Hello there, I am looking for some feedback/suggestion about an issue I have. Installed Armbian legacy kernel just yesterday. Then I have plugged https://www.olimex.com/Products/USB-Modules/MOD-WIFI-AR9271-ANT/ to enable wifi and found out I missed required firmware. I installed such firmware (htc_9271.fw) first by Ubuntu linux-firmware package, then tried with armbian-firmware-full, then I have downloaded from here http://linuxwireless.org/download/htc_fw/1.3/ (putting in /lib/firmware and after failing tried also /lib/firmware/ath9k_htc like package manager does. I have also tried compiling my own version from here https://github.com/qca/open-ath…

Anyone have the idea? I don't have a screen or tv even a router here course I am at university. So I directly connected my computer with the board. Don't think anything is wrong.

So I did the following today: Spoiler sed -i /deb/s/jessie/stretch/g /etc/apt/sources.list $ sed -i /deb/s/jessie/stretch/g /etc/apt/sources.list.d/*.list apt-get update apt-get upgrade apt-get dist-upgrade Everything went fine except at the end where it complained about busybox not being there and it failed the update of initramfs... This was no issue. I installed busybox, rebooted, ran apt-get autoremove and then autoclean and everything worked fine. I was still on kernel 3.x, so I ran armbian-config but I did not see the latest kernel present in the switch kernel option. I ran apt-get install linux-image.next.sunxi (or some…

I have read two old threads in this forum: I have been running this (will post more details if needed) for a few days: VERSION=5.90 DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu DISTRIB_RELEASE=18.04 DISTRIB_CODENAME=bionic DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS" NAME="Ubuntu" VERSION="18.04.3 LTS (Bionic Beaver)" Kernel is 4.19.62-sunxi The BPi would hang/freeze, seemingly randomly within a day or two. When it does that, there is no HDMI video or response to ping. After reading the first thread, I did stress test on the BPi for more than 2 days. The BPi actually hold up. So, next I ran "ping -i 30 -D 192.168.8.1" -- pinging …

Hello guys, I am experiencing such a problem: When I boot my orangepi it starts and it is visible in the router's page view getting IP with dhcp. As soon as I connect over ssh (at least this is the way to trigger it, not sure if it is hapening automatically after a while), the device disappears from the network and it is no more available! I have seen this behaviour happening on 2 different routers. Then I rebooted the device again and in the router config I put the same IP statically linked to the device and I tried to connect over ssh and it worked without disappearing anymore. So it sounds like a bug somewhere using dhcp protocol. Is som…

Hi! I use this board since jun/2019 with Armbian 5.90 and kernel 5.1.15 (all OK except HDMI audio). In these 6 months tried to update kernel image few times, 5.2.x some months ago and now 5.5.0, but not more 1920x1080 support, the maximum is 1280x1024. Xrandr not show as supported mode anymore, whats happen? This is related to u-boot? I think can not read EDID, because no monitor model name is shown. Another question is, now in 5.5.x I can see HDMI audio device, but still can't listen, what left to be developed?

I'm a newbie. Got the NanoPi R1 that sports a UART but no Video Output. Now when I want to read the output of the serial console I need a 3-wire cable and a converter, that much I know. But what is the baud rate? Where is this configured on the armbian NanoPiR1 image (on my raspberry Pi I just checked and found the file /boot/cmdline.txt with that settings, in my case it's 115200) Why is the baud rate nowhere documented? On the download page https://www.armbian.com/nanopi-r1/ it is stated that "serial console is enabled on UART1, which is exposed on chasis" , but no hint about which speed to use. There neither is any info about the baud rate on…

I'm connecting my Orange PI PC 3.5mm jack to this power amp: HiLetgo 5pcs PAM8403 2x 3W Mini Digital Power Amplifier Board AMP Class D 2.5-5V Input If I connect a 5v 2a power supply to the amp and a 3a 5v power supply to the Orange PI PC, it sounds great with no noise form the Orange PI and no distortion from the amp power supply. If I try to run the amp from the 5v pins on the Orange PI PC with the 3amp 5v supply, it will work, but there is a lot of noise from the main board and the amp does not get enough power to run properly. Should 3a be enough to run both these peripherals? I think the power amp will pull about 600ma, not sure what the Orange PI…

I just discovered that /usr/bin/su in my Armbian: v26.2.1 for Orange Pi PC running Armbian Linux 6.12.58-current-sunxi is a x86_64 binary: $ ls -l /usr/bin/su -rwsr-xr-x 1 root root 50800 Mar 6 13:10 /usr/bin/su $ file /usr/bin/su /usr/bin/su: setuid ELF 64-bit LSB executable, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), statically linked, no section header I installed the rust version, su-rs, but I thought it would be useful to warn about this. I checked /usr/bin and /usr/sbin and this is the only x86-64 executable.

On a Banana PRO with Debian Jessie I installed the lightweight desktop and all is more or less usable except the web browsing. I been using Iceweasel and Epiphany Browser (I can find Midori on the included repositories) but are completely unusable. I suppose that images are using the philosophy of "Disabled all memory reservations for GPU" Is a problem about the dedicated RAM to the graphics engine? How I can change this memory split? Thanks in advance.

Hello, My project for Orange Pi Lite will be used in a car. To make the installation easy for everyone I would like to supply it from car lighter socket. Of course, this solution is not perfect (frequent insert/pull the plug by the user, current decays etc.). I mean problems with switching off without shutdown. I also mean how uSD will stand it. For now, I thing to attach an 18650 cell with booster/charger which will work as a "buffer" to keep current when the lighter socket is off. But I am afraid that it can keep power only for 1-2 hour. Is there a possibility to check the power level of the connected cell and shut down the system when the power is low? P…

I received today my BPI M2+, however, I cannot make it boot. I tried both Diet Pi and Armbian Server. No boot. The red LED is on all the time. I'm using a Samsung EVO 32 GB SD card flashed with Etcher on Ubuntu. My power supply is a 5v 3A barrel connector. Since the usual suspects are not the cause, I have no idea what might be going wrong.

Hi guys, Quick question about the USB ports on the Cubietruck. Once I am done with the usual setup procedure (changing the root password and setup a user) system reboot. I sometimes end up in situations where I need to access the Cubietruck directly and not through ssh. In such situations I noticed that my usb keyboard and mouse do not respond at all, eventhough if these are the exact same ones hich I used to the 1first time setup. What could be the reason for this ? Thx,blub4747

Orange Pi Zero Plus2 H5 I currently am booting from the onboard 8GB EMMC. As I am still experimenting with this board, sometimes I would like to wipe and start from a backup remotely, keeping a copy of my backup on an SD card that's in the machine used for extra storage space. I use timeshift on my Mint laptop that restores a snapshot of / from an SDcard, but it is a graphical utility. Is there a similar CLI utility for Armbian? Or one that can be installed? Thanks.

Does anyone has a solution to preconfigure the WIFI of my Armbian from windows (or Linux if needed)? Update: checking download file, it seems that I downloaded Armbian_4.5_Cubieboard2_Debian_jessie_4.2.3.zip so it's not 4.81 no matter what the download pages said. I'm trying to install upstream kernel on Cubieboard 2 and kernel never starts. Attached is output from boot (I'm getting same on serial port). I did try different sdcard (to rule out problems with it) but I'm worried about ext4fs_devread read error and partition error. Is there something more that I can try? Legacy kernel works well, but I wasn't able to just upgrade kernel and u-boot on it, but that resulted in unbootable system -- which packages I have to install to migrate from legacy to upst…

Hi, I am running headless mainline jessie image on my cubietruck smoothly for some months now. The only drawback is that i need from time to time to play some videos on the tv. I have been waiting for hardware video acceleration in order to install mpv and play videos without GUI. I have been looking at the sunxi mainline effort and I see that for kernel 4.8 they plan the display engine clocks (TCON, FE, DE). As I am not a developer, it is not obvious to me (I have already googled it but no luck) if the display engine clocks are what we are waiting for hardware video acceleration on the mainline kernel. Can someone please explain (this noob question) what are displa…

Hi guys, I'm trying to solve a very specific problem in our company and after reading several tutorials I'm still not sure, how to achieve my goal. It would nice, if anyone can share his code or help me, however I will also to try to finish it and post the solution here. Idea/Issue: We've upgraded a very old cutting machine with plasma cutter, however there is only a USB port on the device, therefore our colleagues have to go several times per day from office to workshop and swap flashdrives. Thanks to size of our plant this isn't very good solution. Idea is to take Orange Pi One and connect it to the machine through OTG port, therefore it will act as Flashdrive. Th…

Hi guys, I bought the orange zero and then I realized how poor wifi. I had some wifi modules from old tablets at home, they are rlt8188eu. After I joined the orange, there was another problem. Wifi driver could not be initialized, because I knew that these modules can operate on orange pc out of box, I began to research the problem. Cause I am linux ZERO, it took me longer time, but I finally found soulution. Problem was in fex file for orange zero, wifi_usbc_type = it´s without parameter, after I added some parameter ( "5" from working orange pc fex), wifi work like a charm. I´m not sure if it´s purpose, or bug, so I write you....

The pcduino discussions appear to be centred here and the A10 appears to be a cutdown A20 so please forgive me if this is in the wrong area. I've been playing with an old pcduino2 and have got the latest mainline server version of Armbian installed on it. Very impressive. However, it appears to have only a single I2C bus and no SPI devices. It looks like there should be a sun4i-a10-spi-spidev.dts file somewhere or else some way to build the appropriate kernel modules but I have been unable to find this. I understand that this is a deprecated board but I should (hopefully) be able to perform any kernel builds required and am more than happy to feed the resul…

Hello folks, I'm having trouble booting to Armbian. The green LED turns on, and the LAN lights work, but outputting to HDMI always ends in no signal. I have tried: - Using official Orange Pi operating systems, they work, but are unstable. - Using f3 to check if my SD card is corrupted/fake. Returns working. - Using different power bricks, will still turn on leds, but not output to HDMI - Using different Armbian kernels, no success Any ideas lads?

I was updating some images and thought the Orange Pi + had been retired ... but there was no Support Ended note. I see a lot of other Plus versions of Orange pi boards listed, but not the plain Orange Pi +. Seems easy to miss ;] A little searching found the Orange Pi + is supported https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-plus/ Am I just missing the link in Downloads? The only way I've been able to get to the page is by direct url or a duckduckgo search https://duckduckgo.com/?q="orange+pi+plus"+armbian&t=raspberrypi&ia=web

After having my old debian (wheezy? or jessy?) unbootable from systemd update I decided to clean install. Having gotten a good Power supply, an A1 Speed 10 SD card, etcher image, and armbian debian 20.08 (also tried 20.07), The board boots (Welcome to armbian) up to "network interfaces up) - then the screen goes blank/black, and I get the green led heardbeat (slow blinking) for a while. Pushing power again the board shuts down (green LED blinking rapidly for a moment, then red power LED comes off). I have had installed boot to nand / Sata disk before but all that shouldn't matter I think because the boot from SD Card seems successful - why could it be th…

Orange Pi Zero 512 MB has a serious wifi problem. After i connect the wifi network, i loose connection and i can't access my zero until i connect with ethernet cable. Interestingly, after i connect ethernet cable, wifi reconnects. i set up my wifi connection with nmtui. Auto connect enabled. I really need to solve this wifi issue. In my thinking there two options, which one is better i don't know. 1 st option: I have to buy wifi adaptor, but i don't know will it solve the problem. (and probably i am going to have driver problem) 2nd option: I am going to write a new thread with python. This code will check wifi connection every 10 seconds, if …

Hello, I've issue with nameserver. My router DHCP DNS server point to the Pi which has IP 10.6.6.3. I am trtying to keep my pcduino 3 nano alive. It has been working perfectly under a debian bullseye distro from Johan Gunarsson for 4 years and now I can't get the OTG to work under any release (bullseye, bookworm or trixie) I have explored many avenues, but even a plain manual setup of g_mass_storage doesn't work in a workable way. The drive appears in Windows Explorer after several minutes, and any copy or delete to that gadget drive takes ages (3+ minutes for a 12kb file) before it fails or succeeds silently. I am looking for a forum where pcduino users can help each other. Thank you, Gaetano.

Hello I'm investigating update from wheezy to trusty on my OrangePI (A20) based home media server. I'm using custom kernel 3.4.110 with SATA multiplier support. System is on HDD. I had few remarks and issues (part of them were solved but some are not): - Video acceleration was not working out of the box on trusty desktop image but it was solved it by installing "Desktop-extras for Jessie-desktop (sunxi)" - it looks it could be added as default for trusty. But mvp package can't be installed due to depedencies to libs which I did not found in ubuntu reps?! - compositing if OFF in xfce but when I moving windows on the desktop, CPU load is becoming 100% till I stop movi…

Hi, when I try to update my core the apt-get install operation fails. This is because the post-installation script creates a symbolic link as the boot partition does not support because she is fat. Also the boot is only possible with a uImage not zImage I think. To compensate I am forced to make a copy instead of the link.

First off, I'd like to thank the maintainers for all the work you've put into Armbian. It's really been a pleasure to use. I'm currently using an OrangePI 2+as a kiosk computer, and I'm wondering if there might be some other way to wake it from sleep other than pressing the power button. Would it be possible for it to wake from sleep if one of the GPIO pins were pulled high, for instance? TIA, -Jim

Hi, I tryied a few times to run a RT kernel I built from https://github.com/igorpecovnik/lib as discribed in Armbian documentation and as in https://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/1950-orange-pi-pc-plus-armbian-guitarix-guitar-effectprocessor/page-2#entry16460. When executing compile.sh script it patch nice and good, then asks for Preemption Model and I chose 5 for Full Realtime. But when running the kernel into OrangePi it stucks in Starting Kernel. U-boot output: I am not choosing 1-4 for preemption model because I don't know if it will end up as an realtime kernel. The update from the older kernel to the rt one was done by dpkg -i on the deb files from the…

I have an issue with armbian installed oPI PC+. I have it in a case with a cooling fan installed and connected to 2 GPIO pins. My question is: could the cooling fan connection be the cause for my oPI PC+ won't shut down from the power supply and keeps running in the background after i shut down armbian? Any suggestions, I haven't tried starting without the cooling fan yet.

I have OPI 2 running latest armbian mainline with MQTT broker and home assistant only. And I've started to experience hard freezes that only power re-plug helps :/ At first I thought that only networking was gone, but I've triggered hearbeat on red onboard led and this led is just stopping blinking on freezes. I've even got rid of Network Manager and setup iface in old good way via /etc/networking/interfaces. Then I've connected to serial console, run minicom in screen with logging to file. Just to see if serial console would show some kernel panic or so...but nothing, no output on serial console. Anyone experienced such behaviour? How to debug it? My sec…

Hi everyone, I am using nmtui to setup static ip both eth0 and wlan0 on orange pi zero. It works fine if only one of them was activated I want to use both. If LAN cable was be connected into pi, the board is run on ethernet. On other side, run on wifi when the cable was pluged out When I rebooted the pi without LAN cable, the eth0 auto activated lead to I can't access the module via wifi even though it is connected successful. I must connect via serial and disable eth0 after that I connected via wifi.

I'm using a NanoPi Neo as Homegear gateway. This requires the SPI interface (/dev/spidev0.0). Yesterday I ran apt-get upgrade, which bumped my kernel from 5.10.60 to 5.15.25. No other changes have been done, Since then no SPI devices are created anymore and the gateway fails! I tried to downgrade the kernel already using armbian-config to 21.08 5.10.60-sunxi. But that reported an error (do not remember the text; was very late) and left the Nano unbootable. I could restore the 5.15.25 kernel by manually editing the zImage symbolic link in /boot. Using param_spidev_spi_bus=1 instead of 0 does not help. …

My armbian Version: Armbian_23-02-0-trunk_Bananapim2zero_lunar_edge_6.1.11_xfce_desktop The display has a pinout that matches with the raspberry pi, so also the banana pi m2 zero would do the job, since it has the same pinout like the raspberry pi has. It uses 26 pins to connect to the banana pi m2 zero gpio output pins. 3 buttons and a touch panel are available but i only want to use the lcd for now. Hi all. I'm running armbian in all my orangepi boards since I've them and the distro is great and we'll developed. (thanks!) I run them with telephone chargers (htc and Samsung) 2/1.5A directly connected to the board via a 30cm cable. I don't know what's the status of data pins (d+ d-) but I think they are left open by the cable. They are used for sdr use running dump1090 all the time. In the aim of reducing the heat I've disabled two cores (only recently) out of four and installed a copper heatsink on the cpu. The problem is that from time to time I found my boards unresponsive from ethernet and serial port, so completely stuck. Only a reboot works. Do you h…

Hi all, I'm new here, and first of all I want to greet you. Last week I got a brand new Banana PI M2+, and tried to install the latest armbian Image on SD card. So far so good, but the M2+ is not booting from SD card. Except I short press the uBoot button followed by the reset button. It only boots from NAND, if I press the uBoot button before. (Installed to NAND before, of course) To verfy that I do not have any hardware issue, I downloaded a original Banana PI M2+ Image from the Banana-pi…

For some reason the reboot command doesn't appear to reboot the H3. Is this because it doesn't have a PMIC in the same way that the A20's do or is it just a case of the correct assembly instruction not being called?

I have been running Armbian_5.14_Orangepipc_Ubuntu_xenial_3.4.112 that has been upgraded to the 4.7.3 kernel via apt. Yesterday I allowed it to update to 4.8.3 and it won't boot anymore. Any ideas? I have reverted to the 4.7.3 kernel from a backup and it works again. I have isolated it to the packages :linux-dtb-dev-sun8i linux-firmware-image-dev-sun8i linux-headers-dev-sun8i linux-image-dev-sun8i Here is the startup output from serial port: ------------------------------------------------------------ OPTIONS: I18n Compiled on Feb 7 2016, 13:37:27. So I'm pretty new at using serial ports in linux so not even sure if this is the right place. I'm playing around with MIDI using the serial ports on the Orange PiLite - it uses the baud rate of 31250 to achieve this you use setserial to get the base_baud (which it reports as 1500000) and you divide by the speed you want to get the divisor i.e. 1500000/31250 = 48 this becomes >setserial /dev/ttyS1 divisor 48 speed_cust So now when you use 38400 as your baud speed it actually becomes 31250.... ...in theory after some fiddling I found the divsor is actually 50 as 48 gives you weird results which would suggest that the base_baud is actually 1562…

I was unable to get UART working on my Orange Pi Zero. Note, that I am not trying to use UART to access the terminal, I need to use the UART port to say connect to an arduino, etc. Here is the output of some commands that I thought may be helpful. uname -a Linux orangepizero 4.10.0-sun8i #14 SMP Fri Feb 24 03:02:58 CET 2017 armv7l armv7l armv7l GNU/Linux dmesg | grep TTY [ 0.000000] Kernel command line: root=UUID=b5fc390b-23ef-47a8-83fb-0fd94a3d2dcc rootwait rootfstype=ext4 console=tty1 console=ttyS0,115200 cgroup_enable=memory swapaccount=1 hdmi.audio=EDID:0 disp.screen0_output_mode=1920x1080p60 panic=10 consoleblank=0 enforcing=0 loglevel=1 ubootpart=8b70…
