  1. Hi all! I sadly found that I can't watch my videos. Everything's fine with youtube, nevertheless. But video I tested (h264 + avc1, m4v and avi containers) looks like fast slideshow, and sound is VERY ugly! I've tried to install mali-midgard-dkms, I've failed (see below). What should I do to watch the videos? Convert 'em all to some chosen codec? Add to sources.list kind of "unstable" thing and upgrade? Install another armbian image? Find proper mali drivers and compile it carefully? Please, help! armbianmonitor -u http://ix.io/2mXg __@opi3 ~ # apt-get install mali-midgard-dkms …

  2. Hi, this is not a complaint, just wondering if I am doing something wrong. When I try "any(Pine64,Sopine,Olinuxino-A64,Bananapi-M64)" A64 board with armbian 3.10.x kernel, desktop performance is quite satisfactory. Example: https://dl.armbian.com/_old/pine64/archive/Armbian_5.90_Pine64_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.10.107_desktop.7z But when I build armbian in docker, both 5.4 and 5.6 kernels, I experience dramatic slowdown on desktop performance, even cursor is moving slowly. Here are armbian monitor logs: http://ix.io/2oW4 and http://ix.io/2oVY Here is how it looks on BPI-m64 as an exam…

  3. hi everyone, I'm running latest Armbian 20.08.1 Buster with Linux 5.8.5-sunxi on a Nanopi Neo Core. I cannot understand why I cant turn GPIOA0 on\off, can't configure it as output. I have no problem with any other GPIOs, just this one. command i'm using: gpio mode 0 output gpio write 0 1 I managed to make the GPIO as Output using this command, but still no go - the output cannot be set. echo 0 > /sys/class/gpio/export echo out > '/sys/class/gpio/gpio0/direction' dmesg don't show any errors. I checked H3 documents, there's no conflict in the mux with other GPIOs, and just to be sure i turned UART every…

  8. Out of curiosity, and according to several articles/posts including this one http://forum.lemaker.org/thread-1847-1-1.html the A20 has support for hardware watchdogs. Has some successfully configured and used the watchdog kernel module sunxi_wdt.ko in a banana / lamobo R1?

  9. Started by alpinista,

Is there any way I can make use of the VDPAU implementation for A20 with the mainline kernel? Or will I have to use the old 3.4 kernel? Thanks Paul

  10. On a previous build (and separate board), I have both wlan0 and wlan1 showing up as wireless interfaces on my OrangePi+ board. I have since upgraded the image on a new board, and now I only see wlan0. The software I've written for the board relies on having both wireless interfaces present, however, I'm not sure how to get the other one to show up. I've performed the apt-get update and apt-get upgrade, and then installed the image to EMMC. I've basically got a fresh image, and I'm unsure what I need to do next in order to get the wireless adapters to show up properly. Can someone help me out? Thank you!

I want to set my pi to use 1 cpu core, disable usb ports and set Ethernet link speed at 100Mb/s etc to reduce consumption however not all the changes will apply at once (see picture attached) If cpu is running at one core and ram at reduced speed, ethernet link speed will still be at 1gbps and the other way round when Link speed is at 100Mbps.

Hi all, I'm currently running Armbian 5.36 Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS 4.11.1-sun50iw2. This was / is a local armbian build that I performed a few months ago to resolve an issue that I saw at that time in the network stack that prevented ipsec working correctly. I've performed apt update / apt upgrade since however cat /proc/version still reports the version as that which I manually built back in June. Fast forward to today and I'd like to try out some traffic shaping tc rules but I'm running into some difficulty, which is making me doubt if my kernel has the support needed for iproute2. The following works without any issue to list existing rul…

  19. So I have an application which requires 1Mbps UART and wasted a few days trying to debug my board thinking that was the issue (was working perfect at 115kps), so I decided to scope the UART TX from the orangpi, and of course that signal was not actually working at 1Mbps. Scope is saying that its running at 750Kbps. Did some research and it looks like there is some sort of UART scaling frequency set in the driver, which excludes certain bitrates from running (check here https://github.com/jernejsk/linux/blob/master/drivers/tty/serial/sunxi-uart.c#L356-L381 ) Did some further tests and 460Kbps works fine as well as 1.5Mbps (so its not an issue w…

  21. I use OrangePi R1 with connected RS485-TTL module to UART1 (PG6, PG7). RS485 communicates with a heatpump. Heatpump transmits data to RS485 module and I read and decode the data with a program and make some ACK replies. Everything worked fine for a month till OrangePi Power Adapter died. I have replaced Power Adapter and my program now stopped working. I have already spent couple days debugging. Replaced the cable from the heatpump to RS485-TTL module. Tried to see what is happening on the RS485 line with oscilloscope. Start of the diagram always looks good, but the end is skewed and corrupt. It seems like RS485 tries to send data while it receives and ce…

Accessing the system with PUTTY/ssh works fine. apt-get update/upgrade/reboot won't help. The display does 1280x1024 resolution maximum. Just before I used banian without any problems. 30. Hey, after making sure that all packages are current (armbianmobitor upload available at http://sprunge.us/Migh)I still have the problem currently that my three cubietruicks freeze after working 1-3 days. Mostly they are still ping-able, but no "heartbeat led blinking" happens anymore and SSH connect also not possible. The logs simply say nothing. Can I simply downgrade to that using sudo apt-get install linux-u-boot-cubietruck-next=5.20 or such? Thanks for an advice... Ingo Fischer

  49. Hello everyone! I am trying to set up a CSI camera for my Orange Pi win plus (A64). The camera is GC2035 and I have already seen it not easy with latest versions. New versions of Armbian have not CSI support and do not have drivers gc2035 and vfe_v4l2. I found you can somehow compile the driver but honestly.....I do not understand how. I know the process of ./compile.sh but no idea how to use this https://github.com/avafinger/gc2035 It says is for H3, probably not for A64 right? Looking for the oldest version of Armbian I could use, I found out on the archive this one: Armbian_5.59_Orangepiwin_Ubuntu_xenial_default_..&g…

  51. Hi Igor, after trying and failing totally with Bananian etc. I found your images. So I installed the Jessie image 21.5.15 / 3.4.107 on my BananaPro which seemed to boot up somehow. I can ping the BananaPro fine but can't login via SSH. The SSH connection simply times out, even after rebooting the BPro. Do you or anyone else know what to do? Thanks!

  52. I'm using latest armbian with kernel 4.3.3 and got some problem: I have some usb-drives that should be mounted at boot via fstab. But sometimes they are not mounted at boot, after restart they mount normally. Never had problems with same fstab, only with kernel 4.3.3 it sometimes failed to mount. Seen same behaviour with bananian with 4.3-kernel, so maybe it has to do something with this kernel? Maybe some usb modules didn't load before mounting fstab? But i'm linux noob, so i dont know what i can do... Some suggestions?

  57. Hi, I trying to use UART 1 & UART 2 at OPi Zero 2 Plus with no success with armbian stable and ubuntu server. I test all combinations, of fex settings, turn off everything except required uarts, set uart_type = 2 and etc, and it did not connect. UART0 and UART3 works fine, but I need cts-rts lines from uart2 for hi speed (it's uart_type = 4, but I would like to start regular uart first). tested with picocom, ft232 & pl2303 I use 8 & 10 pins for uart 1 and 11&13 for uart2 as described at http://linux-sunxi.org/Orange_Pi_Zero Is it correct pins? Thanks

  58. Last year I started a solar-sensing project with the Orange-Pi-Zero (256k), Armbian5.25, legacy kernel and made it work after a while. The Wifi funktion was rather poor and deteriorating, so I ordered a new OpiZero-Plus2-H3, same physical shape and connectors (I thought). Now the -P2 Armbian image 5.30 for the new board loaded perfectly, the Wifi function is really improved due to better hardware. The python part of the code works (still) perfectly. Only (most of) the gpio-functions of my project do not work any more with the new board attached. I use PA07, PA13 and PA14 for bit-bang gpio and a 1-wire sensor via the kernel. 60. Hi i did some comparison of NanoPi NEO Kernel 3.4 (Jessie) and kernel 4.4 (Stretch). - Looks like the temperature limit controlling of 4.4 is not working as good as 3.4 (on 4.4 Kernel the CPU reaches more than 85 °C!) - GPIO (wiringPi) has less performance (-4%) - SPI has better performance (10%) - CPU performance is ~6% better (nbench, maybe the newer compiler) - consumption is besser on Kernel 3.4, especially on halt state I did a fork for wiringpi Library to make it work on Armbian Jessie and Stretch https://github.com/mstroh76/WiringNP (so far only for NEO)

  64. I downloaded the armbian focal image for NanoPi NEO/Core board, and it works great. (Specifically, Armbian_20.11.10_Nanopineo_focal_current_5.10.4.img, so it's a few months old.) I'd like to start creating my own image, and I'm all setup to do that, but what I'd love to do is start from the .config file(s) used to create the image I'm using. That way I have a known base configuration from which to start modding. Are those available anywhere to download? Thanks!

  65. Good day Armbian Forums! I'm having some trouble with builds of Armbian (up to and including 21.08.6 | kernel 5.10.60-sunxi) seeing wireless access points that are configured to channels 12 & 13 on my Orange Pi Zero Plus2 boards (H3 + 256mb RAM). Specifically, the default Android image (a generic Chinese-language Android multimedia system) that's loaded onto these boards can see and connect to access points that have been set to all channels (1-13) successfully, but any Armbian image I have tried fails to see anything (and subsequently cannot connect) to routers on channels 12 & 13. Due to the nature of this, I believe it may be a region setting or dri…

Hello fellow Armbianers! I'm using Orange Pi zero. My only complaint is the 30s boot time. Looking at the log files, seems like it only takes 5 seconds to boot once the kernel is loaded. The majority of this 30s is spent in uboot somewhere? Does anyone know how to speed up this boot process? I'm always just booting from SD card, don't need USB boot/network boot, console, or any of that. Thanks!

I tried a new sd installation and it too does not appear on the network. Right now I don't have a serial cable to check but it is possible that the network driver is missing or not working. 72. Hello there, I belong to the group of users that bought a BPi-M2 to just find out that hardware is nothing without software support. First, to my background: I do spend a lot of time at my computer using both Windows and Linux, but I am not a Linux guru. I used to configure and build kernels several years ago, at the time, when we used LILO to boot Linux. My field of interest is real-time sound processing, based on complex filter banks (ideally implemented using multi-threading). For a current project I needed something small, powerful and easily programmable. Since the BPi-M2 has 4 cores and built-in microphone, it seemed ideal for the first tries. Anyway, I…

  74. I keep my Lime2 updated with apt-get update/apt-get upgrade, but it does not upgrade the u-boot, that is still an old version: U-Boot SPL 2015.07-armbian-sun7i (Oct 11 2015 - 17:17:10) DRAM: 1024 MiB CPU: 912000000Hz, AXI/AHB/APB: 3/2/2 Because the network speed is not that fast, I suspect this could be solved with a more recent u-boot. I flashed a new SD card and went step by step to see what was causing the problem. I resize the filesystem, update and upgrade the system, then I set up the static IP, so this happens. I tried both by /etc/netwkork/interfaces and by nmtui. 83. Hello! In order to compile software on my Banana Pi running Armbian 5.27 Debian 8, I started off uncommenting the "# deb-src" lines in /etc/apt/sources.list and then ran apt-get update and apt-get upgrade. The start screen in the shell would then ask me to reboot as the kernel was updated. But after the reboot there was no AppleTalk anymore to serve my old devices. Compiling a newer Armbian with an up-to-date version of Debian is of no use to me as I run software (A2SERVER) that is incompatible with newer systems. So how can I upgrade my system without loosing AppleTalk (which I configured as a kernel module when compiling two years ago)? …

  100. Hi, Are there any news on if Armbian will be on the new H5 64bit board? Orange released an Android SDK and an Android image but I guess everyone is waiting for a decent 64bit Debian. Since took the plunge and got into the H5 wagon ordering one, I looked at the released info and obviously there was nothing I could use myself.. So the question goes to the Armbian gurus, guys do you think that there could be an Armbian release for H5 this year? Christos
