I have a Orange PI PC that I"m setting up as my file server with samba. I am using a hard drive with a SATA to USB adapter for my storage device. I've read and tried many HOW-TOs and none of them seem to get it working properly. Even though, they all say it is easy and it looks easy. I am able to see the shared folder over the network but Windows says that I don't have permissions to access it. One idea that I've had is that I'm not accessing the share folder through the config file. However I'm not sure how to properly access my HDD. Right now I am using the path that you would get from opening the disk on the desktop. Something l…

Hello- I'm looking to marry free and open (as possible) software and hardware into one inexpensive system. I'm in over my head so apologies in advance if I'm asking silly stuff. I did check the basics on here and have been lurking. At any rate I've been messing around with the Lime 2 and haven't had much luck getting Parabola to boot into LXDE... or any GUI at all actually. I thought I'd try Armbian as the Debian Kernel has been blob-less for a while now. I really, really like it so far. I am using Mainline, just want to make sure I'm running all free software if possible. I have checked for non-free stuff via: dpkg-query -W -f='$…

Hello , I'm new to Armbian, I'm trying to create an SD image for an Olimex A13 Som card (https://www.olimex.com/Products/SOM/A13/A13-SOM-512/) + A13 Som WIfi (https: //www.olimex.com/Products/SOM/A13/A13-SOM-WIFI/open-source-hardware). After successfully executing the build and transferring the image to SD with Etcher, the boot starts correctly but hangs on Starting Kernel ... Do you have any idea how to solve the problem? Thanks in advance!

I'm trying to create a microSD card to boot Armbian, but first would be inserted into a Windows laptop to edit some configuration. To make the microSD show up in Windows, the first partition must be a FAT partition, and so Linux would be ext4 partion 2. I suspect I'll need to put the /boot partition on the FAT volume, with directions to load from mmcblk1p2. In case it matters, this is a Rock64 without emmc. I've just started this research, but I'd be grateful for any u-boot-savvy person's help here. Thanks.

I have a question. Because there is a big mess in the naming of the first Orangepi series. I have a board with orangepi mini 2 image working. Archived Armbian 5.05 kernel 3.4.119. Orangepi pi 2 images do not launch. In appearance and specifications, the Orangepi PC 2 and mini 2 are almost identical. https://linux-sunxi.org/Xunlong_Orange_Pi_Mini_2. However, the specification for the mini 2 exists, although the manufacturer himself does not provide it on its main website. Could you add an introduction to the orange pi mini 2 board, with the old 3.4 kernel, so that you can build a system? Or maybe someone has some archival image to share?

Hey. I'm working on setting up octoprint on my opi zero +2(H5), aiming at running octodash on a small 3.5" spi waveshare clone display. So far I've got the display working fine, as in showing the console text, and also working in xorg. However, I have a bit of trouble with the touch part. I've combed through the forum and followed the guides I could find, and have a fairly good working DTS file, however, I can't seem to get pin number 11 to work. In the overlay files, it seems to be named PA1, but I couldn't get that to work, and there were a bit of oddities with what pins seemed to be enabled, in relation to the various overlays. Howe…

Hello. I've tried a kernel I build using the tool orange pi provides, that kernel boots with a good HDMI resolution. However, when I use the default kernel that comes with my fresh armbian installation, I can't get the HDMI resolution to 480p. I set the resolution in boot parameters. I'd appreciate any help.

I am trying to run AWS Greengrass IOT software on an Armbian based Rockpi (latest versions). At its simplest it runs ok using AWs corretto or Java 8. I am running into issue when i try load up a lamda to set up tunnels. I get the following errors from the log file. The issue seems to start because Resource controller is not enabled. Reading further and taking a stab in the dark - this could be referring to the following cgroup_enable=memory cgroup_memory=1 - apparently usually found in a cmdline.txt in the boot folder. Can anyone in the community help ? [INFO] (pool-2-thread-7) com.aws.greengrass.util.platforms.unix.linux.LinuxSystemResourceController: R…

After trying different distro for the BPI M2 Zero, I installed Armbian, and it works great with a standard 16:9 screen. Now I would like to use a bar LCD (Waveshare 7.9 inches); but the setup instructions are for RPI, not for Armbian, so I am not sure how you set up a screen that is not default (And I exclude that I can just plug in the screen and it will magically work. I am not using X interface since the BPI is quite slow, so I am in terminal. Thanks

I'm trying to get the armbian x86-64 generic image to run in virtualbox. I can successfully convert the *.img file to qcow2 and qemu will run it just fine. However, virtualbox fails to boot it in any format (qcow2, vmdk, vhd, vdi, etc). The grub menu comes up, but when trying to boot Linux then it just sits at a blinking cursor. I've tried converting this a variety of ways, such as using `qemu-img convert`, `vboxmanage convertfromraw` and `vboxmanage convertdd`. None of them yield an image that virtualbox will boot. Has anybody else had success with this, and/or know how to fix it? Thanks.

Is there any description how to setup the boot logo? I tried what I found: in build/packages/blobs/splash change logo.png and run command line with "BOOT_LOGO=yes", it doesn't work. After I found "What we use now is plymouth". OK. Does it work in compile time? I don't have plymouth after installing armbian in a docker container. How should I use plymouth (if it is the only way) to make a boot logo in compile time?

I have spent the greater part of the day trying to get fbtft working on an ili9341 display on the nano pi neo with the legacy kernel. I have looked through the forum over and over and I cannot find out how the pins are numbered for fbtft. I got https://github.com/wertyzp/WiringNPand did a gpio readall and that gives me some pin numberings. I have tried both the pins from wPi and BCM. Neither work. I have done this many times on a raspberry pi, but cannot seem to get it to work on any of the H3 stuff. I saw in the forums that in the mainline kernel, there is a mathematical equation for pin numberings. I tried that as well, with no luck. I also tried giving the actual portp…

Hello all, I am unsuccessful in setting up FDE (Full-Disk-Encryption) on an ODROID HC-2. This device has no display output and I have no clue if and how it's possible to debug the boot issue. The boot is done through the micro-SD card and I can mount the micro-SD card successfully on any other host for insight. Is there any known trick how to see what fails during the boot process? How can I do this?

Hello. I installed armbian (22.05 jammy) on my banana pi m1 (original model). Since it doesn't come with onboard wifi, I decided to attach wifi dongle which uses RTL8188EUS chip. However, although i see it is recognized as "realtek ~~ RTL8188EUS network adapter" when i type 'lsusb' command, it doesn't show up as 'wlan0' when i enter 'ifconfig -a' command. What can I do to make the module work again?

For my Orange Pi PC, I just switched from the buggy debian-image to Armbian. Armbian works fantastic, but there is one small problem with my ssh reverse tunnel. On the (old) debian system i had my script tunnel.sh: #!/bin/bash /usr/bin/autossh -p2000 -fNC -R 9000:localhost:9091 -R 5057:localhost:4949 -R 8000:localhost:8888 -R 10012:localhost:22 myusername@www.mydomain.com The remote Pi will call my gateway Pi at port 2000. Whenever i call the gateway-ip:9000 i am at port 9091 on my remote pi etc. Worked flawless. After I changed to Armbian, this mini-script for tunnel.sh works, too: #!/bin/bash /usr/bin/autossh -p2000 -fNC -R 10012:localhost:22 myusername@ww…

Hello to all. I'm trying to use the image Armbian_5.25_Orangepipcplus_Ubuntu_xenial_dev_4.9.4.img but I can not operate the webcam. With the image of the previous version, the webcam worked with gs2035 and vte_v42l modules, which can not find in the current image. Is it an omission or there are compatibility issues? Where could I find instructions (simple, if possible) to compile them? Thank you.

I recently took delivery of a Voltastream Zero, a just-released evaluation board which uses an i.MX6ULL processor. The support forum for that board isn't even up yet. Their main board image has neither the PPP kernel modules nor a C compiler, at least one of which I need in order to use the board for anything. How easy would it be to get a rudimentary Armbian image running on this board? I've had some luck with Armbian on my other boards and would like to see it on this one too. It doesn't have any video output or Ethernet, I just need the very basics.

Hi everyone, I've updated my pcDuino via: Sudo apt-get update Sudo apt-get upgrade I can reach 8.8.8.8 from the terminal and google.com from the Chromium browser. However, I cannot reach any other website. I am guessing it has to do with the latest TLS requirements. TLS 2.0 is required for 99% of global websites. I'm presuming my pcDuino is on an older version for TLS 1.0/1/1 Any thoughts or help is greatly appreciated Thanks

Hi. I bought some time ago a OPi One and a OPi PC. Yesterday i tried to setup them with armbian without success until I switched images from one to another and...it worked. I think that the download page for each should be fixed ( 5.4.20 image ). Made me crazy as a beginner until I figured out, tried different micro sd cards, different power supplies... Sorry for my english. Many thanks for developers who makes something stable for this boards.

I have an OrangePi PC and a BananaPi M1, and both of them are able to switch to USB host mode or device mode by editing dr_mode in corresponding .dtb file. But seems that both board are not able to support HNP protocol. From my understanding, OrangePi PC and BananaPi M1 only has perpherial-only OTG, please correct me if I am wrong. Is there any board that can support HNP? I need something that can switch USB mode(from host mode to device mode or the other way around) without reboot the board Any advice is appreciated

I have attempted to install OMV on my orange pi various times and i have had the same issue weather with the OMV after installation or with the armbian os before the OMV installation. when you start the system, it just won't get it's Ip automatically, at first i thought my orange pi came with a problem from fabric since I'm new to this but after attempting to put an Ip statically seemingly making it work I noticed that it just would not be set automatically. Hey the first time i tried armbian on tronsmart android box with sdcard , it was so seamless and so awesome. I am wondering if anyone has tried armbian on any android tablet. And it would be nice to support any of these tablets out there. In that way you don't have to worry about separate hdmi tv or monitor and accessories to use armbian. I always believe that arm's edge is in mobility, sleek and being minimal .

I have been trying to install a minimal XFCE4 desktop environment onto my Orange Pi Zero 2+ H5 but have run into a weird issue. Here is the command I use... sudo apt-get -y install xorg lightdm xfce4 tango-icon-theme gnome-icon-theme which I had found elsewhere in the forums. The main issue I have is that I cannot start the desktop with the normal user account. It works if I startup with this... sudo startxfce4 which runs the root user desktop, but fails when I try to run it as just a user. Does anybody know what I have done wrong?

@TonyMac32 I have bought a Firefly-RK3399 from firefly ( http://shop.t-firefly.com/goods.php?id=45 ). I did not realize it at the time of purchase, but the Mosfets are unable to provide sufficient power for the board plus the USB ports, EDP connector, MIPI-CSI interface, M.2 slot, etc. I really love the IO of the board and want to try to find a way to get it to work (plus I don't have the money to go trying out more boards ). Would your idea help such a board? Thanks!

Hi all. This is not Armbian related. But I don`t know where else to ask. I`m doing research on the NanoPi DUO2 running FriendlyCore with kernel 4.14 for my next review video. Hello there I have been using my orange pi zero as a network wifi adapter for my computer since it does not have one baked in. But this morning it stopped working. I reinstalled armbian hoping to fix the issue to no avail. I am running armbian 5.83 on opz and ubuntu 19.04 on pc. I attempted setting ethernernet to share network via guy nm as well as nmtui. I get an error from nmtui "could not activate connection: ip configuration could not be reserved (no available adress, timeout, etc) any help would be very appreciated.

Hi guys, I've a nanopim4 V2 running Armbian Focal with Linux 5.7.15-rockchip64, on a Kubernetes k3s cluster, and I realise that time to time, the board crashes (or reboot) but I'm unable to find why. I've checked syslog kernel.log under /var/log.hdd without luck. What else should I check? This is the output of armbianmonitor if it's help. http://ix.io/2vgU Many thanks in advanced. Regards

So I have managed to partially pull out one of the usb sockets on my tv box. The little plastic piece that holds the 4 metal pins has come out while I was pulling out a slightly deformed usb cable. The box still worked while it was on. After a reboot it is not coming on. The LEDs and VFD don't come on. It doesn't boot into armbian or android. Is it safe to say that it is dead? I think I am going to have to try and lift those metal pins. Because they are touching the metal usb housing. Perhaps that is causing a short-circuit somewhere. If all else fails I will try to desolder the whole usb slot. Update: I have bent …

Hello all! Not sure if anyone saw this at all or not but the latest debian (11) now includes the panfrost and lima drivers! https://wiki.debian.org/PanfrostLima If I'm reading things correctly the needed bits and pieces (as well as a recent kernel) are in the packages "libglx-mesa0" and "libgl1-mesa-dri". Thought I would give this a go on a now (somewhat old-ish) Odroid XU4 device. It uses the mali t620 graphics chipset which I believe is in those panfrost drivers. I used the image file "Armbian_21.08.1_Odroidxu4_bullseye_current_5.4.142.img.xz". I did notice that the older kernel in that image (5.4.x) did not seem to detect anythi…

Hello everyone, I'm creating my coursework project and I should create my own C++ library for easier GPIO usage. I tried to execute `sudo armbianmonitor -v` and I got this result. ``` Starting package integrity check. This might take some time. Be patient please... It appears you may have corrupt packages. This is usually a symptom of filesystem corruption caused by SD cards or eMMC dying or burning the OS image to the installation media went wrong. The following changes from packaged state files were detected: /usr/lib/chromium-browser/master_preferences.dpkg-dist ``` This is from new orangepi pc board and new SD Card with new install OS.

I am wondering if anyone else has had any success getting Armbian installed on a Banana Pi M5. I'm definitely a noob at this. After thinking the first M5 I tried it on was perhaps defective, but after trying on a second M5 I had the same result, board will not boot and the Green, Blue and Red lights on the board are all solid (not blinking). I'm afraid I may have bricked both boards. I used bpi-copy to flash the on-board emmc and did not receive any errors in the process. I am unable to boot from emmc or sd card at this point. I tried flashing the SD Card with Debian Bullseye and then on another attempt Ubuntu server (both images had worked previously) but to no ava…

How can I access individual packages that make up the images that are available for download e.g. at https://www.armbian.com/lenovo-x13s/ ? I see only "full image" downloads and no link to information on what was used to build these images. I poked around the dists named "bookworm something" on apt.armbian.com looking for the kernel used, but didn't find any obvious match (no 6.3 kernel version, no kernel that has "x13s" in the package name, ...). Likewise, there is no x13s listed in https://github.com/armbian/build/tree/master/config/sources/families

This isn't Armbian per se, but I thought it worth mentioning for anyone considering a SOPine Baseboard. Pine chose a small coaxial power jack instead of the micro USB for the main 5V input. This jack is kind of an odd size, but it also seems pretty fragile, especially when the extra leverage of a power cable is added to it. I broke the mount on mine within the first 20 minutes of use. It still worked as it was just the mechanical mount, but it became position sensitive and a pain to use. You can still power the board via the Euler bus, and that's what I switched to instead. If this isn't appropriate for this forum, please feel free to move it (or d…

Hi all, I bought a Orange Pi PC 2 a year or two back, loaded the Armbian image successfully and tweaked it until it was just right for my application. As this piece of hardware was going to live on a remote property, I bought another 2 Orange Pi PC 2 boards and some new SD cards with the intention of having 2 backups - one for development and the other as spare. However, when I try to put the SD card from the original Orange Pi PC 2 into one of the newer Orange Pi PC 2 it will …

Hello! For some weeks now my BPM1 behaves a bit strange concerning video output. I used to connect my Banana to my monitor via a HDMI-DVI cable, which worked well for a very long time. Now, when I reboot the system, my monitor says "no signal", when I use that cable, as it does also when I use a pure HDMI-HDMI cable. The only way to make the Banana's video output work, is by using a HDMI-DSUB converter. But here comes the even stranger mystery: after I booted the Banana, using that converter, I can change the cable to whatever I want: HDMI-HDMI or HDMI-DVI, they both suddenly work again! But if I reboot the Banana again, not using the H…

I have a Ubuntu Server 18.04 with postfix installed and configure it the same way as I did on my Helios64 running Armbian 21.02.3 Focal. Last week, one of my older drives died in the Helios, but I didn't get an email about this. My Ubuntu Server 18.04 will send me mails as soon as there's an issue in the SMART values from the drive. I didn't had to configure anything to do that apart from postfix. I can send a test mail from both my Ubuntu Server 18.04 and my Helios64 Armbian and receive both. Any idea what the reason is that my Ubuntu Server 18.04 is sending me those emails by default and how I could enable this on my Helios64?

Initial task: data exchange between a remote server and equipment with a USB interface and CDC RS-232 or HID protocols. Putting a computer / laptop next to it is not an option. I did not find any ready-made solutions, there are only options: 1. Single board computer. Fast, cheap, angry, easy to make a case and PoE power from ready-made components on the market. 2. Arduino - to assemble from prototyping boards is long, difficult and expensive. To develop something of my own - the navel will be untied with my knowledge. 3. Hardware "e…

I don't have a fiber/fast internet connection, and I get around 200kb/s download speed when I use normal apt or apt-get. But apt-fast accelerates download speeds significantly. I go up to 1MB/s using it (I set max connections option to 16 while installing it, you'll know what I mean when you try to install it using apt-add-repository, of course, if you don't know). So I suggest you to use apt-fast in "armbian-config" or any system utility. This suggestion goes to the developers. So that we (users with no good internet connection) can update the system or install the desktop environment a lot faster and easier.

There are updates in the most recent mainline kernel about the Odroid C0/C1/C1+ board: https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/log/?h=v4.20&qt=grep&q=odroid The armbian image with the mainline kernel have not been updated. Could you please update it? I would like to use it. You can officially drop the outdated version with the kernel 3.10. The Kernel 3.10 is not supported any more and have ton of security issues that wont get fixed. Only the mainline kernel is interesting and worth upgrading to latest kernel. Thanks

This Android device uses a Linux4.4 kernel. Considering that my nanopc-T3 lacks the functions required by a higher version of Linux, I would like to transplant the 4.14 version of Linux to this Android device at most without the bootloader source code. What's interesting about the device tree? It seems that the kernel provided by the device manufacturer includes some device drivers that are not included in the Linux kernel nativery. will cross-version compilation be a problem? https://github.com/LineageOS/android_kernel_motorola_msm8998

I was hoping to get some idea if it would be possible to build Armbian for the ODroid OGU (S922X, similar to N2+) using a different Kernel. Specifically, using the version from JelOS (https://github.com/JustEnoughLinuxOS/distribution) who have made really good progress for this specific device. I've been building JelOS and modifying packages etc, but would prefer to use Armbian if possible. Any help appreciated.
