So we get the Banana Pi M2+ killer soon it seems, just stumbled accross the 'NanoPi M1 Plus' in FriendlyARM repo: https://github.com/friendlyarm/h3_lichee/blob/master/tools/pack/chips/sun8iw7p1/configs/nanopi-h3/boards/sys_config_nanopi_m1_plus.fex According to fex file we get: H3 with primitive voltage regulation (1.1V/1.3V) and therefore 1200 MHz max eMMC AP6212 Wi-Fi/BT 40 pin header identical to M1 2 leds as usual (red/blue) Gigabit Ethernet 24 pin camera connector compatible to M1/Air 1 x USB OTG, 3 x host 2 x host (maybe the 3rd host port somewhere on headers) I would assume same board layout as NanoPi M1 now but one USB type A receptacle less and there the e…

Hi all, A week ago I started using the latest Armbian image (Legacy Desktop) for my Olinuxino A20L2. Since the switch from the Olinuxino A20 original image back to Armbian I noticed a lot of performance loss. Especially when surfing the web through Firefox on even simple pages is sometimes terribly slow. Anyone have an idea how to solve this?

I encountered a very strange boot behavior on OrangePI Plus 2E. When I boot from SD card with the desktop Armbian image, I'm having just an input of some color on HDMI (photo attached). No U-boot output on screen, but considering UART output both U-boot and system boot with no errors (log file is attached). Boot with the server Armbian image goes just fine, except no U-boot output on screen (only on UART) and screen resolution is 1280x720, while native resolution for the display is 1920x1080. Until recently everything worked just fine with both desktop and mainline images, and U-boot giving proper output on screen in 10920x1080 resolution. What I tried so far: …

After latest update and reboot my Banana Pi Pro does not boot. The boot screen is showing but when it starts loading the kernel, the screen just turns dark and a blinking cursor in left upper corner just appears. What to do?

After figuring out how to enable analog audio on the Lime2 (https://forum.armbian.com/index.php?/topic/4224-analog-audio-on-lime2-with-stable-kernel-version-49/), I now have the problem that there is a clearly noticeable mainline hum whenever no sound is playing. The hum goes away as soon as any sound is playing on the device, and it returns a couple seconds after the sound stopped. It appears like some kind of power saving feature kicks in. With the legacy kernel the hum goes away during boot and does not return. Any ideas?

Hello, I had a telecommunication technician logged onto my router + later that night a power outage. Now my pi (not sure before or after or related to anything), now the lights go on the pi (both + the one on the network), I can see it on the router with an IP but that is it. I can't logon to it on that IP with Putty nor can I ping it from the console on the PC. I tried now 3-4 of the builds (older ones, one official one and so on) with the flash card, but always the same. I don't have an USB to TTL converter to try that route. Is there anything else I can do? There is no way to do a hard reset, right?

I'm considering buying a Banana Pro, and I assumed I could just install a standard version of Debian Jessie directly from the official installer according to this and this, albeit without graphics or audio support. But then I came across this page and I'm not quite sure I understand the differences between Igor's images and regular a Debian installation. Is it the just the option to choose sunxi/4.0.5 kernel, some (or rather, a lot of) tweaks and scripts and drivers for misc components (IR, LVDS, etc)? I plan to use it as a headless server, what would be the advantages of running Igor's images vs a regular install? Also, on a separate question, is there any other bo…

Hello, I was tweaking the dvfs table on my OrangePI PC to find the maximum efficiency sweet spot. I noticed that no way I change the dvfs table, the maximum frequency is always 1296 Mhz. This is the very simple dvfs table I'm using now: [dvfs_table] pmuic_type = 2 extremity_freq = 1200000000 max_freq = 1200000000 min_freq = 480000000 LV_count = 2 LV1_freq = 1200000000 LV1_volt = 1240 LV2_freq = 480000000 LV2_volt = 980 but this is the result of an excerpt cpufreq-info command for cpu0: driver: cpufreq-sunxi CPUs which run at the same hardware frequency: 0 1 2 3 CPUs which need to have their frequency coordinated by software: 0 1 2 3 maximum transition…

Hi, I'm using a CubieTruck running Armbian 5.8.16. /dev/ttyS2 works fine if I use the 4.19.62 dtb but not when using the 5.8.16 dtb. I am using the uart2 overlay and param_uart2_rtscts. If I try to access the port with picocom it reports "Filedes is not a tty". Commenting the param_uart2_rtscts line makes no difference. It appears that uart2 isn't being setup as a serial port when using the 5.8.16 dtb (and overlays). But the kernel must be okay because it works with the old dtb. Does anybody have a solution here ? Or can you tell me where the sources for the dtb and overlay are ? The copies on github seem old. Thanks, S…

First time working with usb_f_uac1. Running buster image. I have a configfs setup that hosts are able to enumerate but the attributes for capture (c_chmask, c_ssize, c_srate) and playback (p_chmask, p_ssize, p_srate) seem to be switched. i.e. c_chmask = 0x3f shows as a 6-channel capture endpoint on both Windows (ksstudio) and macOS (system information) hosts. Is there something I’m misunderstanding here? Is there something I’m not doing correctly?

Hello wonderful people! I am having trouble getting my SSD1351 1.5" RGB SPI OLED working with my NanoPi Neo v1.4 running armbian 23.11.1 with kernel 6.1.63.. Since the removal of fbtft_device from the linux kernel I have had a really hard time getting any screen to work with any of my SBC's (except RaspberryPi using the fbcp_ili9341 library) I have tried converting fbcp_ili9341 for use with the NanoPi but I keep getting "Failed to load VideoCore kernel Mailbox"... so I gave up on that lol.. Then I learned dtoverlay was a thing and after days of searching around I eventually found a .dts file for the SSD1351 here (https://github.com…

Hi, We've built a network experimentation system using NanoPi R1 modules, but when load testing the system with iperf3, we are seeing the on-board RTL8152 interface enter a state where it does not seem to be responding until the board is power cycled. The system consists of 32 NanoPi modules connected in a torus, with the 1Gig interface connected to its neighbour's 100Mbit interface. An additional USB Ethernet dongle functions as a control interface. The modules are powered from a Ubiquiti PoE switch, using this type of isolated PoE splitter. Eyeballing the switch UI, power consumption per node seems to hover between 2.3W-3.5W, depending on load. W…

I noticed that the Cubie a5e would reboot when anything that draws moderate power (>100mA) was connected to the USB3 port. Thought it was my power supply or USB cable, but after changing that out and doing some testing, I have determined that the reboot problem doesn't happen with the Radxa Bullseye image, only with the Armbian Trixie. I haven't had a chance to test older Armbian builds to see if it broke somewhere along the way, but that's what I'll do next. I have an orange pi+ 2e that is being used for pihole. I want to set my pi to use 1 cpu core, disable usb ports and set Ethernet link speed at 100Mb/s etc to reduce consumption however not all the changes will apply at once (see picture attached) If cpu is running at one core and ram at reduced speed, ethernet link speed will still be at 1gbps and the other way round when Link speed is at 100Mbps.

Hi, I have been working on this problem for a few days. I have a orangepi plus2e and orange pi 5'' lcd. When I make all the connections and give power to the orangepi, I can not see anything on the LCD. At first only a white light comes out. Later on, I looked at the 5 inch screen produced by OrangePi with 640x480 resolution and the LCD settings on the H3 boards. I tried to set the resolution with the h3disp command, but I did not see the proper resolution. I did these on a different computer screen, and when I changed the resolution, nothing appeared on this screen.

Hello, I know this is slightly the wrong subforum... I'm using an OrangePi PC2 with ARMBIAN 5.34.171109 nightly Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS 4.13.11-sunxi64 I tried installing rpimonitor using rpimonitor -r after creating a "pi" user and a "pi" group That part worked. Afterwards, it told me that the webserver would be available at 192.168.0.xxx:8888 I tried that. Surprisingly, not the customized version of OrangePi-Monitor appeared, but the "original" RPI Verison. I fixed that copying /etc/rpimonitor/template/OrangePI_xx.conf to /etc/rpimonitor/template/data.conf. After restarting, it actually works, but placeholde…

Hi All! I had the same problem with several different kind of wifi SoC-s on an R1 board, with different operating systems: wifi is slow and unreliable in AP mode. Both with integrated RTL8192CU, an external RTL8192EU, RT3570 and RT5370, various Atheros chipset based dongles - all of them is very slow. I had no any problem on single-eth BananaPi board, but i got less than 2mbit up/download speed on a 30mbit+ network... I tried several OpenWrt versions (official 1,2,3 and latest trunk), now i tested Igor's ubuntu with the same result: slow and lagging Do You have same experience? Or is it working fast? Any idea? Best regards, Peter

Hi, I'm wondering if I can use your images for running an audio streamer, outputing digital audio via USB Audio Class 2 (for connection to an external DAC). at : http://www.igorpecovnik.com/2014/11/18/olimex-lime-debian-sd-image/ you mention that it does not have audio driver : does this mean that even USB audio cannot be achieved ? If not, any hints on why this is not supported ? Thanks!

Hey, I recently decided to give the 22.11 a try on my M1, but I can't get my sata SSD to be the system root and boot again. 18.04 it worked for me with the exact same setup. I used this: https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Getting-Started/#how-to-install-to-emmc-nand-sata-nvme-usb went with armbian-install only option for me was boot from SD and system on sata. With every upgrade I struggle with a "changed to default" login welcome message and have to do my modifications again. Therefore I would like to explain my changes and hope you can integrate them in the default version...: Your welcome message prints the $BOARD_NAME as ASCII art. Probably you have dozens of boards and can distinguish them in this way. So after login-in you directly see which board it is. I have only one type of "boards" (Cubietruck) and distinguish them by their hostname. So I have to replace "$BOARD_NAME" with "$(hostname -s)" in /etc/update-motd.d/10-header to identify my boards. What do you think about a change in that direction?

Hello, I'm working on a project which include a microcontroller and a NanoPi NEO Core running Armbian FriendlyCore distribution. The NanoPi is wired to the µcontroler ICSP which can reset the µcontroller for update purpose. The allwinner H3 datasheet state that the GPIOA6 (the one linked to ICSP) should start with HIGH-Z and no resistance pulling, it seems to do so but a few second after reboot it seems to go low as all other GPIO... resulting in an unwanting reset of the µcontroller. Is there a way to change this by setting the default state somewhere in the system, or should I have to use dts files or core compilation ? Any solution would be appreciated. …

Hi, I am trying to use the two UARTS on the I/O pins which are UART 1 and UART 2 mapped to PG6/PG7 and PA0/PA1 respectively. I have had a look at the FEX file and these seem to be mapped correctly to UARTS's port 1 & 2 so I would expect these to be mapped to /dev/ttyS1 and /dev/ttyS2 but this does not seem to be the case. If I try to connect to these UARTs using screen I simply get the message: - root@orangepizero:~# screen /dev/ttyS1 9600 [screen is terminating] I have tried searching these forums and Google but have not really found anything - any help or pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated. Hello together, I'm trying to activate composite output on my BananaPRO. First of all, I've added setenv command to my boot.cmd: setenv video-mode sunxi:1024x768-24@60,monitor=composite-pal,hpd=0,edid=0,overscan_x=32,overscan_y=20 then mkimage -C none -A arm -T script -d boot.cmd boot.scr copied boot.scr to sd-card and reboot. In u-boot I see: but my monitor (DELL 2007FP with composite input) and my TV (Panasonic Plasma) are still black. Any ideas? Thanks!

Hello, I have a NanoPi Neo Plus 2 I used to run Ubuntu Core on it but i wanted to switch out as i had less storage space available 4.7gb out of 8 and other issues as it was also out of date. I installed Armbian first on SD then on eMMC but the problem i am facing is that only 479mb of ram is available. Now in the first post on this board by Stanislav Sinyagin on July 18, 2017 it was stated that only 512 mb of ram was available but later on i saw posts of people with the whole 1Gb of ram being used. Due to the limited ram i get compilation problems among other things i am using this board headless as a server. i flashed all versions for download multiple times along with t…

Hello, I'm trying the currently offered Armbian Bookworm images for the Orange Pi Prime, using kernels 6.1.30 and 6.2.16, and notice that there is no support for SoC temperature monitoring, neither in armbianmonitor, nor in /sys/devices/virtual/thermal/. Here is the debug info from 6.2.16: https://paste.armbian.com/cetovulubu Is that a known issue? An older Armbian image that I have downloaded previously, using the kernel 5.15.93, shows the temperature just fine.

Hi. I have made a system with O Pi Lite and Armbian to automate an aquarium from where to control the light, the bubbles and with a webcam I can see the system through the web, everything automated from Cron. From a web page I can turn on and off the lights and bubbles from web buttons. Everything is fine. The problem arises when I want to put some phisical buttons for 3 things: turn off the system, change the state of light and bubbles. I have used a code in Python and the PYA20 library. This is the code. It works very well, but when I start it with the system, the program stop working soon and the buttons stop to work. #!/usr/bin/env python from pyA20.gpio…

I'm using Armbian 23.02 Bullseye CLI. I didn't want the HDMI to show the boot system log and TTY1 login screen. According to the armbian documentation, I changed "console=both" to "console=serial" in /boot/armbianEnv.txt. I checked /boot/boot.cmd related to console, and I confirmed that this modification is OK, but it cannot start, uboot printed "Starting kernel..." After that, there is no output, and the power supply is only 5V 170mA. The following is the printing of the serial port. Hello, I have a cubieboard 2 (the one with only one SD slot) and there is a version of Linaro that is bootable in the NAND memory. I created a card with Debian Jessie Server (the last one) and boot it successfully, but when I run nand-sata-install I get a "No targets available. Please check your drives" pop up. I tried downloading the Debian Wheezy and creating a card and on that one I can see the nand memory blocks, but don't have the script to install and the one that came by default only installs to SATA (not to NAND). Anything I may be doing wrong here??

So I apologise in advance because I'm sure it's probably on this forum but I could not work out the buzzwords to find it. For whatever reason, I upgraded the cubietruck with armbian which has been on since forever and rebooted for the first time this year. On reboot it failed to find /boot and a few other things and kept bootlooping, resetting itself and then following the same procedure. I already had installed the system to my SATA SSD, so this isn't a huge deal. I've flashed the latest armbian release onto the SD card and it boots fine. Now, I see there is an install to sata option in armbian-config but it gives me the warning that it will wipe …

Hello everybody! I would like to make a home media server with my HDD connected to Banana Pi (on SATA). I want to run Torrent client with WebUI, dlna and VPN server thereon. I`m stucked with fstab file configuration. First I tried to format my HDD`s partition to NTFS, every permission was good, but Transmission download, and FSTP file download was incredibly slow (4MB/s, but I have gigabit internet connection). The fstab configuration was this: UUID=<the uuid of the ntfs partition> /mnt/DataHDD ntfs defaults,auto,umask=000,users,rw 0 0 I`ve readed that, ext4 filesystem can be faster, so I decided to format the partition to ext4. After that, I changed…

Can we switch a 64 bit image from downloads section to 32 bit kernel, repos and apps? I want a 32 bit (armhf) build server, but can see 64 bit OS images only. Do I need to build my custom armbian image? Are there command line examples for build script that produces armhf image instead of aarch64? I prefer H6 SoC instead of H3 because H6 is two times faster than H3, but the price of H6-based boards is very similar to H3-based boards. Thanks in advance

Hi, A few weeks ago I downloaded the actual Debian Buster version without desktop. I installed the OS and moved the filesystem to the attached SATA disk. Finally I installed and configured Samba and tested it transferring files form my desktop. Everything worked fine except transferring relatively big files. The files (2 in total) giving problems were a about 3Gb. When transferring a big file the upload seems to stop. The ethernet connection with the BananaPi M1 is completely de-activated. There is only one solution to re-activate as far as I know: remove the power connector and resupply the board. After resupplying the board…

I'm new to cubietruck and linux as well. I used the default build for CT i.e. 3.4.107. The wlan0 was working fine. It was using bcmdhd module for wireless. But I had to move the latest version 4.0.5 for the availabilty of sctp module which was not available in 3.4.107. In 4.0.5, the wireless interface is not being detected and it has brcmfmac for wireless i think. Is there a way to implement the sctp in 3.4.107 or make the wireless work in 4.0.5 ? please advise. best regards, Arun

Hi, I'm tring to solve an issue on my Orange Pi Zero: at boot time the pins PA18 and PA19 are stucked to Vcc. I tried a lot of solution, now the best result is to add at the beginning of the file boot.cmd the command to clear the gpio configuration: gpio clear PA18 gpio clear PA19 and recompile the boot.scr. Despite this the pins goes HIGH for some seconds until the bootloader reach this line. What is the boot scheme? Why i get this pin HIGH? Is it because the I2C1 is configured? Is it possible to disable it? Thanks Simone

On a previous build (and separate board), I have both wlan0 and wlan1 showing up as wireless interfaces on my OrangePi+ board. I have since upgraded the image on a new board, and now I only see wlan0. The software I've written for the board relies on having both wireless interfaces present, however, I'm not sure how to get the other one to show up. I've performed the apt-get update and apt-get upgrade, and then installed the image to EMMC. I've basically got a fresh image, and I'm unsure what I need to do next in order to get the wireless adapters to show up properly. Can someone help me out? Thank you!

Armbianmonitor for 5.4.6: http://ix.io/260C From switching between 4.19.x and 5.4.x kernels I noticed that the lower cpu frequencies got missing. It should start at 120MHz like this: root@horangepione:~# uname -a Linux honeypot2 4.19.84-sunxi #19.11.3 SMP Mon Nov 18 18:39:42 CET 2019 armv7l GNU/Linux root@horangepione:~# cpufreq-info -o minimum CPU frequency - maximum CPU frequency - governor CPU 0 120000 kHz ( 11 %) - 1008000 kHz (100 %) - ondemand CPU 1 120000 kHz ( 11 %) - 1008000 kHz (100 %) - ondemand CPU 2 120000 kHz ( 11 %) - 1008000 kHz (100 %) - ondemand CPU 3 120000 kHz ( 11…

Hello! Is there any way to config the frequency used by the DRAM driver when throttling takes place, or even better, disable the DRAM throttling at all? First of all, I have to say that that I'm pushing my Orange Pi Zero H3 board to run at very hot temperatures due to my CPU throttling settings so I can play some retro arcade games (I know I may burn it). But it seems the DRAM driver has its own throttling settings, and it takes place reducing DRAM frequency to 132Mhz. At such DRAM frequency there is flickering at HDMI output. Hi! Can I install a clean Armbian from within Armbian, without flashing a SD-Card? One idea: After installing Armbian, I used the NAND-SATA-install to copy my files to a harddrive. But on the SD-card there is still the old system. Can I switch back to boot the SD-system? Wittenborg

Hello :), I have updated my system from "Armbian_5.35_Debian_jessie_3.4.113" to latest "Armbian_5.53.180722_Orangepizero_Ubuntu_bionic_next_4.17.9". With jessie there will only S0, S1, S2 displayed and Im Working with S1 (Uart1) and S2 (Uart2) from the 13 Pinheader. With Bionic and also Stretch i got S0, S1, S2, S3, S4, S5, S6, S7 and none of them is working. So how can I access the Uart1 and Uart2 with the new Bionic build?

Yesterday I have installed Armbian to my 3-years-old banana-m1 (previosly ran on bananian 16.04 with 4.4.66 kernel) Tiday I have installed rtorrent and tried to download 44 gb file using rtorrent (with lot of seeders). Few minutes, and I got massive bunch of errors [11583.126199] blk_partition_remap: fail for partition 2 [11583.126314] blk_partition_remap: fail for partition 2 ... [11583.136689] blk_partition_remap: fail for partition 2 and USB drive reconnected in ro mode. Then I remount drive, started torrent again and exactly same issue, USB drive disconnected. Hello, Im trying to get 2 Uarts working on an Orange Pi Zero+2. Im using armbian Buster image for OPiZ+2 Linux orangepizeroplus2-h3 5.4.43-sunxi #20.05.2 SMP Mon Jun 1 18:26:22 CEST 2020 armv7l GNU/Linux I added UART1, UART2 and UART3 to armbianEnv.txt and was able to read / write on ttyS2 on pins 8 (PA00) and 10 (PA01). But couldnt find which pins ttyS1 or ttyS3 are on. I read at that UART 3 should be Tx PA13 Pin 24 Rx PA14 Pin 23 Is anyone able to suggest which pins I can use for a 2nd UART and is there a file I can look in to find the configuration for the UART Overlays ? Thanks Chris …

Hi! I'm trying to use the image Cubietruck_Debian_3.8_jessie_4.0.4.raw with my CubieTruck, but run into problems when trying to use an external LUKS-disk which is encrypted using aes-xts-plain64. 'cryptsetup luksOpen' informs the following: device-mapper: reload ioctl on failed: No such file or directory Failed to setup dm-crypt key mapping for device /dev/disk/by-uuid/<xxxx>. Check that kernel supports aes-xts-plain64 cipher (check syslog for more info). 'cat /proc/crypto | grep name' lists only this, which seems kinda minimal: name : stdrng name : stdrng name : crc32c name : deflate name : ecb(arc4) name …

Hi All, I'll start with I know this is a dev image...... but I would like to see the 4.x kernels working on the Orange Pi Lite, so would like to be able to find out why it's not and help get that resolved in any way I can. I have 2 images, both were built using the compile.sh: Armbian_5.20_Orangepilite_Ubuntu_xenial_3.4.112.img Armbian_5.21_Orangepilite_Ubuntu_xenial_4.7.6.img I dd'd the 3.4.112 kernel image onto a Micro SD, put it in to my Orange Pi Lite and booted it up and confirmed it was working as expected, the green light flashed, the red one also flashed on first boot, then after the reboot I logged in, changed password etc. I then powered off th…

Just flashed Armbian 20.11.9 for NanoPi Neo 2 with kernel 5.10.4. I have run armbian-config to install kernel 5.10.4 source, but there is no any option for 5.10.x kernel sources, I see only options for 5.8.x and 5.9.x.

Hi, I am trying to write my own kernel module/drive for the NanoPi air, running a self-compiled version of armbian 5.83. Actually I only added the PREEMTION option to get real-time behavior when reading/writing from IO pins. I started using the "hello world" template from here. To get the module compiled I had to build the headers for my kernel as well using the option INSTALL_HEADERS in the armbian-build config file. The build debian-package called "linux-headers-next-sunxi_5.83_armhf.deb" was copied and installed on the NanoPi. OK, so now compiling (on the NanoPi - so no cross-compilation) works like a charm: > make make -C /lib/modules/4.…

Hi, I have just received some shiny new NanoPi Neo 2 boards, hardware v 1.1, model 1711 with 1Gb RAM. I have installed Armbian Stretch mainline kernel 4.19.y with no issues at all however I have noticed that the green LED is pretty well ignoring anything I ask of it. ls -la /sys/class/leds/ total 0 drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 0 Jan 25 16:14 . drwxr-xr-x 52 root root 0 Jan 1 1970 .. lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Jan 1 1970 nanopi:green:status -> ../../devices/platform/leds/leds/nanopi:green:status lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Jan 1 1970 nanopi:red:pwr -> ../../devices/platform/leds/leds/nanopi:red:pwr cat /sys/class/leds/…

With the Orange Pi One and the mainline kernel, I can't get it to work optimally when plugged into a gigabit switch. The eth interface on the Pi One is 100Mb/s and it works perfectly when attached to a switch that is 100Mb/s. When attached to a 1000Mb/s switch: [112776.347520] dwmac-sun8i 1c30000.ethernet eth0: Link is Up - 100Mbps/Full - flow control off When attached to a 100Mb/s switch: [112882.431555] dwmac-sun8i 1c30000.ethernet eth0: Link is Up - 100Mbps/Full - flow control rx/tx
