I am trying to install box86 and possibly box64 on my Orange pi zero 2w. I tried using armbian-gaming as well as following the instructions found here, and attempting to build box86 with both resulted in a gcc error unrecognized command line option '-marm' Upon attempting to build box64 with the instructions, I get a make error 2, and the topmost error is a ccl error unknown value 'loongarch64' for '-march' This seems to be cross-compilation errors, but IDK what steps to take to fix it. Thanks in advance! QuowLord

I have a project where I would like to connect two project boards together with an Ethernet cable. No router, no hub, just two boards with a patch of cat5 between them. In order to make this work I need to get a Link-local IPv4 address on each (RFC 3927). I believe this is done with avahi, but I'm unsure if avahi is simply name resolution or if it performs the link-local address allocation as well. Anyway here's what I've tried: sudo apt-get install avahi-daemon avahi-discover libnss-mdns # sudo reboot -r now # systemctl script on reboot to log IP to file with `hostname -I` What I find is that when I'm hooked up to my router `hostname -I` reports wha…

Hello there, My board had just rebooted with no notice, so I wanted to take a look at /var/log/syslog in order to diagnose the issue, but for some reason, there are no logs between Dec 30 and the moment my board rebooted. Why are logs missing? What do I need to do in order to keep them the next time my board reboots? Also, am I looking at the right place to diagnose reboots? Thanks for you help! PS1: My board is the Helios64 and I'm running Armbian 20.11.4 Buster with OMV 5. PS2: I know there is an Helios64 Club, though I did not choose to post there as I'm not sure if this issue is specific to that board.

I need to get an armbian focal image for the Rpi4b. I've checked in https://archive.armbian.com and it only shows the current jammy variant. If anyone could tell me where I can download the deprecated images, it would be much appreciated.

Hello. I am getting a kernel oops when I setup a masq firewall using firehol. It happenes when a device on the internal net trys anything more than a ping, like loading a web page or doing a speedtest. My network uses interface wlx??? as my external connection to the outside world (internet) and the builtin eth0 as my internal masq’d network (192.168.77.0/24). I am running armbian ubuntu, upgraded (up to date), with the kernel 4.10.0-sun8i and netmanager to configure the interfaces themselves. When I replace eth0 with a cheap usb dongle, everything just works so it seems isolated to the builtin eth0. My eth0 is configured to…

Hi, I have a nanopi neo SBC and my final goal is to get Sunxi-cedrus 2019.03_Release (patched kernel 5.0.0 release) installed on device to test cedrus driver. Did a manual kernel build and tried to dpkg -i *.deb files on the board but the kernel hangs on boot. I read also but that didn't help me so much So I tried same procedure to replace the armbian standard 4.19.20 kernel with an official mainline 4.19.36 version. I found same exact issue so I think I'm missing something. Please have a quick read at the procedure I followed and put any advice to help me going through. 1) touch default kernel .config to have: -…

First off, awesome job on all the Orange PI images. I have only had chance to try the Orange PI 2 image so far There are small issues I can find ,I don't know if their known: I cannot set resolution at all, its stuck on some low one. Doing it with this method here will result in black screen (I tested both with 50 and 60 hz): nano /boot/boot.cmd # example: # change example from # disp.screen0_output_mode=1920x1080p60 # to # disp.screen0_output_mode=1280x720p60 mkimage -C none -A arm -T script -d /boot/boot.cmd /boot/boot.scr Second issue is that reboot command just makes the machine die, it does not come up again. And finally a tiny …

Hello, My sunxi_tp_temp always reports the same value (429496576.0). After digging around, it seems like it's not reading the correct registers. According to the H3 datasheet(1), pp 255-258, the thermal sensor base is at 0x01C25000. The data register is at 0x01C25080. Using the mod_mmio.h and sunxi_tp_temp.c as a guide, I wrote a little utility to print the current SoC temp. #include <stdio.h> #include "mod_mmio.h" // improved temperature print utility // GPLv2 int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { float reading, celsius, farenheit; reading = (float)mmio_read(0x01c25080); //celsius = (reading - 2794.0) / -14.882; Allwinner H3 datasheet formula cels…

While using ubuntu1604-kernel4.4-VAAPLI.img I took downloaded from the server, I came across the following problem. While trying to develop device drivers for kernel space, I realized we dont have any linux headers in the said system. I have tried looking up for the same at Rockchip's github as well as wiki site, but could not find one. Can anyone point me to the correct linux headers ? Hi everyone, After migrating to a nvme ssd using the recommended official adapters, I've run into this issue. (Been really frustrating not been able to boot reliably, replug it until it works) Before I migrated, if I went fdisk -l it would start flashing and always show up. It's only when booting, it seems to be unable to boot/stay on most of the time. 1) I put power into pi. 2) The ssd blinks, if it stops blinking, it didn't boot. If it keeps blinking success. Is there a way to delay mounting the ssd or better debug this issue?

On Xenial A64 I added an entry for a LUKS partition into /etc/crypttab (after installing cryptsetup which added its stuff to uBoot). But at boot I don't get asked for a password If I add a timeout in crypttab, boot continues with a rescue console, if not it hangs forever. Other than that I have no clue what's going on, journalctl only shows "systemd-cryptsetup failed, status 1" obviously because no password was given. I also added dm-crypt to modules and called update-initramfs, but that didn't change anything

Hello, I'm attempting to port an unknown rk3399 board to Linux from Android with kernerl 4.4. I managed to extract the devicetree and it's slowly coming along with poking arround and mixing and matching and comparing devicetrees (it's not easy but I got time ;-) ) The board uses a tc358775 converter for the lvds display since the rk3399 doesn't have one built in. With patch from here: https://forum.armbian.com/topic/16747-orange-pi-4-kernel-510y-mipi-dsi-panel-sucessful/ it started to show some signs of life. The screen is lighting up seems to have activities but it's just showing bars. I'm not sure if it's a timing issues, but I used…

There is a topic in allwinner subforum about the instability of the kernel 4.14.18 on some allwinner devices. I got that stability issues on my banana pi m1, and notice that the last kernel available on armbian still the 4.14.18. Today I also run apt upgrade on raspberry pi 3 and it installed the kernel 4.14.30 that stop the ipsec vpn working, the same as in 4.14.18 used on armbian. I feel some frustration on the latest kernel updates, and wondering if anyone have some info about the next kernel update that solve this issues. Do you advise me to change to nightly builds to get a new kernel to test?

Hi. Can someone please kindly shed a light on Armbian / Debian / Sunxi release information that is confusing me: I run Armbian Buster on two Cubietruck systems - one was freshly installed, the other upgraded from a previous installation. Both systems were apt-updated/apt-upgraded most recently with identical /etc/apt/sources.list, and subsequently rebooted. Both systems report identical "uname -a" (=Linux ... 5.4.30-sunxi #20.02.9 SMP) and /etc/debian_version (=10.3) information. The /boot folders have identical zImage resp. uInitrd links pointing to identical targets. Still the /etc/armbian-release resp. /etc/armbian-image-release infos differ: …

Hi all! I just received a NanoPi R4S, and I got a 128GB microSDXC for it. I loaded the rk3399-sd-friendlywrt-21.02-20220721 image onto it using win32diskimager. I put the SD card in, plugged in a USB-C, and let it setup for a few minutes. When it seemed ready, I plugged my laptop into the LAN port and went to its page. I logged in, all looked good. After setting a password, I tried changing some of the LAN and WAN settings, and the page stopped loading. I waited, but nothing happened. As as how I couldn't give a proper shutdown command, I disconnected the power and plugged back in. The NanoPi then booted, but the Sys light k…

I have been trying to get a 7" waveshare touchscreen to work with the orange pi zero2. I've checked that the touchscreen isn't faulty by using with a raspberry pi. I also checked that the output from the orange pi is working by using my computer monitor. It just doesn't want to output to the touchscreen (hdmi). There seems to be some thin grey horizontal lines. I do get a flicker at startup of the orange pi, but that is about it. Any idea's? I'm new to armbian, so if you have an idea, please list me some steps or point me to some documentation to help. I appreciate the help.

When i set up armbian after first boot, when the screen went to the bottom line, the resolution would not allow me to see the bottom line, so when it asked me to set a password for the user, i hit return - it allowed me to enter a blank password, but now when i try to config for sudo, it does not accept a blank password. If i reinstall the same thing will happen. is there anyway to change or set the admin password from a blank password? 1234 does not work or the new password i set up for root also does not work.

Hello everyone, I'm new user about SBC and armbian. I recently purchased this SBC - purple-pi-oh (rk3566, Number/type of interfaces similar to Raspberry Pi), It has opened up its linux sdk and more. Because its default image version is older, and does not support k3s, cilium, etc (I'm a k8s ops), so I want to use armbian with it. I first directly downloaded and tried all rk3566/3568 images of other SBCs, such as station m2/station p2/Bananapir2pro, etc., and the most pleasant surprise was that using the station m2 image, purple pi oh almost works (can run through the installation process, mouse/keyboard/hdmi monitor works fine), t…

Hello! I was very happy, when the first OrangePI came out and had HDMI and VGA output. With this device it was possible to use the board with two monitors (mirror desktop and expand desktop) I use this board as thin-client in our office - connecting to windows server via rdesktop. Another way we use the boared is working with one monitor via rdesktop and running with the other Monitor or TV-Set a webpage witch is displaying infos. It is running perfect and we can save money because there is very low energy consumation and the OPIs are cheap. I think this kind of using the OPI wourd have good future. Hi everyone, I just installed Armbian on my OrangePi 5, but I can't get it to recognize the NVMe drive. I've tried the official OrangePi Ubuntu distro, and it detects the NVMe without any issues. However, when using Armbian, it simply doesn't show up. I'm not sure what to do at this point. I would really like to use Armbian, but it seems unable to detect the NVMe on this particular device. Interestingly, I have another OrangePi 5 Pro where I installed Armbian, and it recognizes the NVMe and works perfectly fine — but not on the standard OrangePi 5. Does anyone know how to fix this issue, or can you recommend a good alternative? …

I would kindly like to ask you to enable the intermediate functional block, ifb, as a module in the default kernel config for the BPI-R1 CONFIG_IFB=m It should not hurt anyone as it is just a module. The ifb network device is quite useful when doing experiments with tc (trafficx control), and it is absolutely necessary when you want to affect incoming traffic (normal tc netem works only on outgoing packets) Thank you.

Hey folks, I'm looking to build a little portable server to hold a local mirror of my cloud drive and run a light-duty testing server for medium-weight web apps (Django, big PHP blobs, etc). 2GB RAM, SATA support, and fanless are critical, USB 3.0 and GPIO ready to go with no soldering a big plus. I'm planning to get a 500GB SSD and use an Alfa AWUS036ACH 802.11ac USB dongle. Box will run headless except for configuration. I was looking at the EspressoBin but kernel support appears to still be incomplete and there isn't that big of a userbase. I also don't need two of the Ethernet ports on that board. I have an Orangepi PC with OS: Armbian_19.11.6_Orangepipc_buster_current_5.4.8_desktop... I'm trying to communicate hardware through the UART1 ports (GPIO198 and GPIO199, respectively pins 8 and 10), but I'm not able to enable the ports, I've tried modify the file "un8i-h3-orangepi-pc-plus.dtb" but I couldn't, I also tried the solution proposed in this topic: https://forum.armbian.com/topic/1524-orange-pi-one-how-to-enable-uart/ but I couldn't find the script.bin file in the boot folder... I also tried using Minicom, and the message Offline appears. I need to activate UART1 and configure it with 19200,8,1,N. Any tips?

I don't know how to do. I did it in the past on archlinux using getty on tty1, but on armbian it not work. I put my application on /home/user/.profile. The system start, then I connect with ssh and my application start. It seems start as no logged user. Maybe is my board(nanopi neo) that has not output video and I can see output only with ssh or serial cable. Any advice ? Thanks a lot in advance

I am running a Plex Media Server on a headless Orange Pi PC Plus with Armbian Ubuntu server. So far I’ve been able to configure fstab on the server to mount the NAS at boot. That seems to work fine. However, the problem I have is when I have a power failure and everthing reboots at the same time, the server boots before my NAS. I then have to ssh in and run “sudo mount -a”. Is there a way to have the server detect and mount the NAS whenever it’s available to the network?

Hi all. This is not Armbian related. But I don`t know where else to ask. I`m doing research on the NanoPi DUO2 running FriendlyCore with kernel 4.14 for my next review video. I would like to film the video with the DUO2. For that I`ve got a camera, it works. But only at 7 fp/s. On the FriendlyARM wiki it sais: I tried searching for kernel 3.4. But I`m unable to find it(I think). This is what I get. I don`t think/know these are useable. pi@NanoPi-Duo2:~$ sudo apt-cache search linux-headers 3.4 linux-headers-3.4.0-1-hammerhead - Linux kernel headers for version 3.4.0 on Nexus 5 linux-headers-3.4.0-4-goldfish - Linux kernel headers for version 3…

Hello all. I'm obviously a newbie to this all and have a Libre Le Potato I just purchased. Put in Armbian Bullseye and got everything configured so my Python script runs on boot and writes the data it records by sending a byte string through the USB port to a device and records the parsed response. All is well there, but I needed to add an RTC to this and I have many DS3231 boards that I've integrated with Arduino boards recently and they all work well. I've soldered the connections to the 3.3V, GND, SDA, and SCK pins and matched those to the GPIO pins 1, 9, 3, and 5 respectively. I've gone into 'armbian-config' and enabled…

I have connected matrix led display on max7219 by spi to orangepi. Module max7219 have power supply from 5v. On some during a 220v power failure (sparking between wires suspended on poles), there were some disruptions in the 5v power supply. This damaged the max7219 modules and possible spi port on orange pi. After this failure, the /boot/armbianEnv.txt file contained a fragment of the logrotate file, the kernel on the orange pi is unable to initialize the spi port despite no wires being connected. After connecting a working orange pi to the max7219 module, the problem with spi initialization also appears. Dmesg does not show anything related to spi, there is no /dev…

Hello, I've started a project where I'd like to setup a Bananapi M5 with two wifi adapters to use in hotel room for example. Hi, I have a cubietruck 3 with a Debian "Buster". I am looking to connect to the MySQL server to reach an outside database. Everywhere, it is said to comment out the line containing "bind-address = 172.0.0.1". This is done and the server listens on all ports. I still can't reach it, there must be something else to do but the tutorials don't say it. Thanks

I like(*) to connect to the micro-USB port of my OrangePi Zero (H2+) a USB peripheral device, so the port at the OPi must act as host. I have activated the port in armbian-config. Then, following forum posts such as [1], I switched the dr_mode in the port's device tree section to "host". (Decompile, edit, compile, then placed the resulting .dtb file to /boot/dtb-.../, then rebooted.) Nevertheless, the port does not seem to work as host, at least no device is detected in dmesg when plugging the stick in at the port. (same with lsusb) I have tested the stick itself in another hardware setting, and the cabling near the OPi's micro-USB port in so…

I'm running the latest 5.10.21-sunxi kernel. I figured out how to use the PWM pin with the help of this post. Hello, I'm pretty new to Armbian world and still trying to learn how everything works. I have got this Asus Tinker Board R2.0 that I'm trying to use with an Armbian image. However, before flashing the Armbian image to SD and boot from it, is there any way I could emulate the system on my PC, boot from a fresh Armbian ROM, change my preferred settings and install the applications I want, and then transfer the whole "personalised" ROM to an SD and boot from it on my actual Tinker Board. Hi! I'm having trouble with one (only one) of the alsamixer settings. 'MIC1 boost AMP gain control' shoots up to 71 every time I launch a program that uses sound, such as alsaloop or arecord. I've done 'sudo alsactl store', so I can get it back to zero by doing 'sudo alsactl restore'. Obviously that's not something I want to do all the time. I don't have any problems with any other settings. The setting in question completely ruins sound quality for my purposes, so I need it to stay at zero. I'm currently running 5.35 user-built Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS 3.4.113-sun8i. I've tried Debian Jessie as well.

Hello Everyone! I'm currently working on a nano pi m4b with a rockchip 3399 processor on it. I recently purchased an Orange Pi 5 Plus and installed Armbian. It shuts down about every ten minutes. Strangely, when it is streaming video over HDMI it does not shutdown. So it can stream movies for up to three hours without shutting down. But if I am not streaming, for example if I am SSH into the device, it will shutdown after about ten minutes and I get booted out. I disabled system suspend in `settings > Power settings` but this did not help. I also just replaced the power supply with a 4 amp power supply (up from 3.5 amp) but this did not help at all. I also looked around 'armbian-config' but I did not notice any settings that could be the issue. …

Hi I've just downloaded Armbian_21.02.3_Rock64_buster_current_5.10.21.img.xz for my Rock64 and flashed the image to a microSD card using BalenaEtcher. Over the last couple of days I've been writing a menu based script that creates a shutdown script to spin down HDDs during the shutdown phase on Linux based SoC PC. The reason behind the script is to get around an apparent problem whereby HDDs are forcefully being shut off when SoC PCs power off. I have posted this problem myself on the Open Media Vault forums, I have come across it here on the Armbian forums, the ODROID forums and also the Stack Exchange forums. During my script development and test…
