Anyone interested in coaching me a little bit on Armbian? I typically pay $65/hr. I'd like 1-2 hour sessions 9-11am CST and would like to cover the following: Installing armbian to EMMC on nano pi. Creating a master image and automating installation of it via SD card eflasher type system. Getting ethernet to work on NanoPi Core. Integrating drivers. Thanks Derek

There is a bug (not really a bug...) in the copy process with rsync. Please add the -x option to rsync to copy the root file system to a SATA/USB drive. I have cifs/nfs filesystem from my main (file) server mounted and the installation tries to copy alle the network-drives to the local SATA/USB drive. I was wondering, why the hell the armbian-config says 1020MB to copy (around 3 min.) and after 1 hour it still was running rsync! Yes, it tried to copy hundreds of GB to the local 60GB SATA/USB drive! And... the script removes all extra fstab entries, so all network filesystem mounts are gone! Please, correct this bug!

Hello, I've installed armbian s912 stretch debian desktop 5.75 on my video game console board, Pandora's box X 3d or 7, they're the same. That's run perfectly but i have just one usb port functional and I want tu use an usb hub(4ports) for adding and use my mouse and a Wi-Fi adapter but it doesn't work because only one device work, if I plug 2 devices, that doesn't work much. and lsusb command doesn't show the 4 hub's ports. Thank you.

Hi All, as I just started with armbian on one of my R2s and I would like to share my learnings.... 1. Learning build own Image Why?: One of my requirements is to have DRBD Support which seems not to be part of standard build. At least it was gone with one of the Kernel Updates. So I setup a VM as described here: https://docs.armbian.com/Developer-Guide_Build-Preparation/ to build a Image that supports DRBD. That was really simple. Build took 81min for me... Image Size 864MB Next goals are to bring this image running on the R2 on the eMMC. This worked with armbian-config After moving to eMMC Reboot issue is visible... Adapt hostname, local…

Trying to reach a headless TinkerBoard with X2Go so I can set up wifi. SELinux is disabled. I can SSH in as my user just fine, with and without -i, but when setting the Pyhoca session to "Discover SSH Keys", I get "Not a valid EC private key file!" Ok, apparently it wants an elliptic curve key. It never used to accept anything but DSA and RSA. So I made an ecdsa keypair and ssh-copy-id to the TB. Same failure. I know that X2Go can't handle ed25519 unfortunately, so I don't even have that key for my user. When setting the Pyhoca session SSH key manually to /home/bill/.ssh/id_rsa or /home/bill/.ssh/id_ecdsa, I get, "Not a valid EC private key f…

I installed remot3.it.deb through terminal, when in run the connectd installer, it asks me to log in, when i log in, it says: API call to https://device.remot3.it/api/project/create failed! If i run this on a Pi running Raspbian, it works fine. Any idea? It seems to be an Armbian issue as it works on other Ubuntu images. Thanks, Matthew

I'm trying to get something beyond Android on a Jide Remix Mini. Originally sold as an "Android PC", it's now unsupported by manufacturer. The configuration is not bad: Allwinner A64 SOC and my unit has 2GB of RAM and 16 GB eMMC. Unfortunately, linux-sunxi lists it as (yet) unsupported. I'm not that knowledgeable with image building, so any help would be appreciated.

Hello, I've searched through various threads on here and can find no comprehensive answer on how to disable log2ram completely, forever, and preferably end up with only one /var/log with mainstream logrotate settings. This is for a situation where I'm using an actual hard drive and don't need to worry about destroying flash memory. I suspect it is more involved than just 'systemctl disable log2ram'. Any additional pointers would be very helpful, thank you!

Hi all, I have a OrangePi R1 and want to enable SPI in U-Boot to talk to connected leds. The leds are connected to SPI0 on the pins: 19 (MOSI), 4 (5v) and 6 (GND) . I enabled the CONFIG_SUN4I_SPI flag to enable the sunxi SPI driver. I also added the following lines to `arch/arm/dts/sun8i-h2-plus-orangepi-zero.dts` to enable both SPI0 and SPI1. &spi0 { status = "okay"; flash@0 { compatible = "mxicy,mx25l12805d", "jedec,spi-nor"; }; }; &spi1 { status = "okay"; }; To control the leds I added a call to the following function inside the `board_init()` function inside: `/board/sunxi/board.c`. static int set_leds() { int bus …

I'm trying to compile Qt5 on my system, following this guide, got the "E: You must put some 'source' URIs in your sources.list" message. After some Google, I know you have to enable "Source code" in software-properties-gtk to use "apt build-dep", but I can't check the source code options in there. ps. armbianmonitor -u didn't gave me a URL, it detected some sort of networking problem.

Hi, I just ordered a NEO2 that I intent to use as a Tvheadend backed. Actually will use two at different locations, the problem is with the kernel bug affecting the DVBSky S960 DVB-S2 USB tuner since a kernel commit in 4.10rc1 Luckily, this has been fixed recently, and there is a patch as well. The patch has been submitted for upstream devs LINK And LibreElec also included the patch and will be fixed (finally) in their next beta LINK I wanted to ask if it is possible to include this patch to Armbian kernel (maybe a beta or nightly) in order to make DVBSky S960 work? Many thanks!

Hi, toying around with Odroid C1 kernel compilation and trying new kernels (both 5.0-rc2 and the mainline amlogic kernel) there are some patches that do no apply correctly. Both general-packaging-4.17-next.patch and general-increasing_DMA_block_memory_allocation_to_2048.patch apply correctly if I remove the part of the patch referring arm64 architecture: is this fine? For sure Odroid C1 is a 32-bit SBC.. does anyone knows why there are references for arm64? If you agree I can create a pull request to remove those lines... Thanks **Bye Piero

Hi forum, I want use my R1 board as a switch and if possible to run some services as the same if possible. Now when I look in /etc/network I do see a lot of different .conf files in that folder, but I do not really know how to use or them. Therefore my questions. 1. can I use my board as switch and can I run as the same services. 2. How do I use these config files and how do I interpret the results. Thx,blub4747

Hi, I've some issues regarding apt pinning, which I've used for a year now without problems, after doing a clean install to Armbian_5.70_Tinkerboard_Debian_stretch_next_4.19.14. I've figured out that installing only locales from testing (2.28-4) over (2.24-11+deb9u3) kills armbian-ramlog.service as seen below in spoiler 1, which again seems to cause problems for other packages as Nginx. Spoiler # Status after clean install and installing locales from testing deb ● armbian-ramlog.service - Armbian memory supported logging Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/armbian-ramlog.service; enabled; vendor preset: enabled) Active…

ENG (GTranslator) Hello friends. I have an Orange Pi Zero v1.1 running perfectly with ARMbian 3.4.113 server and I connect via PUTTY SSH Client. I use the OPI to control a PRUSA Steel 3D printer with the Octoprint program and I am very happy with the results. For reasons of mobility and distance, I came up with the idea of being able to compile Marlin Firmware updates through the OPI Zero. I've searched and everything found is meant to use the Arduino IDE in graphical mode with X-Window. But as you know the ARMbian for the IPO Zero lacks a graphical system and everything moves by terminal. Can you help me with this question? Do you know how to do termi…

I just attempted several builds of Build-Armbian, 5.67 bionic 5.0 rc1 with S9xxx board. None of them will boot. It's almost like it's not reading the DTB right. It just sits at the MXQPro logo screen. I've edited to extlinux.conf and the uEnv.ini and even created a dtb.img but it doesn't seem to make a difference. I've used this same dtb with builds produced by balbes150 and it worked fine. I'm a noob, but I'm not just trying to get this running. I plan to contribute to the project if possible. I was a software engineer in a past life. Any hints in the right direction would be much appreciated. For instance, is there a way to see the boot console so I can se…

Hi After doing a clean install to SD card of armbian 5.3 Ubuntu Xenial, I see multiple failures to install packages like Docker and Gitlab via apt-get. In both instances, I follow instructions as per the official pages, but when I try to do the installation, apt-get will report that "E: Package 'docker-ce' has no installation candidate" for example, even though it is present searching in the cache. Am I doing something wrong - perhaps I need another repository source?

Dear armbian experts For a kiosk-like system with a touch screen only, I need a virtual keyboard that pops up on demand and hides again when not needed. I have installed successfully the onboard keyboard package, see https://launchpad.net/onboard. The software has all the desired features and works fine so far. Only auto show / hide does not work, i. e. something seems to be wrong with the communication between onboard and other applications like Firefox etc. I think, onboard needs for that an AT-SPI D-bus / AT-SPI registry installed to send and receive messages. I tried to activate "Applications -> Settings -> Accessi…

I had boards like Asus TinkerBoard or others with AMLogic chips that have the hardware support but lack the software part. Does Armbian have support for some SBCs with "true" video acceleration for linux? (aka vendor is not an asshole that doesn't share the required drivers to use the features it sells?).

Hi, Just something I have found, not sure if this is an 'issue' but it definitely caught me out and took a while to figure out and fix. I have several armbian machines (Odroid C2, BananaPi Pro) all running Jessie or Stretch and all working fine. A recent project of mine (using Armbian on a BPi Pro) was to build a Pi-Hole DNS. Some time after doing that I noticed that none of the Armbian machines would successfully run 'apt update' whilst other unix machines including a RPi running raspbian were all fine. DNS config was fine, I could see requests hit the Pi-Hole and be answered. nslookup / dig on the armbian machines all worked fine b…

For the internal network, the dhclient works just fine. I have already tried using eth0 in systemd's network and outside of it (using dhclient). No communication in both cases. ta, t.

Hi All I cannot seem to find information specific to the Cuibieboard 2 - only reference to BPI running Ubuntu on SATA? Is this still possible? I have been able to do this on my old Cubieboard 2 but with a very old image. I don't know if this is possible with the latest Ubuntu's? If so, please point me to instructions? I have downloaded Armbian 5.3 onto SD card and got one of my Cubie's to boot fine from SD but would prefer either NAND or via SATA (SSD - preferable). I think the way I was able to do this on my old boards was to have the bootloader run from the NAND and then the SSD would take over from there, but…

I have a project with "Orange PI PC PLUS" and a Realtek 8153B usb-ethernet adapter. My big problem is that the adapter lights do not come on, even if the rest is working. I've successfully installed the linux driver from realtek's website, but the light still does not light up. Module r8152 installed and used for the device.

Hi, Now that I have my NanoPC-T4 working with hardware 3D acceleration, 1080p video playback, full development environment on NVMe, Think it's time for a backup. Has anyone found a usefull utility ? Or should I just use dd to dump the eMMC partions to image files on a USB attached drive and rsync to backup the NVMe the the same ? I'd imagine to restore just boot from an install image, don't install, just dd the images to their repective eMMC partitions and rysnc to restore. Has anyone had to restore a board and how well did your solution work for you ?

Hi, 1st - thanks for your wonderful job. I really like using Armbian. I have setup a few small nanopi neo's with spotify / airplay / Bluetooth to play music via Echo-Dots with line in connected speakers. Hi, I am trying to select an OS for C++ development on ARM processors for IoT development and I am thinking about long future. I've been using Debian and Ubuntu on my desktop, so I have to say I am biased on using Debian. (1) armhf debian looks stable, it can support any ARM board as long as it has Linux kernel, but it requires large size in both RAM and Flash like a desktop environment. (2) openwrt is smaller for embedded system, but it does not have pre-build open source library packages like armhf debian does, you have to build open source packages which may or may not be a big deal, in particular, building boost could be a nightmar…
