  1. I configured the on board wifi access point on my Orange Pi Lite, (WPA / WPA2 encrypted, hostapd, dnsmasq). Everything was fine. I could power the board, connect to its wi-fi and ssh into it. Just a day ago I connected to the board with ssh, just to test that it was working and closed the connection immediately. So I know that it should be working and that all the configs are good. But now I keep on getting Connection Timed Out error, tested under Arch Linux and Mac (as the connecting clients). Under arch linux my card finds the wi-fi, finds its bssid and gets to sending an "ASSOCIATING" request which gets a Timeout response. It does not seem to be a hardwa…

  2. You know in Waynes World when the boys went to the Alice Cooper concert and got to meet Alice Cooper (they were his biggest fans)..... All they could say was "We're not Worthy.... We're not Worthy". That is the way I feel after downloading and installing the Jessie version of Armbian for my Olimex Micro. My hat is off to you.... Great Job!!!! It blows that awful SD I got from Olimex away..... I really want to see your desktop now.....

  3. When i first tried out my orange pi prime in october 2020 i thought i recalled that the wifi worked. With a current armbian image, the wifi can't authenticate. I tried several of the available kernel images. I'm sure that the wpa2 password is correct because I control the router and other devices connect all the time. If i plug in an ath9x usb wifi dongle, that is able to connect, so it would appear to be an issue with the onboard rtl8723bs driver.

  4. I have an Orange Pi Mini 2. As far as i know there is no official/ unofficial armbian build for this. there are other boards like orange pi pc, orange pi 2 and tritium h3 board whose images run fine for this board. I have also made armbian image builds with orange pi pc as target and these images work on opi mini 2. I would like to know how could i make a build exclusively for orange pi mini 2.

  5. Hi guys, I've searched for some days now, but couldn't find any infos. My problem is: If I want to boot my Orange Pi Zero without Ethernet, it just wont start. It seems like it is waiting for me to put in the cable. This can't be normal, can it? I ask, because, what am I supposed to do if I like my device to connect exclusively through WiFi? Or connect to nothing at all, till I need some type of connection. For me, it is important to connect only through WiFi at the moment. The OS's I've tried: Armbian Debian Jessie "mainline" and "legacy", no difference between them. Thanks, Pyro

Currently using the H5 image from here: https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-zero-2-h5/ but there is no easy option to target this board when building from source.

  9. I've just downloaded the Debian-server mainline image for my Olinuxino A20 Micro (Armbian_5.38 etc) and tried, without success, to change the video output from the default HDMI to the VGA one. Following the documentation (https://docs.armbian.com/Hardware_Allwinner/) I modified the boot.cmd file adding the lines: setenv video-mode sunxi:monitor=vga,hpd=0,edid=0 saveenv and recompiling it but the video continues to be enabled on the HDMI output, also after 2 (and more) restart. I noticed that in the boot splash screen a "Err: VGA" is reported. It's not too clear from the documentation if this setting can be applied also modifying the armbianEnv.txt …

I have installed WiringOP and orangepi_PC_gpio_pyH3. I managed to get pi-switch to compile (i had to add a swap file since it was using so much memory) when i run a sniffing code i get this "wiringPiISR: unable to open /sys/class/gpio/gpio0/value: No such file or directory" Maybe there are some rf433 lib that already work with hte orangepi, not sure, i did not find any ?

On armbian latest source compiled image, v4.13.9, SPI problem is solved. Do you have any plan to release official mainline image for Orange Pi One? Thank you very much.

Hi, I used to run a RPi3 as a VPN and DNS-Server (PiHole) and it worked like a charm. Since the RPI3 is a bit oversized for this work I bought a NanoPi Neo 512MB and installed armbian Ubuntu 4.9.x, but I have some issues with it: - eth0 is only connected by 100/half duplex. I can set it manually to full duplex with autoneg off, but after a few secondes it falls back to 10(!) half duplex. with autoneg on it comes back to 100 half duplex (the amber led is off; cable and switch are ok) - the MAC-Adress is changing every reboot. I have to fix it manually - I can set up Pihole to use the Nanopi as a DNS-Server and it works well in the LAN, until I connect over openVP…

Hi Forum, Please let me take a "low level" question about what I experienced on my CT. It should be my misunderstanding but it would be good if someone could help to clarify. On my CT udev mounts a USB device then starts a bash script in the background. This script lunches some bash threads and waits for them to complete. The threads has no common job on any file or resource. In the third level of nesting cp -r chrashes without any error message. It leaves the logging sentence in the middle, so it's really chrashes. rsync does the same but for different files. The scripts are fully functional if I start them from a root console. Even if started in the background.…

  21. hi guys, i'm using NanoPi neo core using a battery and a volt booster. and I want to control the voltage booster to turn off all peripherals to conserve power and prevent battery drainage. I figured there's a PWR-LED pin connected to GPIOL10, which turns off when the system shut down. is there a way to map another GPIO in the same way so i could know when the system has shut down - so it will be safe to cut power off? thank you so much.

  27. Hi. I've been using my Cubietruck for some time now without any issues. It is not directly connected to the outside world and is only used for some home automation. It boots via SD -> the SSD and has an internal battery as UPS. Really happy with it. Last year I migrated from Wheezy to Jessi so now I am at: ARMBIAN Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie) 3.4.109-sunxi I still receive the updates via ap-get update && upgrade, however should I be updating major like kernel? As this thing is used for home automation I am not looking forward to large down times. ;-) tnx for your honest responses.

  30. Hi there, I've been "playing" around various debian images for my lime2 and http://www.igorpecovnik.com/2014/11/18/olimex-lime-debian-sd-image/ seems to be the most achieved so far. Stable and everything. The only thing I miss is the "change_display.sh" tool so that I can easily configure my board to switch between the Olimex LCD and the HDMI screen. Would it be possible to add these tools in the next image ? I understand that it requires sunxi-tools and a few other things but it looks a bit complicated for me. Thanks for the feedback. Maxime

  48. Hi, I've got a pair of OrangePi 3 LTS boards running the CLI only install of Debian Bullseye with a kernel of 5.15.89-sunxi64 and all the latest updates applied. But when I run the 'top' command, I always see a load of 1.0 or higher. Even when the system is completely idle. I'm running the system of the eMMC, not SDcards. I realize that this is really more of a cosmetic issue, but I was hoping someone had a suggestion on how to fix it. The system is mostly idle, it's a test box or remote management system, so it's not really critical, and the load doesn't go high anyway. Cheers, John

I've had success with Armbian runing on Orange Pi One and pcDuino2. I'm using the legacy kernels on these boards. Today I've got a pcDuino3B - similar to pcDuino3 except it has GB ethernet from the pcDuino3 nano. I tried legacy kernels for both the 3 and the 3 nano. I see high cpu load ~35% from one of the kworker processes. Then I tried the mainline kernels from the 3 and the 3 nano. No cpu load problems but the GbE does not appear to be configured in the 3 image. 3 nano works on both ethernet and wifi so I'm wondering whether to stick with this one and see if there are any other differences. I don't have a build environment set up and no experience with kernel debug…

I have an Orange Pi Zero that had an uptime of well over a year monitoring the output of some solar panels and the state of charge of a battery. It then switches a couple of relays in response to these measurements. It has been really reliable for 2 years, never crashing or rebooting until now. At the beginning of September it started to stop working, it has no monitor or keyboard, only a cat5 cable, so when I say stop working, I mean it stops logging to the nfs drive, stops switching the relays, stops responding to pings and any ssh sessions timeout. It does this every few days, around 6:30 am, and I then have to power cycle it to get it to work a…

  70. First sorry for starting a similar thread here and in [1]. I try to read a DS18B20, which does not work with Armbian, DietPi, and Friendlyarm's Ubuntu. This morning, my idea was to slow down the CPU - and it worked. In detail: By running some useless cpu consuming python scripts, reading the DS18B20 works fine. As soon as i stop them, reading the sensor immediately fails. So there might be some timing issues in the implementations of w1-gpio and w1-gpio-board. Are there any hints how i can get these issues fixed? Thanks! Thomas [1] http://www.friendlyarm.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=393

  75. Hi, I'd like to use kvm on the Orange Pi PC2, but the Armbian 4.14.12-sunxi64 kernel doesn't seem to enable it (or possibly the boot loader doesn't put the CPU in the right mode?).
