Hi guys, we are working on custom board based on A20, similar to Olinuxino MICRO. Our firmware is Buildroot based, with enabled Cryptodev and openssl with -DHAVE_CRYPTODEV, -DUSE_CRYPTODEV_DIGESTS. I know that we should not expect a drastic performance gain, but I wonder if this thing works at all, since I do not see any load on system level while the user space process still utilizes 100% of CPU on one core. Yes, openssl performance test reports some better numbers after "modprobe cryptodev", but not so good as other people report. I suspect that something is missing. I do not see interrupts with number assigned to crypto-engine in dts. crypto: crypto-engine@1c…

Hi, need some help here. I'm running an orangepiwin: root@orangepiwin:~# uname -a Linux orangepiwin 3.10.107-pine64 #11 SMP PREEMPT Sun Feb 11 19:22:44 CET 2018 aarch64 aarch64 aarch64 GNU/Linux I try to use it for my 3d printers, by using a thing like octoprint or repetier server. I woud prefer repetier as due to its smaller footprint. I have issues to etsablish usb communication - it works fine on raspbrian on an rasppi3, so I guess the printer(s) are fine. I think this is related to the USB communication, I can see that the printer is detected. root@orangepiwin:~# ls -la /dev/ttyU* crw-rw---- …

Hello, please, 1. how does nand-sata-install work in case my Armbian on microSD card is read-only mode? 2. Will nand-sata-install copy whole card to emmc or do I need to have read-write system on microSD card before I execute command? (I mean if it copy my OS from card properly and it will be also in read-only mode on emmc) 3. And I am I able somehow to write system to emmc from *.img file stored on sd card? Many thanks

I use this method and it works like a charm: void setup(){ pinMode(0,INPUT); pinMode(1,INPUT); } void loop(){ } Just upload this code, and connect GND to GND, TX to RX and RX to TX, then connect your Arduino to your computer, it will get a name like COM3, connect that com port, and you're in! You can also use PuTTY for connecting to the com port. Spoiler

I don't have a fiber/fast internet connection, and I get around 200kb/s download speed when I use normal apt or apt-get. But apt-fast accelerates download speeds significantly. I go up to 1MB/s using it (I set max connections option to 16 while installing it, you'll know what I mean when you try to install it using apt-add-repository, of course, if you don't know). So I suggest you to use apt-fast in "armbian-config" or any system utility. This suggestion goes to the developers. So that we (users with no good internet connection) can update the system or install the desktop environment a lot faster and easier.

Hi guys, first of all I want to thank all of the users so far contributing to these armbian images. The images are extremely stable and my personally preffered platform for Smart Home installations. Unfortunately started using the 1-Wire BUS I am experiencing issues with the current kernel. At least this is what syslog entries let me assume. Everything seems fine for some hours or sometimes even days. Then suddenly (often at night) the USB Hostadapter seems to get disconnected and the system need to be rebooted completely to get 1-Wire to work again. I already searched the net a bit and found many users having those issues with several …

Hi, I need to compile armbian to set some kernel modules. Now the compiled kernel is installed and armbian is up. For some reason using armbin-add-overlay results in Missing dtc compiler in kernel headers directory. Please reinstall the kernel headers package I have installed the all packages I have build. . ├── linux-dtb-next-sunxi_5.53_armhf.deb ├── linux-headers-next-sunxi_5.53_armhf.deb ├── linux-image-next-sunxi_5.53_armhf.deb └── linux-u-boot-next-nanopineo_5.53_armhf.deb So the matching kernel headers should be installed.

Hi, 1st - thanks for your wonderful job. I really like using Armbian. I have setup a few small nanopi neo's with spotify / airplay / Bluetooth to play music via Echo-Dots with line in connected speakers. Now I would like to make this setup as stable as it can be., so I was thinking about making those SD cards read only. What I got from here - on the old kernel 3.4 there is an option - apt-get install overlayroot. Sadly I'm on the latest Debain based image - fritz@nanopineo2:~$ uname -a Linux nanopineo2 4.14.18-sunxi #24 SMP Fri Feb 9 16:24:32 CET 2018 armv7l GNU/Linux unionfs-fuse is maybe a goo…

I'm trying to access GPIO through python using the following library: https://github.com/duxingkei33/orangepi_PC_gpio_pyH3 Online guides say that for OPi One this should be a plug and play solution. However, for me, the pins dont seem to be mapping properly, running dir(ports) and dir(connector) yields the results shown here All the PAx pins are missing, and the results bare no similarity to the actual pin config found here any help appreciated, Andy

I have several rock64, rpi, and opi boards but only one ftdi232 serial adapter. Since not each board has hdmi output or in some cases it is buggy a serial connection is the only way for me to see what's going on. If I remove the adapter from a running board and plug it in immediately again I still get serial output, however, if I plug it in after a while I don't get any output. Any ideas what could be the reason and how to fix this?

I am using Armbian 4.14 kernel on a custom board. As soon as the boards boots up I get a lot of oops and memory address fault. Software works on another board that use same memory and mtest always succeeds on faulty board even with complementary patterns. I have got the feedback that this new memory belongs to the newest revision level so SDRAM parameters needs to be updated. However I am using the 4.14 kernel so .fex configuration is not taken into consideration by the kernel, although initialize the SDRAM controller is bootloader->SPL's duty. Anyone knows how to update SDRAM parameters without using .fex config file or compile u-boot and SP…

Just recently started getting ICE when building large C/C++ code using both GCC and CLANG. I suppose memory is failing in some way related to HW. On x86 Ubuntu I have memtest86+ in GRUB, but how do I test for memory errors on Armbian? I tried memtester and stressapptest but they test only part of memory, and so far don't show any errors, does something similar to memtest86+ exist for ARM?

My headless Orange Pi Zero Plus was configured to boot from a powered external USB2 drive with 3 partitions, a 48Gb linux partition populated by armbian-config, a 4Gb swap partition and a 800Gb NTFS data partition (shared by Samba). The setup is stable and works beautifully when powered up from the powered off state. The Pi fails to start when I reboot it. I suspect that the USB port or drive or both need some kind of reset when a reboot occurs. Has anybody encountered this problem? Is there a known solution?

@TonyMac32 I have bought a Firefly-RK3399 from firefly ( http://shop.t-firefly.com/goods.php?id=45 ). I did not realize it at the time of purchase, but the Mosfets are unable to provide sufficient power for the board plus the USB ports, EDP connector, MIPI-CSI interface, M.2 slot, etc. I really love the IO of the board and want to try to find a way to get it to work (plus I don't have the money to go trying out more boards ). Would your idea help such a board? Thanks!

Hello! In the process of setting up the settings in my new Armbian Bionic install on a 16 GByte installed MicroSD, I tried to set the clock preferences in the XFCE4 but as soon as I close the preferences application, it reverts to an invalid state and the clock disappears. It wasn't a fresh MicroSD and I'm concerned that it's trying to "save on a bad sector" or something when I set up the preferences. Is there a way I can test for the possibility that my MicroSD is wearing out? The power supply I'm using came with the board and has been adequate for all other OS uses. It may just be a file permission bug or something needing a "sudo". Either way, I'm conc…

After upgrade two of my boards to mainline (4.14.51-sunxi) I have noticed that simple command apt list basically stopped working. It stuck at "Listing ..." So far (15 minutes)... nothing. apt list --installed is also very slow, but after some time it gives results. However, it is much slower than on "default" (3.4.113-sun8i) Can anybody check it and reconfirm?

Since some H2 and H3's run hotter than some people would like, and people are measuring voltages etc I thought I'd make the following warnings for your benefit in the hope that we collect quality data and solve all challenges quickly. Measuring voltage accurately Your DMM (digital multimeter) may lie to you. Measure the input voltage as well as the test voltages before posting voltage readings. Check with the resistance setting that the resistance of your probes touching each other is close to 0 ohms. I own many DMM's and one of them reports horribly inaccurate voltages when the 9v battery is near or less than 8v. If your DMM sucks, buy a better one (link at botto…

Hello, I would like to set up a small server, mostly for home sftp & torrent needs (maybe a voip server like Mumble). My requirements and questions fall into 3 categories: 1.) instaled today this last version of armbian (4.14) and when trying to install "libmysqlclient-dev" i have the follow message: "Package libmysqlclient-dev is not avaliable, but is referred to by another package. This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or is only avaliable from another source. E: package 'libmysqlclient-dev' has no installation candidate" What shoolud i do? Cant found older armbian versions... Will armbian use libmysqlclient-dev again? I really need to use this lib, always have used before... thx for any assist!

Hi, I am new with Rockchip. I use Raspberry Pi earlier. I try make Python(3.5) program from remote PyCharm using Kivy (Win7). My problem is somewhere in OpenGL ES extension. I can install OpenGL and OpenGL ES but Python/Kivy cant use that. I read from some topic that I need some other X server? Kivy just tell me that "Couldn't find matching GLX visual". I try to solve my problem many days, but can't find correct answer anywhere... Whit Raspberry I didn't have this problem. I just install OpenGL and all work then. I use Firefly AIO-3399J board, Xubuntu 16.04. Also have problem with dual LVDS but trying solve that whit Firefly…

Hi all, Semi-noob here so please be patient :) With the OPi Zero having rubbish WiFi I added a USB WiFi adaptor. I know it works as I've been using it on my OPi One running Retrorangepi. The Zero will be running OctoPrint in a room too far away from the router to run Ethernet cables. To initially set it up I connected the Zero to my router, logged in and disabled the onboard wireless adaptor, plugged in the USB and rebooted. Ran armbian-config and set up a static IP (192.168.1.30). Then I shutdown the Zero and unplugged the Ethernet cable and powered up the Zero again. Lan scan shows the IP address as up but ping shows 100% …

Hi, I'm trying to use orange Pi PC+ as router with AWUS036ACS rtl8811au wireless card. I did benchmarks on PC with ubuntu 16.04 and driver from github (8812au version 4.3.20-beta). I can achieve max throughput possible on speedtest at very close range (120Mbit). Same driver on orange pi mainline Armbian Stretch and barely can hit 10Mbit mark. Tried different drivers and default driver from kernel tree which is version 5.15 and results are the same, miserable. I have 2nd orange pi with legacy kernel, tried only one driver that I could compile there (4.2.2) and results are somehow better but still far from PC. Any ideas where this bottleneck could c…

Minor tweak. I don't have gethostname() (Actually I think that's a C function, not an executable.) Anyway my Rock64 didn't show up my wifi network by name. In /etc/dhcp/dhclient.conf I changed: #send host-name = gethostname(); send host-name = $HOSTNAME; Now it works. And $HOSTNAME is just whatever's in /etc/hostname so you may need to change it if you've got 2 or more machines of the same kind. I mostly lug around a cell phone and I can ftp or ssh to rock64 from anywhere in the house.

I bought that DAC to my OPi - I tought it will be easier. I've configure PCM and TWI in FEX file (IIS works perfect on oscilloscope). Also I've made mods on DAC's board - Raspberry has PCM at other pins. But SPDIF still not working. I suppose, that WM8804 is in software mode, so I have to config it via IIC. My 3.4.113 Armbian doesn't have driver for that DAC. What can I do?

hi: I want to use my orange pi to control some network devices which has rs232 console port. so I enable uart1 as 2 pin mode, and buy some rs232-ttl converter board. then I found these rs232-ttl converters is not working under my situation. they do work when I use my PC to control orange pi (so this is RS232 -> TTL). they don't work when I use my orange pi to control rs232 device (so this is TTL-> RS232, not working). it seems there is something difference between RS232->TTL and TTL->RS232. now I wonder if TTL->RS232 possible? or I need enable 4 pin mode and find another kind of converter for the work? thanks a …

We had a power outage the other day and though I have UPS coverage on all my computers, TV's, switches, router and Arm boards I forgot to shut down the ARM boards gracefully before shutting off the UPS that protects them. Later, all my PI's booted back up just fine but my Le Potato is not responding. I verified that the SD card still shows a Linux system but am not sure what all to look at to repair boot problems. I tested the Le Potato with another fresh Armbian install and it booted up just fine so the hardware is not an issue. I am lamenting not having made a backup of the card before this happened but was still tweaking stuff and didn't think about it (next time I…

I recently had a sopine module start to fail on me. The symptom was most boots would fail partway through the boot. It would just stop, serial console output stops, the board powers off. Note that this is identical to lower power but in this case was not (I have multiple sopine modules and work with them daily). I successfully mitigated this issue by underclocking. Specifically I did three things: Underclocking in U-Boot I added the following line to `/boot/boot.cmd` and compiled the file: mw 0x1c20000 0x80000900 Per the Allwinner A64 manual (p84), this sets the CPU to the lowest clock speed possible: 240MHz. The formula use…

Previously I just edited /etc/network/interfaces (or added file to interfaces.d), but Ubuntu 18.04 uses Netplan now. The old way worked by editing the SD card, so you never had to login into the serial console. Both my Orange Pi Pc and Orange Pi Zero have horrifically slow/laggy/issues with SSH. Random drops, connection issues, and EXTREME lagginess with keyboard input. Sometimes the session will "freeze" randomly. This is after re-installation on fresh SD cards that work well otherwise. Power supplies have been used before with same boards and same SD cards, but after re-installation of various armbian installations, it's laggy. I'm not even sure which version I started with initially with my orange pi zero which I had first, but I had upgraded and upgraded and upgraded through versions...and figured a fresh install couldn't hurt. It hurt. Th…
