Hi, I installed the desktop focal version of armbian in orange pi pc. It boots correctly but after install lvm2 and restart, it does not boot. If I don't restart the orangepi the lvm volumes works fine, but after reboot or shutdown it not boot. The steps I made: Install on sd with ubuntu (restore image directly). Start the orangepi pc. That's work. sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get upgrade sudo shutdown -r now Here it works and boot correctly: sudo apt-get install lvm2 sudo shutdown -r now Here dont boot the orange pi: The log in serial console is: ***************************************************************** …

Hi, Got OPiPC with legacy and Ubuntu desktop, build 5.33. Gonna attach some external dynamic mic to OPiPC in place of the on-board condenser mic, replacing it. How can we stop the mic bias voltage? Can we do that from Alsa or Pulseaudio? Christos

I have bought 3 OPi Lite 2 (H6 based) dev boards. Just downloaded the latest Bionic image at the following link: https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-lite-2/ I understand it's WIP. However, it seems to have issue on booting up. I connected HDMI cable and upon boot up, I could see init info on the screen, then it says, starting Kernel ... , then screen goes no signal, power LED stays RED forever. I read that the current image seems to have issue on HDMI. But it worked with HDMI upon initial bootup, then stopped working. My problem is that without HDMI, how could I edit the WIFI config to have the board connected to my network thus to SSH into the board for fu…

Hi, I've not much experience on linux, so I want to ask some questions I don't find enough or helpful information getting an overview how things work. Not really an concrete question. My goal is to run an 10.1 LVDS Display with silent boot and CAN-Bus on an BananaPi Pro. The SoC Allwinner A20 seems to support this, the board has an connector for this kind of Display. After flashing an SD with the image for BananaPi Pro and successfully booting from it, I read the Armbian Documentation. But I don't getting an overview, how the boot and configuration of u-Boot works. After "googleing" I understand the boot-process like this: Armbia…

I have an Orange Pi PC with the Allwinner H3 processor running the latest 5.20 version of Armbian. I am unable to successfully connect to a Wireless access point because as soon as the status of connection is "Obtaining IP address" the Orange Pi PC crashes and reboots. I have tried this with both a reputable Edimax wifi dongle and a cheapy wifi dongle with the same results. I can have them plugged in and the OPi and it will run fine but as soon as I try to connect to a wireless network, it crashes. I have the OPi PC connected to a variable power supply capable of 3A and it isn't getting anywhere near that. So my 5V isn't a problem. I have updated and upg…

I am running Armbian Bionic with Linux Linux 5.4.45-sunxi on an OrangePi PC Plus board. It is running HomeAssistant and a small NodeJS service. Everything is working great, however recently some random shutdowns started. I started investigating and here are my findings: I was unable to SSH or ping the device (it is connected via WIFI) so I connected to the serial pins, but that didn't work either until manual reboot. /var/log/syslog file starts with Aug 12 13:17:04 localhost kernel: [ 0.000000] Booting Linux on physical CPU 0x0 so it looks like the log from before the shutdown disappeared. last -x command only returns: ogrevan…

Hello, I have owned the Orange Pi PC for quite a while now, but I have been unable to solve a problem. The problem is that I can never quite manage to get the GPU drivers to work perfectly. They will often crash when using certain software like Chromium. Here is what I have tried doing so far: - Build and install the helper modules (libdri2,libump) - Installing the sunxi-mali driver - Building the video driver (xf86-video-fbturbo) - Build glshim -- Doing the following does not seem to have an effect on glxgears -- - Update arm-linux-gnueabihf configuration <-- Doing this breaks certain applications and gam…

hallo, i downloaded debian jessy image with kernel 4.0.5 from there: http://mirror.igorpecovnik.com/Lamobo-r1_Debian_3.1_jessie_4.0.5.zipand installed it on bananapi. at first boot seems to be system self-autoconfigured and reboots. Now i see that /etc/network/interfaces is linked with interfaces.r1 and in /boot i found those files: config-4.0.5-lamobo-r1, System.map-4.0.5-lamobo-r1, vmlinuz-4.0.5-lamobo-r1. can it be that autoconfiguration has my bpi as router configured. How can i fix that manualy? nex question: on the boot i see one pinguine, but while bpi has 2 cores it shoul be 2 pinguins or not ? best regards Marijus

Hello Maybe it will help someone. I lost a lot of time trying to connect 1-wire to Cubieboard2 via DVK 522 (it has DS18B20 connection on PB10 /gpio 66/ with external pullup). I've done steps in http://linux-sunxi.org/1-Wire with different combination and it doesn't work. In /sys/bus/w1/devices i had only sth like 00-80... 00-40... 00-c00.. without w1_slave file (i was 100% sure of hardware - it works on waveshare debian image) SOLUTION: In /boot/armbianEnv.txt lines needs to be without comments: and that's it ( overlays are created automatically by config so it will be sth like for…

Hi, i have a problem with my two Orange Pi Zero´s The Orange Pi Zero´s are installed with the latest Armbian_5.59_Orangepizero_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.4.113 Both Opis are only connected to 5V2A over the microUSB Port and the LAN Port (not WLAN) and use a recommended Sandisk 16GB microSD Card. Both Pi´s are not reachable over SSH maybe 15 Minutes after boot. Direct after the boot SSH is working. Other Services like ping and the installed snmp deamon are working pretty well. Only SSH access stops working after maybe 15 Minutes. There is nothing connected to the OPIS. Is there a known problem with SSH deamon? Greets and thx for help …

I've just asked this question on the UNIX StackExchange - but I am hoping that the Armbian wizards may have a better idea on what is happening. The setup: - Machine 1 is an Arch Linux laptop, on which `ssh` is spawned, connecting to an Armbian-running SBC (an Orange PI Zero). - The SBC itself is connected via Ethernet to a DSL router, and has an IP of 192.168.1.150 - The laptop is connected to the router over WiFi. - There's also another laptop (Machine 2) connected via Ethernet to the DSL router. When benchmarked with `iperf3`, the link between the laptop and the SBC is less than the theoretical 56 MBits/sec - as expected, since …

Hello ! I have a pcduino 3 with 4gb nand memory. I tried to install armbian server 5.25 with Kernel Legacy 3.4.113. The SDcard boot works well but when i try to boot from nand just after nand-sata-install, nothing happens. I tried to install LXDE 14 nand from official pcduino repositories and boot works so the memrory is not corrupted. Thanks in advance ! Guillaume UPDATE : I found this solution to my problem. A board (nanopi neo) collects some information and stores it to SD card. Users than change the SD card and open it on PC (windows). Due windows limitation, there is only one (first) partition (fat/ntfs) can be visible. Current mainline image for nanopi neo contains only one ext4 partition, so I tried to gparted it (moved first partition and made new FAT16 one), but for some reason, the image did not boot. So I'm looking for info, how to make two partitions properly.

I've updated all Armbian packages on my Ubuntu 24.04 system running on the Cubietruck a few days ago, updating the release to Armbian 25.2.3 with kernel linux-image-current-sunxi (i.e. I'm using the current flavor of the system). This got me the current kernel version 6.6.75. Unfortunately, since that I couldn't get the system to boot anymore, because it immediately throws a kernel panic on boot. The HDMI output doesn't show anything, so I had to attach a serial console to see what's going on. I've already followed the Recovery guide, extracting again all .deb packages and reinstalling u-boot on the SD card, and even compared the contents of /boot with t…

Hello, I've just switched from bananian to armbian (as many others here as I've seen), and successfully finished migrating everything. I use the Banana as a little home server, NAS, sane/cups printer sharer and home cloud. I want to use docker on it, but I'm finding some difficulties to make it run. I'm currently on 4.9.12-sunxi. I've tried installing docker from the ubuntu repo but it doesn't seem to work. I've seen some topics about building a custom kernel for this, is this necessary? Did someone managed to make docker run? Thanks.

I'm wondering if anyone has had any luck using spi-gpio to bitbang SPI on the H5... @martinayotte, I found a forum thread from a few years ago where you seemed to be looking at this area - perhaps you have an idea? Doing a typical spi-gpio DT overlay for this properly loads the spi-gpio and spi-bitbang drivers, creates /dev/spidev0.0, and allocates the gpios (verified via gpiod)...but the first problem I see is that the CS line is simply not working (cs-gpios below)...? /dts-v1/; /plugin/; / { fragment@0 { target-path = "/"; __overlay__ { spi { compatible = "s…

Hi, with the Cubieboard 1 there's a bug with the kernel inotify's option. The problem is that Minidlna uses this feature in order to update its dabatase, but since on Cubie it doesn't work, I've tried both ArchLinux Arm and Armbian, i can't have an updated db. Do you know if there's any solution in order to fix this issue? Maybe trying another kernel, different from the default linux-sunxi? Thanks for your time! Marco

Hi, I have a problem to comunicate with sim800l via UART3 or any other UART. Is there way to activate UART3 on Linux PiOne 4.14.18-sunxi kernel if it is not already activated. I could find DTB files but I do not know how to view them or transfer to DTS and read/modify them to se if there could be a problem. I'm using pins 8 and 10 for UART3 on 40Pin header and try to comunicate with putty and screen over /dev/ttyS3 but no luck. Any idea what is going on? Sim800L works fine over pl2303.

Hi guys, I am very sorry to bother you, I tried everything I could to make this work but unfortunately, I can't figure it out. So here I am asking for help ! The pcduino discussions appear to be centred here and the A10 appears to be a cutdown A20 so please forgive me if this is in the wrong area. I've been playing with an old pcduino2 and have got the latest mainline server version of Armbian installed on it. Very impressive. However, it appears to have only a single I2C bus and no SPI devices. It looks like there should be a sun4i-a10-spi-spidev.dts file somewhere or else some way to build the appropriate kernel modules but I have been unable to find this. I understand that this is a deprecated board but I should (hopefully) be able to perform any kernel builds required and am more than happy to feed the resul…

We flash hundreds of Orange PI 3 LTS boards with stock Armbian Debian Bullseye via nand-sata-install to install it on the onboard eMMC storage. Greetings, I've been building an image for a banana pi m2-zero. I noticed during the build that the following DTS is chosen: sun8i-h3-orangepi-zero-plus2.dt There is a sun8i-h2-plus-bananapi-m2-zero.dts in the same directory, that I think would be more relevant. How can I choose this DTS instead?

The sytem acted a bit wierd, so I rebooted it. Since the moment, the server did not launch, rebooting itself again and again. I edited boot script to get more informations, and this is the moment, where the sytem gets stucked before it reboots (I have panic set to 180, so this screen is visible for around 3 mins). Banana pi M1 armbian 5.14 installed on SDcard and HDD This is not PSU error, since other distros are running smoothly. This is not SDcard error, since I dded this SDcard to another and tested it.

Hi I trying to return in work OPi+2e board but faced some odd thing. When I trying to boot Armbian I getting temperatures about 180C which leads to shutdown during booting. It reproduceable with all versions from hirsute/5.12.15 back to oldest avaliable bionic/5.4.8 Official Ubuntu xenial/5.3.5 works fine, but /sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp gives negative readings (like about -76500) Installed on eMMC old RetrOrangePi which is Armbian jessie/3.4.113 also works but gives zero (exactly 0) temp reading. Finger test gives "room temperature" reading and "warm" while old OS works. Definetly not 180C Board itself is from 2017, worked a…

I have a new OPIz running ARMBIAN 5.70 stable Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie) 3.4.113-sun8i with Pihole version 4.1 (latest). The Opi is connected only with eth0 with a static IP address. Its running a 32G sandisk Ultra (class 10) with a verified image using Etcher. The CPU is running at around 59c. It's unusable because the OPi keeps losing connectivity. Usually about every 12-24 hours but more frequently at times (sometimes two or three times an hour). So no ping, no ssh, no telnet. Ive implemented some scripts on the OPi to try and track down what's happening. But the first thing I notice is syslog gets cleared and/or has large gaps in it. …

I tried the 3.4.112 on Pi One and 3.4.113 on Pi Zero. Both have the same problem which is that no unicast packets are flowing into the macvlan device when I run tcpdump on it. The device was created like this: ip link add link eth0 address 1E:74:C0:DC:BB:01 vlan mtu 1500 type macvlan I can see inbound broadcast and multicast packets though. Outbound packets also seem fine. I can see arp request and ICMP request (if set static arp entry on PI) from the other end. Does anybody have any clue what it could it?

My Armbian paste is at https://paste.armbian.com/yamakinoce This is an OrangePi Zero Plus, with an H3, not an H5 or an H2. I see all kinds of problems here but don't know how to fix them. It seems the DTB is just wrong for this board. For one, there are interrupts showing up in /proc/interrupts for HDMI and LCD, but this physical board has *neither* of those. It has an Ethernet PHY but neither the kernel nor uboot see it. It also has a Wifi but the kernel does not see that either. Does a correct DTB exist for this board? What is its name? I vaguely remember a couple ways to force the kernel and uboot to use a different DTB …

My cubietruck mac address which I am assuming is auto generated is invalid. Though one would think it should work, other software on routers will not accept the mac as valid, and thus I can not add configurations to it. We probably need a layer somewhere to create 'valid' mac addresses. 02:C2:07:C0:B7:C7 is the generated mac that my cubietruck is currently using which software claims is invalid.

Hi there, I was expecting /etc/machine-id to be unique for every install, but it is static which was very unexpected (I use it as the basis of machine-specific identifier which should have been globally unique). fixing it up was easy enough: rm -f /etc/machine-id rm -f /var/lib/dbus/machine-id dbus-uuidgen --ensure systemd-machine-id-setup Shouldn't this be done when the root fs is being resized on the first boot?

First of all I have to mention, that my knowledge of linux is very small. I started with raspberry about two years ago and switched to cubietruck. First I didn't use Igor's image, because I wanted to have a graphical front end. After getting used to putty and ftp I swithed to Igor's image - it was very convenient, small and fast. So I also bought a banana, when Igor published an image for it, and a cubox i Pro. All of those images worked out-of-the-box - it was a pleasure to work with it, especially for a noob. In the meanwhile I switched to RasPi2 for a while, but yesterday I wanted to start again with the other ones. So I downloaded the latest images. But big s…

Banana Pi (original "model 1") A20 Was running flawlessly on Xenial - latest updates - almost everything worked (I run it on a LiPo battery to transport back and forth from work to keep my Resilio Sync data "in sync") Resilio seems to work fine - except in Bionic I can't use avahi to resolve names on my LAN... this worked in Xenial on the same hardware. Hi there, I'm trying to set up AP + STA on wlan0 using Orange Pi Zero 2W and Orange Pi Zero 3 with the Armbian image. I managed to do this on a Raspberry Pi Zero W. I encountered a problem: when creating a virtual access point, the process hangs and cannot be killed. I use the command: sudo iw phy phy0 interface add ap0 type __ap. For testing, I added an external USB Wi-Fi module to the Orange Pi Zero 3 and managed to create a virtual access point on it without any problems or hangs, so this problem only occurs …

Hello! I use OS armbian (2.9) on cubietruck board. I decided to upgrade to version 5.31 and have problems. Previously, parameters of hardware and interfaces SoC chip changed in the script.bin file. Hi All, @tkaiser mentions in this thread http://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/1193-orange-pi-plus-2e-now-available/ the lima-memtester utility, requesting tests for the Orange Pi Plus 2E. Unfortunately I do not have a Orange Pi Plus 2E, I have however just received 10x Orange Pi Lite's and 2x Orange Pi PC+'s. Would it be useful to the project if I run this utility on all / some of my devices? Assuming yes and noting the comment: Do I need to run a desktop image with the HDMI plugged into a monitor? Also do I need provide some extra information to uniquely identify each board or will this happen automatically? Dave.
