Hi, I'm using banana pi m1+ with armbian legacy kernel. I'm building an application with c sharp and using mono to run in in the banana pi. My application needs to change gpio output levels multiple times while running, so I installed bcm2835 library in the banana pi to control the output level from the application. Using the library, I was able to control those as I want, but I'd noticed that there are default gpio output levels, which are different from each gpio pins. I'm using CON3-P36 and CON3-P38. Right after the boot up, CON3-P38 goes high, while CON3-P36 goes low. I want to adjust the CON3-P38 to go low in the boot up, so that both two have low output as d…

Hello, I would like to use armbian on a custom board with an arm processor. I' am a beginner and I don't know many things about o.s and board. My questions regards what issues will I have to face? Why I can't just install it like i do with desktop? Why I need to customize it? What things I need to customize? Is O.S customization an "easy" job or it will take months? What are the advantages of starting with armbian instead of starting from ubuntu (xenial)? What are the critical component of a board (what need customization)? Thanks in advance.

Armbian provides its own hostapd. Why? This is relevant because of the recent WPA2 bug. Upstream hostapd has been patched: https://packages.debian.org/jessie/hostapd I don't understand the precise relation between Debian and Armbian. Will this patch percolate down? Thanks

Hi, If I build my kernel 'properly' using the armbian compile.sh script with docker, everything works fine. If I run the docker image interactively, go into /armbian-cache/_data/sources/linux-pine64/my-hacks-1.2 and do export PATH=/root/armbian/cache/toolchains/gcc-linaro-5.4.1-2017.05-x86_64_aarch64-linux-gnu/bin/:$PATH make ARCH=arm64 CROSS_COMPILE="aarch64-linux-gnu-" -j8 $* I get a kernel that seem to work in every way, except it won't load any modules. 7. As armbian incorporates some performance tweaks also with regards to IRQ balancing on Allwinner devices, I just wanted to note, that the irqbalance daemon now finally works on armhf in Debian Stretch. I had tried irqbalanced on arm several times over the last two years, and neither the versions shipped in Wheezy or Jessie actually worked (i.e. balanced IRQs over multiple cores). I also tried to compile a more recent version last year but couldn't get it to work. So, now after upgrading one of my BananaPis to Debian Stretch, I gave irqbalanced another shot and am happy to see that interrupts are now nicely balanced, including e.g. ethernet and USB interrupts.

I came across Icenowy's patchset for current stable Linux version (currently 4.13) here. Since it contains almost every out of tree functionality for 32 bit Allwinner SoCs, should we just use it here? Hi, I hit a problem on pinebook where docker would hang with defunct processes consuming high cpu. A bit of googling turned up a known problem with aufs as the cause, so I grabbed the patches, combined them and created a pull request https://github.com/armbian/build/pull/772 I gave the resulting kernel a fairly good work-out this evening and it seems to be working fine now.

Issue identified by Hardkernel folks with ODROID XU4 and 4.9 kernel: 'When a bunch of sequential data(inode) is being sent to the UAS driver, the UAS driver is increasing the DMA block memory allocation dynamically for more efficient ring-buffer management. But the Kernel coherent-pool memory size was limited at 256KB by default and it was not sufficient for the UAS drivers.' What would users have a single point of entry into the build system (the main armbian GIT/build), I propose to add into the main master branch additional variable that will be used in the script "compile.sh" to specify what branch to use when building. This will allow to quickly combine the main branch to build images Armbian with my fork for assembling the images for TV boxes and boards based on the Amlogic platform. Under the add , my changes do not conflict with the existing system in the main branch and at the same time, users will be able to collect their own versions based on the amlogic branch of a single GIT…

The bug/vulnerability sits inside the firmware blobs but I didn't pay that much attention since I thought it would be related to recent smartphones and at least the one I use still receives full security fix support now in the 5th year. But when I heard that latest Raspbian release contains a fix for BroadPwn (RPi 3 and Zero W use BCM43438 to provide wireless capabilities) I asked myself immediately a question: http://www.cnx-software.com/2017/08/17/raspbian-for-raspberry-pi-boards-gets-upgraded-to-debian-stretch/#comment-545270 …

  50. Hello, First please excuse me for being not learned enough to do it without asking stupid questions. Here is my goal: Build Armbian (debian jessie) image with some packages included into it, include some web content and scripts into image, run my own script at firstboot to configure apache/mysql etc. So everything to start working out of the box after first boot. I read a little and saw userpatches/customize-image.sh is responsible for custom configuration, but got no idea how to proceed further. For example if I want to install mariadb what should I do? apt-get install mariadb (it says this file was executed in chroot environment) …

  51. Hi all, please be aware that Pine folks in the meantime understood that recommendations to use WinDisk32Imager, dd and other non verifying burning tools are wrong, tried to recommend Etcher instead (as usual sabotaged by at least their most famous forum moderator) and now use finally a 'branded' Etcher 2.0 beta: https://forum.pine64.org/showthread.php?tid=4481&pid=27520#pid27520 I don't think it's correct to do it this way (and at least the macOS application sucks since not digitally signed and using a wrong so called 'bundle identifier') but anyway. Let's take this for a foresight. Etcher 2.0 uses catalog files in such a way: http:…

Greetings. Trying Armbian on this board instead of using the usual Buildroot mechanisms. Thanks for the project. Armbian repo cloned etc as per https://docs.armbian.com/Developer-Guide_Build-Preparation/. Ran ./compile.sh which updated various things. Selected the 4.x development version of the kernel, and Debian Jessie, then server option, then things fired up but failed attempting to apply the u-boot config file. nanopi_m1_defconfig is definitely missing. That defconfig is definitely not present in the u-boot repo I use with buildroot. What have I missed here? TIA Jerry [ o.k. ] Syncing clock [ host ] [ o.k. ] …

Some of you probably saw that I added recently the OrangePi-Prime to the build process. Unfortunately, I'm still struggling to get the WiFi. It is even worst than the WiFi issue still present on OrangePiWin. For the OrangePi-Prime, even the DT doesn't process the WiFi entries, and the mmc1 is still "disabled" in /proc/device-tree at boot time. The strange thing is that if I load a small overlay to change the mmc1 status to "okay", the kernel start processing it. But, unfortunately, I'm seeing "sunxi-mmc 1c10000.mmc: no support for card's volts" error, although I didn't found obvious errors in vqmmc-supply setting of mmc1. I will have to dig f…

Also another issue : OrangePi-ZeroPlus has an eMMC, I was able to do "nand-install-sata", but I'm unable to boot from it, although the MMC2 DT is part of U-Boot, for some reasons, it doesn't scan it.

Hi, while i was trying to work with the NTC C.H.I.P. i've started to take in consideration the ubifs instead of mounting all the system partition as read only. Someone have experience with ubifs? do it is supported by armbian? Someone can help me with some guide?

  93. I tried to compile wireguard from source in armbian xenial with kernel 4.9.7. on a Banana Pro. After compiling and installing the resulting kernelmodule, modprobe fails: sudo modprobe wireguard modprobe: ERROR: could not insert 'wireguard': Exec format error dmesg shows: [ 5563.012529] wireguard: loading out-of-tree module taints kernel. I customized my Armbian install with 2 operating systems on two partitions. In armbianEnv.txt I use rootdev to specify the default partition. I would like to set it so that if booting from the default rootdev fails (triggering panic or root-wait, etc.), it will instead try to boot with rootdev/root set to the other partition. Is that possible?

Currently I am busy getting the new version of Kerberosio video surveillance software (website) to work on Armbian (Debian Jessie). The current version is already working (refer also to this post), and I have also compiled successfully the most recent development version which includes video recording which is not included in the current release. There will be a special Armbian page (I am currently writing it) on the Kerberos.io site in the near future. I am working towards a general Armbian recipe. Because the software originally focuses on the Raspberry Pi Platform, there are some slight differences (library dependencies because of the Raspberry Pi camera which is s…

A touch of bravery got me to install mainline on my Nanopi Neo using the orangepi one dtb. It worked OK. Today I updated the system and got a nice new kernel 4.9.4 but also had bit of bother in the form of the absence of network devices. It seems there is an issue with the new sun8i-h3-nanopineo.dtb as reverting back to the orangepi one restores that capability. It's all a bit mysterious to me but I do notice that the alias "ethernet0" is absent from the nanopi dts and the configuration of ethernet further down seems quite different. I'd be quite interested in trying a new version of the dtb if someone's ahead of me with this.
