  5. I have Armbian running on an Orange Pi and I like to work by changing to su so I'm not having to constantly type sudo in front of commands when I have a lot of commands that need root privilege. However, bizzarely, sometimes I still ahve to use sudo. So for example: root@orangepi5-plus:/home/Data/Mercurial_Info# usermod -a -G www-data username bash: usermod: command not found If I do sudo usermod -a -G www-data username How can I fix this please? It's also stopping me running a script I need that I ran on my old Banana Pi running Armbian.

  6. I have upgraded multiple RockPiS that were happily working - new version is Armbian 22.08.8 stable - but the latest version of Armbian-config no longer includes WiFi Access point creation/ management, and seems to disable the Access Point functionality. I am hoping this is an error that will be fixed - but if not, is there any way to downgrade the version of Armbian-Config - or turn the Access Point back on ?

i have 2 USB LTE modems (quectel ec25) and i most of the time i get "wwan0" (modem 0) and "wwan1" (modem 1) network interface names, but sometimes they switch to "wwan0" (modem 1) and "wwan1" (modem 0), sometimes i get "wwx*" interface name on one of them and "wwan1" on the other, this is very sad ;(. How can i get "wwx*" for both of them? modems are connected after the system is already started im using latest jammy cli image on opi zero, the only thing i did is installed "modemmanager" and created 2 gsm connections in networkmanager

  8. Hello everyone! I’m new to the forum and recently set up Armbian on my Orange Pi using the latest July 2025 image. I’m working on a user-space application to monitor fuel consumption for IoT projects involving vehicle fleets, like optimizing diesel trucks. I’m thinking of something that could run via armbian-config or as a Python script, pulling data from fuel sensors. So far, my idea is to log consumption data and calculate efficiency based on user input. I’ve tried Grafana, but it lacks a dedicated fuel calculator—kalkulatorpaliwa.com.pl could serve as a starting point for a simple interface. I’m unsure how to approach this on Armbian—should I use Python with Mat…

Hello, I have a 5.5" waveshare hdmi screen. For some reason it is blank on all my SBCs. Vim3, vim4 with armbian so far. It works perfectly for my Mac mini running Arch. I've tested cables and power. It has instructions for special settings to add to pi os' /boot/config.txt. Hdmi_force_hotplug=1 Among other things. Is it possible I need the same for armbian? Where would that go?

  15. I know this might get ignored, but honestly, I don’t really mind. I just want to report something I noticed a few days ago, which I initially thought was caused by my previous setup. I was running a Radxa CM5 with a Waveshare CM4 Nano-C board, using an Armbian image for the Rock 5A. This was the only way I could get it working with mainline support. I’m aware this setup is far from standard I’m essentially using the wrong image but that’s because the Radxa CM5 IO board isn’t compatible with the Waveshare Nano board. On top of that, Armbian doesn’t officially support the CM5 RPi-CM4 IO board provided by Radxa (which does work with the Waveshare Nano, but their imag…

  22. So I am following instructions for how to install Kiauh on Arbmian. I am using a terminal on my PC through PuTTY. I have cloned the Kiauh files to my device successfully, I have verified they are there, but whenever I try to run the shell using sh ./kiauh/kiauh.sh I get the response 'unknown': I need something more specific. This is the least useful error message I have ever seen. I can't find anyone having had this issue and I am dead in the water. Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

  28. If you ever got a solid green frame trying to play H.265 through the RK3588 VA-API driver — on any image, any board — here's the closure: it was never your setup. HEVC never worked in this driver. It advertised the profiles, but there was no HEVC bitstream assembler in the code; the VPU received unparseable data and handed back empty (green) buffers. Two years, every user, same green. The assembler now exists on the deep-ink branch, and the verification is numeric, not eyeballed: hardware-decoded frames compared pixel-by-pixel against software decode — identical, at 8-bit and at 4K HDR10 (Main10). The comparison tools are committed (tools/hevc-ladder.sh) so you c…

Hi mates, unfortunately I've lot of problems with IPv6, the programs I use love to use IPv6 to bind their TCP ports and not IPv4, I suppose this is not up to them but the kernel suggest/force them use it first. How can I get completely rid of IPv6? I want to kill it completely, it doesn't matter for me to enable it in future. I've disabled using armbian-config and checked /etc/sysctl.conf, there are these lines: net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6 = 1 net.ipv6.conf.default.disable_ipv6 = 1 net.ipv6.conf.lo.disable_ipv6 = 1 but thy don't have affect. Maybe this is a bug of armbian? I suppose so.. Thanks for support

On attempting to install, I saw the following: Reason is that armbian-config package includes /usr/bin/neofetch. To avoid confusion for new users, it seems like it would be good to either have armbian-config depend on neofetch instead of including the bash script that that package includes*, or have the Package file for armbian-config lock out the installation of neofetch (I think the Provides, Replaces, and Conflicts directives might be needed for that). 50. I am trying to debug some sporadic issues with my wireless chip (AP6212 - on a BPI-M2 Zero). Looking through other forum posts, I'm wondering if the proper firmware is being loaded, as well as the proper NVRAM settings. I'm not new to Linux (I started using Linux around 97), but I haven't really dove into wireless firmware before, and it's all pretty mysterious to me. A previous forum post points out that the AP6212-specific firmware might not be being loaded. I checked, and in fact, it wasn't loading the firmware from the AP6212 (it looked like it wasn't loading any firmware - it was looking for brcmfmac43430-sdio.sinovoip,bpi-m2-zero.bin but only brcmfmac43430-sdio.…

  51. Hi All, Current running a RockPi4C+, it has crashed after a dist-update (it seems that uboot update not recognize my nvme), then, I reinstall it, on SD card only , but only found a community rolling version, And, now that my system is booting, I want/need to go back to stable, I read about armbian-config to do that, but not enable on RockPi4C+ What is the "cli" way Thank you

  53. Hi, I have problem with full disk /var/log and to problem is with systemd-journald. I can't understand, how it works. armbian-truncate-logs works fine. When is /var/log more than 75% full, the script truncates a log and files are copied to disk /var/log.hdd -> no problem here before midnight is my /var/log 40% full after midnight is my /var/log 100% full When I was investigating, where the problem was, I found that /var/log.hdd was bigger than the size of my partition /var/log. The biggest folder is /var/log.hdd/journald There are so many files in /var/log.hdd/journald An…

  55. Hello community I've been struggling to find statistics and/or good references to commonly used host-based intrusion detection systems on Linux servers. Is there a recommendation from someone with experience and who has ideally deployed such systems? It would be helpful to see which HIDS you use or recommend. Regards, nobuzlata

In the official Armbian Radxa Rock 5C Gnome image (nobel) the WiFi hardware is detected, but in the server image (nobel) the WiFi hardware is not detected. Edit. I see I can use WiFi in armbian-config, but it does not show up in gnome on the server image.
