Been dreaming of this one for a while. Finally got a weekend to focus on it recently. I'm hoping someone is eager to take what I've done and move It along some more. Here's what we have so far. * a linux 'family' called virtual.conf * a kernel config called linux-virtual-current.config * a board called virtual-qemu.wip The result is a full HVM accelerated armbian image with a kernel compiled with all the virtio drivers for disk, network and video. Also a u-boot.bin made for qemu that can boot the image when used as the qemu bios/firmware I've ran it as a VM on ubuntu using plain qemu on a Ampere eMag box.. and using UTM (qem…

Just wondering if anyone has booted the latest cubox-i test images with kernel 4.9.5 ? I tried the last couple of days with no joy; however I have not got around to full logs / troubleshooting. It looks like it is getting into u-boot OK but then not finding the dtb and drops to the u-boot shell.

when i changed to run the current kernel 5.4.12 the ethernet would work ok, then while transfering over smb/samba to my windows 10 box the ethernet would totally drop, as in the light on my switch went out, not just dropping a few packets!! The only thing that fixed it was to rever "back" to 5.3.11-imx6. Note the change both up to the 5.4.12 and then back to 5.3.11 were performed via the armbian-config tool. (the system is running headless, and the log file does include a boot of "Linux version 5.3.11-imx6" as well as the working 5.3.11 Is anyone else seeing this? JB.

I am using your Debian (jessie) on the new SolidRun Hummingboard-Edge board. [Linux cubox-i 3.14.14-cubox-i #8 SMP Sun Jul 12 19:03:09 CEST 2015 armv7l GNU/Linux] I am planning on using the RS-485 on the board that is tied to UART2. But I noticed that ttymxc0 (UART1) and ttymc3 (UART4) are the only tty ports that have drivers associated with them. [ "dmesg | grep tty" ] How can I turn on the driver that is associated with UART2 (ttymxc1)? Thanks,

Trying to debug this issue. Everything was fine until a recent reboot and now the box is stuck in a boot loop with any supported image downloaded from armbian. I've been focused with debian but the ubuntu doesn't work either. I have tried 3 different microSD cards (samsung and SanDisk) with the same result. I've tried the steps in https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Basic-Troubleshooting/ https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Recovery/ but it appears that the there is something going on with the Linux kernel? changing the verbosity doesn't provide any new information. I have even tried 20.05.1 and still the same behavior. Any though…

I was trying to plug my Arduino uno into my Udoo quad but it does not appear to be assigned to a serial port, which i believe should appear as ttyACM*. when searching the kernel github page i see these relults https://github.com/patrykk/linux-udoo/search?utf8=%E2%9C%93&q=ACM. Is it possible to get these devices supported in your next kernel release?

Hi, I have an issue on my hummingboard i2ex. I installed mpd and configured it with SPDIF. The kernel is 4.9.12-cubox. Unfortunately the sound looks strange. It sounds like a slow motion recording. The load is very load (<0.2) so I think it is not a performance problem. I saw there was an issue with the SPDIF previously but it is a little bit different. Do you have any idea what could be wrong? Is it possible to test it your side? Thanks, Warter

But how can I access /dev/ttymxc3 (uart4)? Is there a pin somewhere on the board that I can connect to so I that I can send serial input to uart4? Thank you.

Hello, I had three power outages in quick succession, I think the second or third one caught the cubox while rebooting. It won't start anymore. I attached pictures of what I see when plugging it into a TV for catching it's messages. How can I unbrick my system without losing all my work on the SD card? I saw how-to-unbrick-the-system, but I'm not sure where to download which files, since I'm not sure if I have NEXT, mainline or legacy installed. Does that even matter at this point?

Hello, I deployed the latest image "Armbian Buster mainline based kernel 5.8.y" and after initial setup, I cannot activate the analog sound card. What I did: The "Hardware" section in "Settings" section of armbian-config was missing, so I installed the following packages: "linux-dtb-current-sunxi/buster 20.11.0-trunk.28 armhf Linux DTB, version 5.9.5-sunxi, linux-dtb-dev-sunxi/buster 20.11.0-trunk.28 armhf Linux DTB, version 5.10.0-rc2-sunxi" and after that changed: /boot/armbianEnv.txt by adding overlay_prefix: "sun8i-h3". This was the only way I could make armbian-config to correctly display the "Hardware" device tree. I tried to put: i…

A couple years back a company named TBS, mostly known for their DTV hardware, released a mini PC styled thing. It's called the TBS2910 Matrix and was marketed mostly as a Kodi box. Sadly it doesn't seem the product made the sales necessary to keep the company interested - which in my view is a shame since it's got some interesting hardware features: Quad-core i.MX6 CPU (1GHz) 2GB DDR3 Ram MiniPCIe slot 16GB eMMC Storage SATA connector with 12V power, capable of powering a 3.5" HDD On-board 2.4GHz Wifi Gigabit ethernet (likely limited to 400Mbps or so) 3 USB 2.0 ports + 1 mini USB otg port 1 full-size SD slot, 1 microSD slot HDMI, analog and optical audio out I…

Hi guys. I can't get the headphone jack to work on the NanoPC T3+ on Armbian 5.44 Bionic. HDMI sound works. There's a second Built-in Audio, but nothing seems to work. Also the on-board microphone doesn't work. I've tested it on the friendlyArm Lubuntu and there it both works. Additional. Can somebody point me into the right direction where to add a higher cpufreq in available frequencies? At 1400Mhz it only reaches 55°C maxed(with fan). Single core performance is bad. So some overclock would be helpful. Otherwise Armbian works great. Thank you. NicoD

Hi everyone, Armbian works well for me on a NanoPi Neo, and installing it on my Cubox i4 was straightforward... but I'd like to try a kernel newer than linux-image-cubox (version 4.14), to get improved video support, and both linux-image-dev-cubox (version 5.2.11) and linux-image-next-cubox (version 5.1.16) do not provide any video output at all. I've uploaded the armbianmonitor report from booting the linux-image-dev-cubox kernel. Help on this would be appreciated!

Hello everyone, just wanted to let you know, upgrade from Armbian Ubuntu 5.38 to 5.44 caused problems on my Cubox-i4Pro. - Armbian Ubuntu 5.38 headless (no display connected to Cubox-i) worked perfectly, there were no issues with anything. - Upgraded Armbian Ubuntu 5.38 to 5.44 (apt-get) and rebooted - After reboot, no audio was sent to my audio amplifier (through Toslink optical cable) by Shairport-Sync 3.1.7 (AirPlay emulator). Hi, My Solidrun Cubox I1-300-D has been running Armbian for quite some time (Samsung EVO SD card). Hi, I'm trying to generate an Armbian image for a custom board. I generated configuration files for card and family, with the necessary information for u-boot and kernel. I need to have separate boot partition in FAT and I added BOOTFS_TYPE="fat". Using the compile.sh in the Armbian "build" repo I get an image, but flashing it on the sdcard does not start uboot. In the boot partition I find not only the kernel and dtb, but also the u-boot scripts. How do you generate an image that contains everything correctly? Thanks in advance Riccardo

Hello, I am using clean 2.9 jessie build on Cubox-i. I am planning to move from 1*bare sata HDD boot to 2*sata HDDs with lvm mirroring. Somebody had tried to boot from lvm on such devices? Is it works out-of-box or need some tweak? Thanks, Yuri.

Hi, I just tried last Debian iso from solidrun where bluetooth is working. It is the only issue I have with my Cubox-i 4x4 working with debian from armbian. But there is always a but..... I can't copy the system to the hard drive and make it work after reboot, only works from sd card. So my point is How can I use the benefits of armbian (it's tools) on another iso where drivers look work fine? thanks.

I have a Cubox that has been running Debian Wheezy for a while and I want to do a clean install of Jessie on it. I downloaded Armbian_5.00_Cubox-i_Debian_jessie_4.4.1 and wrote it to SD card, but it won't boot. The error is: Unknown command 'bootz' I rather suspect that my Cubox is not a Cubox-i - possibly an earlier version that does not support compressed kernels. Is there some way I can work around this? Maybe re-flash the bootloader, or uncompress the kernel on another system perhaps? Thanks Andrew

Hi Igor, my Cubox-i4Pro worked perfectly fine with your Armbian Debian Jessie, until I upgraded from 4.7 to 4.81. After the upgrade was performed today, the system time is always wrong after boot, it is always set to Jan 1 01:00:00 1970. Setting the system time correctly does not help, after reboot it is wrong again. I didn't observe this behavior before upgrade, the system time just used to work without any attention needed. Nothing else was changed in the system, only the upgrade of Armbian was done to ver 4.81. So I'm wondering what went wrong with the upgrade. Hardware time is always correct, syncing system time to hardware time does not survive boot. I tried …

Hello. I've tried to find the TC358743 toshiba chip drivers in the kernel, but I can't. As far as I know they are included from 4.1 version, but in the menuconfig option I didn't found them. Is driver avaliable on this kernel or I should use another kernel?

I just ran apt-get update && apt-get upgrade, sure enough, a new kernel was downloaded. Due to a non-standard wifi chip, I always run KMS before rebooting, giving the new kernel version as an argument. (The automatic install on reboot didn't work so well in the past) It seems now that something is not right with the new kernel headers. I have not rebooted yet, out of fear the system might be unstable then. Hi, If you think that Solid-run Cubox-i kernel branch is becoming outdated, you can use a mainline linux kernel with the following enablement patches: Russell King home dir: http://www.home.arm.linux.org.uk/~rmk/cubox/?C=M;O=D Grab the most recent hummingboard-cubox-i DIFF big patch and patch it into your vanilla 4.1 kernel source dir. Then use a default config appropiate for a Cubox-i / Hummingboard: # make imx_v6_v7_defconfig hope it helps

Hello, all, I am trying to confirm the actual status of UART support on the Banana Pi BPI-R4. Does the hardware UART work reliably and appear as a character device (e.g., /dev/uart*) under Armbian Linux? Also, what is the maximum baud rate supported by this port? And one more question: Does Armbian support the Quectel EP06 modem (LTE, mini PCIe)? Thank you in advance, SY, Serge

Hi, I'm incurring in a issue with updates of the board to Armbian 26.8. The new kernel or updates break the board connectivity gets lost, since the board boots up, the LAN port blinks but it doesn't set any IP Address. The board works in headless mode with the Debian 13 CLI UFS image, so I can't debug it using a monitor. Has anyone the same issue? How to reproduce 1.Flash the recommended Debian 13 Trixie CLI Image from Armbian Website 2.Start the board normally, in headless mode 3.login with ssh 4.set a new user account 5.Run apt update && apt dist-upgrade -y and then reboot 6.Board…

Hi, Beside some limitations with cubox's hardware I love my cubox-i 4x4. But it is hard to find good documentation about how to many things. Reading this forum and other webs I made many of my goals. After installing Debian from this web site and using the nand-sata-install script the system works from the hard drive. This hard drive has two partitions, the main and big one and one small, 4GB, swap partition, but the system is not using it, so I would like to know if I can make the system use it. I found this how to: 9. Setting Up Swap Space 9.1. Swap Files Normally, there are only two steps to setting up swap space, creating the partition and adding it to /etc/…

Hey All, First, a big thank you to Igor and all who work hard to get armbian out to the masses Second, setting NODM_ENABLED=false NODM_USER=some_user in /etc/default/nodm as per the instructions here: http://www.armbian.com/documentation/ - section 'How to login?' doesn't seem to work for me on my cubox i4pro. Using Armbian_4.4_Udoo_Debian_jessie_3.14.28 - Wicd doesn't detect any networks (/etc/network/interfaces has wlan0 commented out). Hi, I've just created a SD-card with Armbian Bionic (mainline kernel 4.19.y) for a Hummingboard Gate. I noticed during boot that it says it uses U-boot version 2013.10-rc4. This seems quite old compared to the 2018 version that was on the Debian Stretch image from SolidRun. I've tried to search the internet to see what the impact of something like this is and wasn't able to find something that made sense to me (could be entirely my fault). I therefore have the question: Is the U-boot version intentional? (maybe it has some features that newer versions have dropped.)

the current filogic kernel has no info [in github] for where it was forked from, and trying to apply incremental patches from kernel.org I found it contains pieces of 6.14 in an ostensibly 6.12 branch. @chainsx might you be able to divulge where you forked it from?

I'm thinking of getting https://www.beagleboard.org/boards/beagley-ai I see there is this page for it https://www.armbian.com/beagley-ai/ I also see references to it in the code: https://github.com/search?q=org%3Aarmbian+beagley&type=code Are there any pre-built images available for it? Or would I have to build one?

First of all, sorry if I'm asking something really obvious, but I'm new in Linux. Hi! I just have a new fresh install of Armbian Stretch on my Cubox, and I just realized that Armbian isn't using the Predictable Network Interface Names but the old one. root@opl-cubox:/home/lpuerto# ifconfig eth0: flags=4163<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 inet 192.168.1.6 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.1.255 inet6 fe80::d263:b4ff:fe00:8297 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x20<link> ether d0:63:b4:00:82:97 txqueuelen 1000 (Ethernet) RX packets 411 bytes 50456 (49.2 KiB) RX errors 0 dropped …

This post is, more or less, a continuation of something I started here, but adapted to Armbian. I will start with an overview of what I have done (maybe this is relevant) and finish with my questions. What I've done: I have a Hummingboard Gate with a Mikrobus RS485 click 3.3V (this one: https://www.mikroe.com/rs485-33v-click). In order to make this work I need to change a few things in de device tree. The dtb that my board uses is 'imx6dl-hummingboard2.dtb' so I copy that file to my home directory for safe keeping. cd ~ sudo cp /boot/dtb-4.19.18-cubox/imx6dl-hummingboard2.dtb . Then I convert this dtb to a dts: sudo dtc -I dtb -O dts -o im…

Hello I downloaded Armbian for a CuBox i4P from https://redirect.armbian.com/region/EU/cubox-i/Bionic_current_desktop. uname -a reports: Linux cubox-i 5.10.12-imx6 #21.02.1 SMP Wed Feb 3 21:02:35 CET 2021 armv7l armv7l armv7l GNU/Linux However this image is working really fine, for a 7yo hardware. Thank you, Developers 2D software rendering is fast, Desktop windows are transparent. Great work! I tried Armbian Focal desktop mainline first, but it didnt show the desktop never again after first reboot, so i was happy with Bionic! Found similar problem here and i think i just need the correct xorg driver. Thanks for a…
