, it would be nice if the build script offered an option to pick from stable vs. mainline. For now I am just manually setting the KernelTag to "4.3", but it would be nice not to have to modify any of the scripts manually and have this be an option you can pick from. Just a suggestion... Just for experiment I compiled sunxi-fel for Windows and installed libUSB driver in single click with Zadig tool. So we could provide an application/set of scripts for Linux and Windows to do this.

  94. Hello, Just returning after a little while, I cannot get ethernet working on my opi+2e with mainline kernel, direct cable connection to PC, no serial console at hand, neither HDMI output, so I had the habit of blindly booting then sshing into the box... I tried my personal config + megous repo, xenial or jessie, current armbian repo nothing coming out of eth on the PC (tcpdump -i eth0). LEDs, green solid on, red heartbeating, orange eth led blinking slowly. I then reverted back to montjoie's repo (default for dev BRANCH), for identical results. Could this be the updated u-boot (I think I saw a new version being used) ? Or is this expected to be…

Please move this message to correct folder, if I used the wrong one. There is a grave bug in the ext4 FS, which was introduced in kernel around 6.1.55 and is fixed in kernel 6.1.66. The bug is causing data coruption and data loss, like new packages aren't installed properly. A fix was introduced today into kernel, in version 6.1.66 Armbian Bookworm 23.11.1 (Debian) comes with 6.1.63 and, according to my knowledge, is affected. When will new kernel packages from armbian be available? References: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1057843 https://fulda.social/@Ganneff/111551628003050712

Just to let people know that since I'm running kernel 5.0.y, I found that most of the WiFi firmware is now trying to load their NVRAM using a new file naming scheme, for example : On my OrangePi3, it try to load "brcmfmac43455-sdio.xunlong,orangepi-3.txt" instead of the normal "brcmfmac43455-sdio.txt", until I copied the file, no WiFi available. On my OPiZeroPlus2, it try to load "brcm/brcmfmac43430-sdio.xunlong,orangepi-zero-plus2.txt", but on this one it seems to fall back using the normal file and WiFi is working. On my OPiLite2, it try to load "brcm/brcmfmac43455-sdio.pine64,pine-h64.txt", revealing a mistake in the DT compatible ... ... I will …

  100. Hello all. Trying to get PCIe/NVMe working (even to show on microSD boot, let alone boot NVMe) on a custom compile on my Orange Pi 5 SBC version 1.3.2, because the official images aren't working either for me. No idea where to go from here and need some assistance as NVMe is required for my purpose. Here is what I did during compile.sh > Show kernel config > Board: orangepi5 > Kernel: current > Target: jammy > Image with desktop > Gnome desktop > Base configuration > Tick: Browsers > Device Drivers > PCI support > (default values) > Device Drivers > NVME Support > (default values) I used "SHARE_LO…
