Hi, I used Armbian_4.5_Cubietruck_Ubuntu_trusty_4.2.3 as sd card image. Later I moved it to a sata connected ssd and upgraded to 4.2.6 kernel. As I needed a second drive I bought a : StarTech.com USB 3.0 to 2.5†SATA III Hard Drive Adapter Cable w/ UASP – SATA to USB 3.0 Converter for SSD / HDD This usb to sata works fine with the ssd. The second drive is a 5v 2.5†SATA and the usb current is not enough so it is connected to the sata on cubietruck. On the second usb i have connected a usb to ethernet adapter. Trying to boot results to kernel panic (& something about no init) and cubietruck reboots. I am wondering if I need to change anything e…

I am running the desktop Ubuntu Xenial legacy image from https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-plus/. My goal is to setup the system for gaming, so I am looking to get the accelerated GPU performance. A couple questions: 1. Does this image run with an accelerated driver enabled by default? When loading applications that use GL, I see a log about not being able to load the mali driver. 2. If not, where can I get the driver and how can it be enabled? I know that distributions like RetrOrangePi include this by default, but I want to understand what they are loading so I can setup the system on my own. Thank you!

Hi, I own the first Orange Pi (A20, VGA, HDMI, NAND, 4xUSB, WiFi). I notice there is no Armbian image for download anymore. The last one I still have is a 3.4.113, 5.25 Ubuntu/Xenial-default-desktop (currently running from the NAND very well, but I can't seem to run the wifi in AP mode). Is Armbian for this board is dropped for good ? Is there a way to update my 5.25 to last version without breaking everything ? Or maybe convert a A20 image to this board, using the working image I'm currently using ? Thanks !

I know, using an old Banana Pi M1 for desktop doesn't make sense at all. I would prefer having help or/and advice clearing the problems I've encountered, instead a discussion why I'm testing a desktop environment on a BPi M1. Tested with Armbian 21.08.01 Buster / 5.10.60 After the initial boot nano or / and armbian-config doesn't work. A reboot solves this issue. After the second boot I changed verbosity to 7 and console to serial. All other changes where made throu armbian-config. Changing Pi's name works, but changing console's layout doesn't. Never mind, that is a minor problem, which can easily solved by hand. So I did "firmware upgrade" and rebooted m…

hello everyone my Orange Pi A20 does not detect any USB device with the current versions of Stretch or Bionic, but works fine with Wheezy I had try with a printer, a scanner, or USB stick. When something is connected, nothing appears in dmesg or lsusb. Yes...yes...I've been reading the troubleshooting FAQs and Google it for an answer. Change power supply and SD card, etc. But a printer or scanner doesn't consume too much power from the USB, does it? in a last effort I went back to the old Debian Wheezy (downloaded from orangepi.org) and everything works fine. Any help with that? Could it be a kernel parameter o…

I've got a new problem with my Olimex A20 Lime2 board. The board doesn't freeze anymore (http://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/295-freezing-problem-with-olimex-a20-lime-2/) but after a week I've got a very slow speed using samba: about 300 kbps. I've tried to restart the smbd service but it doesn't work. The smbd process don't use cpu: < 5 %. If I restart completely the board, samba start to works again very fast and use the cpu: > 50%. How can I discover where is the problem and how to fix it? I'm using Debian jessie 4.2.6-sunxi, and there are no more updates.

Hi Forum, Please let me take a "low level" question about what I experienced on my CT. It should be my misunderstanding but it would be good if someone could help to clarify. On my CT udev mounts a USB device then starts a bash script in the background. This script lunches some bash threads and waits for them to complete. The threads has no common job on any file or resource. In the third level of nesting cp -r chrashes without any error message. It leaves the logging sentence in the middle, so it's really chrashes. rsync does the same but for different files. The scripts are fully functional if I start them from a root console. Even if started in the background.…

Sorry to ask that, i know there are tons of powerconsumption-discuss an optimization, and tewaking but i got lost. I just need to know how much Ampere a Nanopi NEO drains on fullload (4Cores), connnected with ethernet, no additional USB Hardware in default (no special h3consumtion). Especially boooting (i think armbian is throtteling on boot right?) is also very interessting. I need to buy a Powersupply which is sufficient for 15 NanoPi Boards in min and max consumption. Got very confused in reading the threads... But it seems 5V/2A is just a "be save in every situation" thing, and i think there is a "window" of throtttled booting and full-load 4 Core... So would…

Whenever I connect an usb dongle (RTL8188EU), it is recognised and works, but two NICs are shown in the network manager. Also ifconfig shows interfaces, where the lsusb shows only one device. Also strange is that one is shown as wlan1, but the other as wlx<macaddress>. Does anyone know what might be causing this issue?

I have tried the image for Buster from the Download page for OrangePi PC Plus, and also built new images from current Git repo. In all cases the device bootloops when it tries to start the kernel. The image from the OrangePi website works ok. This looks like a similar issue as experienced recently with CubieTruck and BananaPi A20 boards (https://armbian.atlassian.net/browse/AR-749) which was fixed with a workaround (https://github.com/armbian/build/pull/2963) Is it possibly the same / similar underlying problem?

I'm running "Armbian_5.34.171121_Orangepizeroplus2-h5_Ubuntu_xenial_next_4.13.14.img" on an OrangePi Zero 2+ H5. Lots of testing was done with the OS installed on and running from the SDCard. I've solved the board's overheating problems by installing a 30 x 30 x 7 mm Heatsink, plus a 50mm USB Powered Centrifugal Blower Fan. At long last the board runs happily at temperatures typically up to about 40 degrees C at light to medium CPU loads, and at around 65 degrees C when the CPU is pushed to 100% utilisation. With this cooling solution, the board has been reliably running PiHole for about two months now. The 50mm fan and the big heat sink are not a very …

Can someone suggest me some ideas? Programming language does not really matter. Any ideas are welcome Regards, G.

I've done this before by loosely following this post If I setup a system without using dropbear to unlock the root partition and boot, and use a keyboard to enter the password to unlock it instead, that works fine. However, if I install the `dropbear-initramfs` package, copy my ssh keys to /etc/dropbear-initramfs/authorized_keys and then do `update-initramfs -u` the bootloader doesn't seem to get past the initial stages. Here …

Hi all! Please excuse my noobness. It's my first day on Armbian + Orange Pi Zero. Until now I was using Raspbian + RPi Zero W but I could not find related docs for what I was doing so far on the previous platform. My goal here is quite simple: being able to connect my OPi through OTG (ether) and enable the RNDIS interface on my macOS. Already tried several tips and configuration snippets I've found around, which led me to this stage: The USB0 is up and configured: 3: usb0: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 1500 qdisc pfifo_fast state UP group default qlen 1000 link/ether ee:95:f9:4f:6c:28 brd ff:ff:ff:ff:ff:ff inet…

Hello, I am working with a Nanopi Neo Air incorporating the System on Chip Allwinner H3. I need to establish a serial communication via the SPI bus, to do this I am looking for some information related to the SPI bus. Can you help me to know the following information please: - What are the min and max SPI bus frequencies that I can use with the Nanopi Neo Air (Allwinner H3)? How can I calculate them? And are there specific frequency values to use (meaning the relationship is not linear, for example: 3.84MHz, 4.34MHz, etc)? - Can the Nanopi Neo Air be configured as an SPI bus master and as a slave (not at the same time) or o…

Hi, so without knowing what the swappiness actually is I changed the value from 100 to 512. Since then, I can't boot my Banana Pi M2 Zero. Shortly after that, I remembered again: swappiness is the percentage of how often to use swap and not the maximum amount of storage. Can I repair it inside uboot? Can I plug the sd card into my PC and edit the files there? Here is the log from the serial console. It's stuck forever after the last line. .............................................................. I'm having trouble getting the RaZberry zwave extension board working in Armbian 5.31 with the mainline kernel. Previously on Bananian I just symlinked ttyS2 to ttyUSB99 and I was able to use the RaZberry with OpenZwave. But now, I have no idea how to get it working. I guess it has got something to do with overlays for the kernel but I haven't been able to find out exactly sifting thru the internet... Help very much appreciated.

Is there any point i've missed? Did i have to switch UART1 pins to in- and output? One error i get: Service Control Manager on computer xx.x.x.xx cannot be opened. Hi, I have recently installed latest (20) Armbian Desktop for OPi PC(+), have problems installing software from network repo (synaptic). 1). Small version problem with one of Qt5 libraries (dependency for Kadu - Polish communicator GG client), synaptic wants version 1u1, on the net there is version 1u3. Installed using wget + dpkg, now Kadu starts (at least) OK. 2). PostgreSQL problem: there is version 11 of PgSQL provided, OK, it's current production. BUT there is PgAdmin3(!) in repo, which works with at most version 9.6 of PgSQL (from PgAdmin site). Now there is PgAdmin4, but (I) cannot make it work (compile from source OK, but doesn't start)., there is N…

Hello. I am new to Armbian. My Banana PI M2 (already a disappointment, bad purchase on my part) is up and running but will not reboot all the way. It shuts down but does not restart again. Hi, I can boot off an SD card, but my Teres boots off internal storage to a black screen and I'm trying to figure out why. It seems even when I set verbose=7 in /boot/armbianEnv.txt, there is little to no kernel diagnostic output, even on a working SD card. I read on the debian wiki that u-boot-menu works on the Teres, but I tried installing this on an SD card and it prevents the SD card from booting (similarly to my internal storage booting issue). I've actually compared the contents of the unallocated space in front of the filesystem between the working sdcard and the internal storage, and they differ only in the partition table. Additionally …

Hello, I have following issue with HDMI resolution 1024x768. As soon as kernel starts loading, little light-green box 6x4px appears at the bottom-left corner of the screen and never goes away. Hi, I'm using a xenial system with Kernel 4.9.11-sunxi on LIME2 (actually it's an Olimex A20-SOM with external RTL8211 PHY) and trying to prevent the ethernet from coming up on boot. When turning the system on, the ethernet interface will assign a random MAC address; later on my script sets a proper MAC from an assigned range. Until then the eth0 interface must stay down to prevent the network from being spammed with bogous messages. Currently I receive rustc crashes after memory usage get to 3GB (1GB RAM + 2GB SWAP) when building firefox. After looking around why, I found that kernel isn't build with lpae extension. Although H3 soc supports lpae (Large Physical Address Extension), but kernel has CONFIG_ARM_LPAE flag not set and so we can't use more than 3GB of memory (1GB is reserved for kernel).
