I've change OpiZero's cpu from H2+ to H5, and made linux5.4.65 image with the option of "Orangepiplus (H5)" of the Build-Package which described in the Orangepi manual. Hello, community. For a while now, I've been trying to configure the input and output of i2s0 without success. The closest I've come to a result was with the adau7002 configuration, but I'm experiencing synchronous noise, as if the issue were related to a CLK. Let me provide some details to see if anyone can guide me. I have a Banana Pi M2 with Armbian 23.11.1 Bookworm and Linux 6.1.13-current-sunxi. I have a pcm1807 connected to the input, configured with SPI, outputting i2s left justified in 24bit, and operating as a master. The pcm is connected to a 24.5MHz crystal. My goal is to configure the system to capture audio in a generic i2s format and then play it b…

It should be configured in /boot/armbianEnv.txt, but I unsuccess on zero2w, so you must comment out two lines and compile it by yourself. Maybe help someone. sun50i-h616-pps-gpio.dtso

Hello everyone. I'm kind of new in this SBC bussiness. I'm looking for a way to enable the ethernet port of the expansion board on this device. Hardware wise the port works on Dietpi, but the GPU works better on this version of armbian (Armbian Linux 6.19.9-edge-sunxi64). Anyone who could tell me o point me to the right direction? Thanks.

I am currently in the middle of a build using Debian Wheezy on cubieboard1's that requires a 2nd network interface, I have purchased 3 different USB3.0 to Ethernet interfaces, all of which turned out to be Asix ax88179 chipsets. Hello everyone, Please beg my pardon if the question might seem “stupid†but I searched quite a bit without finding a solution. I’m using the ARMBIAN version of Debian Jessie on my Banana Pro with a great dose of satisfaction and I have noticed that the message about “system status†which appears on the first SSH Login Screen after each reboot provides a very useful insight into my system. From my researches I think I have understood that this is called “MOTD†(message of the day) and it is supposed to appear only once per session. I would like to display this message every time I open a new SSH Connection windows to my device, so to always have that i…

Little question: i did an apt-get upgrade with latest armbian 5.11, there linux-u-boot-orangepiplus_5.11_armhf was installed automatically. Did i have to write u-boot-sunxi-with-spl.bin manually to partition with dd? And if yes, to which partition (armbian is installed to emmc, i have mmcblk0p1, mmcblk0boot0 and mmcblk0boot1)? Thx

In Ubuntu Xenial how do we disable framebuffer switching and font switching? My Orange Pi Plus 2e v1.1 has the usual problem with HDMI-to-DVI converters but it's unusual in this case because it's switching framebuffers and fonts. The screen appears just fine during boot, but just after the message "Starting kernel..." the screen blanks and goes into power-saving poweroff with no return. I've seen this before, and I have tried several things to prevent the dead screen. I tried editing /boot/armbianEnv.txt to contain these lines like I have on other SBCs like PINE A64 and older Orange Pi devices that solved this problem: disp_mode=720p60 disp_dvi_compat=1 I …

Hello Armbian community. Recently, I decided do try new distros for the Cubieboard 2. and Armbian seemed to be a really good option. However, just booting the latest image started to cause problems. After writing the image with the proper software on a proper SD card as mentioned by this webpage, it just doesn't work at all. To be brief, I took pictures of what appears on the screen, first being what seems like to be an error displayed by text, then a really messed up screen, and finally the board shutting down by itself. I would appreciate any help or recommendations regarding this issue.

Hello, I recently purchased a Banana Pi M2, and downloaded the latest desktop image to my SanDisk 32gb MicroSD card. Everything boots-up. However, the only interface that seems to be able to get onto the internet properly is wlan0 (Wireless). Ethernet, regardless of DHCP (registers properly) or Static does not seem to route properly. For example, I am not able to ping or SSH the device from another PC, and the Pi (itself) cannot ping/access any local IPv4 address as well. Internet access fails, and points to DNS not working properly (even though servers are specified). Tried many different methods, including taking management/control away from "NetworkManager", but …

Hardware: Orange Pi One with a CF-WU810N (Realtek 8188eus) USB WiFi dongle Software: [MAINLINE] - ARMBIAN 5.38 stable Debian GNU/Linux 9 (stretch) 4.14.14-sunxi Goal: Configure and run the Orange Pi One HEADLESS (using a physical ethernet during initial configuration) I've been away from armbian for awhile, so it looks like I've got some catching up to do. Hello fellas, I would like to borrow your experience to compete with my task which counts (and measures) pulses on GPIO with Orange Pi zero. Currently, my simple solution is to register a callback to a specific edge and increment a global variable. I would like to catch a few hundreds of pulses in one burst which have in a 5-100 us length. However, even the number of counted pulses is not okay. Some of them are missed sometimes, which leads to an unreliable solution. I used different libs and all of them fall into the same issue. I tried the following libs: * ArmbianIO (C) * ArmbianIO (Python: origina…

Hi, after I made a software-update for my Cubitruck last week, my VGA monitor shows text only up to "starting kernel", then turns black. HDMI still works. I tried to reinstall the newest versions of both Ubuntu Bionic and Debian Stretch, both show this problem. The old VGA monitor is used only for maintenance work on my home server and off most of the time, it would be a shame if I had to buy a new HDMI monitor for this purpose. What is going on? Thanks Engelbert

In an effort to enable Bluetooth on the OrangePi (Lite2 | 3) I am stuck at enabling UART1 via overlay. According to the schematics, the AP6255 is connected via UART1 (PG6-PG9) to the H6 SoC but not defined in the dtb. Since there is a dtbo which looks promising at /boot/dtb/allwinner/overlay/sun50i-h6-uart1.dtbo I tried adding an overlay to /boot/armbianEnv.txt - manually and via armbian-config. Both did not work out. In addition, I also tried adding uart1 to the dtb, without success. What am I missing?

Good morning all I have an OPi Zero H2 with the official expansion card. My goal is to make an Airport module to connect a speaker to it. The installation of Shairport in APT all is ok I can see the sharing on my iPhone. But the problem is that I have no sound when I plug a speaker into the 3.5mm jack port on the expansion card. I have correctly installed the "analog-codecs" and made a reboot. In Alsamixer I put "Line-Out" and "DAC" to the maximum (red). But still no sound ... When in doubt, I did all these operations on Armbian Focal / Buster / Bionic but it didn't change anything. Can you help me please? believe me I have tried everything for 4 da…

Hi! The jessy vanilla image works fine, but when I boot the Olinuxino Micro with a SATA HDD connected, I don't have ethernet/ssh access anymore. Even reboot _without_ the HDD doesn't work, I need to restore the content of /boot with an SD-card-reader to make it work again. Sorry, I am (yet) not really into sunxi/uboot/kernel topics, so maybe there's a simple explanation to this behaviour?

I've had success with Armbian runing on Orange Pi One and pcDuino2. I'm using the legacy kernels on these boards. Today I've got a pcDuino3B - similar to pcDuino3 except it has GB ethernet from the pcDuino3 nano. I tried legacy kernels for both the 3 and the 3 nano. No cpu load problems but the GbE does not appear to be configured in the 3 image. 3 nano works on both ethernet and wifi so I'm wondering whether to stick with this one and see if there are any other differences. Hi all, recently my Banana Pi Pro running Armbian 26.5.1 with Debian Trixie received a kernel update from 6.16.8 (which it has been running on for quite a while without issues) to 7.0.12. Since then, it randomly freezes shortly after booting, sometimes I also can see a kernel panic (see attached pictures). Has anyone else run into this issue? What can I do to fix this? The old kernel no longer appears to be present in /boot, which makes it difficult to return to another kernel (trying to run something like apt-get typically quickly results in the aforementioned freeze).

I'm trying to get a csi cam from aliexpress to work on my orange pi one running Armbian_5.10_Orangepih3_Debian_jessie_3.4.112. I've modified the fex and tried modding the gc2035 kernel driver, and tried several different applications. Everything has failed so far. Are there any resources that describe what I need to do to get it to work? All hardware is new (with a 3a power supply too). Armbian seems to be the best distro to use, and I think I'm running the latest armbian version which includes many fixes. I've also updated and upgraded the os once installed to include anything fixed upstream. This is the aliexpress cam I got for the orange pi one: http://bit.ly…

I am trying to connect a SNBC receipt printer to my Banana Pi - model number: BTP-r580(II) However, dmesg shows that whilst it is identified as a USB device, it is not identified as a printer (probably not helped by the fact that all of their receipt printers appear to have idVendor = 0x154f and idProduct = 0x154f Whilst their website (http://www.newbeiyang.com) has downloads for linux drivers, once connected there is no /dev/usb nor a dev/ttyUSB0 directory (in case it is recognised as a serial device). The linux drivers appear to be used for CUPs which is not installed, so I have not downloaded them. Someone else has the same problem on the Raspberry Pi wi…

So I have a nanopi m1 and a neo. I'm running Ubuntu Xenial on them: https://www.armbian.com/nanopi-neo/ I'm attempting to access the gpio, when I attempt to echo to /sys/class/gpio/export I get permission denied (sudo or not, even if logged in as root). I've also found this library for python to handle gpio on the nanopi: https://github.com/jrspruitt/FriendlyARM_Python_GPIO But when I use it, it says: as root root@nanopineo:/home/admin# python test.py Traceback (most recent call last): File "test.py", line 7, in <module> gpio.gpio_init(16, 1) File "build/bdist.linux-armv7l/egg/fgpio/fgpio.py", line 85, in gpio_init File "build/…

I am running the desktop Ubuntu Xenial legacy image from https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-plus/. My goal is to setup the system for gaming, so I am looking to get the accelerated GPU performance. A couple questions: 1. Does this image run with an accelerated driver enabled by default? When loading applications that use GL, I see a log about not being able to load the mali driver. 2. If not, where can I get the driver and how can it be enabled? I know that distributions like RetrOrangePi include this by default, but I want to understand what they are loading so I can setup the system on my own. Thank you!

Hi, On upgrading to 5.35 Ubuntu Xenia default 3.4.113 I am unable to get DVI video working, I am presented with a pink screen. Monitor is a 1280x1024 dvi connected via HDMI-DVI converter cable. I am configuring this with h3disp -m 1280x1024 -d. I have rolled back to a 5.30 image and everything works as it should. Possibly a bug? How can I upgrade everything in the distro without breaking the video again? Thanks.

I must have missed the discussion about not having a desktop version for this board. Does anybody know why this option is not available? Now that I finally have the Bluetooth working, I can use it as a proper desktop. I have "simulated" a desktop build by following the Armbian build script... installing all the packages for xfce4, but it lacks some functionality (namely the notification icons). It would be really nice to have a proper Armbian desktop on this board. Thanks.

Hi folks, I am trying for couple of days now to put Lime1 to sleep and then wake it up, both by software and user interaction. Problem description: I am able to put board to sleep with any of the following commands: rtcwake -m standby -s 10 echo "standby" > /sys/power/state When device is on battery I can see it consuming ~0.7A while it works normally and once i execute one of the above commands it drops down to about ~0.25A leading me to conclusion that device has indeed in sleep. as per title, armbian sucks. The last version is totally broken, unusable. Only one quarter of the screen is readable, the rest is black: why nobody has said that? Why nobody says that vlc and mpv crashes every 2 min making watching a movie impossible? The once half-decent armbian is ready for the bin now

Hello! I'm planning to try using kodi with my cubietruck. Should I use desktop ubuntu image, or can I customize the legacy debian one? One those things is returning memory reservations. If I get it right I should edit uboot config and add: sunxi_ve_mem_reserve=128M cma=128+16M Am I correct? Are there any other changes I should change in default config to run kodi smoothly? I'd go with debian if it's possible, but I can switch to ubuntu, if there's alot to change in 3.4 debian image.

Hello list, a big thank you to all the developers of Armbian. I am a newbie to arm boards, have limited experience with various linuxes and definitely not enough know-how to progam anything or to compile kernels or build images, and things like u-boots are warships for me. Without your great software images my cubietruck would probably have been an investment into electronic scrap! A short user-feedback: Why does a normal consumer want to use a cubieboard? Hi all, I'm not very familiar with linux scripting especially for controlling GPIO on Orange Pi. So my question is: is it possible to connect a fan to a GPIO port that is activated when temperature goes above a given value? Does anyone have a script for that or can suggest how to get it done? I have a plastic housing for the board and a fan attached to it that is constantly running. But for 95% of the time I don't have load on the pi and don't need the fan... Thanks in advance

Hello everyone, This is my first post, but i've been using armbian for almost one year (https://twitter.com/logicite/status/682267764384501760), so : thank you for your work ! This time, i can't find anything, so i'm asking for your help : A few months ago i was able to use the onboard sound card on the BananaPro. It was showing up in alsamixer and in aplay -l. I bought an Orange Pi PC "Set 9" that came with ribbon camera module (total 20 eur) to compare with Raspberry 3. After finally getting it to take a picture using fswebcam I find the images very low quality. Most passable without any extra lighting is 640x480. 800x600 and 1600x1200 produce nearly black images. Using Raspberry 3 with similarly priced chinese camera produce much better images with lower lighting. Am I missing something or is the camera quality this bad in comparison? I usually expect OK results from "chinese clones" but this is really. The best image I could get was: sudo fswebcam -r 640x480 --fps 25 -p YUV420P cam.jpg

Good morning, first of all sorry for my English, I'm not native and I use a translator. I'm working on a project with the orange pi plus 2e and I need to protect the internal memory emmc, I installed in emmc "ARMBIAN 5.25 stable Debian GNU / Linux 8 (jessie) 3.4.113-sun8i" and I ask myself the following: How can I protect the internal memory so that it is not accessible by inserting an SD card and mounting the emmc partition? That is, I give my client the orange pi configured and no sd card inserted, starts with emmc, but if someone inserts an sd card with any image for this card can mount the internal partition and access the contents. I've looked at encryp…

I am just getting started using the Orange Pi Zero and installed Xenial 4.10.1. Currently I am using Python and am able to address the GPIO pins (using this project: https://github.com/duxingkei33/orangepi_PC_gpio_pyH3) However, I need to communicate with a serial device (projector) using RS232 on 9600 BAUD. For this, the built-in UART should do the trick (with an additional voltage converter). Does anyone know how I can address this device from Python? Alternatively, is there a way to clock" an GPIO output to 9600 BAUD and manually send the data? Thanks, Ezpl

Hi, I own the first Orange Pi (A20, VGA, HDMI, NAND, 4xUSB, WiFi). I notice there is no Armbian image for download anymore. The last one I still have is a 3.4.113, 5.25 Ubuntu/Xenial-default-desktop (currently running from the NAND very well, but I can't seem to run the wifi in AP mode). Is Armbian for this board is dropped for good ? Is there a way to update my 5.25 to last version without breaking everything ? Or maybe convert a A20 image to this board, using the working image I'm currently using ? Thanks !

Hi when I use the orangepi PC plus TRRS audio output (analog), I have some glitches which are linked to the video mouvment. I've tested the connection between ground and video and it seems that on the left ground pin there is a natural link with video output (50 ohms), is this normal? my cable is a 4 pole TRRS. I even tested audio with cable directly plug on soldering but same result. How could I get a clean audio output? note that the hdmi audio output is clean. and my speaker system is clean if I plug it on a MP3 player with an audio jack. I use retrorangepi 4.2 which is based upon Armbian v5.54 (default legacy kernel)

The problem I have an USB endoscope camera that works fine with my Orange Pi lite's normal USB port. I know, using an old Banana Pi M1 for desktop doesn't make sense at all. I would prefer having help or/and advice clearing the problems I've encountered, instead a discussion why I'm testing a desktop environment on a BPi M1. Tested with Armbian 21.08.01 Buster / 5.10.60 After the initial boot nano or / and armbian-config doesn't work. A reboot solves this issue. After the second boot I changed verbosity to 7 and console to serial. All other changes where made throu armbian-config. Changing Pi's name works, but changing console's layout doesn't. Never mind, that is a minor problem, which can easily solved by hand. So I did "firmware upgrade" and rebooted m…

Greetings, I recently purchased an Orange Pi Zero for the purpose of Pi-Hole. I have been running Pi-Hole on a Raspberry Pi-1 under Jessie and the stability was great. I never had to worry about it. However, with Orange Pi Zero, running Armbian/Jessie as well, I get a maximum of 2 days of up-time. This is a standard armbian/jessie installation with only pi-hole installed. Since there is no video output (I did not purchase the extension board), I had to perform a power-off/on. Without ruling out the possibility of hardware fault (SD card or USB power supply), does anyone have stability problem of Armbian/Jessie on Orange Pi Zero? …

Platform oPi Plus 2E with Armbian 5.31 (Legacy). I have configured a WiFi adaptor, and it works fine in connecting to an existing hotspot. When I attempt to use network manager applet (or nm-connection-editor/nmtui from a root prompt) to create an Ad-hoc network I am getting permissions errors. For NM TUI it is 'Unable to save connection: Insufficient privileges.', and similar for the other methods. Can anyone give me some pointers on how to diagnose and/or fix this? From the research I have done the nm-applet error is likely a simple config error (not set up to run as root for this function), but the other avenues failures seem odd.

Hello. I'm writing a program that requires sound.target. I was reading about sound.target and how it's a special systemd unit that doesn't load until the system finds the sound card. Armbian takes quite a bit of time to find the sound card on the OPi, around 30 seconds. Or, maybe it's something else that's making it take so long. I was wondering if there was a way I could mess around with systemd or something else to make the sound card found faster, thus sound.target and my program loading faster upon powering on the device. Thank you

Hello Armbian community, Firstly, thank you for the amazing work that you do. Having Armbian has made the setup process so simple, and I really appreciate that I'm completely new to the world of SBCs and Armbian (but not Linux), and this issue had me stumped for a long time. I wanted to share the solution for those who are in the same position as me, as I only found this on Raspberry Pi resources. Sorry if this has already been covered elsewhere in the forums - my searches didn't show any answers from here, and additionally, I keep getting time-locked (forced to wait 30sec) for every forum search. I've tinkering with this board, and trying to boot from spl, but the boot halts after reading the temperature sensors, which does not happen when booting from the sd card. After booting from the sd card I read the sensor that causes the problem # cat /sys/devices/virtual/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp 51740 I found in a forum some kernel patches to mitigate this: https://forum.manjaro.org/t/support-for-orangepi-zero2-h616-ddr3-zero3-and-zero-2w-h618-lpddr4/154679 Why does it fail when booting from spl, and not when booting from the sd? Here is the system info: # cat /etc/armbian-release # PLEASE …

I switched armbian repo to stable via armbian-config 24.11.2. The first thing it did, judging by /var/log/apt/history.log, was purging linux-image*: Start-Date: 2025-01-04 22:47:25 Commandline: apt-get -o APT::Status-Fd=4 -o APT::Keep-Fds::=5 -o APT::Keep-Fds::=6 -y purge linux-image* Requested-By: user (1000) Purge: linux-image-current-sunxi64:arm64 (24.11.1) End-Date: 2025-01-04 22:47:27 Then it proceeded to purge and reinstall dtb and armbian-firmware, but not linux-image: Start-Date: 2025-01-04 22:48:34 Commandline: apt-get -o APT::Status-Fd=4 -o APT::Keep-Fds::=5 -o APT::Keep-Fds::=6 -y purge linux-dtb* Requested-By: user (1000) Purge: linux-dtb-cu…

Just made my first GPIO script in python for the Orange Pi One but now am looking for some assistance in getting Armbian to login automatically on boot and run the script as sudo. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

So when I ssh into Armbian on the OPI PC, I see the cpu temperature at 50 degrees Celsius, and the number is red (in the "header"). Should I be worried about that? 1 core is constantly at 70% (this Mycroft is a bit resource hungry), while other cores are at 1% in htop. Thanks for the help in advance! Awesome distro btw!
