EDIT: This seems to be a problem with the OS running on the Mikrotik router. See this thread for a work-around that "shouldn't make a difference". Hi! I've got some trouble with u-boot on an Orange Pi PC+ connecting to a Mikrotik router RB922UAGS-5HPacD, and I'm not sure where I should start digging. Here is what I have so far: Orange Pi PC+ with u-boot 2017.11-armbian installed on eMMC by running nand-sata-install. But instead of booting from eMMC, I'd like to fetch the kernel via tftp, so I modified the bootcmd accordingly. The relevant configuration / commands are: setenv ipaddr 192.168.3.74 setenv serverip 192.168.3.7…

Hi, I have "orange pi 3" and I want to migrate "Debian Buster" from "SD" card to eMMC. I run this command sudo nand-sata-install And I only get this! see link https://ibb.co/wQz0jx4 As you can see there is no item "Boot from eMMC - system on eMMC" What am I doing wrong? Hello, I'm running a OPI Lite with debian jessie, All works fine until i have to reboot, and that happens quiet often while testing software. AFTER the boot i'm not able to reach the OPI via SSH, because the eth0 is activated ...and has a 169.x.x.x ip adress... On the OPI Lite i can ONLY discover WIFI and no eth0 connector...So i go into the "nmtui" tool and "disactivate" the eth0... Than i have access again via the wifi to my OPI lite. How can i completely disable the eth0, that only WIFI connects to my network? I didn't find about this behavior on the web, anyone else have that problem? Kind regards from Hans F4VSJ

I built an adapter for a SPI interface SD Card Reader (https://www.ebay.com/itm/161201009722). I'm assuming I need to add in an overlay to make this reader show up, but I am not sure what that should be.

Hello. Somehow TX on UART 3 is not working. I connected USB-UART converter or the Banana Pi Zero M2 UART 3 Pins (as it shown here https://bananapi.gitbook.io/bpi-m2/en/bpi-m2_gpio_pin_define), set Baud rate, but I can't send anything from the SBC to PC. But I can send messages from PC to Banana pi. The converter is working properly(tested on Arduino). Do you have any ideas why? Hi, I have installed armbian 5.23 on an olimex A10 lime. After boot I find that the i2c devices on the UEXT interface do not show in /dev. They should be /dev/i2c-2 and /dev/i2c-3 and should be detectable using i2cdetect -y 2 (or 3). I notice that the package linux-jessie-root-lime-a10_5.23_armhf.deb ships the .bin (fex) files that configure the ports on boot. The file /boot/bin/lime-a10.bin and /boot/bin/lime-a10-lcd.bin have definitions for these ports but they are disabled. So for now I make a new .bin file with these ports enabled. Specifically I had to change the file like this (I made a new copy so that apt-get upgrade would not clobber my changes)…

Hello everyone, I’m looking for an old Armbian image: Armbian 5.73 stable for NanoPi NEO Air, specifically the one based on Debian 10 (Buster) with the 4.19.20-sunxi kernel. Unfortunately, it’s no longer available in the Armbian archives. If anyone still has a copy of this image (e.g., Armbian_5.73_NanoPiNeoAir_Debian_buster_next_4.19.20.img.xz), I would be very grateful if you could share it or point me to a working download link. Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi folks! I'm a proud owner of 120 Orange Pis. Now I want to do git deployment and reboot the device. I've enabled the ttyS3 for serial connection. Now I want to reboot the device. Sadly enough the device shuts down when executing a reboot or "sudo init 6"command. And when I type shutdown, the device is still on. I've search all kinds of forums, but I cannot find a suitable fix for this. Thanks in advance!

Before this I used to connect my APM 2.8.4 Flight controller to a Raspberry PI on Ground, Pin 8 and Pin 10. Today I tried to connect it to my orange pi zero plus2 H3. Pin 9, Pin 8 and Pin 10. On armbian-config toggle UART2. When i tried to connect to it using cat /dev/ttyS2 nothing came out. Once a while sent out some gibberish. I set the correct buadrate at 57600 and 91600 to no available. But I know the settings are correct because when I connect using USB through /dev/ttyACM0 it works. I tried ttyS1 and ttyS3 nothing came out of it. On Raspberry I had done this many times just by turning on the Serial Connection using …

Hi, Recently I have installed "Armbian_5.75_Orangepizero_Debian_stretch_next_4.19.20" on my OrangePi Zero . I configured both Ethernet and wifi connection but I had a problem with the wifi, my board does have an IP address but I can not connect through ssh nor pinging that IP. The connection is Ok and I can get access to internet but I can not ping from any other devices on the network (error Destination host unreachable), But I noticed that if I ping (from the orangepi board ) the host machine then I will be able to connect through ssh to that IP. I dont know if its a problem with arp last thing that I tried was to disable the network manager but I still have the…

So trying to run some GPIO interrupts using wiringpi. Using the wiringPiISR function and setting and interrupt handler seems to work, but as soon as the first interrupt happens, the handler gets stuck in some sort of loop and just get infinitely called. Pretty sure this is some bug in sys, since the wiringPiISR function just uses sys gpio calls to do the interrupts. Could be wrong and just be an issue with how wiringPi does it. Either way has anyone come across this and know of a workaround to fix this?

I've experienced some issue on my OPI PC running 4.14 kernel - it disconnects eth after some hours of running. It's very annoying for me because I'm running Home Assistant automations on it and it's located in remote location (not in my home), so I have to drive 50 km to reset/reconnect it manually First I thought OPI just froze somehow (kernel panic or so). But later I've set up heartbeat trigger on red led and it's blinking, so OPI just disconnects from eth. When I unplugged cable for a minute and plugged it in back, networking was restored and I could reach via ssh. I'd like to make some workaround for now and the simplest thing seems to be write a script and pu…

Hi All, I'm trying to enable SPI2 on a A20 Olinuxino LIME board. I've been away from armbian for a few months and came back to build a new project with my orange pi one but the nightly/recent mainlines builds seem to have stopped. I need a mainline kernel, and can grab one that's a few months old, but I wanted to be sure they haven't been moved. I'm not complaining! Just asking. With the number of boards available with armbian there has to be a lot of overhead doing nightly builds with few users, so it's not too surprising to see a change. I looked thru the sticky notes, but could not find a relevant post. Thanks!

Hi. I am having this issue with Orange PI PC. If it boots up when the TV it connects to over HDMI is off, I am getting blank pink screen. I guess it is because it chooses different video output when TV isn't detected. Raspbian forums suggest disabling "HDMI hotplug" by editing /boot/config.txt , but Armbian hasn't got this file. Please share your suggestions as this TV is on the wall in my kid's school at 2m height - and if it reboots due to short power failure, it needs a ladder to get fixed. Please help me before school year starts

I installed the pyA20 library for controlling GPIO, but I can't get the internal pullup resistor to work anymore. I managed to get it working before, but after playing around with other things, it stopped working. I have a very simple circuit going on, with just a light switch and I'm trying to read the light switch using the internal pull-up resistor. I managed to get it working for a few days, but that's it. I gave up and decided to solder on my own 10K pull-up resistor from the input pin to 3.3V. To my surprise, the results were the same, the input pin floated. Everything works fine with an Arduino. This is all very strange and I hope someone can help me. I'm runn…

It is possible to drag backlight control slider to far left position and this completely dims the screen's backlight. This might cause a lot of trouble, if backlight levels get saved by systemd service, as it will persist across reboots and will require you to shine a flashlight on a screen to actually see something and turn backlight back on.

I've upgraded to 5.20 from 5.17 and I've had to modify my /boot/bin/micro.bin to activate the VGA output. After Upgraded the board didn't reactivate the VGA, and I've to do it manually. Maybe some warning in the changelog will be an help to those have to do such modifications. The upgrade process copied the bin dir to bin.old. I have to apply "sudo apt-get upgrade" twice as the first run complain about come conflicting files and abort the upgrade, the second run did the job. I'm running legacy debian Jessie image and upgraded from 5.17 to 5.20. Now it seem to work well.

Hi all, First of all, I must congratulate the Armbian team for such an amazing job! It is really terrific! I'm using Armbian on a NanoPi Neo where I'm running an application that relies on having low latency UART responses. My application is having a latency of around 10ms and I believe that it might be related to the tick rate defined in the Armbian kernel (http://www.makelinux.net/books/lkd2/ch10lev1sec2). I would like to increase the tick rate, however, I got a little lost when I tried to browse the Armbian repository. I couldn't find the actual Linux Kernel source code. In order to increase the tick rate I need to edit the file /include/asm-"ar…

Hello, with the update to the new kernel (4.6.3-sunxi) I get some problems on my banana pro. First, while the system starts I get sometimes a kernel panic. Hi, I can boot off an SD card, but my Teres boots off internal storage to a black screen and I'm trying to figure out why. It seems even when I set verbose=7 in /boot/armbianEnv.txt, there is little to no kernel diagnostic output, even on a working SD card. I read on the debian wiki that u-boot-menu works on the Teres, but I tried installing this on an SD card and it prevents the SD card from booting (similarly to my internal storage booting issue). I've actually compared the contents of the unallocated space in front of the filesystem between the working sdcard and the internal storage, and they differ only in the partition table. Additionally …

Hello, My BananaPi board doesn't boot after apt update & apt upgrade. I didn't have any problems until now. At first I suspected it could be the SD card as it seemed to me the "server" was slower on authentication but the SD card looks ok. There were some errors when reading it via gdisk but f3 didn't find any problems. So I copied the newest downloadable image onto it. It worked again until the upgrade. What can I do to restore the functionality? Is there any known problem with last upgrade?I update the system quite usually so the change that could be responsible for this shouldn't be more than a month old. I even tried to use the direct attach…

Hi, I am running headless mainline jessie image on my cubietruck smoothly for some months now. The only drawback is that i need from time to time to play some videos on the tv. I have been waiting for hardware video acceleration in order to install mpv and play videos without GUI. I have been looking at the sunxi mainline effort and I see that for kernel 4.8 they plan the display engine clocks (TCON, FE, DE). As I am not a developer, it is not obvious to me (I have already googled it but no luck) if the display engine clocks are what we are waiting for hardware video acceleration on the mainline kernel. Can someone please explain (this noob question) what are displa…

The rtl8189etv wifi module on the orange pi r1 is not integrated into the main PCB. From photos on the web there seem to be such wifi modules with little pins which maybe can just be plugged in like some kind of hat but there are also versions without pins. Does anyone know if the wifi module on the opi r1 can be just unplugged or do the pins need to be cut or desoldered? Are there any issues to expect when removing the module. Wifi won't work obviously, but anything beyond that ?

No matter what I do, when I use an Armbian image built with compile.sh I get a blank orange screen on the OPi Plus 2. The downloadable pre-built image from Armbian for the board works fine. Wanting to debug this, I have an Adafruit UART serial cable adapter, known functioning and working. If I attach this to the UART pins on the small header near the power socket I get no output (and I have swapped RX and TX to no avail). How does one enable this UART? Am I using a wrong approach? I have console=both in armbianEnv.txt.

I'm on the Olimex Teres running the newish Armbian Ubuntu 20.04 and I'm having a lot of trouble with the system intermittently freezing or slowing. Kernel 5.4.43 . My usual routine is to boot the system into multi-user, run asciinema, run tmux, and then edit files with vim inside both. The issue starts after a bit. CPU and I/O usage stay low during the delays in responsiveness. Sorry if I am kinda irritated and frustrated in the video. I've been dealing with a lot of issues. cheers, new to this, so far have created xenial core, installed virtualbox, built xenial with 4 cpu, 8gb ram, 120Gb vdk, and successfully installed armbian kernel and OS build tools. Was able to build several OPi kernels, then noticed there was only option for OPi + not OPi+ 2 and it appears to only support 1GB of the 2GB available. Its this a viable option? will it automatically do 2GB on boot or is it specifically limited? Not sure which parameters to change. Also looking for an accurate schematic of the Orange Pi Plue 2 would appreciate it if someone can send me a link. My application is to setup SPI and i2C and from weeks of reading this …

Hello people, I'm using Armbian 5.30 - kernel 3.4.113 on a Nanopi NEO. and I'm relatively new to this stuff, so please bear with me. I successfully managed to install an LCD screen on SPI (ILI9341) using this command: sudo modprobe fbtft_device custom name=fb_ili9341 gpios=reset:1,dc:201,led:6 speed=16000000 rotate=90 bgr=1 So far so good, but the resolution of the screen is too little and can't load anything - for example Dosbox. I would want to replicate the trick that already exists on Raspberry/Raspbian, and that is to framebuffer a higher res screen (at least 640x480) on the tiny LCD's resolution of 320x240. This is the p…

Hello! I run Armbian (just updated to version 21) from an 128GByte heavy duty SD card. I am just trying to setup searx (https://github.com/searx/searx) which is using Docker containers. One of the Docker containers won't start, throwing an error message: I searched for long, trying to find some possible solution for this issue. The most fitting seemd to be, where someone said: Yes, it's for another OS and hardware, but I found no other possible solution. So disabling apparmor through a kernel parameter, is what I am trying to achieve. I addded 'apparmor=0' to the bootenv, using armbian-config. I al…

Hello, I have a couple of NEO Pi Air's and they show up as the same device in LightBlue. Hi all, I've been trying to install ft6x drivers on a nanopi neo air, which has armbian with legacy kernel, but it seems there is no support for ft6x capacitive touch panels. There is a code from Focaltech here, which is ft6x06 driver code. I added the code to kernel and compiled it, but the problem is: what should I do with fex file? Or is it right to do this? (I was not surprised that it didn't work). Can I change the current ft5x code to make ft6x works? There is also a support for ft6x family on mainline kernel. Is there any hope to adopt that code? Thanks.

Hi, I am trying to create some kind of audio streaming server on orange pi zero. I've installed Qt5 and tried to start streaming audio using UDP datagrams. The problem is that sending one datagram takes a lot of time(~50-100ms) so there are interrupts in audio streaming. Greetings, all! I've got a LeMaker A20 BananaPro, on which I'm using the Armbian mainline distribution (for a more complete description of my setup, please see below). I'm using a serial console to the board; I'm not connecting anything to HDMI for display. I'm running the distribution off of a brand new 8Gig SanDisk Extreme Pro. I would like to use alsa (at least in part) in the audio stack. I'm experiencing the following: When I have no audio playing through the audio out jack, I get a loud (powerline, probably) hum on my speakers. When I start audio playback (a wav through aplay, or an mp3 through mpd, etc.) the hum disappears, and the so…

On a new installation cant access over SSH. Same on latest Armbian 5.04 Jassie and Wheezy. If I change the parameter UsePAM to no (in /etc/ssh/sshd_config), I can login via SSH. EDIT I fount the problem is with first run scripts. On legacy it looks ok, but on vanilla these scripts are destroying SSH.

Hi, I recently got a NanoPI NEO2 v1.0. I am able to load the Linux images using SD card and login using debug UART. But I am facing a strange issue where I need to disconnect USB power AND debug UART GND to switch off/on the board. I am using PL2303 UART module and connected the Tx, Rx and GND (verified using board diagram in wiki). Basically to completely reset the board, I also need to disconnect the UART GND. Is this expected? The LED is always on from beginning of boot till UART GND is disconnected (on even with USB power off). I have also verified that the board boots up only using UART 5V and without USB power, but I would to continue using U…

I'm trying to get the Orange Pi One Plus' OTG port to function in "otg" or "peripheral" mode. I've modified the device tree configuration to change the "dr_mode" from "host" to "peripheral". This works as long as the Orange Pi One Plus and the device are separated by a hub. If directly connected via an OTG cable/adapter the device instead charges from the Orange Pi One Plus. I assume this would be due to the OTG port acting as a power source rather than a power sink. However, after experimenting I've been unable to find a device tree configuration change the role of the vbus. Does anybody have any advice?

Dear Community, I currently want to reduce the transmission power of the NanoPi Neo Air. This means that I simply want to be able to set the Wifi transmission power in 10% steps, for example. What I have already tried: Instructions according to Wiki: OpenWrt image is not flashed. No access via browser. But it doesn't matter: max. transmission power is used in AP mode. Setting as in the Wiki image "TransmitPower:auto" probably does not apply here anyway. Network Manager TUI via "sudo nmtui" has no such settings. Hi, I'm trying to get Bluetooth working on a Cubietruck running 6.6 kernels including the latest Armbian release. What I'm finding is that a Cubietruck can discover other Cubietrucks but nothing else. Other devices (e.g. Raspberry Pi, Nvidia, Rockpi, and various phones) can discover each other but not the Cubietrucks. I have three Cubietrucks here and testing with the old 4.99 Bluetooth software or the current 5.55 release shows no difference. But if I run a Cubietruck with the ancient 3.4 kernel it can detect other devices but not the Cubietrucks running the 6.6 kernels. I'm using the same Wi-Fi firmware and BT .hcd file in all cases.
