Hello All, I have Orange Pi lite which I would like to use as an Airplay device, I have purchased a DAC of the internet and I am trying to connect it via the i2s protocol, According to this tutorial i need to edit the script.bin file to change the I/O configuration of the board. it was mentioned that this file is found in the boot folder, I have been looking and can find this file absolutely no where. What I have done, I downloaded Armbian, written it to a bootable SD card, mounted the SD card and then setup the orange pi via serial communication, I then connected to my WIFI, and set up SSH. I then logged …

  3. Hi, I'm trying to interface a USB module via the usb pins (USB-DM2 and USB-DP2 - Pin 3 and 4 on the 13-pin header) and powered by the 5V and GND pin (Pin 1 and 2 on the 13-pin header) on the Orange Pi Zero board. During startup/reboot of the Orange Pi Zero, the module fails to get recognised and come up( output of lsusb and dmesg do not show any usb devices). The module, however gets recognised and works fine when plugged out and back in. Are there any extra steps that I have to take in order to make the module get recognised during bootup? Any help regarding the matter would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I run Armbian 20.02.1 stable on a zeropi which is used as a wireguard server and spotify direct client (USB to external DAC). Things run very well. Many thanks to everyone involved in keeping Armbian such a great distro! I noticed that when I turn on the ondemand governor the system becomes very unresponsive and music playback is stuttering. When I use the performance governor (even with min and max frequency both set to 480MHz) things run just fine. Most of the time 480MHz will be sufficient, but it would be nice to be able to take advantage of the ondemand governor. Any help is greatly appreciated.

  6. I want to completely disable display subsystem on Orange Pi Zero LTS (Debian 12 (Bookworm) minimal/IoT build 1 oct 2024). I blacklisted the GPU modules (lima, gpu_sched, drm_shmem_helper), but i can't find a way to disable sun4i-drm. Is there a way to disable it completely w/o recompiling the kernel?

Hello, I am new to armbian and am quite impressed of the ease of installation and use. I copied the vanilla headless Debian jessy to a spare SD and the board booted right away. So first of all, many thanks to the developers! I rely on GPIO for my application of the board, so I first tested the export of a GPIO. Normally, the kernel from Olimex gives me something like "gpio64_pg0", which is not very compatible to the programs out in the internet (e.g. OpenHAB.org which I use), so – with this kernel – I was happy to get a standard "gpio1" when echoing "1" to "export". But as soon as I tried to change the direction echo out > gpio1/direction the whole board…

  11. Hi, When Armbian starts loading kernel (just after showing loading kernel), the screen just gets scattered and Cubieboard2 shuts down. The Mainline on the other hand boots without a problem. Can I do something to get more info about what causes the problem, as I would like to be able to run the Legacy 3.4.113 version. The scatter is similar to this image: Thanks!

  13. Hi, I bought an orangepi zero H5 and I try to setup armbian on sd card. I write the image with etcher but there is no screen display when I boot. I wait long time about 10mn, my card is 16Gb, but no display on my hdmi tv. I test Armbian_5.27_Orangepizeroplus2-h5_Ubuntu_xenial_dev_4.11.0 , and the nightly build Armbian_5.27.170520_Orangepizeroplus2-h5_Ubuntu_xenial_dev_4.11.1 but it is the same story: no display. I test the official Ubuntu from Orangepi there is no problem, the boot is fast and I get display on my tv. Do you have some advice ? Thanks. G*

  18. (Edit: it's a red herring for me to worry about swap. Please see a few posts down...) Hello. My NanoPi Neo 2 only has 512MB RAM. I'm using it for OpenMediaVault. It starts swapping very badly (totally paralysing it) when I FTP 60GB worth of tiny files into an attached 500GB SSD SATA drive (attached with the NAS kit). Yes, ProFTPd is RAM-hungry! I know how to create and work with traditional linux swap files. I'm a noob to this whole zram thing, which I suspect is more trouble than it's worth. I would prefer to not use zram, and use a traditional swap file on an attached 6TB 3.5" SATA drive (attached over USB 2.0 with UAS). It's a backup dri…

The SoC temperature reading in armbianmonitor reaches above 80C easily. When i log in via ssh after boot the temperature reads usually 60-65 C and normal operations easily cross 70C. This is my first SBC so I am not sure if this is normal? Can anyone tell me if these temperature readings are notmal or do i need heatsink to cool down my system? Thanks in advance.

Hi you all, I have flashed a good, tested and reliable 32GB SD card with the last build for Orange PI Win (armbian 5.38) and when first updating, it stucks in "waiting for headers" for too long. I was quite surprised to see that the pcduino3nano is now deprecated, while other A20 boards are still supported. What was the exact reason that the pcduino3nano was dropped from support? If I keep using the deprecated OS, can I fully use apt update/upgrade for all user stuff? What would happen to all kernel and u-boot update packages? Is the latest armbian for the pcduino3nano automatically disabling those updates, or do I need to do something manually? *should* I block kernel & u-boot updates? thanks, Michale Jasson

Just for the case I tried to create a backup of my sd card and created an image using dd if=/dev/sdX of=/backup.img And now the "unforseen" happened and I needed to create a new sd card. When copying the image back with dd if=/backup.img of=/dev/sdX I will get a newly created image but I am not able to boot anymore using this card. And it is getting even worse. When interrupting the boot process and issuing the relevant boot commands (run loadkernel; run setargs; bootm 0x48000000) in uBoot directly the system is running perfectly whereas the unattended boot wi…

  55. Hi, I just got a NanoPi Neo Plus2 for which I must prepare an image for our software. Basically I must have a working Ethernet-over-USB, Wifi and NIC. I started with your current Debian image compiled with uses Armbian v8.75 and Linux kernel v4.19.20. In this image Wifi works, but loading the g_ether module does not seem to work. I assume I need to patch the kernel to make this happen, which means I need to build my own images. So I created a Virtualbox environment as described in the documentation, and compiled an image with all the defaults (apart from a date-tag I add to the kernel name for identification). However the first one, although I have tried several SD cards, did not continue after loading the kernel. The monitor shows a noisy image and stop working. I couldn't connect to it with SSH either. The reason I want to use the older kernel is because it has NAND Flash support and video HW acceleration support (as stated in armbian.com). Please point me to right direction. Regards.

At boot everything works fine and the display shows u-boot and kernel outputs but when the kernel starts the sun4i-drm driver the display freezes and turns white after some seconds. dmesg says: [ 11.178221] sun4i-drm display-engine: bound 1e00000.display-frontend (ops 0xc09986d4) [ 11.178361] sun4i-drm display-engine: bound 1e20000.display-frontend (ops 0xc09986d4) [ 11.178858] sun4i-drm display-engine: bound 1e60000.display-backend (ops sun4i_backend_ops [sun4i_backend]) [ 11.179226] sun4i-drm dis…

  92. Hi, I started using pinebook armbian buster when it was beta, it worked. From that beta I upgraded yeysterday and I see no display (LCD) after kernel starts (I only see the boot). The same using a new official image [1] I know there is another places to track this issue [2], but the thing is that in the official image page [1] it says it is fully working and that is not true. There are two options: - changing the status to something beta (like before) so you are less responsible of problems - putting an image that works [1] https://www.armbian.com/pinebook-a64/ [2] https://armbian.atlassian.net/browse/AR-443

  93. Good morning, I'm trying to activate PWM by hardware to use wiringpi. I activate the PWM option from Armbian config hardware, but it doesn't seem to have any effect, and UART0 doesn't seem to be deactivated. I'm not sure if there's any issue or if I'm doing something else wrong. The build is Armbian 22.11.1 Jammy with Linux 5.15.80-sunxi. Thanks for the help!

  94. This started happening since accepting the kernel when I used apt to upgrade the BananaPi Pro sbc I've got. armbianmonitor report: https://paste.armbian.com/izuboducul @teknoid are you aware of this?

  98. Been trying to use a DS18B20 with the Lamobo R1 and the last ArmBian, without success. As I have already an RTC in the first pins, connected it as follows: PIN 16=GPI04 / DATA PIN 17=3.3V PIN 20=GND I also added the required resistor between 3.3V and GPI04. Add to /etc/modules w1_sunxi w1_gpio w1_therm Added to my fex file: [w1_para] w1_used = 1 gpio = 16 Modified my dts: pinctrl@01c20800 { .... my_w1_pin@0 { allwinner,pins = "PH16"; allwinner,function = "gpio_in"; allwinner,drive = <0x0>; …

  99. Hi, I received a Banana Pi M2+ board on which I installed ARMBian. Their is only one problem for sound. Audio out is only available on HDMI. As I will use this board with no display, keyboard and mouse connection how may I get this board playing sound ? Two ways but I do not know which one is possible : 1) does it exist an HDMI to sound 3.5mm jack adapter ? 2) which USB bluetooth dungle works perfectly on ARMBian I may use to pair this board to a portable bluetooth speaker ? Sincerely thanks. Have a nice day. Miguipda ;-)

  100. Hey all, Have been using my Banana Pro w/ Armbian & a 1tb HDD as a Micro Home Server w/ Bittorrent Sync/Samba Shares/Webmin. I attempted to install Syncthing from the install script and it errored after saying "package cant be opened" It became unresponsive to commands. I powered it off then on again and it says "Bad crc error" at boot & seems to find its dhcp IP but hangs.. Google searches havent helped me resolve the issue, thanks.
