Rockchip CPU Boxes

A place for discussion of TV Boxes running with Rockchip CPUs (rk322x, rk3328, rk3399, etc)

Hello, I do have a X88 and stopped working, only red light, and nothing else. After watching many videos on Youtube, found that there was a semiconductor getting really hot, and there is a short on in/out. I am sure there is a replacement for that, but the problem is that I cannot find the part number or anything. Attached, picture with a circle on that. Anyone have any idea which semiconductor is that ? This is 5 PIN (3+2). Appreciated it.

  4. Hi everyone, I’m experiencing a recurring and very specific issue with my TX2 TV Box, with the following specifications: SoC: Rockchip RK3229 RAM: 2GB DDR3 Storage: NAND flash (not eMMC!) Board: Generic TX2 board 🛑 Main Issue The system shuts down abruptly at exactly 29 minutes and 47 seconds of uptime (i monitoring via htop). It always shuts down at this time. It’s not a clean shutdown or reboot — it behaves as if the power was cut off. No meaningful logs appear in journalctl or dmesg, and the shutdown is instantaneous and silent. 🧪 What I’ve Tried: Disabled idle and sleep functions: Masked syste…

I erased the flash from multitool flashed Armbian and the board won't boot at all It doesn't boot from an sd card and when I press the reset button is not entering mask mode, it is just stuck with the red light on Is 100% dead or is anything I can do?

  7. Hello to this great community, I want to comment on the experience I had when installing the armbian operating system on a TV BOX card, RK322x, with 1 Gb of RAM and 8 of ROM. • The system was installed with Armbian 21.05.1 Buster • Linux kernel 4.4.194 rk322x • The installation was done from the image in SD memory • LIBREOFFICE was also installed, in English, which later changes it to Spanish, which is the language I speak. • The internet connection by cable lan or by wifi, is configured normally. • It was also possible to change the Armbian operating system to the Spanish language, without incident. • The libreoffice is workin…

Hello ALL, I have been trying to solve this common issue by myself for two weeks now but I finally gave up. I was able to brick then unbrick and get Armbian running from the emmc on my box but the wifi is still a no-go. Does anyone has this box with a working wifi? I would like to know if there is any specific combination of buster/focal, kernel, DTB and wifi-chip/pins selection that will work. Right now I am running Armbian 21.05.1 Buster with kernel 5.10.34-rk322x I think I tried a dozen of combinations. Thank you Leo

  11. New to armbian, I have a H96Max Android TV Box, Initially I flashed it with Armbian_23.11.1_Rock-3a_bookworm_current_6.1.63_gnome_desktop but there was no signal in HDMI, I then flashed it with Armbian_22.05.0-trunk_Rk3318-box_jammy_current_5.15.35_xfce_desktop and Armbian_22.02.0-trunk_Rk3318-box_bullseye_edge_5.15.16_minimal, on both the image I was able to get the armbian running. The issue now I am facing is, in both the cases the WIFI is detected and SSIDs are listed but when I try to connect with password with router, it fails, I double checked if I am using the correct WIFI security. Picked up a couple of these over at the local second hand store... https://www.aopen.com/AU_en/products_info/Chromebox-Mini My guess is that these were digital signage oriented, as they were in a crate with a few Startech USB-DVI adatpers, etc... Anyways - they're end-of-support for ChromeOS... There's a couple of posts over on Alpine to get things running there... It's close enough to TinkerBoard to maybe do some effort, and with Chromeboxes/Chromebooks on the same SoC/BSP...

  13. Hello everyone! I'm using rk322x TV box for video decoding through mpp. Mpp requires a system with 6.1 or earlier kernel. When I try to compile Ubuntu 22.04 from this repository https://github.com/armbian/build, the selection for kernel are "current" or "edge". I selected "current", and later I found its kernel is 6.12.21. I have tried to use armbian-config to downgrade the kernel, but the earliest selection is 6.6. Then I tried to downgrade the kernel through apt, but there were no 6.1 edition. Thus, I decided to change the kernel through "Mainline Kernels" and install the 6.1.132 kernel. After the installation finished, I rebooted my system and found that the kerne…

  20. I have a Measy (R-BOX) U4C rk3188. Before I recycled it I thought I would try to get a linux kernel running on it and found this these posts. I experimented with Armbian_21.02.0-trunk_Rk3188_focal_current_5.10.6_xfce_desktop.img from 13JAN. (Thanks Balbes!) It boots with rk3188-rbox-cs968.dtb and most everything works but the video ouput is color shifted. So HDMI video output is fine but the colors wrong and HDMI audio is not working. I took apart the Android firmware that was on the thing but with a V3 kernel without uboot it is kind of difficult to see into the kernel. I assume the device tree is somehow off for this system or, more likely the uInitrd is loa…

  21. Hey guys, i am in trouble with my device (T95Plus, rk3566). Its no longer detected by windows using the usb-otg cable and Android Tool. So i can't reflash the original firmware. I compiled a custom u-boot for rk3566 with bootefi command added. I copied it over to partition 2 of the emmc where the original u-boot was located. Since then its broken. I thought its bricked, but DigitalDaz told me, its only softbricked. Anyway it logs the output over the uart port very well. Its first searching on sdcard for an SPL (secondary program loader) partition and fails, then tries the internal eMMC. It says no misc partition found. I foun…

  25. Hello everyone, I’m new to this forum and I’m currently trying to restore a device that is not booting properly. The device is stuck with the red and blue indicator lights, and there is no further activity. The device does not seem to boot or respond normally. Could someone please guide me on how to diagnose and restore this device? I would appreciate any information about the correct recovery procedure, boot mode, firmware restoration, or the appropriate tools/software that I should use. I’m still a beginner, so please explain the procedure step by step if possible. Thank you very much for your help and guidance. 🙏

  27. Hi Jock (Paolo) I had sent a private message, but later I saw many messages from Charles Bauer, heading a project where I am also involved. Here, we are receiving some hundreds of TV BOX, MXQ PRO, model 3228A (probably 1 of RAM and 8 of ROM) and with the task to transform it a Linux machine. Well, this task requires some scalability to do this conversion following a methodology. What I had thought: 1. Install the ARMBIAN in one these box, and configure it with all desired customizations 2. Do a back-up of this box using the Multitool (option for backup) I saw that the Multitool did a copy of whole eMMC (or NAND) memory... resulting in a file…

I have something simillar to Minix Neo x7 mini, with RK3188 SoC. As I say, the image works perfectly, I just wanna know if there's any way to transfer that image directly onto the internal NAND so I don't have to use the SD card. If you need anything I can provide, I will try my best to get it and post it here. Thanks for any future response. Peace
