  2. This message is on-topic, but for an unknown reason, it is not possible for me to create a message in Help wanted. So I post here. I have used Armbian for two years, I think, on several devices, and I have given some money to support it. Thanks for the job. I recently upgraded to the last version with Debian 11. Everything fine but one point which is probably not a bug, that's why I don't post in "bugs". I use Unbound which is the heart of my soft. And I use a python script which is loaded by Unbound. Until now, there was no problem. With the last version, I ran in several read problems. The first reason I found is apparmor, which prevented the script to o…

  3. Iam a newbie to orangepi 3. I never had experience in doing anything in SBC's before. I was trying to learn to create a home NAS with orange pi 3 and open media vault. I was impressed with orange pi as it was cheap and more hardware. Here is what i did which took me days but ended up in nothing 1) Got success with ssh. Dloaded Armbian bullseye mainline image from armbian website. Mounted it to class 10 SD by Etcher. After finishing, no boot drive on sd card. Shows 'SD is corrupted'. I saw in this forum that after mounting, two files such as kernal and boot files should be present for ORPi 3 to boot.https://redirect.armbian.com/orangepi3/Bullseye_current 2)…

  6. I am trying to migrate the two RockPro64 NAS's i have running the last Ayufan Community buster 9.14 minimum build from 2019 to a currently supported and maintained Armbian build. My current builds have become unstable and don't allow for any updates. The Armbian Buster 4.4.y build boots on my RockPro64 when the LSI 9211-4i board is not installed but does not boot when the board is installed. No error log to send. I also tried the Buster 5.10.60 image - no love. 7. Hi, I am trying to optimize torrent download speeds on SBC. and I have the RPI4-2GB board. I get somewhat similar results for the Odroid HC1. I only download 1 torrent at a time, and I dont upload. So very simple requirements. On a 1000/1000Mbit connection. Samsung 4TB 870QVO HDD - UAS enabled and tested with good controller. Same file downloaded multiple times. So the external factors such as the ISP or the Storage is for sure NOT the bottleneck here. 9. I've just installed armbian to Pinebook Pro's eMCC using the full-disk encryption helper script from https://github.com/mmgen/mmgen-geek-tools The said script was executed inside an armbian installation in an sd card with official Pinebook Pro image. The eMCC installation almost worked - it boots to graphical desktop, however there's no wifi and bluetooth. I don't have any other way to connect the laptop to internet. I guess the way to fix this is to boot the sd card again because it has internet, then open the encrypted disk manually and chroot to its root, then run some command - but I don't know which one! Please help.

  10. When using the dts editor in armbian-config, a different dts is shown than the one that I defined in extlinux.conf. For my RK3188 based minix neo X7, I decompiled an existing dtb from boot/dtb into a dts file using dtc on my Linux computer. I edited this into a new dts and compiled it into a dtb. I placed this under the name rk3188-x7.dtb in my boot/dtb folder, referenced to it in extlinux.conf and my system booted using this dtb (checked in dmesg). However, when I try to use armbian-config to edit my dtb/dts, it shows a different dts. Any idea how or where to change this so I can easily work on my dts?

Hello everyone, Over the past year or so, I've been getting back to my utilite pro board that bought quite a while back. After asking a few things to Compulab, and figuring out some of the bad download links to get their latest resources, I could finally upgrade to their latest Ubuntu build, that was based on 12.04. So not so recent. I am not the most aware user when it comes to arm devices, but a page on the Debian wiki pointed out to running buster on the board. Then, I came across the armbian ecosystem, and thought, well, I'll give it a try. Kudos to the work done. This looks impressive. The past days I've been trying to co…

  15. I've got one of these boards. It is just Kernel development that has ceased as there are no maintainers? (Had I had the skills, I would have happily maintained it. ;-( ) Also, to get the latest Kernel later on, is it as simple as obtaining the official sources and then compiling (or cross-compiling to ARM) and then install the Kernel? On this one I'm a bit like a duck out of water and if anyone can point me along the right path, all help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi, I started armbian from SD card on a Libre.Computer Le Potato board. Runs like hell and seems much more robust than the Ubuntu 18.04 img that I used before. But how can I get it on my 32 Gb eMMC (5.)??? E.g. the Ubuntu image of Le Potato has a script called ``lc_distro_transfer``. Is there anything similar for armbian? Note: For the Ubuntu image, one has to mount the eMMC after the booting from the SD card has started; kind of ugly, but otherwise the Potato tries to start from the eMMC. Best, Robert

  29. Hello, initially, I would like to thank the Armbian project for making many of these SBCs that aren't so common usable with such a good distribution. I'm using a Banana Pi M2 Zero, and the manufacturer provided Android image didn't boot at all and I got concerned I had a brick. However, Armbian has multiple images for this board available and, right now, this board is running Armbian 21.08.6 Focal using the kernel Linux 5.10.60-sunxi. The performance difference compared to a Raspberry Pi Zero is dramatic. And it even has a Mali 400! Step by step, I'm getting more features on the board working, either by reading Armbian documentation or user contributions. From…

  49. Good day. Yesterday I downloaded the latest Armbian version for the ASUS Tinker Board S and flashed the built-in eMMC (with Etcher Balena). The software works fine, but - the SD card is not mounted as mass storage, the file manager THUNAR does not recognize it. also lsusb does not recognize it. - a plugged USB- flash-stick is not mounted by the file manager THUNAR, although lsusb lists it. Ist das Problem behebbar? Is the problem fixable? The USB stick of a wireless mouse is recognized and also connects to the conputermouse. 50. Hi forum members, since I'm playing with the use of onewire sensos, I came up with the question to use more than one GPIO-pin for the onewire protocol. Is it possible to configure multiple GPIO-pins that the output of: cat /sys/kernel/debug/gpio shows more than one onewire gpio pin ? If YES, how can I find the connected sensors under the /sys/bus/ structure? Tanks in advance wollik

  52. An Orange Pi R1+ LTS is on its way to me to replace the Orange Pi R1 that currently serves as my firewall (my fibre speed has increased and 100Mbps PHYs are too slow) The board is similar to the Orange Pi R1+ except that a NIC has a different chipset. Orange Pi R1+ LTS uses Rockchip rk3328 and has 1GB DDR3 memory and two 1 Gbps NICs. Compared to the Orange Pi R1+, the Realtek RTL8211E PHY has been replaced with a YT8531C PHY. The memory is also DDR3 vs DDR4. Armbian has WIP images for the Orange Pi R1+, but not the Orange Pi R1+ LTS. I guess that this could be a good starting point if I can figure out how to change the PHY.

  54. Hi! I have Orange Pi Pc Plus and Armbian based on Linux 5.8.11-trunk which successfully loads with any U-Boot taken from official Armbian distro. However I need to do minor changes in U-Boot KConfig (Allow store env vars in ext4). For that purposes I cloned U-Boot from its GitHub repo and build it. make CROSS_COMPILE=arm-linux-gnueabihf- orangepi_pc_plus_defconfig make CROSS_COMPILE=arm-linux-gnueabihf- This make me a u-boot-sunxi-with-spl.bin file which I transferred to my SD card. 56. Hello everyone, my wife has transitioned my family to google calendars and in an effort to keep myself up to date I built a Magic Mirror using an OP PC+. It worked beautifully in testing in standard video layout but to effectively use the screen I have mounted it rotated in a frame and this is where my problems began. Upon rotating the image in XFCE either 90 or 270 degrees video performance drops to single digit FPS. No increase in CPU utilisation so i cannot understand what the issue is. I have done a bit of googling and there is litle information and no apparent solution available. has anyone else suffered with this? …

Very often when i do apt update or apt dist-upgrade some of the armbian mirrors acts up and pretty much denies connections (it isnt the generic debian mirrors as other distros are working fine). I assume they are just overloaded and theres not much to do about that. But it has caused one of my system to be out of date for a few weeks I assume because the unattended upgrade script doesnt retry. How do I get this to work? for example some times i have to retry up to 10 times before I can get apt to work (when I try manually). The apt configuration in etc is a bit of magic to me so Id appreciate if someone can guide me to get unattended upgrades to retry connecti…

  93. I managed to get my waveshare 2.8" SPI LCD (https://www.waveshare.com/wiki/2.8inch_RPi_LCD_(A)) to display console in an orangepi zero LTS board, using the DT overlay and instructions given here: My dts file has changes as explained in the comments of the attached waveshare_32b_28a_opipc2.dts file in that post. Armbian version being used is as follows: uname -a Linux orangepizero 5.10.60-sunxi #21.08.1 SMP Wed Aug 25 18:19:32 UTC 2021 armv7l armv7l armv7l GNU/Linux I want to display a GUI desktop on this screen but I keep getting errors. I firstly tried the instructions given here for a different orangepi board: https://diyprojects.io/armbian-t…

Hello, I'm having trouble playing some videos on Orange Pi 3 (http://www.orangepi.org/Orange%20Pi%203/), especially those with full HD quality. I can even play the video, but it keeps crashing. I'm using MPV or VLC applications to play the video stream directly from YouTube. It is noteworthy that .mp4 files have crashing too, depending on the quality of the video. I'm using the following command, for example: mpv https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_nJSlGRgX4 or vlc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_nJSlGRgX4 How does the hardware have these specifications: CPU: H6 Quad-core…

  95. Hi, I hope this is the right place to post this question. I just installed Armbian onto a Odroid XU4 and it looks great but I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure out why I can't paste more than about 146 characters into the terminal. I'm logged in over SSH. I'm trying to create a text file by pasting the contents in from my mac's clipboard and every time it only pasts the last ~140 characters of the text. I've tried everything and searched everywhere and can't figure out where this is being limited. Any help would be greatly appreciated : ) Joel.

  96. I have a Waveshare 2.8 A TFT LCD (https://www.waveshare.com/wiki/2.8inch_RPi_LCD_(A)) and I used it with the orange pi zero LTS board using the instructions given here: I used Armbian_5.90_Orangepizero_Ubuntu_bionic_next_4.19.57.img as the OS, downloaded from the Armbian download page archives. It worked on the first try, and displayed the console on the LCD screen. I was able to log into the Orangepi Zero board from the serial port (ttyS0) connected to the PC, from ssh in Putty on the same PC, and also from the console shown in the LCD (tty1) using a keyboard attached directly to the orangepi zero. I started following other tutorials to try and …

Is there an SPI LCD module that works out of the box with the latest armbian image for the orange pi zero board? I am using Armbian_21.08.1_Orangepizero_focal_current_5.10.60.img and it seems to be missing fbtft_device file which looks like it is very important. I have also seen forums and blog posts that say SPI LCD will not work, or there are no working drivers, for linux kernel 4 and higher, and that I should use linux kernel 3. I am currently also testing out Armbian_5.90_Orangepizero_Ubuntu_bionic_next_4.19.57.img which I believe has kernel 4.19.57. Where can I download an older image that has kernel version less than 4? The LCD I need to use …

Hello, I have a few small questions: Cubietruck with latest Armbian Two log folders, /var/log and /var/log.hdd, the first kept in RAM that's regularly copied to the SD-Card, keeping the wear of the SD small This used to work flawlessly, I don't know when this changed Lately I realized that the RAM-disk is flooded very quickly by something that is writing to /var/log/journal/random_hex_number/ until it runs OOM. Almost all other logs are empty, likely because a lot more gets written to the journal log. Unfortunately the content of all files in the journal subfolder contain binary data, the only commonality I see is that all files start…

  100. I apologize if this is not specific to armbian but it's really becoming a problem for me I am using Orange pi Zero LTS board and the Armbian image provided in the official downloads page (Armbian_21.08.1_Orangepizero_focal_current_5.10.60.img). I use the serial terminal and Putty in a Windows 10 PC to use this board uname -a result: Linux orangepizero 5.10.60-sunxi #21.08.1 SMP Wed Aug 25 18:19:32 UTC 2021 armv7l armv7l armv7l GNU/Linux I am using the serial console to control the board. If I type in a long string in one line, after a certain number of characters the string wraps to the beginning of the line by itself. The command itself i…
