  1. I would like to check the authenticity of the Bionic image I downloaded for my Cubieboard 1. However the downloaded .xz file only contains an .img file. The getting started page says all images should be signed. Are the .asc and .sha files typically missing in images for boards without official support?

I'm setting up a new Armbian system from a cold start. I ran armbian-config and used the personal > welcome option to set the MOTD_DISABLE options in /etc/defaults/armbian-motd. After working with sysfs and libgpiod as cross platform solutions I was wondering if there was a faster way using /dev/mem or mmio? I know this gets more bare metal and SBC specific, but for some things you may want absolute speed. https://opensource.com/life/16/4/bulldog-gpio-library for instance claims 1 MHz GPIO writes in Java. However it only supports 3 SBCs as you can see from https://github.com/SilverThings/bulldog. Is there a more generic way to do this and not lose performance? Using my generated JNA wrappers for libgpiod I get about 2K writes per second. In Python I think it's about 70K using libgpiod Python bindings. I realize you may not always need 1 MHz GPIO …

I'm experience a really weird problem on a very experimental setup: the system is an Armbian build for an unsupported board (Rockchip RK322x) and Ubuntu Focal 20.04 with mainline kernel 5.6.4. The system has issues to boot when enters into systemd: it is slow but all of sudden it goes farther. Many different systemd services are complaining, expecially the journal and the chrony NTP client. Finally I found that the root of the problems is the system time which is abruptly moving back and forth even by months. Subsequent calls to date may report 20 June, then 4 March, then 18 August and so on... The kernel log is fine and, most of all, the very…

@w0ndersp00n - I moved this here, not to hijack the Mayan thread Building it, sounds a bit similar to here: https://github.com/armbian/autotests After cloning, Igor runs an initial part of the script. Once it configured itself (and you have adjusted the configuration file) you run the script again. A similar approach could be done for DMS Paperless I guess. I agree, Mayan has business like options. Do you want it for business or private use? Not sure what exactly you mean by web-upload, paperless offers: Currently, there are three options: the consumption directory, IMAP (email), and HTTP POST.

  12. Hello. I've been playing with several low-cost SBCs for a couple of weeks now and I'm totally hooked on these incredible little things. Most of my boards are Orange Pi's simply because of the low cost (but I do have ODROID XU4 and a couple RPis too). Somehow one of my favorites seem to be the little OPi Zero (H2+), I'm using it as a "shell account" for if and when I need access to linux command line (most of my "big machines" are Win-based). However the Zero's POE implementation is... kinda non-existant really. You can read more about it elsewhere, let's just say it isn't usable without additional hardware. For my purposes, the OPiZero H2+ is powe…

Hi there, with the global lockdown, I had to move my "lab" at home... and I have trouble with the infamous WAF. So I moved almost everything in the attic, and would have loved to pull an Ethernet cable from my ISP box to the "lab" Wi-Fi router, but it's not significant other's compatible. As strange as it may seem, the Wi-Fi signal coming from the ISP box is really strong in the attic, so I thought of redirecting the Wi-Fi to the 24 ports switch thanks to a SBC. I don't want the SBC to act as a router, I want to use the router which is in my ISP box, so that I can still interact easily with the machines in the attic wherever I may be in the house. I…

I also purchased a few small LCDs so I could make small independent thing that wouldn't require a huge display - perhaps even portable ones. While I do enjoy using the terminal for practically anything (give me lynx, rtv, byobu and the likes and I'm happy), there are certain advantages in a graphical user interface. But let's face it, the default UIs with modern window managers are... not exactly designed for small, low-res screens. I started down the road of using an ESP8266, but GPIO.INT was flaky and GPIO pins limited, so I ordered a MCP23017 and figured Why not just do everything with one NanoPi Duo? I have a few of them and they are made for breadboard prototyping. Plus with the built in Ethernet I can have wired primary and wireless backup networking. I even rolled my own Ethernet adapter since the breakout adapters cost $5+. If you have already done this and have any wisdom to share I'd like to hear it. No turning back now!

  37. I'm looking at the NanoPi R1S, R1, or Orange Pi R1 as a simple bridge device for Zerotier. They all seem to have some limitations that likely mean ~100Mbps either from the 100M ports or the R1S' USB2 connected port so that's fine. I'm most drawn to the R1S for price and included case. Questions are: 1) Are these the only decent <=$30 devices for this task? 2) Is one of these known to be more stable/reliable? 3) Is there a likely software support issue with any of them? The deployment model is pretty simple. Plug WAN in to and DHCP port, have the firewall locked down tight, and bridge a ZT network into the LAN port.

While helios64 is obviously the way to go for a NAS when it lands, it's totally overkill for a setup like this and I just realized that ODROID HC2 won't fly due to being 32-bit only. Most other 64-bit boards require expansion boards for SATA, which drags up the total cost. 51. I've posted in the Armbian forums in the past about Kerberos.io video surveillance software. For some reasons it was (at the time) not always that easy or impossible to compile or get it up and running. But: Times have changed (for the good this time!) and I've tried it again on a H3 1GB memory OrangePi plus with kernel 5.4 using a *FRESH and CLEAN* Ubuntu Bionic Server image. I was able to get the Kerberos software 2.8.0 up and running straight away, just by *EXACT* following the instructions on the website of Kerberos.io (Generic installation Instructions page). It takes some time to compile ffmpeg and the machinery module, but it is certainly worth the eff…

hey, I'm having some trouble with my ssh connection to an armbian based server. It feels like a heavy lag within the filesystem, sometimes it takes up to 20 seconds to open a file with vim or use cd with tab-completion. But it is not always there, it feels more like some heavy write operation occurs spontaneously. I start digging but I have no clue why this happens. 58. Hi there, I'm looking for a USB power supply that would be mounted into a rack, so that I can power up quite a few boards at the same time. These boards would also be in the same rack. I found a big rackable USB hub, but that's not what I am looking for, and 2.4A max per slot may be too weak for some of the boards. I could hosts several smaller USB hubs too, but that does not sound really enticing. My other option is to make it by myself with salvaged server power supplies, a patch panel, bits and bobs, but it will take longer... Would you have any recommendation? Thanks.

Hello, is there something like a VirtualBox that can emulate a BP(M1) hardware, that can run Armbian inside? I'm looking for a way to set up a new Armbian system for a BPM1, without having to shut down the running one longer than absolutely necessary. I have done this before with Linux servers: I installed and configured a hole server inside a VirtualBox alongside my normal computer work, then I copied the image to the real disk and swapped the disks, with a downtime of only about 5 minutes. So I was wondering if this was possible with the BananaPi as well.
