I have an Olinuxino A20. Armbian has no HDMI sound and the video playback is a bit painful. This doesn't happen on Libreelec and, from my understanding, it's partly due to some kernel patches that they applied. Is it possible to use Libreeleec's kernel on armbian? If so, can someone guide me a little on how to do it? Thank you very much.

Hi, I am new here so please apologize if I am asking already asked question, but I couldn't find the solution. I am trying to install docker on my orange pi zero 3 which is running Armbian (24.2.0-trunk.519) aarch64, kernel version 6.6.15-current-sunxi64. I have found this post, but I was not able to install docker because I found 2 problem that I don't know how to solve. 1. Installing docker using armbian-config does not work. I install armbian-config, run it as su/sudo, choose docker and install. The installer does something and after it's done it returns me to the same screen where I have chosen docker to be installed. So, no confirmation that I hav…

Hi - is there anywhere a working guide to create a Wifi Access Point with this board ? I have tried the official debian ISO from orange pi and doing so with create_ap is very easy. I'd like to use armbian instead but using the "Minimal / IOT image with Armbian Linux v6.6" (bookworm) all I get is hell: I installed network-manager and armbian-config then used the later to try the hotspot configuration but then (several freezes and reboots after) it complains that "Unit hostapd.service is masked" and when I solve that, then dnsmasq fails and I see no helpful error message. I even tried connecting to a wifi network first before trying hot…

Subject: Fix for eMMC Internal State Deadlock / Power-Loss Recovery Failure on Allwinner (sunxi) platforms (Banana Pi P2 Zero) Hi Armbian and sunxi developers, I would like to share an industrial-grade diagnostic report and a 100% verified solution regarding a severe, reproducible boot deadlock on Allwinner H2+/H3 platforms (specifically tested on Banana Pi P2 Zero) utilizing onboard eMMC. === 1. SYMPTOM === During rigorous power-cycling stress tests (hard power-off during random kernel init/write phases), the system randomly bricks on subsequent boots, showing a "dropping to shell" (initramfs / BusyBox prompt) or failing completely during the U-Boot phas…

Hi, I just saw ARMBian has been upgraded to 5.00 version. Then I though to check if my initial problem (for my first ARMBian test with the previous 4.5 version) could be solved with this new version : http://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/616-lamobo-bpi-r1-network-issue-sudden-reboot-quick-usb-uart-how-to/?hl=miguipda What I encounter now with the 5.0 is a Lamobo R1 seems stable because no blinking green led. On a new installation cant access over SSH. Same on latest Armbian 5.04 Jassie and Wheezy. If I change the parameter UsePAM to no (in /etc/ssh/sshd_config), I can login via SSH. EDIT I fount the problem is with first run scripts. On legacy it looks ok, but on vanilla these scripts are destroying SSH.

Hi, I'm trying to make my opi one act as a keyboard. I've found that I need to activate g_hid module, but when I trying to execute: modprobe g_hid it says: modprobe: FATAL: Module g_hid not found. Also, g_ether, g_mass_storage, g_multi, g_ptinter and g_serial modules are available. So, what should I do and maybe anyone can provide me an example how to send a keystroke to my pc? Thanks.

Hi, I was wondering if anybody has managed to get rf433 receiver or emitter to work on an orangepi one ? I am trying to get this pi-switch (https://github.com/lexruee/pi-switch-python) to work. I have installed WiringOP and orangepi_PC_gpio_pyH3. I managed to get pi-switch to compile (i had to add a swap file since it was using so much memory) when i run a sniffing code i get this "wiringPiISR: unable to open /sys/class/gpio/gpio0/value: No such file or directory" Maybe there are some rf433 lib that already work with hte orangepi, not sure, i did not find any ?

Hi, I have bought Orange Pi Zero and installed Armbian Ubuntu version. Device (and OS!) works fantastic. However, I have a problem, because DNS resolving does not work until I manually edit /etc/resolv.conf file and enter: nameserver <ip_of_my_router> The problem is, I am using my Zero device in different networks, so I need to reconfigure it every time I connect it to other network. Is there any solution for this? In fact, it is quite weird, I have tried several things (when DNS resolving was not working), for instance: dig @8.8.8.8 www.slo-tech.com any and got only: ; <<>> DiG 9.10.3-P4-Ubuntu <<>> @8.8.8.8 www.sl…

Hi, I am trying to use an Orange Pi Zero as a headless music player running MPD connected to a USB DAC. I have everything set up and it works well, but now I would like to add a momentary push button connected to a gpio pin to enable me to soft shutdown the Orange Pi Zero. I've done the same with python scripts that I've found in the Rune Audio forum (which runs on Arch Linux) for the Raspberry Pi, but I understand that the Pi Zero pins are different from the Raspberry Pi. This is the script I used on the Raspberry Pi #!/usr/bin/env python2 import RPi.GPIO as GPIO import time import subprocess GPIO.setmode(GPIO.BOARD) #Select unused GPIO header pin…

Hi, I'm using fbtft with legacy kernel in orange pi zero to be able to use 3.5 inch raspberry LCD with ILI9486 (not sure). Everything works and I can get image from the LCD (although it is terribly slow). But I have one big problem. LCD freezes after some time or when screen screen changes or even sometimes during initialization . Is there anything wrong with the spi driver in armbian ? How can I get over this issue ? I'm sure there is nothing wrong with the lcd because I have tested same lcd on raspberry pi and I have about 500 of these lcds for a project. This is the my fbtft options : modprobe fbtft_device custom name=fb_ili9486 gpios=dc:18,reset:2 busnu…

I am trying to use an Iono Pi Board from SFERA Labs on an OrangePI PC Plus. https://www.sferalabs.cc/product/iono-pi-board/ I was able to get i2C working so that I could connect to some devices like a temp sensor and accelerometer. My issue is pretty basic at this point. I am simply trying to blink the green light on the board. According to docs, the onboard LED is connected to GPIO7. So through looking at documentation I was able to decipher that GPIO7 is physical pin 7 on an RPi. I am using pyA20.gpio. Accordingly Pin 7 = PA6. However when I set PA6 high the light does not come on. Am I missing something? Anyone have expe…

Hi All, I did upgrade of my Cubieboard 3 from 5.31 to Armbian 5.36 and everything was fine. But than by short system audit I find an old package "rpimonitor" that was used long time before and never being used now. I did "sudo apt purge rpimonitor" and "sudo apt autoremove" to remove dependencies and it starts... Somehow my CPU load was vanished, on Idle mode it shows at least 2.0+ and at least 4+ on load. Looks like it is twice higher than it is. If I run top command, nothing shown. Only mysql time is 117+ Hours. Hey guys, I've spent the last couple of weeks trying to get a TFT display with touch screen to work on my Orange Pi PC board, and I've decided to share my step-by-step solution here. This tutorial is heavily based on Guide: How to use Touchscreen + LCD on H3 devices by Kutysam, but I had to do some extra steps for it to work properly. This tutorial is only for Mainline kernel, I was able to get the graphical screen working with Kutysam's guide for Legacy, but couldn't make the touch work. First of all this is the display I'm using: LCD module Pi TFT 3.5 inch (320*480) Touchscreen Display Module TFT for Raspberry Pi 3. I believe it is a clone of this Waveshare…

In case anyone else is considering this. I can confirm that I was able to compile Dual DHCP DNS Server on the Orange Pi Zero Plus board by using the instructions for 64 bit Linux as given in the Dual DHCP DNS Server manual (in the download). The project is hosted on Source Forge https://sourceforge.net/projects/dhcp-dns-server/ This is a very lightweight but powerful DHCP/DNS server for Windows and Linux. I currently am running a primary server on Windows and a secondary on the Orange Pi. My current OS is ARMBIAN 5.38 stable Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS 4.14.48-sunxi64. I suspect that it will work for other versions of the OS and board too. Daemonize proved to be s…

How can I disable the auto login as the root user in the cubietruck ubuntu (XFCE)? That does not sound a good idea. How could I auto login with a different user? Dear all, i just installed a fresh Armbian 4.5 Jessie with Vanilla kernel 4.2.3 on an SD card and booted it on a cubietruck. I did not receive any HDMI output. This did not change after a kernel update to 4.2.5 via apt-get update and apt-get upgrade and a reboot. However, the same cubietruck works flawlessly with Debian Wheezy (2.6 updated to 4.5) and kernel 3.4.110. I checked the boot.cmd script and looked into cubietruck.bin - the standard settings would appear to identify the correct (HD) display resolution and to enable HDMI by default. Do you have any recommendations ? Is there anyone experiencing the same problem ? With kind regards, Lupus …

The documentation on the Orange Pi Zero Plus 2 is somewhat scarce. I couldn't find information on the GPIO map for the 26-pin header anywhere, but I manually mapped it. I did this with an LED on each successive pin and testing through the /sys/class/gpio driver until I found the one to control it. This caused a bunch of resets and eventually corrupted my sd card, but I got the info Each of the numbers below is the GPIO number used for /sys/class/gpio. For example, 110 means gpio110. The list is by pin number from 1 to 26. A value of -1 means unavailable (as far as I could discover): -1, -1, 12, -1 (pin 1,2,3,4) 11,-1,6,0 (pin 5,6,7,8) -1…

Is there any other firmware for the AP6255 available, besides the one made available for Khadas VIM at https://github.com/khadas/android_hardware_amlogic_wifi/tree/Vim/bcm_ampak/config/6255/BT or the one for the Raspberry Pi 3+ available e.g. at https://github.com/OpenELEC/misc-firmware/blob/master/firmware/brcm/BCM43430A1.hcd which uses also the same chipset? Hi, Recently I have installed "Armbian_5.75_Orangepizero_Debian_stretch_next_4.19.20" on my OrangePi Zero . I configured both Ethernet and wifi connection but I had a problem with the wifi, my board does have an IP address but I can not connect through ssh nor pinging that IP. I dont know if its a problem with arp last thing that I tried was to disable the network manager but I still have the…

Recently I wanted to give another try to a NanoPi NEO Plus2 but I noticed that it is marked as not supported and there is no Armbian Bionic image for it (the links in https://www.armbian.com/nanopi-neo-plus2/ return 404). Dear Armbian community, First of all, I am aware of the fact that what I am trying to achieve is not supported, but let me ask anyway. Hello, I am trying to use my NanoPi neo Plus 2 rev 1.2 board as KVM with help of (kvmd-armbian) and USB-HDMI capture card and USB-A to USB-A cable as OTG for emulation of Keyboard and mouse as HID. The amount of total (413M) vs real (512M) memory is quite low: # grep -e Mem -e Cma /proc/meminfo MemTotal: 422416 kB MemFree: 49620 kB MemAvailable: 314396 kB CmaTotal: 0 kB CmaFree: 0 kB # dmesg | grep Memory: [ 0.000000] Memory: 407924K/524288K available (14144K kernel code, 1456K rwdata, 8700K rodata, 3072K init, 521K bss, 116364K reserved, 0K cma-reserved) # grep extraargs /boot/armbianEnv.txt extraar…

Hi Everyone. I have been looking for a way to connect this keypad directly to my Orange Pi PC+ directly through gpio without resistors. https://www.adafruit.com/product/1332 I also need software (hopefully either bash or python) to read a key press and then either run a script or perform a command. If anyone here done this or even connected 1 switch to gpio (without resistors), could you please post the solution or a link to follow. Thanks. V

Hello, Recently I bought my first orange pi one and I downloaded the xenial desktop specifically so that I could have an xserver preinstalled to what I wanted to transform into an access point. I had realized that all realtek wifi dongles would cause a kernel crash once you try to connect to an access point with them. I had followed instructions to rebuild the orange pi with the dev packages that are found on its download page, and it worked the first time, allowing me to continue with my work. Long story short I ended up re-imaging the sd card and now I can't get the dev version to work again. It won't boot once I install the packages. I am wondering if somet…

Orange Pi Plus 2e How do I clone the SD card and both have boot capability? I am new to the concepts of Pi's so I am looking to slowly add abilities to the pi and have a working clone which I can use when I stuff it up. I have also seen no mention of grub being used anywhere. My main computer is a amd 64 with Debian running but I can use my laptop with win 8.1 on it but would prefer a solution which I can use on Debian Thanks for your help Dave

Hello everybody. AFAIK Banana PI M1+ share the same costumed Armbian OS with Banana Pro. The Armbian can run pretty well without any changes on my Banana Pro. The problem is, with the same OS image, the on-board WiFi is not working and i can't remember what im doing (what i remember is I do something inside /boot directory), then the WiFi is detected and working properly on my Banana Pi M1+. My simple question is What is the right way to configure Armbian for Banana Pi M1+ after installation? I assume all the default configuration is for Banana Pro and we need some tweak for Banana Pi M1+ especially to enable on-board WiFi and to use GPIO properly.

Hi, I have a nanopi neo based on allwinner h3 chipset. I am trying to use an SPIDEV based driver for RF2401L (2.4 Ghz wireless module). I have used npi-config to enable the /dev/spidev0.0 device. However, when I try to use it to read status register of my module, I get wrong values. My SPI settings are Speed: 10kHz Bits: 8 Mode: 0 (CPOL=0, CPHA=0) To debug the issue I used a logic analyzer and found the clock signal rising up just before the MISO/MOSI activity. It shouldn't do that. When CPOL = 0, clock should be idle at 0. I am setting the SPI mode to 0. Here is the code void SPI::init() { uint8_t bits = RF24_SP…

My Orange Pi PC running Armbian gets disconnected from both SSH and VNC after maybe 20 minutes or so out of nowhere, no matter if idle or doing anything. I can't connect back until I restart the entire SBC by keyboard. The pi is useless to me if I can't run it "headless". I'm wondering if it's a MAC problem. I have a pfSense router I built myself and have had different subnet addresses. I've made sure the MAC address isn't repeated on another subnet address, though. I know the Raspberry Pi has a way to change it, but does the OPi PC as well? The MAC "problem" is just a guess, though. I really don't know what's with the disconnection issues. I'm no …

Hi everyone. I got a Orange Pi Prime (OPi Prime). It works ok with "official" debian and ubuntu images from Xulong (xulong web site). When I try to use Armbian 5.33 stable, I got some text into HDMI screen until the words "loading kernel", then nothing is shown on monitor; but through TTL port I can login as root. That behaviour is repeated wheter using Ubuntu (desktop or server), Debian (desktop or server). With Legacy kernel (3.x) the same card worked in the past, but the image is not available anymore. I'm attaching the output from TTL console: Spoiler CPU: Allwinner H5 (SUN50I) Model: OrangePi Prime…

So I created a new SD card using Armbian Stretch this time but with exactly the same result. I am desperate! The diagnostic output is here http://ix.io/1x25 Kind regards, Hans C

I'm on a years old Orange pi zero H2, an often forgotten single purpose print/scan server board. So i want to upgrade to the latest kernel via armbian-config->system->other(switch kernel). Previously its on 4.19. so when i tried to change to current 5.8.16, 5.8.14, 5.8.12 & 5.8.5, i got "No end-user support: unsupported (stretch) userspace!" it has taken me an hours plus just switching kernel, hoping to find the supported ones. though i dont mind unsupported / legacy kernel, i still prefer the latest supported ones. Is any of the kernel on the list supported? if there none on the list, is there a way to add a supported kernel?…

Hi All! Legacy kernel says: "Enabled audio devices: analog, 8 channel HDMI, spdif and I2S (if wired and enabled in HW configuration)" But there is no multi channel device listed in aplay -L , like surround51, surround71, etc. With "speaker-test -D default:sunxisndhdmi -c 6 -t wav", We got a downmixed stereo result. Receiver device is a BEM-182 Broadcast Monitor on its HDMI input - only 2 VU-meter band appears. Other test setup is the same receiver in SDI input mode with an HDMI to SDI converter. Specs of this adapter declares that it supports 8 channel, and this time 8 VU-meter band appears on the monitor so device is ready to receive multi-channel audio, but…

Hallo, I use Armbian for some time now, usually I can solve all problems myself. Recently, one of my boards has gone bad (or mad?). I started using this particular board on 10/11/2016. Installed Armbian (5.20) from images available on that day. Everything went nice, no problems, pretty much no load for whole days. On 20/12/2016 something began to use 1 core of CPU. No idea what. On 23/12/2016 board stopped responding completely. I haven't accessed/used system from 20/12/2016 so I was not aware of problem. I turned it off later. I removed SD card from board and used with other OrangePi One just fine. But this board behaves strange. I re-installed Armbian and it se…

Hi, After upgrading from Lemaker Lubuntu with 3.4 kernel to the latest Armbian with 4.9 kernel my application that reads INPUT PIN using wiringPi is behaving very strange and unstable. I want to use an ADAU1979 with an olimex A20-Micro. Needs to show up as a device in ALSA, alongside the in- built CODEC - As far as I can see, this driver is in mainline kernel but I have no idea how to configure the kernel build to include it. Obviously we need to tell the system where its i2s/SPI interface is connected etc. Unsure which kernel version (legacy or mainline) to begin with. We do need a desktop environment and the olimex 10"/7" LCD to work also... I am starting this from a position not having built a kernel or kernel modules before so If this idea is a non-starter, someone please tell me so. Thanks.

The clean install also produced sometimes the error or warning but I started to customize the system with enabling overlays and now its cant boot. I copied the messages to pastebin: http://pastebin.com/2NUGVnqt I dont know where can I start the debugging and how to find what is wrong. Hi, I met another weird issue: I tried to setup a static IP address for my NanoPi NEO, which should actually bundle the NanoPI NEO's GigE MAC address and the static IP. Whenever I reboot the NanoPI NEO, its GigE MAC address changes, and an random IP address is automatically allocated, via DHCP. I mean, the previous MAC address did bundle to the static IP address that I allocated. However, there always exists a 2nd HOST name NanoPINEO which has a NEW MAC address and is allocated to a NEW IP address automatically. I'm not sure if this is an issue of the latest kernel I've just built? Or it is an issue of the FriendlyARM BSP for AllWinner H3 ? I posted …

I recently purchased a number of Orange Pi and Nano Pi boards, and discovered the awesome work of the Armbian team :-) The Orange Pi Plus2 H5 is a rather nice board - built in eMMC, H5, etc. (I wish it had 1GB of RAM but that's a different subject.) I'd love to use these boards for a number of projects. As a test, I modified the DTS for the board (mainline kernel) to enable support for the 1.1v/1.3v switch for VDD-CPUX using the SY8113B on the board. I also enabled the allowed clock changes to 1.2GHz for cpufreq. All of this worked great, but the board was very unstable at anything over 1GHz, which seemed strange, given that the CPU voltage should be swit…

Hi, I just installed the Armbian_5.35_Orangepilite_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.4.113_desktop.img on my 32GB SD card for my new OPi Lite. On start-up the screen res overlaps the monitor a the top and bottom and the screen text is thin, fuzzy and illegible in places. I can see from the Fine Tuning section of the Armbian documentation and a post by tkaiser that the h3disp utility can be used to modify the script.bin file to permanently update the start-up screen res. I have a NEC MultiSync LCD1830 that's optimal res is 1280 x 1024 at 60 Hz to 76 Hz so naturally I'm trying set this resolution. The monitor is connected to the Opi Lite via a VGA to HDMI adaptor. Si…

Hello. I have a problem with Orange Pi Zero LTS. I also have an expansion board and the required 3.5-jack cable. I have read many different forums and sites where people have described problems with video signal output. Often there are solutions such as: 1. Editing the file /boot/script.bin But this file does not exist. 2. They also talk about the launch of "tv". You need to add an entry to /etc/modules. But that doesn't work either, since ./tvout doesn't exist. As I understand it, in new versions there is no TV support, but there is no way to download old versions either. The latest version that can be downloaded is 5.59,…

I want to use GPIO Pi16 on the 13 pin expansion header of the board. This pin is claimed by the kernel for the ethernet MAC. Where can I check out the linux kernel source code for Debian Wheezy 4.4.3 (/usr/src/linux, nothing more nothing less). The reason is that I had a Gentoo system running on Cubieboard 20 with an outdated kernel, and my attempt to build a new kernel was unsuccessful. But copying kernel and modules from Debian Wheezy 4.4.3 was really successful. And I have completely rebuilt the whole Gentoo userland using the Debian Wheezy 4.4.3 kernel. Now I want to re-generate a new 4.4.3 (or newer) kernel using Gentoo genkernel command. For that I only need linux source code. I suspect that the source codes from kernel.org need special patches.

I liked very much the login info about the the number of available updates, since I used the testing repo at that time. Could someone provide the code snipplet for that piece of info ann thell me, in which file to place it?? Well, many many thanks for your help and advice! regards, ireng

Hi I'm an happy user of : Armbian_5.14_Orangepipc_Debian_jessie_3.4.112_desktop.7z. I don't know if it is bad luck or some obscure legal reason but 2 of my USB dongles needed to add firmware files from other distributions before they worked perfectly: They are : TerraTec Electronic GmbH Cinergy T RC MKII using dvb_usb_af9015 missing dvb-usb-af9015.fw 15913 bytes from 30/03/2015 Ralink Technology, Corp. RT2501/RT2573 Wireless Adapter using rt73usb module missing rt73.bin 2048 bytes from 24/11/2014 I hope those files can be added to ease the life of newbies.

Hi Struggling here with Orange's GPIO so I would be glad to see any pointer to a working gpio example for 3.4.x kernel. Even a simple one pin state switching would be great. Christos
