I'm currently working on the meson64 family (C2, K2, Le Potato) as a family, and am trying to more or less make their GPIO behaviors similar and matching (as best I can) to the RPi they are form factor clones of. An issue I'm having right now has to do with the spidev driver, these boards don't have hardware spi where the Pi/Tinker does does, so I'm defining spi-gpio devices in the device tree. That part is fine. Where it gets interesting is setting up a spidev node under it. - Calling out a compatible = "spidev" works, enumerates, etc, but throws the typical ugly error during boot that it is wrong to do it that way. - Adding a compatible string to the…

Just to let people know that since I'm running kernel 5.0.y, I found that most of the WiFi firmware is now trying to load their NVRAM using a new file naming scheme, for example : On my OrangePi3, it try to load "brcmfmac43455-sdio.xunlong,orangepi-3.txt" instead of the normal "brcmfmac43455-sdio.txt", until I copied the file, no WiFi available. On my OPiZeroPlus2, it try to load "brcm/brcmfmac43430-sdio.xunlong,orangepi-zero-plus2.txt", but on this one it seems to fall back using the normal file and WiFi is working. On my OPiLite2, it try to load "brcm/brcmfmac43455-sdio.pine64,pine-h64.txt", revealing a mistake in the DT compatible ... ... I will …

Hello, MTK have launced a MT7623 based SOC with the interesting BPI-R2 smart router board : http://forum.banana-pi.org/t/banana-pi-bpi-r1-bpi-r2-smart-router-board-comparison-20170612/3390 I am quite enthusiastic about the hardware build features, like network acceleration, QoS and ipsec in this SOC. Will you build an image for thet board? Regards, Serge

Hi all, Is there some documentation or How To on how to debug the boot process ? I posted before I am trying to bring up a AW-SOM-A20 board that gets stuck at boot. I am kind of at a loss so I figure next step is to use the kernel debugger, which I have never done on linux (I have experience with darwin/mac OS and freebsd though) Is there a build option for armbian so that the debuggable kernel image is left around in the build process ? All help appreciated, thanks Bruno

Please take a look on CPU usage precision on the new kernel for x64 and arm64. It is 1 milliseconds. But kernel 6.13 on armv7 still provides 4 milliseconds of precision. How do I tune CPU usage precision on image build?

https://dl.armbian.com/orangepipc/archive/ Armbian_20.02.1_Orangepipc_buster_current_5.4.20_desktop.7z Just checked a fresh buster desktop image. And found a tiny issue. If you will try to install linux-headers-current-sunxi using the latest v20.02.1 image (buster, K5.4.20), you will get the v5.3.9 headers It would be nice to get the v5.4.20 headers instead Quick tip for other users - headers package can be found here - https://apt.armbian.com/pool/main/l/linux-5.4.20-sunxi/

I've start looking about the Switching DEV to 5.0.y ... I've done a preliminary trial for OrangePiPCPlus after disabling few patches, etc ... Installed with success ... Although it produce at lot of patch rejects, I think we should pursue the move to 5.0.y, even if it looks more painful than the switch from 4.19.y to 4.20.y done few weeks ago ... I'm also calling for help on this move, as I've seen lot of patch rejects in Lima patches : @JMCC are you the expert here ? For all Devs wishing to keep backup images of 4.20.y, build your images ASAP before the switch occurs ! Any concerns ? EDIT: Oh ! I alm…

Hi, I need to modify the kernel to enable the USB networking ability for my network of development boards. (currently 1master & 10servers) we need to use usb connections for networking functionalities. My question: is it possible to modify the linux kernel without compiling a whole image from scratch. We are now developing a network of mashines and are thinking ahead, doing some planning, to reduce our workload in the future and for avoiding the need to reinstall all the OSes on the whole network. Optimally we would never need to reinstall an image /only reboot a mashine and do meaningful changes on the kernel over ssh. Metaphoricallly speaking…

Hi This is my patches for using NAND + UBI + UBIFS with legacy kernel and latest u-boot Tested on Cubieboard-1 and Cubietruck. U-Boot: - read-only support for now - i.e. all write/erase ops are locked Kernel: - pooling events - need to convert to interrupts+completions ToDo: - make led support NAND layout - driver will create two MTD partitions: mtd0 - with name "SPL" - 1024K rounded up to eraseblock size. mtd1 - with name "UBI" - all other space excluding last 4 erseblocks - for bad block table. For using with u-boot need to create ubi volume named "boot" with id=0. This volume must contain /boot/* files. For other files I use in tests all …

Finally got a SPI connected DS3234 RTC for my BananaPi working! Those past days, I was working on getting DT ConfigFS Overlays into sun8i-dev. Today, I've suddenly saw that the version from that we are using from https://github.com/megous/linux(branch orange-pi-4.6) change from 4.6.2 to 4.6.4. I didn't care much until I figured out that we loose all the UART1/2/3/4 (only keeping the debug UART0) as well as all I2C (except the one on r_pio for PMIC). So, "megous" github is back to almost what linux-sunxi github is providing, without all the patches for UART/I2C that I had prepared 3 months ago. I get I will have to re-integrate them on our side until there merge into real linxx-sunxi branch.

To help diagnose the issues I'm facing with AP6212 with other boards, I've decide to build an image for the newly received NanoPiM1Plus. As bookworm is stable now I want to update my odroid HC2 from bullseye to bookworm? Any experiences welcome. I know this is not supported. But in principle it should work. I did the update from buster to bullseye and that worked perfectly (see link to threat below). I would just do the same for the new update. But maybe there is one special fact to remember that wasn't necessary for the last update. Jürgen

I have built an image for BananaPi M3 using build and docker. I can install fine on 16GB cards, but anything larger is failing on the mmcblk0 partition resize and then is going into repeated fsck's and failed boots. I have built armbian debian stretch years before and had it installing and running fine on the BananaPi M3, on 256GB uSD Cards. I tried manually extending the partition from an imaged smaller one running parted followed by resize2fs and it had the same crashing on boot. The boots a bit too fast to ascertain where its crashing but it might be the uDev step. Can anyone offer any help with this

Hi! I'm testing the image for cubieboard (A10 SOC) onto my MK 802 II and the legacy kernel is working fine (USB, OGT, WIFI, HDMI...) I just have changed the script.bin I'm reading some documentation about the device trees and I don't understand how you compile the vanilla kernel. Sorry if is a stupid questions but my board has his own .dts (sun4i-a10-mk802ii.dts), how you get a common vanilla kernel valid for all the configurations without using one specific .dts for each board? Probably I'm missing something very basic for ARM kernels, but this is my 1º aproach.

I put some fresh armbian buster image to my cubieboard (1). Although no (real) application was installed, a load of around 20-30% could be seen. First I located the K-worker problem on A20 based boards thread and blacklisted sun4i_gpadc and sun4i_gpadc_iio. But after removing my display and booting the system still there was some kworker load almost stopping the system every 5-10 seconds. Digging deeper I found a description and a possible solution of the problem. Looking a my Olimex A20 Lime2 which I am currently testing with the new olimage by Olimex because of the never solved gigabit problems of my board, the same behaviour could be seen. Hi, I have been recently working on a couple of extensions: lvm and cloud-init I forked off "v23.11.2" tag when creating my branches, since they are extensions, and wont alter the framework much. Today I noticed that OdroidUX4 is not building, but it was building last week. A patch seems to be failing. I guess it is a kernel/driver patch. Then my question is: is it possible that, on the same tag (v23.11.2), builds break? I am starting to think that the tag is only for the build process/patch set, but excludes, for example a reference to kernel code. I suppose then the situation is that a kernel update…

I've already analysed the problem and applied a fix, compiled the package locally and I'm happy. But I'd like to get the fix into armbian as well so others will not run into this fairly serious problem (for the package in question, it is essentially useless at the moment in noble). I looked through the various github repositories but was unable to see how to apply a patch to a userland package and have it published. Given that armbian s…

Some of you probably saw that I added recently the OrangePi-Prime to the build process. Unfortunately, I'm still struggling to get the WiFi. It is even worst than the WiFi issue still present on OrangePiWin. For the OrangePi-Prime, even the DT doesn't process the WiFi entries, and the mmc1 is still "disabled" in /proc/device-tree at boot time. The strange thing is that if I load a small overlay to change the mmc1 status to "okay", the kernel start processing it. But, unfortunately, I'm seeing "sunxi-mmc 1c10000.mmc: no support for card's volts" error, although I didn't found obvious errors in vqmmc-supply setting of mmc1. I will have to dig f…

i.e. git clone -b main --depth 1 https://github.com/armbian/build.git cd build # I want to find out what kernel my board is building befor here. ./compile.sh kernel BOARD=orangepi5b BRANCH=vendor EXPERT=yes PREFER_DOCKER=yes KERNEL_GIT=shallow I need to do this so I can apply patches based on the selected kernel verison (e.g. 5.10, 6.1, 6.12) as they are all different patches due to Makefile changes. I don't see a clean way to do this with the builder unless I build the kernel first, search the kernel sources and then determine the kernel that way.

Hello, I am working on a board that is essentially the AW-A20-SOM with some peripherals on a backplane in which the AW-A20-SOM plugs into. Hello, I'm trying to upgrade Armbian on my little OrangePi Lite, and it's been 3 days at it already. It is stuck at "Compiling headers", and it is not hung, I can use it. It does happen from time to time to all my SoCs, sometimes I prefer to re-dd and reconfigure. So I was thinking, if compilation cannot be avoided, can it be done on another computer? Cross-compile?

Good morning I have a BPI M1 and M1+ currently running an image from https://banana-pi.org/. Everything works, except it's Ubuntu 16.04. Since yesterday, I've been testing the Armbian images, which are great and up-to-date, but none of them recognize the SATA connection on my SSD. ` fdisk -l ` shows no SATA SSD. Since I absolutely need this connection, I'm stuck. What am I doing wrong, or where do I need to activate the SATA connection? The SATA connection is what makes the BPI M1+ unique. With Ubuntu 16.04, the SATA connection is recognized with both SSD and HDD on the BPI M3. Can someone please help me? I'm completely lost. Regar…

Hi Igor, Here is YAP (Yet Another Patch) for the TBS5520 USB2 DVB-T/T2/C/S/S2 device (Rafael Micro r848 tuner). Sorry again, i tried 'git diff' but it gets only the first file, if you feel this can be added to the build process, please do it. There is a new version released that someone could give a look, but for now you can test this. git clone https://github.com/avafinger/tbs5520.git @lex PS: This should be applied right after rtl2832 patch.

I am working on support for the ClockworkPi Gameshell main board. I have patches for the kernel, but it seems that the build system applies kernel patches on a "per family" basis. Indeed, looking at the 'kernel-patch.sh' script it seems the BOARD and TARGET variables that would let board specific patches work are commented out. I've read through the example PR's in the docs, but don't see an example of how applying board specific patches should work. I fear that if I put the patches into the normal flow, it will get applied to other boards within the sunxi family and things may break for other boards. Should kernel patches be crafted in a way that they SHOULD …

Hi there! Issue: Installing required package for Python face_recognition takes almost 15-20 hours to install using my Orange Pi One. I've added new patches for OrangePi-ZeroPlus and commited them. Like for OPiPrime done yesterday, the OrangePi-ZeroPlus WiFi still not working. I don't know why yet, although is more encouraging than OPiPrime, since at least the driver comes up in "lsmod" in the OrangePi-ZeroPlus, while for the Prime it didn't. Also another issue : OrangePi-ZeroPlus has an eMMC, I was able to do "nand-install-sata", but I'm unable to boot from it, although the MMC2 DT is part of U-Boot, for some reasons, it doesn't scan it.

Hello everyone. From some time ago I´m working in an application that comunicates with some external devices, using GPIOs. With this aim, I´ve programmed my own driver with its methods, whose are automatic loaded at startup. My hardware is a BananaPi m2u, and kernel version is 5.4.35-sunxi. Now, I´ve to read an external HW that has 2 data lines, whose idle state is "high" and once per minute sends a packet of 26 bits of data. One of these lines is a Data0 signal, and the other is Data1 signal. Every pulse is around 100us, and there is an idle interval of about 2ms between one bit and the next. There is no way for data line 0 and data …

Hi there, trying to iterate on making small changes to a kernel driver module, and using armbian to help build the kernel (cross-compiling off the device). I'm aware of kernel-patch mode, but for making small changes, compiling, and iterating like this over and over, making and then putting patches into place on each cycle is quite cumbersome. Is there some way to tell armbian build _not_ to update the kernel, i.e. let me build with dirty tree, as I'm in a dev cycle? I just want to edit something in my local kernel tree, then build the kernel, and repeat

I had great success with building a mainline kernel / distribution image for my banana pi pros and my orange pi pluses. Now I have a rack of Orange Pi PC because they are only $15 each!!! Sadly, I can't find "Orange Pi PC" in the list of supported boards in the build script. The only one listed with H3 chip is the orange pi plus, and that image does not run on an orange pi pc. So my question is.... What would it take to get the opiPC support? If its not a huge job, and you are willing to give a few pointers to get me headed in the right direction, I'll take a look and see if I can add it. Thanks, Blade.

A small patch addressing some power monitoring related issues: 1. The script was always writing to the "REG 82H: ADC Enable 1" register (on each login). 2. The value being written (0xC3, raising bit 6) was overwriting the old one, wiping out other bits that may have been enabled. On my cubietruck for instance it defaults to 0xFF, not 0x83, so that "i2cset" call was effectively disabling/zeroing the /sys/class/power_supply/ac/current_now thing that I use for calculating and graphing the power usage in munin. 3. Raising that flag (bit 6, Battery current ADC enable) seems irrelevant to the bash.bashrc.custom script, as it doesn't appear to read that curren…

I'm familiar with the armbian-config tool and while I think its cool, it may not be the best thing for the beginner. The hardest part of beginning anything is not knowing what you don't know. I've begun writing a simple tool using curses and python which hopefully disambiguates some of the features of each board. I'm currently focusing on H3 boards, since thats what I have and I'm most familiar with them. Currently I have the ascii art and setup for the Orangepi PC, One, Zero, and Nanopi Neo. The idea is to use the arrow keys to navigate, spacebar to select, 'b' for back, and (most importantly) 'h' for help. The help menu should have enough information to ge…

Hi all, I have a bit of an odd application, but given the recent effort being put into UEFI boot, I thought I'd ask for some help. I have a Gigabyte R152-P30, which is an Ampere 80 core, single socket server. Flash drive boot works just fine, but nand-sata-install onto the server's NVMe SSD has been troublesome. I've tried several permutations of having partitions and not having partitions on the NVMe drive, but none seem to actually create a bootable result. I see on the generic armbian image page that it suggests creating an EFI partition which I do (nvme0n1p1). It then proceeds to leave that partition empty. I also have another btrfs…
