Hi I am new in the forum and the happy owner (as of yesterday) of an Orange Pi Lite. Nice little board. I managed to install Armbian server, configure Wi-Fi upgrade and install apache / php and mrtg. I also was able to enable one wire protocol to play around with a DS18B20 thermometer. My idea is to create an automated garden watering system with nice stats (graphs) I already have a 4 channel relay board (to connect solenoid water valves), a DS18B20 to sense temperature, an LDR to graph sunlight hours and 4 hygrometers --moisture sensors--. Those I want to connect through an I2C ADS1115 ADC module (which I also already have). …

  3. I got an Orange Pi PC with Armbian Ubuntu Desktop installed. It runs perfectly fine. 1080p resolution, sound, ethernet, browsing, what-have you. It can even play x265 videos flawlessly (which is why I got it for as my RPi3 can't). Highest temp is 46C so far (with or without a heat sink and no fan). Anyway, I've updated and upgraded and then installed Kodi. My media is on my NAS, so I input my SMB info, and it connects fine. But as it reads the media, Kodi just shuts off on its own. No crash report or anything. It just closes and I'm back on the desktop. Re-opening it starts Kodi up for a sec and then closes itself. Deleting the user folder under a Kodi directo…

  5. Started by jstefanop,

We have deployed the zero for an integrated MCU on one of our products, and in rare occasions we are experience random lockups of the MCU (possibly related to overheating). Its pretty much impossible to debug this since it happens very rarely, but we are trying to mitigate all possible causes. The MCU is controlling a bigger and more expensive board and a fan. If there are internal failsafes that are being triggered by the MCU and locking it up (like temp) we want to disable as many of them as possible (we would rather have the MCU burn up than our main board). Anyone have any insights on orange pi zero OTP or OCP in kernel or uboot parameters we can disable?

  7. Hi I want to use my orange pi zero to stream music from my NAS and some internet radio stations. I want a good remote control from my phone so I want to use yatse to control Kodi. 8. Hi, I have noticed very strange behaviour of my OrangePi PC Plus. Device is connected to internet via Wifi. After successful connection, device is connected to VPN service. A cron script is checking every minute if VPN is working, and if not, it is restarting connection. On every hour, Network Manager is being restarted (you will see why is that so later). On every minute NTP is querryed for time synchronisation. After VPN restart or rebooting of device, device sends an e-mail notification via GMail. On eth0 there is DHCP server running (dnsmasq), which is providing internet to a device connected to OrangePi. So basically, you plug in ethernet cabl…

  25. Good night, I have the sound problem but with hdmi audio, de default is the 3.5 mm audio jack, then I looked for the asound.conf in /etc, then I found that this file doesn't exist and after that I've created it with the following content: pcm.!default { type hw card 1 device 0 } ctl.!default { type hw card 1 } the problem is that even created this way the sound output still being the 3.5 mm jack and I don't know if I need to change some setting to mpv player to output the sound through hdmi. What else can I do to change the sound from audio jack to hdmi?

  26. This seems like a really simple problem, but I can't find any pointers on any forums. I am running a NanoPiNEO2 (Allwinner H5) using the latest Armbian build DISTRIB_ID=Ubuntu DISTRIB_RELEASE=16.04 DISTRIB_CODENAME=xenial DISTRIB_DESCRIPTION="Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS" I am trying all ways to save power. For most of the time, I do not need to use the Ethernet interface (I am using the USB interfaces for comms). I have tried all the obvious commands such as ifdown, and explored ethtool, but nothing I do makes any difference to the current consumption of the device. I expect i am missing something obvious - any help gratefully accepted.

  27. So trying to run some GPIO interrupts using wiringpi. Using the wiringPiISR function and setting and interrupt handler seems to work, but as soon as the first interrupt happens, the handler gets stuck in some sort of loop and just get infinitely called. Pretty sure this is some bug in sys, since the wiringPiISR function just uses sys gpio calls to do the interrupts. Could be wrong and just be an issue with how wiringPi does it. Either way has anyone come across this and know of a workaround to fix this?

One or more USB ports are getting unresponsive (sometimes all four of them) and no messages in dmesg about connection/disconnection. No matter what device is used. 34. Maybe this is not strictly related to Orange Pi PC but a few weeks ago I had problems with booting my device - mainly OpenELEC and I had to debug it somehow using serial port and the terminal. Unfortunately my PC is rather far from the place where I keep OPiPC. So I was forced to prepare separate device - cheap STM32 MCU based terminal display with 2.2" LCD screen directly supplied from Orange Pi PC 3.3V. It can be used also with other devices which allow serial console debugging. Watch below videos for more details and the code: Maybe someone finds it useful.

  38. I'm trying to configure the RTL8189FTV module on an Orange Pi+ 2E in SoftAP + STA mode so I can use it as wifi hotspot. According to this old document from Realtek (http://www.ofeixin.com/downloadRepository/8da8dda7-6721-4ac8-a7db-47cc4d9b218c.pdf), it's possible to do so using an RTL8189ETV, so I'm assuming it's possible on the RTL8189FTV, too. The default driver doesn't allow concurrent connections like this, tho, so it must be recompiled. It uses spi and uart to communicate with the pi. I have it running without issues on my orange pi zero, even though the pinheader is a little too large. And via a breadboard I can access all pins just fine. But since I am making my own PCB anyway, I am interested in using the stamp version. The only difference between the stamp and the pi-hat version (aside from the form-factor and pin-out) is that the pi-hat version has an additional eeprom chip to tell the rapsberry pi about the function of the pins apparently. 50. Hi all, I'm puzzled how everybody is building clusters of cheap SBC's, but nobody is implementing HA, redundancy, resiliency, failover, etc. They're just SBC's networked together. The SBC's are underprovisioned for Ceph, so I think that even if a Ceph configuration was managed to be shoehorned in, it wouldn't perform well. I don't know if DRDB is an option. How are people actually doing implementing real clustering technology on Orange Pi, for example? I'm using OPi+2E. Kind regards, Andrew

What if I build my personal emulationstation + lastest kodi on top of lastest armbian? Can I install armbian and then emustation and kodi? Do I have to install all emulator one by one? or I could use retroarch? Can I setup armbian to boot emustation? I think could be a good thing also for study

I'm using flir's usb 3.1 camera with OrangiPi 3. default value for usbfs_memory (/sys/module/usbcore/parameters/usbfs_memory_mb) is 16. I should change it to a 1000 to be able to use full size image acquiring. testing this number, the higher I set it the higher image size I can get until 256mb. above 256, max image size is aprox 3200x2736 pixels (I need 5472x3648). so I guess somewhere in usbcore / kernel there is additional limit. 60. Hi, I would like to run Armbian Stretch (mainline kernel 4.14.y) on Bananapi M1. Board has an issue - sd card detect pin is broken. In legacy kernel 3.4.y there was an easy workaround to change paramter sdc_detmode = 1 to sdc_detmode = 3 in /boot/script.bin file. How would I do this on 4.14 kernel which as I understand doesn't use script.bin anymore? I setup Virtualbox with Ubuntu 18.04 and I can compile image with default options. I only need guidance in what parameter and in which file to change.

  74. Wondering if there's anything similar to retroarch or mednafen that'll work for armbian on a pcduino3? I can't get the former to compile/install and the latter gives me guff about not being able to find a GLX visual when it tries to load video. It's worth noting that I'm pretty green when it comes to Linux, especially when it comes to "exotic"/SoC builds. I have nothing against learning, but I've found the signal-to-noise ratio for this product in particular is very poor and a lot of the info is woefully obsolete.

Is there a way to enable an internal pull-up on Rx so that this doesn't happen? I suspect it's the cause of communication errors that I observe. I am using the Desktop version with legacy kernel provided from Armbian - https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-plus-2/ I have tried to fix my overscan issues on my SHARP LC-42ADE-BK from the Aquos series. I had zero luck in resolving the issue. I used the documentation available on the Sunxi-wiki for FEX configuration ( http://linux-sunxi.org/Fex_Guide ) scavanged the internet for all kinds of information for configuring the scale/overscan etc. with u-boot/fex and such. Unfortunatly my TV does not let me choose Aspect ratio or such fucntions when my Laptop or OPI device is pluged with HDMI…

  98. Hello, I have an image based on Armbian 5.37 and I have noticed that after upgrading linux-jessie-root-lime2 from 5.37 to 5.60, the Lime2 was not able to get an IP for eth0. The only way is to execute dhclient eth0 I have noticed that a lot of file was added in linux-jessie-root-lime2_5.60_armhf/data/usr/lib/armbian and I think that one of them are responsible of this issue. Do you have any idea on how to fix that ? Thanks

  100. Hi there, Orange Pi PC+, Armbian Stretch. What I want is to replicate current router (OpenWRT Barrier Breaker on TP-LINK MR3220 v1) on and Orange Pi. I use this router to "share" (using scp from host PC) an USB flash dongle (remote site backup). With its processor copying filer over WiFi SCP is terribly slow (1.2MB/sec). Network Manager "proposes" me to create an WiFi network, but with only NO security or only WEP. I use WPA personal. Configuration on router wlan0 as an AP (WPA), wlan0-1 as WiFi client (also WPA different SSID) with WDS enabled (to act as bridge member), eth0 as usual. All those 3 interfaces bridged together an …
