Hi all, what would be the correct way in recent Armbian distributions to bring up a CAN interface? As far as I'm aware NetworkManager does not support CAN interfaces Ifupdown somehow feels deprecated nowadays systemd-networkd.service seems to be masked by default Any insight would be appreciated.

I have been running Armbian on a Pinebook Pro without issues. I use the stable distribution, but after an update about a week ago (I think) the Panfrost driver has stopped working. When logging into the desktop environment (Cinnamon) the symptom is a black screen with a cursor visible but nothing else. Checking the logs I see a bunch of lines like: > Mar 20 09:29:05 pine kernel: [ 534.502108] panfrost ff9a0000.gpu: js fault, js=0, status=DATA_INVALID_FAULT, head=0xb9f2b40, tail=0xb9f2b40 If I log in by disabling hardware rendering (choosing "Cinnamon (Software Rendering)") then the desktop does display and work (albeit very slow…

I'm trying to build an abian trixie image with the CONFIG_DRM_PANEL_MIPI_DBI support module enabled in the kernel. However, no matter how many times I build, when checking the modinfo module, panel-mipi-dbi is not found. In the /boot/config(kernel) configuration, the line is commented out: #CONFIG_DRM_PANEL_MIPI_DBI is not set I set M to the panel-mipi-dbi kernel module parameter. I also set Y to the parameter. I also tried adjusting the .config file before running the image build. I used both Docker and non-Docker builds. I'm using Ubuntu 22.04.

I came across e-con Systems’ cameras that can be compatible with Jetson AGX Orin. Has anyone tried e-con Systems’ cameras before? The listed cameras are perfectly suiting my needs. But I would like to know if any other options are available in the market. It would be great if you could suggest me the same.

On Armbian 25.2.1, I can't find package tags. In contrast, on a pure Debian host (non-armbian), the command "apt-cache show gcc" says in part: Tag: devel::compiler, devel::lang:c, devel::library, implemented-in::c, interface::commandline, role::devel-lib, role::metapackage, role::program, suite::gnu, works-with::software:source I'd also like to see tags on Armbian so I can search for packages based on their tags. Thanks.

  11. So I am following instructions for how to install Kiauh on Arbmian. I am using a terminal on my PC through PuTTY. I have cloned the Kiauh files to my device successfully, I have verified they are there, but whenever I try to run the shell using sh ./kiauh/kiauh.sh I get the response 'unknown': I need something more specific. This is the least useful error message I have ever seen. I can't find anyone having had this issue and I am dead in the water. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Looking through other forum posts, I'm wondering if the proper firmware is being loaded, as well as the proper NVRAM settings. 22. armbian jammy, uptodate a/o yesterday, on 6 pack of bananapi-m5's running a 3d printer farm. You made chrome the default browser, which has port 80 high jacked for all of googles BS. So you can't use chrome for local web page troubleshooting, or to run klipper. localhost:80 is not accessible, neither is the machines fqdn:80. Can this bit of commercial hi-jacking be defeated? FF, installed as a snap and auto-updated nightly works fine, but because its a snap, must be restarted every day. That is a classic PITA. So, how do I make FF's snap the default browser?

  23. Hello, I encounted an issue with chromium. By default, armbian has PSD (profile-sync-deamon) enabled, and when chromium started, it links the profile dir (~/.config/chromium) to /run/user/1000/chromium-user However, it breaks the cookies. If I reboot the box, and start chromium to visit a website I logged in, the login session was lost. I took me much time to understand the reason, finally I found it's the symbolic link. The temp solution for me is that I disabled the psd service, and the profile directory won't become a symbolic link. Now it works well. Next, I tried to find if it is psd or the symbolic link. 27. There is a previous topic on this from 2020, but it's closed and not much action was taken except discussing workarounds. I'd like to continue this. Looking at the kernel configs in this repo, many of them have CONFIG_RT_GROUP_SCHED=y. This does not play nicely with modern systemd (cgroups v2), breaking things like rtkit-daemon. See https://bugs.gentoo.org/569546 and https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=655321. rtkit is an important part of making pulseaudio and pipewire work smoothly, as well as for many other low-latency applications. There are a few currently available workarounds, but none are ideal: 1. Linux 6.16 or later has boot ti…

When I log in directly to the system, I get the login query (username and password) and then the message "Module is unknown". Then the login request comes again. What can I do without reinstalling the system? Thanks for the help. Jens

Hey everyone, I want to share something pretty simple that I was working on: a way to customize the official image, maybe it's not the best way of doing it, but it worked for my needs. https://github.com/thiagosanches/yet-another-armbian-bakery/ The main goal is: WIFI up at the first boot. 35. Hello, I downloaded recent Armbian image for Orange Pi PC Plus - 23.05.1. When I run it, the screen resolution is 720x576 and virtual resolution 1024x768. 51. Hello, I'm planning on building a network router with the Orange Pi Zero Plus, similar to the Raspberry Pi diagram below, but I'm not sure if the Orange Pi supports Vlan. If so, how do I implement it into my OpenWrt image? Thank you all.

  52. I think I have everything setup, nm even says its connected, but isn't. With about 15 entries in FQDN format in the /etc/hosts file, and the hostname set to whats before the first dot of one of the entries, ip a still doesn't show an ipv4 address. and ip r is an empty return. What all do I need to set?, it all looks kosher to me.

  53. I’m trying to help people use my Pi Hat with RPi clones and everything works, except for the DS18B20 temperature sensors. Using current versions of Armbian on both a Banana Pi M2 Zero, a Banana Pi M4 Berry, and an Orange Pi 3B, but no devices show up in /sys/bus/w1/devices. /etc/modules contains: w1-gpio w1-therm /boot/armbianEnv.txt contains: overlays=w1-gpio param_w1_pin=PA6 param_w1_pin_int_pullup=1 NOTE: PA6 is used so that it matches up with the default 1-Wire pin used on an RPi. These hats are already built, I can’t change this to a different pin.

  54. I have to be upfront: I'm not a developer. I'm an ops/observability engineer who knows how to use software to get things done. I know a bit of Go — not much — and I have no formal background in software design. What I do know is what I need, and what was missing. So I built it. Take the code with that in mind. The problem I run a Kobol Helios64 as my home NAS — a five-bay ARM board that's been sitting in a sweet spot between "serious hardware" and "abandoned by its software ecosystem." I tried the usual NAS UIs. They were either too heavy, too opinionated about owning the underlying OS, or simply unmaintained. None of them gave me a clean window in…

I'm not sure where to report this. I think this is a common problem across distros for arm. I had this same problem with manjaro arm a month ago. On a fresh install of armbian. 24.3 cli. Emacs 28.x is available. It is missing a lot of elpa packages because of out of date gpg keys. It cannot find elpa.gnu packages. It is, for me, completely unable to load and use my emacs configuration. Package-initialize and package-refresh-contents do not fix it. I built the current emacs from source, it's version 29.3 and that works much better.

  75. Hello everyone! I’m new to the forum and recently set up Armbian on my Orange Pi using the latest July 2025 image. I’m working on a user-space application to monitor fuel consumption for IoT projects involving vehicle fleets, like optimizing diesel trucks. I’m thinking of something that could run via armbian-config or as a Python script, pulling data from fuel sensors. So far, my idea is to log consumption data and calculate efficiency based on user input. I’ve tried Grafana, but it lacks a dedicated fuel calculator—kalkulatorpaliwa.com.pl could serve as a starting point for a simple interface. I’m unsure how to approach this on Armbian—should I use Python with Mat…

  76. Sharing this here since it's a general-purpose tool rather than anything board-specific: GOESB is an open, reproducible benchmark for on-device speech-to-text — hash-verified results, official profiles + open packs so numbers are directly comparable across hardware, no account needed to submit. The problem it's trying to solve: if you're picking hardware for a local voice/STT workload, vendor numbers don't tell you much and blog posts go stale fast. GOESB is meant to be the place you can actually check "does this board run faster-whisper medium in real time, or do I need to drop to tiny and eat the accuracy hit." Right now the leaderboard is entirely x86…

  86. If you ever got a solid green frame trying to play H.265 through the RK3588 VA-API driver — on any image, any board — here's the closure: it was never your setup. HEVC never worked in this driver. It advertised the profiles, but there was no HEVC bitstream assembler in the code; the VPU received unparseable data and handed back empty (green) buffers. Two years, every user, same green. The assembler now exists on the deep-ink branch, and the verification is numeric, not eyeballed: hardware-decoded frames compared pixel-by-pixel against software decode — identical, at 8-bit and at 4K HDR10 (Main10). The comparison tools are committed (tools/hevc-ladder.sh) so you c…

OK, there's a corresponding option in armbian-config, and it seems to run successfully, but for some reason, I only see linux-headers-6.12.74+deb13+1-arm64 and linux-headers-6.12.74+deb13+1-common in /usr/src.

  100. Started by silencer,

Hi guys. I installed the Armbian image without the desktop. But now I need the desktop and it's not available in the software list in Armbian-config. What should I do? Thank you in advance.
