Hello Guys , I have ordered Micro SD Card Breakout for Exporting UART and JTAG Pins to get serial output on the SD card port without making any welding on the box. I have test it and it seems to work. The problem is that the output is some king of unreadable characters. I don't know whether it is a config issue or something else ? Does any one have used the UART over SD port ? Thanks,

Greetings I dont know about you all but i still did not find an image of Armbian that installs without broken permissions issue. my box is T95R Pro S912 , 2/8 GB , i have tried every flavour of Armbian 9xxx running kernel 5xxx and tried every " gxm.dtb". everytime is the same error when i type : sudo , i get this : sudo : /usr/bin/sudo must be owened by uid 0 and have the setuid............. I did some home work and fixed it this way; - Ctrl + Alt + F3 , log in as root with the password you entered instead of 1234. - Open terminal and type: mount -o remount,rw / passwd ( enter a new password to reset the old one ) chow…

Hi, I plan on running octoprint on my Amlogic S912 china android box. Now I need to connect a filament runout sensor via gpio, in a octoprint plugin one specifies the used pins. Unfortunately my device has no dedicated gpio header built in, so I want to ask: Is there a way (that maybe works easily with armbian) to have gpio somehow? Like some usb stick with gpio on it that can forward gpio in and output? I have a pi zero lying around and found this https://github.com/raspberrypi/gpioexpander/wiki where some pigpio library is mentioned. But no idea if or how this could work on an Amlogic box. Any ideas?

Hello community, I wonder how Armbian could run on this (now dirt cheap*) Mecool M8S Plus W Android 7.1 TV Box (Amlogic 905W) which doesn't have a microSD card slot or even ethernet. *Did I say dirt cheap? Around $18 shipped for the 2GB/16GB RAM/ROM sounds cheap - doesn't it? See here for more information: https://www.cnx-software.com/2020/01/22/mecool-m8s-plus-w-tv-box-sells-for-less-than-15-promo/

Hi, I've tried booting into Armbian on a TX5 PRO and all i have managed up until now is to get stuck on the boot screen . Most tutorials I found are for older versions of Armbian. What i did: From here: [REMOVED LINK], i downloaded both the bionic and eoan versions, hoping a newen/older version might help. Both produced the same result. Even tried the newer RC2 version. After downloading the image, i used xzcat IMAGE | dd of=/dev/sdc to write it to a microSD card (also tried with usb stick) copied each *S905X* dtb file to the root of the same partition, and renamed them to dtb.img. None behaved any different. From the update app inside…

In the new year, I plan to focus on improving and developing Armbian-TV (Armbian-TV is a version that is based on the official Armbian, aimed at improved support for media capabilities and ease of use by ordinary users) support for the platforms Rockchip and Allwinner (perhaps a few more platforms will be added that are not yet in use). To do this, I have already ordered several popular models based on rk3399 (NanoPC T4, RockPi 4, Renegade-Elite), in a complete set with obligatory Support of nvme carriers (I consider this support essentially important, for transition of TV boxes and SBS to the category of mini-PC, as highly effective and improved replacement of the usua…

On this forum I read that for my device TXZ_A 20_V0.9 (Allwinner A20) are suitable firmware that are designed for CubieBoard2, I downloaded http://dl.cubieboard.org/software/a20-cubieboard/debian/nand/debian-nand.img.gz, recorded the image to the SD card using PhoenixCard. I inserted SD card in my device and the firmware was successfully installed and works fine on my device. I wanted to install Arabian for Cubieboard2 on my device, but the image https://dl.armbian.com/cubieboard2/Buster_current is not compatible with PhoenixCard (PhoenixCard gives an error message " Script NOT found! Please use new version image!"). Only images designed for PhoenixCard work fo…

Googling this question leads to a lot of chromebooks with 8-12 hours of battery life at a cheap price range, and a few Windows/Qualcom Snapdragon laptops with 24 hours of battery life but much more expensive. I would love to see a linux or chromebook laptop with 24 hours of battery life at a reasonable price point but am perhaps not doing a good search. Would any of you know of a really long lasting ARM-based laptop at a reasonable price point?

I tried to install Armbian_19.11.3_Aml-g12_buster_legacy_5.3.0_20191126.img.xz to my T95Z Plus box (S912 with 3GB RAM) but got only wifi running. Any ethernet connection was not possible. I used meson-gxm-khadas-vim2.dtb in uEnv.ini and was able to boot the box into debian buster. Is there a combination of Armbian and DTB that supports Wifi on H96-Max-X2? I am currently using Armbian_19.11.5_Aml-g12_buster_dev_5.5.0-rc3_desktop_20191228.img + meson-g12a-sei510.dtb, I tried same OS with meson-g12a-x96-max.dtb, which cannot even make Ethernet work. And I tried to use USB NIC, also not detected. Any suggestions please? Thank you!

Hello to all; These are VERY exciting days for me as I installed ARMBIAN 5.37 on my s-805 MXQ box and its running beautiful! Thanks for all that made it happen. There is but one issue where I need some help: Running ARMBIAN 5.37 user-built Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS 3.10.99, the system is unable to find my wifi adapter. I have found this GREAT post by odroidn2user explaining hardware acceleration info and status in Amlogic devices. It answers most of the questions I've had since I first installed Armbian, maybe some admin can make a sticky. https://forum.odroid.com/viewtopic.php?t=36675 @balbes150 now I'm thinking about getting a RK3399 with a midgard GPU instead of a Ugoos AM6 Pro with S922X and a bifrost GPU. Or do you think bifrost support will be added soon?

Is there an updated distro for the RK3188 ? (Quad core A9, ARMv7) I have been looking around but not been able to find something newer than Ubuntu 12.02, or an old Linuxium Found this old stick in a drawer, and want to repurpose it to a headless Linux box. 2GB RAM. My goal would be to run Home Assistant on it, which does run on the Pi 3 Model B. So I assume the 20% better performance of the A53 would be offset a bit by having twice the RAM. I think it is better to repurpose it than to throw it out.

I have been trying to boot various images for a while. Recently I have tried the latest Armbian and Libreelec Images but without success. I have tried both usb and sd card. Today I managed to get my serial UART connected to the box to see where things are stopping. I have attached a log from the serial console. I have tried just about every single dtb I can find and I have removed the dtb for it to load from emmc, it still fails at the same step. I have waited over 15 mins and still nothing. Boot logo of the X92 is on the screen but nothing else. GXM:BL1:dc8b51:76f1a5;FEAT:ADFC318C:0;POC:3;RCY:0;EMMC:0;READ:0;0.0;CHK:0; TE: 114034 BL2 …

I purchased this TV box for my project to make an Hybrid media player/server based on Linux. I selected the Excelvan TV box as it Is the only based on S912 and with a SATA Port to add an hard disk. The idea is to: - install Armbian - install and activate Kodi stand alone - install Media server (Plex or Emby) Anyone succeeded in getting a fully working Armbian installation? Can It boot from the SATA disk? So far I succeeded in installing Armbian (dtb gxm-q200) from USB but ethernet port is not working. I am waiting for an HD Firecuda 1TB to test of it can run from the SATA disk. Appreciate any help on my project. Inviato dal mio MI 8 Lite utilizzando Tapatalk

Hello, I am looking for a cheap SoC (less than 15$ per SoC) that has the most efficient HW based h.264 encoder. I want to transcode multiple 1080p (6-12 mbps bitrate source) TS streams. I will probably use couple of those SoC's. I was reading about Allwinner V3S (~3$ per CPU) based SoCs but can't find any cheap one for sale based on that chip. Also I don't really know what kind of performance this cheap have for HW h.264 encoding. Anyone have any experience with HW 1080p encoding on SoCs? Any suggestions?

I took apart a tx3 pro android box I had collecting dust and realized I could put debian on it. I went through the process on Armbians website and got it to sucessfully boot into the user login screen of Armbian Heres the weird part when I login it begins to load and then for some reason opens Kodi 17.3 and I have no way of exiting kodi without it rebooting the box. I believe I only had Kodi 16.0 on the box so I think 17.3 is coming pre-installed in this file they give you for the Armbian Debian install. If anyone has any idea why it would do this I'd appreciate it.appvalley tutuapp tweakbox

Hi to all, I recently purchased a COOLEME brand tvbox (but internally is marked W95T) with S905W, 2GB / 16GB of memory. The wifi chip is SV6051P. I tried to install ARMBIAN Armbian_5.37_S9xxx_Ubuntu_xenial_3.14.29_server_20180203.img and it works all very well except WIFI. I tried several DTBs, both gxl212 and gxl281, I also tried to modify them but I could not make the WIFI work. I saw that in the folder / lib / firmware there is a subfolder SSV6051 that contains a .bin file and a .cfg but I have no idea how to load them. Among other things I tried to install LibreElec and the wifi in that case works ... But I'm interested in Linux because I intend to use t…

Ok guys looking for some help on shutting down issue. I installed Armbian_5.90_Aml-s905_Ubuntu_bionic_default_5.1.0_desktop_20190701.img.xz using S905.p212.dtb two days ago. It was logging ADC errors in the kernel log every three seconds but they have gone now , it is now logging the errors below in the kernel log and ttyS0 errors in the syslog and kernel log as well. I disabled the ttyS0 service to stop it logging all the time and around 25 minutes later it shutdown, There are no errors in the kernel log apart from the ones below. It was stable for 1.5 days until I disabled the ttyS0. It keeps shutting down every 25 minutes but was st…

Hello, I have a Beelink Mini MXIII. I successfully installed Armbian on an SDCard, and booted from it then I used the "Armbian configuration utility" to install onto eMMC. Now the box is bricked, there is no signal to hdmi. I tried to use the "USB Burning tool" method, and tried to burn the firmware on an SD card, but with no success when booting. What should I do from here ?

Hi, around 2 months ago I installed Armbian 5.75 onto an Armlogic S905W by flashing Armbian_5.75_Aml-s905_Debian_stretch_default_4.20.5_desktop_20190211 . My box is currently out of commission because of a bad HDMI port but I need to know the releases default gcc version in order to trouble shoot a package build issue on a different board. How can I find the default version that the above release would have shipped with? Thanks

Hello, I have bought an x96mini with a uboot version from 03/2019, everythings works perfectly when booting from SD, but when I try to boot from internal the kernel boots and it stops at "waiting for root device", after an investigation I have noticed that the partitions layout is different from the standard one, I have updated the dtb to be inline with that layout but the problem remains the same, unable to boot from internal. Here is the original dts file from that box, Any help would be appreciated, knowing that I am using the kernel version 3.14. Thanks, 01_dtbdump_Amlogic.dts

I have a number of headless AML S905 / S912 1GB Ram TV boxes running a bastardised Armbian for systems monitoring. I have a 200MB zram compressed block device setup to store temporary data which gets processed locally then synced to a command server every hour because the eMMC's on these cheap boxes do not last very long under sustained write scenarios. I would like to increase the zram filesystem size to 500MB so I only have to sync daily instead of hourly but because 25% of the RAM is allocated to the GPU/VPU I dont have enough available ram All the devices I have seen seem to allocate approx 250MB for the GPU which is obviously wasted in a headless scenario…

Good Day everyone! I have 4 of these Kata Boxes lying around the house, and due to the poor firmware of which was never updated, I was hoping to have Armbian installed to that I could place these near my DAC's to become essentially DLNA devices (Of which I hope will be painless). However, in trying to boot armbian, I have no luck whatsoever. In Libreelec, I am able to boot fine from the SD Card no problem, and since I have an opportunity to SSH, I wanted to know the device tree it was using by running the command "cat /proc/device-tree/le-dt-id," the result of was "gxbb_p200 LibreELEC:~ #." With that information, I've used the same dtb located in the dtb folder of …

Good Day I have a Mecool K3 Pro (S912 - 3GB) which includes an internal DVB tuner. I have installed images from balbes150 ( https://yadi.sk/d/pHxaRAs-tZiei) The latest device tree source (dts) for meson-gxm-s912-kiii-pro.dtb includes the dvb config. So the K3 boots fine without any problems, except there is no dvb interface (/dev/dvb). So I need to load the kernel modules for the AVL6862 tuner, but it is not included in the images. To compile my own modules, I can only find source drivers here: https://github.com/afl1/dvb_tv-aml https://github.com/avlogic/AVL6862 but I am unable to successf…

Hello. I bought a A5x max with android 9.0 https://pt.geekbuying.com/item/A5X-MAX-RK3328-4GB-32GB-TV-Box-398231.html I can only boot in the combined mode (i.e. with an SD card + USB). I tried to boot to emmc doing the procedure described here However without luck so far. It didn't boot. Do I need a diferent uboot.img to be able to boot from emmc ? Is there any procedure so that I can boot from the SD card instead of the combined mode? What is the best dtb for this A5x max tv box? I was hoping this tv box would have a better performance than my rasberry pi 3b+ is that unrealistic? Sorry for my begginer questions.…

Hello all! I have one of these (possibly!) a sunvell R69 tv- box (it says R69 on top and has a green line going around it). I did try to check on its built-in android to see what CPU is in this box; I couldn't really find a 100% answer but it is either an H2+ or H3. I did download and manage to get to work one of the armbian images (but I cannot remember which one it was) but then later used the micro sd for other purposes. I then tried downloading the armbian image for the orange pi one (I can't remember if that was the one I chose earlier; I've seen others use this image for 'a' R69 and some say it works) and writing it but my R69 refuses to boot…

Hi All I started playing with Armbian recently with some old S905 / S905X based TV Box devices I had lying around. Im working with a T95 S1, an A95X and an MXQ Pro and using the images from @balbes150 yandisk repo (thanks!) Mostly everything seems to work fine except when transferring data to or from the devices (I havent tested WiFi or BT). My problem is that I cant use the ethernet to transfer any files. Network data transfers start as expected then get gradually slower and slower until after 10-15 seconds at which point data transfer stops and the device becomes unresponsive for a few minutes. Eventually I can SSH back into the device but any at…

Hi, Long time OrangePi PC user here who was going to get another of these devices but is intrigued by the TV Boxes which some can be get for about $15. I'm confused about what is the 'best' Tv Box chip-set to get here, Amlogic (yeah I noticed the threads about them lying about CPU speed, but I don't care) or Rockchip etc. What has the best, or is likely in the future to have good Linux Kernel support for WiFi, Ethernet, SD Card, Audio, HDMI and Hardware Decoding (and bonus points for encoding!)? Amlogic seems to be a winner right? Any links to Aliexpress products that fit the bill?

Good evening! I've bought the R69 1GB TV-Box on eBay some days ago with the plan in mind to run Armbian there. I've tried couple of images. Beelink Image with Mainline and legacy Kernel, RetroOrangePi Images and so on - for now I haven't found a working one. Variants of alteration of the cooling system. For example, three models MVR9 (rk3328), MX10 (rk3328) x96mini (s905w). In the body, above the radiator of the processor, a large hole is made and on the sides of the body a large hole is made for the free passage of air. On x96mini had to add a new radiator. Note need necessarily two holes, one for air intake, the second for exit. This is a very common mistake TV box manufacturers, they sometimes make only one type of holes, which is not enough for the normal operation of the cooling system. The air must pass freely through the body. The direction of air supply for TV boxes is optimal from the hole on th…

Hey I've managed to boot armbian on my box with S905X using meson-gxl-s905x-p212.dtb. The thing is that the screen resolution isn't properly setup. For some reason it detects Composite-1 when there's none and HDMI default is 1024x768. This isn't that big of an issue as I was able to use xrandr to fix it for my monitor. However when plugged to something bigger like TV the screen is very weird. Colors start to change color and screen has some weird artifacts. You can watch it here https://streamable.com/2615s A friend of mine has another box and it works perfectly out of the box. The TV is not the issue but rather the dtb. the meson-gxm-khadas-vim2.dtb also works but wifi…

Hi. Currently using Kodi on Raspberry Pi. I also run IPTV service on the Kodi Raspberry Pi. It seems switching channels is slow, EPG seems limited as well. I want to know when I buy a TV box, does it come with OS? Can I just load the m3u file so it allows watching IPTV? Does it allow faster switching of channel than using a Raspberry Pi? So many questions regarding TV Box. But seems to me the forum has a lot of topics of people getting TV Box and repurposing the box as desktop. Why is this? Not really using it for IPTV?

Hi. Currently, I subscribe to IPTV service, and have it loaded on Kodi (Raspberry Pi 3b). I don't have full EPG. Also, it's slow switching channels. Don't feel like a TV at all. I was wondering if any of these Arm SBC can function like and actual STB provided by cable providers? My IPTV service requires me to load the url to m3u8. I'd like to have something that looks like this Currently, I think I have something that looks like this It's also super slow to start a channel. Is this normal IPTV behavior?

Hi, I got a Phicomm N1 TV Box, which is Amlogic S905D. I'm trying to build libreelec/coreelect for it. I saw there is a step in the build script to build and write the u-boot to the header of the output disk image. I don't understand the purpose of this step. In my understanding, u-boot is already in the NAND of the box. What's the purpose to write it into the disk image? Is this step needed for my device? Currently I can see these u-boot env variables with my device: start_autoscript=if usb start ; then run start_usb_autoscript; fi; if mmcinfo; then run start_mmc_autoscript; fi; run start_emmc_autoscript; start_emmc_autoscript=if fatload mmc 1 1020000 emmc_…
