  8. good morning everyone, I installed Armbian 23.02.2 on orangepizero about a year ago without ever having a problem . Today it suddenly stopped booting and I can't get it to start again and that's what I'm interested in, also possibly to recover internal docker configurations. The orangepizero is powered by a 3A power supply under UPS and properly cooled, if I use the latest release on a new SD it works perfectly, so I think it is not a hardware problem. The SD with Armbian 23.02.2 is not corrupted and I can read every part of it. Does anyone know any tricks to get it running again?

Just soldering a few wires to the gpio pins and drilling a hole in the case isn't really an option. I am looking for a nice and clean way. 17. Hi all After having used a lot the OPiPC2 with Armbian, I am now adding support for this board in openwrt. The first add board patch, has been merged recently in snapshot branch and works ok. For the first implementation I set the MUSB port role to host, but now my goal is to set it in OTG, making this port available for usb serial console, connecting a host PC to it. So, I built the needed support for g_serial in kernel and give a try, but I cannot make it work The host PC detects just nothing, as the OpiPC2 does not detect a USB host being connected to it Checking the dmesg I see something suspicious: [ 0.614423] sun4i-usb-phy…

  19. I think I know the answer to this but I'll ask anyways. Is there any command line software out there (e.g., VLC) that I could put onto an Armbian Server Edition version that would show a movie out on the HDMI port? I have a NanoPi M1 that has a HDMI port. But I'm assuming that without all the Desktop video driver, it isn't possible to do this on a headless server.

  21. I have the gc2035 camera working on my Orange Pi One running Armbian, but I need a better image sensor. I've had a quick attempt to get an ov5640 working without any luck. It is a popular 5Mpixel module similar to the RPi camera. I know that 'Sitheek' on the Orange Pi forums had it working. However, that place is a ghost town now and Sitheek has not visited since January. So, I wonder if anyone here has got an OV5640 camera working, or failing that, could just offer some pointers on how to go about this? Thanks.

I haven't had any luck getting the ov5640 camera module working with the nanopi air. I have compiled the latest dev version of bionic and enabled the ov5640 as a module in menuconfig. I currently cannot get it showing up under /dev/video* Any ideas?

  23. Hi guys, I have just completed to build my "development workspace" including OpenCV, Qt5 and working OV5640. I've noticed that people reach about 30 fps of the frame rate using VGA/QVGA resolution. Datasheet says about 120 FPS for QVGA and 90FPS for VGA. I was working with this camera chip on STM32Fx and I got much better results than OPI0+ Is it weird, it is? I am wondering what is a limitation to get better performance and quality on this camera. I plan to write drivers myself, however I want to be sure it is only driver limitation. Any advice will be appreciated.

  27. Hi, my overlays=w1-gpio spi-spidev are not working anymore since I upgraded from 4.14.84-sunxi to 4.19.13-sunxi (Banana Pi with armbian 5.70). Regarding the 1-wire protocol cat /sys/bus/w1/devices/*/w1_slave responds "No such file or directory" since the upgrade. Also regarding the spi overlay # ls /dev/spi* should result in /dev/spidev0.0 whereas kernel 4.19 says "cannot access /dev/spi*: No such file or directory". All was working fine with the 4.14 kernel. thanks in advance

  29. Hey all, Sorry for the noob question, I posted this in another topic but it hasn't seen any action so I thought I would make a post. I have an Orange Pi PC, using the RetroOrangePi build which is based on Armbian. I'm having overscan issues on my 720p TV. I checked the options on the PC, there's no way to fix it there. They figured it out in this topic here (where I initially asked this question): The solution is to add code to u-boot in order to solve the overscan, or edit boot.cmd. My question is, will using u-boot be the best solution, or is it better to edit boot.cmd? Do I simply create a boot.cmd in something like note…

For some reason my Jessie image is not coming up (see my other thread regarding network not coming up), but I did managed to get a wheezy image up and running on my BananaPi using latest / next. It's been a long while since I created an image, but I vaguely remember the image resizing to maximize the SD card space. I basically had to manually resize the image by deleting and recreating the partition. Is there some way to specify the image size …

  40. Hi, my current project is about using a NanoPI M1 as a controller for a 3D printer. As such, one wants to have very tight timing on the GPIO output, with as little jitter as possible, to get smooth motion of the stepper motors. However, it is common belief that getting a fast timing with little jitter is virtually impossible to do under linux, without the help of a dedicated chip just for the IO. While that is true in general on stock kernels, it's possible to vastly improve on that front by spending a little effort. One way on ARM chips is to use the FIQ. That is an interrupt that has the highest priority, which can interrupt all other, regular interrupts. Ho…

I have used it mainly as OMV sever with sata drive but now I migrate to a x86 install and this board will be wiped as I would like to use at as vpn server etc. What are my alternatives? I know that still are a lot of A20 boards that have armbian support. Which of them I can use and what probably won't work?

  48. Hi, this is my first post, my apologies, I could not find a matching topic category for this PCduino3 nano question/issue (no built-in wifi, I use a Roccar wifi dongle) I have successfully built the image using the armbian configuration script (bookworm current), the board boots and runs teslausb, however, I am unable to install the driver for my wifi dongle. The error when starting the install-driver.sh script is "your kernel headers are not properly installed". I tried apt install linux-headers-current-sunxi and kernel-headers-armmp, they install successfully but I still get the same error about the kernet headers not being properly installed. Th…

I am trtying to keep my pcduino 3 nano alive. It has been working perfectly under a debian bullseye distro from Johan Gunarsson for 4 years and now I can't get the OTG to work under any release (bullseye, bookworm or trixie) I have explored many avenues, but even a plain manual setup of g_mass_storage doesn't work in a workable way. The drive appears in Windows Explorer after several minutes, and any copy or delete to that gadget drive takes ages (3+ minutes for a 12kb file) before it fails or succeeds silently. I am looking for a forum where pcduino users can help each other. Thank you, Gaetano.

  50. Hi all. I have been doing some interesting reading here. Thank you that you started this project. I saw it already in 2014 I think when I bought my Pcduino 3 Version A but I wasn't sure back there if this project was for real. The reason why I bought Pcduino3 in the first place was an idea of a media client/server so I could hook it up to my TV and watch youtube and or Netflix and maybe have a little ftpserver on it so I can transfer my favorite tv shows to it (I currently live in germany but I do not speak/understand it fluently and all tv channels here and in german ) and watch them comfortably on the sofa (my back hurts if I sit too long by PC), and a smal…

  51. Today I was going through my cupboard and did find a original pcDuino (v1) with A10-CPU and 1GB of Ram. In my mind I got the pcDuino v2 download-page of armbian. As JohnGo did wrote May 2016 on this page is a picture of the pcDuino v1: So I checked the specifications v1 <--> v2 and found ony that v2 has only a WiFi-Board soldered where on the v1 is a additionally USB-Port. Also the v1 is missing the Arduino-Headers, but has some other pin-rows for GPIO and so on. CPU (single-Core 1Ghz) and Ram (whopping 1GB for 2012) is the same I wrote the pcDuino v2 Image to a uSD and booted it without problems. (and changed /etc/upd…

The pcduino discussions appear to be centred here and the A10 appears to be a cutdown A20 so please forgive me if this is in the wrong area. I've been playing with an old pcduino2 and have got the latest mainline server version of Armbian installed on it. Very impressive. However, it appears to have only a single I2C bus and no SPI devices. It looks like there should be a sun4i-a10-spi-spidev.dts file somewhere or else some way to build the appropriate kernel modules but I have been unable to find this. I understand that this is a deprecated board but I should (hopefully) be able to perform any kernel builds required and am more than happy to feed the resul…

Hi, I've had a PcDuino3 for some time now, but I have barely used it because linksprite work was shoddy; so I never bothered to give the pcduino much time. I Also own a banana pi (A20), an O-DROID XU-4, several rPi's and an Orange Pi PC. All non rPi's are running armbian; you are all awesome for your work! I think I understand this problem with 4.x has something to do with the device tree .dtb files, but no clue what to do to get it to boot and display through HDMI. I'm actually wanting to use it as a headless server, but initial setup requires me to see the screen only because the onboard wifi is not working either (despite manually editing /etc/wpa_supplicant/wp…

Initially I attempted upgrading the kernel from 6.1.26 to 6.1.33 using the build scripts to generate the newer kernel and headers. After rebooting I found that the system just appeared to hang around starting kernel. I did wait 10 minutes at first, thinking that perhaps their maybe some stuff going on in the background but after that conclude that it had most certainly crashed. The frustrating thing being that I did not appear to get any errors come through the debug port. At this point I assumed that perhaps something may have broke during the upgrade. My second attempt was using a completely fresh compiled image but unfortunately the result was still the same. …

I have tried following the kernel upgrade guide as listed here: https://www.armbian.com/pcduino3nano/, but that doesn't seem to solve it. The device isn't even seen anymore. I did at one point get an error in dimes about ‘/lib/firmware/rtlwifi/rtl8188eufw.bin' being missing, which was odd because i don't think thats wifi, but replacing that with one i found on the rpi boards didnt help either. 59. hi, having power problems with the two usb ports of my pcduino3 nano, i checked the schematics and it appears the otg port is not powered by the USB_5V rail but directly from the VCC_5V input rail, so i was hoping it would solve my problem. Unfortunately it seems the port acts as an OTG port by default and i can't find a way to restore the otg host mode as advertised in the vanilla kernel features. The documentation only details how to use various OTG modes but not how to revert it back to host. I'm using xenial vanilla image. thank you.

This has happened with 2 different HDMI cables and 2 different monitors (one an actual PC monitor, the other my Panasonic Plasma TV). Has anyone else come across this issue before? Is there anything I can check? Also I'm having trouble getting the wired network to connect using the WICD Network Manager (The Wifi connects OK). Is there anything I can check here? I haven't used Linux for many years and am very rusty on troubleshooting issues. Many thanks in advance for your help. No.42

Today I've got a pcDuino3B - similar to pcDuino3 except it has GB ethernet from the pcDuino3 nano. I tried legacy kernels for both the 3 and the 3 nano. I see high cpu load ~35% from one of the kworker processes. Then I tried the mainline kernels from the 3 and the 3 nano. No cpu load problems but the GbE does not appear to be configured in the 3 image. 3 nano works on both ethernet and wifi so I'm wondering whether to stick with this one and see if there are any other differences. I don't have a build environment set up and no experience with kernel debug…

After along time I downloaded a new armbian image, after doing apt update/upgrade for the last year or so. I was quite surprised to see that the pcduino3nano is now deprecated, while other A20 boards are still supported. What was the exact reason that the pcduino3nano was dropped from support? If I keep using the deprecated OS, can I fully use apt update/upgrade for all user stuff? What would happen to all kernel and u-boot update packages? Is the latest armbian for the pcduino3nano automatically disabling those updates, or do I need to do something manually? *should* I block kernel & u-boot updates? thanks, Udi

  67. I finally decided to give armbian a try on my Orange Pi One. Started without any issue and then I noticed that the 50°c idle. Sounds a bit high. I compliled mplayer with j3 and saw the temperature reaching 90°c then throttling down the frequency to 600MHz with a temperature of 70°c. Ultimately this board is nowhere faster than a RPI2 if it is stuck to 600MHz under heavy load. Or my Orange PI One has a serious problem. Any advice?

It uses spi and uart to communicate with the pi. I have it running without issues on my orange pi zero, even though the pinheader is a little too large. And via a breadboard I can access all pins just fine. But since I am making my own PCB anyway, I am interested in using the stamp version. The only difference between the stamp and the pi-hat version (aside from the form-factor and pin-out) is that the pi-hat version has an additional eeprom chip to tell the rapsberry pi about the function of the pins apparently. This might cause a lot of trouble, if backlight levels get saved by systemd service, as it will persist across reboots and will require you to shine a flashlight on a screen to actually see something and turn backlight back on.

If I connect OPI to second monitor LG1752S and restart OPI, screen is OK. After reconnect back to AL1716, screen is still ok. But after restart with AL1716 is screen again pink. Tested some different resolutions with h3disp, but still get pink screen. Looks like problem with monitor detection at start. Is possible to disable detection after start with working monitor and set as default? Any other solution? Edit: I found…

  96. Hi, I am running headless mainline jessie image on my cubietruck smoothly for some months now. The only drawback is that i need from time to time to play some videos on the tv. I have been waiting for hardware video acceleration in order to install mpv and play videos without GUI. I have been looking at the sunxi mainline effort and I see that for kernel 4.8 they plan the display engine clocks (TCON, FE, DE). As I am not a developer, it is not obvious to me (I have already googled it but no luck) if the display engine clocks are what we are waiting for hardware video acceleration on the mainline kernel. Can someone please explain (this noob question) what are displa…

  98. Started by linmob,

Hello, I'm using a BananaPi and just tried the latest version (10.6.2015, Linux 4.0.5) of your great distribution. Unfortunately, support for ath9k_htc based USB Wifi adapters seems to be missing, which is crucial for me. (ath9k_htc works great using free and open source firmware.) Could you please add support for this kind of hardware for future releases or give me a hint how I could add support to your existing images? Thank you and kind regards, LINMOB

  100. Attempting to connect ILI9341 LCD with XPT2046 Touch to NanoPi NEO Core2 and then migrate to NanoPi Duo2. The ILI9341 / XPT2046 peripheral board has shared SPI with a separate slave chip select for the screen and touch controllers. Starting with hardware datasheet for the H3 I see there is lots of support for different chip select implementations. This makes me think I am on good footing from a hardware perspective. What is not clear to me is how the register support for four slave chip selects translates into pin assignments. Reading through spi-sun6i.c., for example, static int sun6i_spi_transfer_one( ... ) uses SUN6I_TFR_CTL_CS_MANUA…
