I added a script lurking around on my disk for some time to Armbian's repo to be hopefully included into future Armbian releases when testing looks good: https://github.com/igorpecovnik/lib/blob/master/scripts/h3consumption Since it's just a script you can include it in your running Armbian installation simply by downloading it from Github -- try it this way please: sudo -s wget -q -O /usr/local/bin/h3consumption "https://raw.githubusercontent.com/igorpecovnik/lib/master/scripts/h3consumption" chmod 755 /usr/local/bin/h3consumption h3consumption -H h3consumption -p The last 2 calls will show the verbose help text along with current settings. Cant found older armbian versions... Will armbian use libmysqlclient-dev again? I really need to use this lib, always have used before... thx for any assist!

Hi, I'm trying to use orange Pi PC+ as router with AWUS036ACS rtl8811au wireless card. I did benchmarks on PC with ubuntu 16.04 and driver from github (8812au version 4.3.20-beta). I can achieve max throughput possible on speedtest at very close range (120Mbit). Same driver on orange pi mainline Armbian Stretch and barely can hit 10Mbit mark. Tried different drivers and default driver from kernel tree which is version 5.15 and results are the same, miserable. I have 2nd orange pi with legacy kernel, tried only one driver that I could compile there (4.2.2) and results are somehow better but still far from PC. Any ideas where this bottleneck could c…

I've built the latest armbian (5.48 & 5.46) for all the different versions (default, next & dev) and they all have issues starting the wifi ! If i manually do an ifdown/ifup it usually comes up (say 80% of the time) I was just wondering if anyone else had seen this issue or is it just me ..... Thanks, TB

After upgrade two of my boards to mainline (4.14.51-sunxi) I have noticed that simple command apt list basically stopped working. It stuck at "Listing ..." (at this moment 1 core of CPU is utilized in 100%). Now I run it in background to see if eventually it will be completed... So far (15 minutes)... nothing. apt list --installed is also very slow, but after some time it gives results. However, it is much slower than on "default" (3.4.113-sun8i) Can anybody check it and reconfirm?

Hello there, I am looking a way to get / write a script for the file to be run on startup. I am running PiAware with dump1090-fa installed. I would like to having the view1090-fa --modeac to be auto run when the system is ON. Is there a way to get this work without my concern in the future? Currently if I need to run this command, I need to run SSH and remote the Pi to run this command from my PC. Thank you in advance. Regards, SaiHou

Hello, I compiled a little GUI application using Qt for my Orangepi One, Running Armbian 5.41 (Mainline) . However, when executing I get the following error message: libEGL warning: DRI2: failed to authenticate I figured this was related to the graphics driver. However Mesa is running fine with the glxgears -info test showing up normally and rendering just fine. I didn't see anything unusual in glxinfo either. I found this https://raspberrypi.stackexchange.com/questions/61078/qt-applications-dont-work-due-to-libegl and symlinked the library files, but the proposed fix is not working for me. Do you guys have any ideas?

Hello, I want to share my printer Xerox Workcenter 6015B using my Orange Pi Zero. My Cups configuration seems to be ok. I am using this driver http://foo2hbpl.rkkda.com/ on other computers for long time and it works fine. When I am trying print test page, after few seconds it shows me status completed, but it is not printing. I tried to view error log files in /var/log/cups/error_log , but I didnt find anything useful there. I am using cups version 2.2.1 (newest in official repository). I also tried use my Raspberry Pi, but I had same problem. When I installed it on my notebook, everything was working fine. Here is result of armbianmonitorhttp://i…

My printer doesn't work. Armbian sees the printer but I cannot print anything. Via console command or for example Google Chrome print it doesn't work. My printer is a cannon printer. And the system is a new system, has nothing changed. As I mentioned in the title, it's a plus 2 board. Also the system is up-to-date. SOLVED ------ Installed cups-driver-gutenprint then my printer appeared on the list. "apt-get install cups-driver-gutenprint"

Since some H2 and H3's run hotter than some people would like, and people are measuring voltages etc I thought I'd make the following warnings for your benefit in the hope that we collect quality data and solve all challenges quickly. Measuring voltage accurately Your DMM (digital multimeter) may lie to you. Measure the input voltage as well as the test voltages before posting voltage readings. Check with the resistance setting that the resistance of your probes touching each other is close to 0 ohms. I own many DMM's and one of them reports horribly inaccurate voltages when the 9v battery is near or less than 8v. If your DMM sucks, buy a better one (link at botto…

A coworker of mine gave me a 5 inch hdmi touchscreen (waveshare knockoff). Getting hdmi to work properly on my orangepi pc was done in a few minutes. But the touchscreen drives me nuts. It came with a xpt2046 so I loaded the ads7846 driver I compiled from fbtft. No error messages, but also no response to a touch. It took me a week to finally realize that not the wiring, the driver or Armbian is was the problem, but the touch digitizer was. So I ordered a new one on my favorite Chinese site and installed it on the lcd. Finally I got a response to touching the screen, but I was not able to calibrate it with xinput_calibrator. After manually calibrating it …

Hi all, Semi-noob here so please be patient :) With the OPi Zero having rubbish WiFi I added a USB WiFi adaptor. I know it works as I've been using it on my OPi One running Retrorangepi. The Zero will be running OctoPrint in a room too far away from the router to run Ethernet cables. To initially set it up I connected the Zero to my router, logged in and disabled the onboard wireless adaptor, plugged in the USB and rebooted. Ran armbian-config and set up a static IP (192.168.1.30). Then I shutdown the Zero and unplugged the Ethernet cable and powered up the Zero again. Lan scan shows the IP address as up but ping shows 100% …

Hi All, I'm using Ubuntu 16.04 as my OS system and i.MX6DL SabreSD as my cpu. I build my linux kernel with Yocto Project. Now I'm trying to protect the root filesystem with Overlayroot. Hi, I am currently working on a OLinuxIno A20 limeX system which works in read only mode. I use the code I developped here: https://github.com/lauhub/debian-to-readonly I have small problems with armbian evolutions, since it uses, creates and modifies some files in some directories that should not be modified according to this page. Example of files : /etc/init.d/armhwinfo (modifies permissions of /etc/logrotate.d/armhwinfo) /sbin/fake-hwclock (creates /etc/fake-hwclock.data) /etc/update-motd.d/40-updates /usr/local/bin/armbianmonitor (modifies /etc/armbianmonitor/datasources/soctemp) I can easily disable these files for my purposes, but I would be gla…

Minor tweak. I don't have gethostname() (Actually I think that's a C function, not an executable.) Anyway my Rock64 didn't show up my wifi network by name. In /etc/dhcp/dhclient.conf I changed: #send host-name = gethostname(); send host-name = $HOSTNAME; Now it works. And $HOSTNAME is just whatever's in /etc/hostname so you may need to change it if you've got 2 or more machines of the same kind. I mostly lug around a cell phone and I can ftp or ssh to rock64 from anywhere in the house.

I bought that DAC to my OPi - I tought it will be easier. I've configure PCM and TWI in FEX file (IIS works perfect on oscilloscope). Also I've made mods on DAC's board - Raspberry has PCM at other pins. But SPDIF still not working. I suppose, that WM8804 is in software mode, so I have to config it via IIC. My 3.4.113 Armbian doesn't have driver for that DAC. What can I do?

I'm not sure if anyone is interested in a very small distro without gcc, but I spent some time the last week using buildroot and armbian's source files to create a 3.4.112-rt image for the nanopi neo. It is going to be part of a realtime audio project (think synth or guitar pedal) that I'm working on and it demands a quick boot, among other things. There is also a mainline version, but it doesn't have all the fixings you folks like, so I don't know if you'd want to use that. You can find the build scripts and config files on my github. I'll be posting the legacy image in a zip file tonight, once I verify everything is reproducible. I…

hi: I want to use my orange pi to control some network devices which has rs232 console port. so I enable uart1 as 2 pin mode, and buy some rs232-ttl converter board. then I found these rs232-ttl converters is not working under my situation. they do work when I use my PC to control orange pi (so this is RS232 -> TTL). they don't work when I use my orange pi to control rs232 device (so this is TTL-> RS232, not working). it seems there is something difference between RS232->TTL and TTL->RS232. now I wonder if TTL->RS232 possible? or I need enable 4 pin mode and find another kind of converter for the work? thanks a …

I'm currently designing a PCB which will use a nanopi duo board. Unfortunately it is not in stock at the moment so I can't order one yet to verify some measurements. I recently had a sopine module start to fail on me. The symptom was most boots would fail partway through the boot. It would just stop, serial console output stops, the board powers off. Note that this is identical to lower power but in this case was not (I have multiple sopine modules and work with them daily). I successfully mitigated this issue by underclocking. Specifically I did three things: Underclocking in U-Boot I added the following line to `/boot/boot.cmd` and compiled the file: mw 0x1c20000 0x80000900 Per the Allwinner A64 manual (p84), this sets the CPU to the lowest clock speed possible: 240MHz. Previously I just edited /etc/network/interfaces (or added file to interfaces.d), but Ubuntu 18.04 uses Netplan now. The old way worked by editing the SD card, so you never had to login into the serial console. I'm not sure if there's a way to do this with Netplan, but this is what I did to get wifi working: Login via serial console or plug in Ethernet (I used the Duo mini shield which has Ethernet port) sudo nano cat /etc/netplan/armbian-default.yaml network: version: 2 renderer: NetworkManager wifis: wlan0: dhcp4: no addresses: [192.168.1.69/24] gateway4: 192.168…

Hello, I have a 7 in lcd touchscreen that I would like to use with my 'le potato' board. I have begun using Armbian Le Potato Debian Stretch. I would like to get this working and would explore many options but when it breaks down i have: utilized putty to ssh into my 'le potato' with ethernet on my main router and typed in fbset to reveal... putty ssh screenshot I was curious about other possible options in Armbian like utilizing a config file or converting a .bin file to fex and changing the values. However, I have had no luck in utilizing an hdmi touchscreen besides maintaining usb power and flickering. Would anyone have a method of touchs…

Both my Orange Pi Pc and Orange Pi Zero have horrifically slow/laggy/issues with SSH. Random drops, connection issues, and EXTREME lagginess with keyboard input. Sometimes the session will "freeze" randomly. This is after re-installation on fresh SD cards that work well otherwise. Power supplies have been used before with same boards and same SD cards, but after re-installation of various armbian installations, it's laggy. I'm not even sure which version I started with initially with my orange pi zero which I had first, but I had upgraded and upgraded and upgraded through versions...and figured a fresh install couldn't hurt. It hurt. Th…

Hi all, I have the Orange Pi PC+ with installed latest armbian. system installed on eMMC. When I connect the LCD 7" ( http://www.waveshare.com/wiki/7inch_HDMI_LCD_(C) ) via hdmi to Orange Pi PC+ I only have a white screen. I do not know where I could change the settings in Armbian so that I can see the normal image on this display just like on a computer monitor. For RPi3 I knew what to do and where because it is described on wiki page for this display. Unfortunately I do not know linux well.

Breaking the ice here. So hello everyone. I am still entry into SBCs and have been loving every moment of it. I started with the Raspberry PI 3B, and have recently been playing with the new Asus Tinkerboard. One of my SBC projects is to build a little media streaming device for some dumb monitors with HDMi input I have lying around. The Tinkerboard was very appealing to me because of its gigabit Ethernet, I thought it would make a much better quality internet streaming device. We seem to be lacking a browser for ARMh7 that can support Netflix and other like services playback. chromium is missing the needed WideVine plugin, and I have yet to find a …

my ISP blocks port 80 so I need to use something like port 82 for a server I want to run from my house. I wanted to share my workaround of setting the proper resolution on both, console and Xorg: Display: Generic 5 inch 800x480 HDMI "Waveshare V2" clone Kernel: mainline Proper/usual way of doing it: 1. Edit uboot/dtb display variable -> does not work currently because only a few resolutions are supported (848x480 is the closest). 2. Add a new mode with "xrandr" and "gtf or cvt" -> but "cvt 800 480 60" does yield a modeline which totally glitches out the display. Possible workaround: 1. Set linux console to 800x480: "sudo fbset -g 800 480 800 480 32" 2. Edit or create something similar to "/etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/01-a…

If you want to get ahead of the curve a little I've been testing libgpiod master with User Space IO. This version includes Python bindings, so I'm no longer generating CFFI bindings for this library. I've converted all the example code to use the new bindings. User Space IO is Python 3 and Java 8 bindings for Linux user space GPIO, SPI, I2C, PWM and Serial interfaces. User Space IO is a consistent API for C, Python 3 and most JVM languages. No more hacked up RPi.GPIO and WiringPi for each SBC model.

Hi, We are testing our orange pi one in critical external environments like warehouses, manufacturing and other. In some cases, even if the good case there is a misconnection between the sd card and the orange pi one. Connected in ssh i can access the orange pi but a lot of command cannot responde anymore, like ls, top, htop, tail and others. Even the reboot shows me the input-output-error, and the only way to reboot the hardware is using "echo b > /proc/sysrq-trigger". When this happens, i tried create a cron with 'at' or background jobs using sh like './script.sh &' with the content "echo b > /proc/sysrq-trigger" but still not works. …

I've just finished using the build tool to create an Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS (kernel 4.14.34-sunxi) image for this Orange Pi Zero, booted from SD, logged in, and everything was going fine. Then I: Added the following to /etc/modules: g_ether gadgetfs dummy_hcd Upon rebooting the board, my iMac Pro host popped up the UI from Parallels to ask me if I wanted it connected to the Mac or VM, then the machine kernel panicked. It panicked again upon reboot until I unplugged the board. I had zero panics before I made this change. I then inserted it into my MacBook Pro and that machine panicked as well. Here …

There is a topic in allwinner subforum about the instability of the kernel 4.14.18 on some allwinner devices. I got that stability issues on my banana pi m1, and notice that the last kernel available on armbian still the 4.14.18. Today I also run apt upgrade on raspberry pi 3 and it installed the kernel 4.14.30 that stop the ipsec vpn working, the same as in 4.14.18 used on armbian. I feel some frustration on the latest kernel updates, and wondering if anyone have some info about the next kernel update that solve this issues. Do you advise me to change to nightly builds to get a new kernel to test?

I'm spending some time on one of those famous Q8 tv boxes (ENY Q8, VSmart Q8, etc...) which sports the rk3288 soc I started with recent u-boot and kernel releases. Rockchip provides a recent u-boot (late 2017) and an LTS 4.4 kernel on their rockchip-linux github account. I compiled u-boot (from here) using a the device tree source from DengueTim (available here, in arch/arm/boot/dts/rk3288-q8.dts). I had to enable the serial driver though, because the device tree is "kernel flavour", instead u-boot wanted explicitly the serial port in "chosen" section. Compilation goes fine and u-boot boots from the SD card, prints Model, Ram and MMC infos on …
