Hello, I have following issue with HDMI resolution 1024x768. As soon as kernel starts loading, little light-green box 6x4px appears at the bottom-left corner of the screen and never goes away. The box always stays on top of everything including mouse pointer and vdpau-accelerated video, not visible on screenshots. Also HDMI sound is full of clicks in this resolution only. Other resolutions are ok. Seems that there is no problem with DVI 1024x768 (entire screen is greenish when connected by HDMI but i see that mouse pointer is visible in that area). First seen this on TV 42PC1RR which has native resolution 1024x768, also reproduced…

Hi, I'm facing a problem with my Orange Pi Zero with the latest Armbian version. I noticed that when I provide an internet connection type that is not valid (wrong psk, ethernet but no cable plugged in, etc.) and I reboot the system, it hangs just before asking the username and password. Sometimes it takes up to 10 minutes before keeping going. These are the last boot logs that I see: [ 11.209226] systemd[1]: Starting Create list of static device nodes for the current kernel... [ 11.219428] systemd[1]: Condition check resulted in Load Kernel Module drm being skipped. [ 11.244988] systemd[1]: Started Nameserver information m…

Never had a problem with Armbian on my board. After last full upgrade (linux-image-next-sunxi 5.27.170427 etc) system is not booting. I tried with a fresh SD card (image Armbian_5.25_Cubieboard_Debian_jessie_next_4.9.7) - it's booting fine afresh, but also doesn't boot after full upgrade. Below are logs for both cases. I know, using an old Banana Pi M1 for desktop doesn't make sense at all. I would prefer having help or/and advice clearing the problems I've encountered, instead a discussion why I'm testing a desktop environment on a BPi M1. Tested with Armbian 21.08.01 Buster / 5.10.60 After the initial boot nano or / and armbian-config doesn't work. A reboot solves this issue. After the second boot I changed verbosity to 7 and console to serial. All other changes where made throu armbian-config. Changing Pi's name works, but changing console's layout doesn't. Never mind, that is a minor problem, which can easily solved by hand. So I did "firmware upgrade" and rebooted m…

I have a non compliant usb device that I want to work with my Orange Pi Lite board. I know how to make it work under Arch linux. For that I need to edit source for the usb generic hid driver (kernel/drivers/hid/hid-core.c), recompile the usb kernel module and reinstall it to intramfs (mkinitcpio -p linux). To recompile kernel module I followed this guide: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Compile_kernel_module What procedure do I need to follow under Armbian? One way is to set up a development environment on a PC, with Virtual Box running Ubuntu Xenial, etc. Recompile the whole armbian and copy the compiled kernel module over to Orange Pi Lite. But it take…

Hi all! First time poster, i apologize in advance for any etiquette violations... I have an OrangePi Zero H2+ board and the DS18B20 sensor (waterproof version). I have soldered the pullup resistor between power and data cables. I have Armbian Stretch 5.83 with 4.19.38-sunxi kernel. I have enabled the w1-gpio overlay and loaded the w1-therm driver. Data is on PD14 (GPIO 10), power is on 5v (tried also on 3.3v) I can see this in my dmesg: [ 10.371825] w1_master_driver w1_bus_master1: w1_search: max_slave_count 64 reached, will continue next search. Hello Armbian-Folks, more than two years ago I purchased a CubieTruck and installed Cubian with kernel 3.4.79 on the microSD. The system is running since then and serving as airprint server, boinc client and monitoring device for my internet connection. Basically I use it more or less as a headless server. Now I would like to have this system more future ready and looking for an upgrade path. The kernel is quite old and the distro is based still on debian wheezy. Also Cubian is dead and not maintained anymore. Are you able to help or provide some good starting tipps to upgrade my system to new kernel and maybe armbian (debian jessy) as distro? I was search…

Hi, First, i'am french, excuse my bad english... I have a problem with my orangepi zero using a bme280 weather sensor with i2c. (I have 2 sensors) After long search and try, i've found the way to make this sensor working with the orange pi zero, by reading the datasheet where it's indicated that you must put CSB to Vdd to select i2c interface. !!! - I never wired this pin to my rapsberry pi and it always work , never see in any tuto too!!! Th problem is that I don't read good values, it seem that the values are always the same, based on calibration . I try to figure out what happen but i'm not so friendly with i2c pro…

Hi, Need to have a point to point ethernet network without any router or dhcp server in between two OPiPC running legacy and Ubuntu desktop. Currently, when I connect a ethernet cable between them, they get valid IPs (IPv4LL) after 5 minutes so that might be the dhcp timeout today (300sec?). Tried to see where this value is in order to get it lower, so to have faster their valid IPs and start working, but could not find it in Armbian, any hints on where to look for that timeout value?

Where can I check out the linux kernel source code for Debian Wheezy 4.4.3 (/usr/src/linux, nothing more nothing less). The reason is that I had a Gentoo system running on Cubieboard 20 with an outdated kernel, and my attempt to build a new kernel was unsuccessful. But copying kernel and modules from Debian Wheezy 4.4.3 was really successful. And I have completely rebuilt the whole Gentoo userland using the Debian Wheezy 4.4.3 kernel. Now I want to re-generate a new 4.4.3 (or newer) kernel using Gentoo genkernel command. For that I only need linux source code. I suspect that the source codes from kernel.org need special patches.

Hello list, a big thank you to all the developers of Armbian. I am a newbie to arm boards, have limited experience with various linuxes and definitely not enough know-how to progam anything or to compile kernels or build images, and things like u-boots are warships for me. Without your great software images my cubietruck would probably have been an investment into electronic scrap! A short user-feedback: Why does a normal consumer want to use a cubieboard? To use my favorite .mp3-player attached via SPDIF to his stereo equipment, play music from a harddisk and control it via VNC-Client from a tablet (because I don't want to use an 80 W TV to contro…

As tkaiser would say, Lamobo-r1 has terrible design but the concept is good (multiple usage possible: network, misc services) But let's be honest, perfection is when you are dead. Like sleeping & coffee some weeks ago, I was wondering (right or wrong) if a DMA config for the lamobo-r1 GMAC would help the bandwidth issues. One CPU core is 100% with all the gazillions of interruptions to handle. Now the DMA for A20 is in the mainline kernel but I am missing some tech glue. I have read an example in the kernel 4.3 doc with DMA config (DTS) for DWMAC (*if* applicable, not only for STMMAC, but also for A20-GMAC ???) links: stmmac kernel 4.3 documentation d…

Hi, i'm working on a hdmi cec driver for H3 and i'm looking for some feedback how the driver works. I have tested the driver with OrangePi PC and a Samsung TV. I have pushed my driver to github : https://github.com/jodamm/linux/tree/sun8i or here is a patch file that can be placed in userpatches for armbian toolchain. The driver can be loaded with modprobe hdmi_cec . I have modified libcec to work with this driver : https://github.com/jodamm/libcec or again a patch file for libcec.

Hi, I have installed armbian 5.23 on an olimex A10 lime. After boot I find that the i2c devices on the UEXT interface do not show in /dev. They should be /dev/i2c-2 and /dev/i2c-3 and should be detectable using i2cdetect -y 2 (or 3). I notice that the package linux-jessie-root-lime-a10_5.23_armhf.deb ships the .bin (fex) files that configure the ports on boot. The file /boot/bin/lime-a10.bin and /boot/bin/lime-a10-lcd.bin have definitions for these ports but they are disabled. So for now I make a new .bin file with these ports enabled. Specifically I had to change the file like this (I made a new copy so that apt-get upgrade would not clobber my changes)…

Greetings, Some time ago, I built armbian with kernel 5.4.51. I applied a patch to two dts files that allowed for the OV5640 camera to work. By "work", I mean /dev/video0 was present in the system and /dev/media0 was also present. I could set camera parameters with media-ctl pointing to /dev/media0. Now, I've updated, and using a legacy kernel, 5.4.65, I cannot reproduce this. I've applied the same dts changes, but upon booting this image /dev/media0 is missing. I've compared the two kernel configurations, and there are very minimal differences: # diff config-5.4.51-sunxi /boot/config-5.4.65-sunxi 3c3 < # Linux/arm 5.4…

Hi All, I'm using Armbian_5.10_Micro_Debian_jessie_3.4.112 on a custom A20 board with NAND based off the Olimex A20 Micro. 1-Wire works, I put the explanation at the end of this post. Hello There, yesterday I burned a fresh image of Armbian_20.02.5_Bananapi_buster_current_5.4.26 to replace my current setup (Armbian_5.91_Bananapi_Debian_buster_next_4.19.59) and I run into some trouble with 1-Wire. I tried everything I knew and found on the web but 1-Wire still won't work. So I need some help. My hardware setup was not changed and it worked for at least two years. So would rule out a wiring problem at the moment. My SoC is a Banana PI M1 ( http://www.banana-pi.org/m1.html ) The strange thing is, that 1-Wire wont come up by itself, I have to run mo…

are the 1-wire modules built into legacy kernel ( 3.4.xx ) with debian jesse on an Olimex A20 LIME2 ( also the -SOM-4GB ) ? After some months not using my OrangePi One, yesterday I installed Armbian 5.90 buster 4.19.57 (previously I had a stretch release). I did a clean install, downloading the image and burning the microSD with it. I noticed the button now works for 1st time since I bought the OrangePi One. It shuts down the device, no need to install or configure nothing. But, previous Armbian versions I had, were able to set the machine CPU speed at 1.2 and 1.1 GHz. Now (with Armbian 5.90) the maximum is 1 GHz. On previous releases, the file /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/policy0/scaling_available_frequencies contained: 240000 480000 648000 816000 912000 9…

I'm thinking of getting a 128GB microSDXC card (Samsung EVO) for my Cubietruck. Is this likely to work or is 64GB a hard limit? Of course, I intend to put a sane filesystem on it, like ext4.

Hi Everyone. I intend to use this sbc with a hdmi to lcd controller (not yet arrived). I noticed the predefined resolutions do not include 1366x768. I tested on a smart tv and I with the closest resolution of 1360x768, there was a vertical purple line on the left. I could probably live with the slightly lower resolution, however if the purple line appears on my final setup, how do I remove this or is there anyway to run the full 1366x768? I have tried 1280x720 in windows and it blurs the text so that seems to be out of the questions for me. Regards, Rauli

Hello, I am trying to use BPI with legacy Armbian and Stella emulator with 16:10 monitor (using HDMI-DVI cable) I just dont know how to set proper 16:10 resolution. The resolution I set in armbian-config is 1680x1050, but it is different from resolution that Stella uses, when I launch it on the startup. It uses the resolution defined in FEX. So I checked https://linux-sunxi.org/Fex_Guide#disp_init_configuration and tried various resolutions, but dont know which of them is 16:10 and what is the exact resolution. For example 576p can mean anything. How can I find it out? Thank you very much.

Hi. Is it missing from the kernel or am I the one missing something?

Hi there, this is continuation of my previous thread about problems with my OPiPC+. 1). "OOB" Armbian Buster, looks working OK, not "ported" all soft / configs from another one. 2). Armbian Jessie upgraded up to Buster, mainly for mosquitto, OpenHAB2, PostgreSQL 11 (for logical replication). Now I have copied everything (only different UUIDS) from working /boot directory to the one with problems. (kernel, initrd, etc). What I do not understand, is fact, that on "good" HTOP shows 4 cores, on "bad" one only 1 core, performance is horrible (OpenHAB startup in minutes). OpenHab (I suspect) can cause whole system to hang - ping works but no…

The page for the Banana Pi image says: "Known bugs or limitations Latest 3.4.107 image have some stability issues. Build from sources or wait for update." I have some questions about this: - What kind of stability issues should I expect? I am seeing some network problems currently, however a lot of hardware in my network was replaced recently so I'm not sure if the banana pi is the source of these problems. The banana pi never locks up/show kernel oops/etc. - How would building from source help? I would expect to get the same image with the same problems. - When can I expect a new image to be available? Is it enough to download an old kernel from the archive? Or is t…

//Update2: is there anyone have sunxi_cedar_mod.ko module for 3.4.107 kernel? //Update1: I've changed and recompiled script.bin file and now screen turn on, great! Hi, I tried 3.4.107 wheezy on my Micro with HDMI screen. It show some image and message at boot, and then there's no signal to display. I also tried to change display resolution in "boot.scr" file, and tried "a10disp changehdmimodeforce 4" command, and ssh terminal show: sunxi disp kernel module version is 1.0 Cannot change HDMI mode because HDMI is not enabled.

Can we switch a 64 bit image from downloads section to 32 bit kernel, repos and apps? I want a 32 bit (armhf) build server, but can see 64 bit OS images only. Do I need to build my custom armbian image? Are there command line examples for build script that produces armhf image instead of aarch64? I prefer H6 SoC instead of H3 because H6 is two times faster than H3, but the price of H6-based boards is very similar to H3-based boards. Thanks in advance

I have a 3TB drive attached via SATA, with independent PSU. Despite my best efforts I cannot get it to be recognized as anything more than 801GB/746GiB. This drive works in another machine fine. I tried a low-level wipe (dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda bs=1M), as well as creating new GPT partition tables. hdparm -I does correctly report info, but `cat /sys/class/block/sda/queue/physical_block_size` reports block size at 512. Hi, what are currently the options of controlling 433Mhz sender/receiver devices from an orange Pi zero 3? Currently the gpios are no longer exposed via sysfs but you could re-enable that feature by compiling a new kernel with the proper configuration. Then wiringpi would work again and you could use 433Utils. But what would be the options without compiling a new kernel? What 433Mhz library exists that uses the new way of controlling the gpios? I am a bit confused about the current state of affairs, please enlighten me...

I'm using a NanoPi Neo as Homegear gateway. This requires the SPI interface (/dev/spidev0.0). Yesterday I ran apt-get upgrade, which bumped my kernel from 5.10.60 to 5.15.25. No other changes have been done, Since then no SPI devices are created anymore and the gateway fails! I tried to downgrade the kernel already using armbian-config to 21.08 5.10.60-sunxi. But that reported an error (do not remember the text; was very late) and left the Nano unbootable. I could restore the 5.15.25 kernel by manually editing the zImage symbolic link in /boot. Using param_spidev_spi_bus=1 instead of 0 does not help. …

Hi All! Legacy kernel says: "Enabled audio devices: analog, 8 channel HDMI, spdif and I2S (if wired and enabled in HW configuration)" But there is no multi channel device listed in aplay -L , like surround51, surround71, etc. With "speaker-test -D default:sunxisndhdmi -c 6 -t wav", We got a downmixed stereo result. Receiver device is a BEM-182 Broadcast Monitor on its HDMI input - only 2 VU-meter band appears. Other test setup is the same receiver in SDI input mode with an HDMI to SDI converter. Specs of this adapter declares that it supports 8 channel, and this time 8 VU-meter band appears on the monitor so device is ready to receive multi-channel audio, but…

Hi, I have been working on this problem for a few days. I have a orangepi plus2e and orange pi 5'' lcd. When I make all the connections and give power to the orangepi, I can not see anything on the LCD. At first only a white light comes out. Later on, I looked at the 5 inch screen produced by OrangePi with 640x480 resolution and the LCD settings on the H3 boards. I tried to set the resolution with the h3disp command, but I did not see the proper resolution. I did these on a different computer screen, and when I changed the resolution, nothing appeared on this screen.

After finally compiling the github 8188cu-fixed, blacklisting the old driver, I'm left with an interface name starting with lx and continuing with the mac address. I really need it to just say wlan1, so that I can use this sd-image for multiple orangepi-lite boards. Each usb wifi stick I plug in comes up with a different MAC address, hence the interface name changes accordingly. Example: One stick may have a MAC address 00-b6-56-0a-34-b2, and the interface ends up being called lx00b6560a34b2 I've had a look at the leading Ubuntu Xenial solutions, so far none of them work, mainly they use a grub based solution. Hope someone can help.

Hello, My project for Orange Pi Lite will be used in a car. To make the installation easy for everyone I would like to supply it from car lighter socket. Of course, this solution is not perfect (frequent insert/pull the plug by the user, current decays etc.). I mean problems with switching off without shutdown. I also mean how uSD will stand it. For now, I thing to attach an 18650 cell with booster/charger which will work as a "buffer" to keep current when the lighter socket is off. But I am afraid that it can keep power only for 1-2 hour. Is there a possibility to check the power level of the connected cell and shut down the system when the power is low? P…

I just want to post a thank you to the developers and contributors who have built one NICE distribution. Over a year ago I bought a few OPi PC as a possible replacement for Raspberry Pi based HAM radio projects I support. As we know, the PCIe on H6 is buggy, which doesn't offer linear address, and Linux cannot support such kind of configuration. However, the Cortex-A53 cores used by H6 supports virtualization, which can be used to change the order of the address space. Recently, I tried to make use of virtualization to provide linear mapping of PCIe, and I succeed in making an Intel 6205 wireless card working. The hypervisor code is at https://github.com/Icenowy/aw-el2-barebone . It's intended to start before U-Boot, and located at 0x40010000. A U-Boot fork that is patched to load the hypervisor is at https://github.com/Icenowy/u-boot/tree/h6…

Armbian SO, kernel 4.13 Firstly i configure the digital pin and IRQ from user space: echo 243 > /sys/class/gpio/export echo "in" > /sys/class/gpio/gpio243/direction echo "falling" > /sys/class/gpio/gpio243/edge Now, when I push the button, I can monitoring the IRQ and the counter related to cat /proc/interrupts But now, how can I run a program when the interruption event happens ? I have seen this u…

After i've upgraded to 5.00, and upgraded the legacy kernel to vanilla (mostly for hardware crypto), i've noticed strange errors: blocky video play from dlna, and from samba too. So i did some test, copied few files on my cubieboard2, and compared the sha hashes of both version, and sometimes the cb2 version is changed, sometimes not. Also i see that a lot of synced files became different on cb2. Is there a way to do some in memory tests to verify how the hw crpyto works? For example random numbers -> hw encrypt -> decrypt -> check if still the same. These test i've made: -as i'm using the encrypted HDD as a backup storage too, i've compared the sour…

Hi folks, I am trying for couple of days now to put Lime1 to sleep and then wake it up, both by software and user interaction. Problem description: I am able to put board to sleep with any of the following commands: rtcwake -m standby -s 10 echo "standby" > /sys/power/state When device is on battery I can see it consuming ~0.7A while it works normally and once i execute one of the above commands it drops down to about ~0.25A leading me to conclusion that device has indeed in sleep. Here is how I ran rtcwake to make sure RTC clock is up and running: root@lime:/etc/systemd/system# hwclock -w root@lime:/etc/systemd/system# hwclock M…

I am currently trying to upgrade my kernel from 3.4 to 4.14 and it is working quite well for my needs. But i have a problem i have not found a solution for, i can not set the PE00-11 pins as gpios. Acutally i cant set or configure them at all. I am using the /sys/class... export and writing via echo direction and value. For all other GPIOs it works perfectly fine exept for those 12 (and the IR0-pins PB3 and PB4, those are also not accessible). I tried really a lot already: stripping down the kernel to only the most essential modules, deactivating almost everything in the dts file, using different images... but in essence, as soon as i c…

I'm using Armbian 5.38 stable Debian stretch 4.14.14-sunxi on A20 Lime2. I try to use PGxx pins (connector GPIO-1 on board), without any luck. I know i must use formula (position of letter in alphabet - 1) * 32 + pin number, so i have tried (for PG11): echo 203 > /sys/class/gpio/export echo out > /sys/class/gpio/gpio203/direction echo 1 > /sys/class/gpio/203/value but nothing happened. I tried from 192 to 203 (PG00 to PG11), but nothing happened. On the same connector (GPIO-1), PC23, PC18 and PB23 work perfectly. What am i doing wrong?

Hi, I yesterday built a new image for my A20-OLinuXino-MICRO board (Armbian 5.17 Jessie with kernel 4.7.3) At first boot, everything worked fine. I could manage to connect through SSH and changed root password and add new user. However, avec adding a Hard Disk (on the SATA connector) and reboot, I could not manage to connect via SSH So I tried the serial (UART) connector. After some tries and a non responding console (I could see no kernel messages at boot to I had to change the verbosity), I finally succeeded in booting with a console prompt on serial connector. But... The keyboard is not responding on that serial connector. After a few tries,…

Hi, I am using A20 Micro Olinuxino card. I have problems with legacy built (Ubuntu 3.4.110). I also tried the other built Vanilla (Ubuntu 4.4.1). The second one is successfully booted. However the first one, although I have tried several SD cards, did not continue after loading the kernel. The monitor shows a noisy image and stop working. I couldn't connect to it with SSH either. So the problem is not only with the HDMI connection or Xorg. Somehow kernel stops booting. The reason I want to use the older kernel is because it has NAND Flash support and video HW acceleration support (as stated in armbian.com). Please point me to right direction. Regards.

Hi Everyone, Is there anything additional required to enable better performance improvements (kernel patch for TXTS and RXTS are set to 3 each see below link) on a Banana PI running Armbian V21 / V22 ? I have updated the bootloader, and OS, and the performance is still abysmally poor. Mechanical or SSD drive connected to on board SATA yields a whopping 2.7-10 MB/sec write speed using dd with a large block size, or with the iozone tool ~5 upto ~45 for larger block sizes. Still a very far cry from the ~120 after the kernel patch applied in ~2019 => https://forum.armbian.com/topic/10352-a20-sata-write-speed-improvement/ …

Hello dear mates, first I want to thank zador.blood.stained for helping out with recompiling the DTB for A20 so we can enable PWM on Armbian. Link to his post :https://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/1817-using-pwm-without-rebuilding-kernel/ Now I'm seeking your help with this problem, after I added this code to the A20.dts file (I'm on a PCduino3 nano) &pwm { pinctrl-names = "default"; pinctrl-0 = <&pwm0_pins_a>, <&pwm1_pins_a>; status = "okay"; }; I'm able to compile the .dtb file, and after booting I can see the pwmchip0 on /sys/class/pwm. I can change the values for Polarity, Period, Duty_Cycle, Enable. The problem is, when I…

Hello, I’ve just tried to boot the theoretically universal Armbian_5.72.1_Olinuxino-a20_Debian_stretch_next_4.19.17 image (taken from ftp://staging.olimex.com/Allwinner_Images/A20-OLinuXino/1.latest_mainline_images/stretch/images/) on my A20-SOM device, but with no success. The following output is displayed: **File not found /boot/dtb/ ** libfdt fdt_check_header(): FDT_ERR_BADMAGIC No FDT memory address configured. Please configure the FDT address via “fdt addr ” command.
