I just downloaded the most recent mainline image for the NanoPi Neo (Ubuntu_xenial_dev_nightly.7z). It boots and runs fine. Hello there, I just flashed latest armbian (downloaded yesterday) on my A20 Olinuxino Micro. Version was with legacy kernel as my use case involves multimedia. SD card is Samsung Evo 128GB. Once I attach HDMI display, I can see armbian logo and something happening (booting kernel etc) just for a few seconds, then screen flashes with colors and I don't get anymore signal. I tried with two monitors with the same reult. Later today I will try using cable-f attached to pins to see wether something is happening under the hood (I expect yes). In the meantime can someone confirm this issue? What should I try in order to fix this? Thanks in advance fo…

I'm running the latest armbian on my Banana Pi M1 as a headless file/media server. My problem is that my Banana Pi would randomly stop working any time of the day. A day would not pass by without me having to reboot my server manually by pressing the reset button. There would still be network activity as the activity lights on the LAN keeps on flashing and it would still respond to my ping requests. I'd know it stopped working if I can't access the server's services anymore through its web ui (webmin, transmission, etc.) and to confirm this I'd try to SSH into it and it wouldn't connect. I tried creating a script where it would restart the LAN if it pinged the…

Orange pi zero running Pihole. The web interface stopped updating and I found the /var/log file was 100%. Only way I could get it working again was to delete some of the files . How do I stop this filling up again please? From what i read it may be a armbian issue more than a pihole?

Hi! I successfully set up a headless web server using an Orange Pi PC, and Armbian Stretch (mainline kernel 4.14.y). I installed MySQL, PHP 7, and a custom web application built with Symfony. It is running better than I expected (faster than my local XAMPP). However, I was wondering if it could handle 35-45 visitors/users connected at the same time or not? Thanks!

I've been using an OrangePi Zero hw rev. 1.5 for a few months with no issues, using the Stretch mainline image (4.x kernel). Suddenly the filesystem became read-only. I thought it was a SD card issue so I burned a fresh armbian to a new card. But the device does not show up in the DHCP pool with an allocated IP. Being withought a HDMI connector, an OPi Zero must be accessed via SSH. I've tried all versions, mainline and legacy. Only with Jessie legacy image, it gets an IP from the DHCP pool just on the very first boot. After that, it does not show up. I've tried the images provided by OrangePI and their Ubuntu and Raspbian images work. They have Ub…

So I have been struggling with my new Orange Pi Zero the last couple of days, I tried everything but was unable to get it working. I followed all debugging steps I could find through google and through this form so i am at the end of the rode. I have tried 2 different SD cards, on which I ran h2testw 1.4 with the following result: Spoiler Card 1: Test finished without errors. You can now delete the test files *.h2w or verify them again. Writing speed: 20.3 MByte/s Reading speed: 63.9 MByte/s H2testw v1.4 Card 2: Test finished without errors. You can now delete the test fi…

I'm wondering if anyone has had any luck using spi-gpio to bitbang SPI on the H5... @martinayotte, I found a forum thread from a few years ago where you seemed to be looking at this area - perhaps you have an idea? Doing a typical spi-gpio DT overlay for this properly loads the spi-gpio and spi-bitbang drivers, creates /dev/spidev0.0, and allocates the gpios (verified via gpiod)...but the first problem I see is that the CS line is simply not working (cs-gpios below)...? /dts-v1/; /plugin/; / { fragment@0 { target-path = "/"; __overlay__ { spi { compatible = "s…

Is anyone still working with cubietruck? I installed the latest mainline image over Christmas expecting it to have the cedrus driver but apparently it does not. I thought that everything except HDMI audio should be working in mainline now. So I installed the latest legacy image. It plays videos well but bluetooth doesnt work. I switched it on in armbian-config and 'rfkill list' shows it as not disabled but the bluetooth manager shows no adapter and search is grayed out. This is a regression as it used to work to some extent. Also, very importantly for me, neither image switch over to battery power when the AC goes out. This also used to work on leg…

Hi forum, I ran an apt-get upgrade a few days back and here linux-image-current-sunxi:armhf was updated from 21.05.6 to 21.08.2 After reboot my SATA was gone. There was nothing in the logs which would have indicated that something is wrong. After I reverted back to 21.05.6 apt-get install linux-image-current-sunxi=21.05.6 apt-get install armbian-firmware=21.05.8 apt-get install linux-dtb-current-sunxi=21.05.6 everything worked again. Has anyone experienced something similar ? Regards Volker

Hi everyone! Follow instructuions https://linux-sunxi.org/Sunxi-Cedrus to setup hw decoding everyone need kernel with flags: CONFIG_MEDIA_SUPPORT CONFIG_MEDIA_CONTROLLER CONFIG_MEDIA_CONTROLLER_REQUEST_API CONFIG_V4L_MEM2MEM_DRIVERS CONFIG_VIDEO_SUNXI_CEDRUS Images from armbian repo is without one of them - CONFIG_V4L_MEM2MEM_DRIVERS So my proposal is to make kernel for desktop prebuilds with this flag, if its possible ofcourse. Im understand that is opensourse project, so my help can be like that - i have really much space on Y.Drive and i can share folder to minimize download usage of armbian repo.

Hi I'm using an Orange Pi PC Plus with a LoRa HAT (Semtech SX1278) connected via GPIO. The tool which uses this HAT connects directly to the SX1278 chip on the HAT, no protocoll like SPI is needed. I'm using it for several years on RaspberryPi's without problems. But with the latest ARMBIAN Image for the Orange Pi PC Plus Armbian_23.11.1_Orangepipcplus_bookworm_current_6.1.63.img.xz I have issues in this constellation. The tool can not contact the SX1278 via GPIO, said the tool developer. It seems like I have to activate the GPIO pins before. I've tried to find information about that, but without success. So I hope to find here more in…

Dear all, After having problems with the 5.04 armbian and kernel 4.4.3 I went ober to build my own image. Prepared an ubuntu 14.04 and built jessie image, xenial image, with the 3.x and 4.x kernel. After its not working I tried an ubuntu 16.04 system and built again all images. No single image will boot... No errors while the build process (default settings). Please find the boot messages in the image file here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/2kpddhdkh5czw91/image1.JPG?dl=0 Any idea, what the problem could be? Thanks, bb

Hi, I have installed armbian 5.23 on an olimex A10 lime. After boot I find that the i2c devices on the UEXT interface do not show in /dev. They should be /dev/i2c-2 and /dev/i2c-3 and should be detectable using i2cdetect -y 2 (or 3). I notice that the package linux-jessie-root-lime-a10_5.23_armhf.deb ships the .bin (fex) files that configure the ports on boot. The file /boot/bin/lime-a10.bin and /boot/bin/lime-a10-lcd.bin have definitions for these ports but they are disabled. So for now I make a new .bin file with these ports enabled. Specifically I had to change the file like this (I made a new copy so that apt-get upgrade would not clobber my changes)…

Hi, I am new with OrangePi plus 2E which I bought after I have great fun with several Raspberrys. In first moment I was very disappointed with software and documentation, than I found Armbian. Well, on all of my boards and computers I run Ubuntu, so I choose Armbian Ubuntu desktop edition. With legacy kernel everything runs good, but I prefer mainline kernel, and there I run into the problem. I have no video output on HDMI. I tried nightly build of Armbian and updated legacy desktop edition. Same result, no video over HDMI. Googling about this gives me lot of confusing results so I decide to ask here. Is video over HDMI on OrangePi …

I hear that Orange Pi 2E has 1GB network speed and an USB3 port. In my project I paln to use an SBC as a network bridge and sniff traffic for problems. A simple network tap would otherwise be ok but they come only with 10/100Mbd speed limit. What I'd do have two ethernet ports on the Orange Pi, one regular and one via USB3. No to my question: are Orange Pi capable for this or is the advertised network/USB3 speed buggy/lacking? I have one Orange Pi PC for a file server and it has been running for weeks just fine. Raspberry Pi's are fine to (albeit still no 1GB ethernet). Raspberry Zero's have issues (mine seem to lock up after a couple of days).

I am new to Armbian and I have been using Jessie on BPI M2 for a couple weeks now but I can't seem to get it to automatically boot into desktop mode when no monitor is connected. It always seems to go right into command line. I have a number of pieces of software that have a GUI and need to run under desktop mode right off the bat that I would like to have at startup. I have been doing a lot of searching and have been wondering if it is a frambuffer issue. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hello. I just wanted to let you know about a possible bug I have found in the kernel installation script. I was using my OPi+2e with the default kernel, and today I installed next to test it, using armbian-config. Everything went fine, and seemed very stable overall (I didn'd use it for more than two or three hours, though). But then I wanted to revert to default, so I used armbian-config again. When I rebooted, the board started the u-boot sequence, but it got stuck on "Starting kernel". No other messages after that. I tried several times, with the same results. Since I have no logs, the only info I can give you is that I have an external USB HDD …

Hi, I use armbian distribution on opi+2e , in order to operate the Jeedom home automation system. I occasionally encounter crashes of my opi, which becomes inaccessible in SSH. We are several users of this system to encounter the same problems. In logs, date is 1970, so we suspect a time synchronization problem. We use timedatectl for ntp synchronization, but it appears that rtc clock (fake clock) is not stable. Why? Any solution to keep rtc clock synchronous with ntp? Somes members of Jeedom community try with hardware RTC clock on I2C, and it seems working. But any existing other solutions? Thanks.

Hello Community! Does anybody tried to run the .Net Core or ASP NET Core runtime package on OrangePi PC2? I installed the pyA20 library for controlling GPIO, but I can't get the internal pullup resistor to work anymore. I managed to get it working before, but after playing around with other things, it stopped working. I have a very simple circuit going on, with just a light switch and I'm trying to read the light switch using the internal pull-up resistor. I managed to get it working for a few days, but that's it. I gave up and decided to solder on my own 10K pull-up resistor from the input pin to 3.3V. To my surprise, the results were the same, the input pin floated. Everything works fine with an Arduino. This is all very strange and I hope someone can help me. I'm runn…

Hello, When I flash the newest version of Armbian debian, and plug it into my Orange Pi Lite, nothing is displayed on my monitor, even if the led is green. My monitor is 4K LG display. With Debian, the HDMI output is not reconized. I tried with Armbian Ubuntu, and the instalation guide is displayed, but the edge and the bottom of the screen are cut. After one reboot, the screen is entirely black and I can't do nothing. Any help is welcome

I have simple Banana Pi. I have Armbian on it installed on Feb this year. I can see in Changelog that there were no kernel updates for this (A20) board. Will there be any kernel updates? And when?
-
Hi, My applications were running from eMMC when I used Kernel 3.4.113 and Orange Pi PC Plus purchased 6 months back. But on my last week purchase, armbian-config of 3.4.113 does not detect eMMC of Orange Pi PC Plus. I am told by Xunlong to use the latest kernel. This will result in huge development efforts. Are there any patches that can be applied to 3.4.113 to use my same application on latest PCB? Thanks

Hi, I have an Orange Pi Plus 2e and I've installed Armbian_5.59_Orangepiplus2e_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.4.113_desktop. I need to play four hd videos at the same time. I could do it with Raspberry pi3 model B with 720M GPU memory. I played videos with MPV with X11 but couldn't play with VPDAU. It is just played only one video. What can I do? Can I set GPU memory? Thank you.

Hi, I built Armbian (bionic) from source for Orange Pi PC 2 and everything went through fine. I burn to SD card and load it on the board and it boots well. Then I use "root" to login and forced to change password from default 1234 to somepass. Everything seemed fine until I tried to login with the new password (old password failed to work anymore). The errors are in following screen shot. Kinda new to this stuff, not sure how to fix it. Tried to connect to serial port but somehow a couple of TTL cable all failed to work. Still struggling. Please help!

Hello Igor, Hello community, What I have: 1 Raspberry PI B (its just a toy) 1 Radxa Rock (bad SW support, will replace Odroid C1 in case AP is running stable, maybe never) 2 Banana PIs (file server) 1 Odroid C1 (AD DC and AP, but actually I have no trust in the hardware) since one of my Banana PI has trouble with SATA (will not initialize, but seems to be NO power problem) I will buy a new A20 board... - Cubieboard 2: too old, no Gigabit LAN, too expensive from my point of view - Cubietruck: too expensive from my point of view - Orange PI: reading forums... seems to have some HW problems, USB Host and/or SATA not functional, etc.) - Banana PI: I like…

hi there, just created the account to report what i experienced with my r1. unfortunately i had a bunch of changes w/o reboot so i only can estimate what caused the gap but im pretty sure it was at least the fact that i changed to the /etc/network/interfaces.r1router cfg before i rebooted from do-release-upgrade to xenial (install image has been the recent trusty of today). that was when i couldnt even ping my banana from any other box in my home net. have to say im with the german telekom which provides ipv6 in a dual stack manor. i saw on the pi console that it got the exspected ipv4, but also ipv6 addresses by telekom speedport dhcp. nevertheless from my other box it l…

I have spent hours trying to get any activity on my new Orange Pi PC I just purchased. I have been downloading and burning different images, reformatting / trying different SD cards, 2 power supplies, using DD, WIn32DiskImager, Rufus, scanning my SD using F3, etc lots of "pain". The solution - which I found somewhere halfway by accident - is that some boards do not have card slots mounted correctly, but you can flex the card to make it work. So yes, I flexed the SD card and applied power, and like magic I got actual LED activity. OMG it boots now! Would have worked the entire time but it did not make contact with the SD card. My solution for now is to stick a laye…

Hi, since many month I did not used my BPi M2+ that previously worked with the 5.14 image since not working with the new one 5.25 (sha signature checked = good server image of Debian Jessie downloaded with identical signature). hello dear all, good day dear Armbian-experts recently i have managed to get Armbian up and running on a Banana Pi. I was very very glad. now i am digging deeper into the system and try to learn all the necessary things. regarding another system: on orange pi -pc i want to install armbian - from this page https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-pc/ i fetch Armbian Stretch mainline kernel 4.14.y Server or light desktop usage scenarios. Stable question: can i upgrade after the installation the system to the newest kernel... ?!? Is this possible?
-
So I have a weird problem that I haven't seen yet, so forgive me if its already been answered. But for some reason mainline kernels (bionic and stretch) both bootloop at the same place. Seen below: The board boots perfectly fine on legacy kernel though. I'm using decent quality Samsung SD cards, and I've tried every combination of usb cable/powerbrick as well as the barrel jack so I'm not sure what the snag is.

Hi, I have two questions: 1. Where can I download the latest image for my board? rom this forum entry I see there is no armbian image for the first Orange Pi? The link https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi/ doesn't work, as it redirects to https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-plus/ which is definetly not the same (A20<>H3) 2. After doing a 'firmware upgrade' from armbian-config, it identifies itself as a Banana-pi. Is it normal? The MOTD is BPi and armbian-config shows BananaPi as well.

I'm using vanilla Ubuntu Xenial 16.04 from http://www.armbian.com/lamobo-r1/ When I follow the forum posts for copying everything to the SATA drive and updating /etc/fstab and /boot/boot.cmd the system boots as expected to the SATA drive. The problem I have is I get prompted to upgrade it on boot using apt-get upgrade. This also upgrades the kernel version from 4.6.2 to 4.6.3. Because I have moved the system from the SD card to the SATA drive the new kernel doesn't load, only the old kernel with missing modules which causes problems. When the kernel updates it updates the SATA drive /boot directory but the device uses the sd card /boot directory so things get screwed…

I used the wrong power adapter this morning on one of my OPI PC... what could go wrong? So far, I noticed that the poor U5 - SY8008B regulator overheated and blew. From the schematics, this seems to be connected to "AVCC" (the H3's PLL and the TV out). U11 isn't outputting anything, but chip select is off. Since this is the USB host, I'm not too surprised. Is it worth trying to reflow a new regulator on ? Wondering...

After receiving several Orange Pi Zeros and a Pi+2E, I have been experiment on different ways to connect them using the g_ether and usbnet modules, and configuring the Zero OTG port as slave (mode 2). My last attempt was to use the Pi+2E as a data concentrator, connecting three different OPIZ on the independent USB channels, creating ethernet over USB links ... this have been my week's nightmare. By now these are my findings (could change with more information at hand). 1) The Pi+2E enables 4 different usb ports. The usb0 is the OTG microUSB port, and the usb1, usb2 and usb3 are the other exposed type A USB ports. 2) The usb0 has a particular MAC Address and…

However, I reinstalled everything again and downloaded the latest version of the operating system here on the site. When I try to use onboard audio (both capture and output) does not work. I have already enabled the analog-codec and it still does not work. Remembering that I already used the equipment with the Armbian and used the onboard capture of the board perfectly. Thanks!
