Armbian Buster on Rock Pi 4 longer has libgfortran3 library. Other versions of Buster do have it. Has it been superseded or just went missing? The ham radio weak signal programs use a lot of fortran modules. Thanks Frank

I found relatively little information concerning AXP209 support on mainline. My targets : - set the battery as 4.35V instead of 4.2V. Datasheet say it's set in REG 33H. Defaut value for register : 0xCX, X being the charge current. if 1200mAh then default value is 0xC9. To change from 4.2 to 4.35V, use EXh (so E9h if you'r using 1200mA) 11001001 to 11101001.) - Remove boot when AC plugged in and boot only when PEK is pressed. Datasheet say it's possible is not clear about how to do it. It may be reg40 bit6. I could not test yet as REG40 strangely reads 0x00 with i2cget. - Set GPIO0 and GPIO1 as ADC. GPIO0 function is REG 90H (see page 40 datasheet). GPIO1…

So using the old sysfs (/sys/class/gpio/) interface, you "export" a gpio by spitting the gpio number into /sys/class/gpio/export. The GPIO number depends on the board and relevant documentation. Having once found that I need GPIO number 76, I'm migrating code to the new "gpio character device" interface (/dev/gpiochipn) on my Rock64. However, "gpioinfo" shows that hardly any gpios have useful labels, and Google searches always turn up Raspberry Pi results. So, can I just calculate the new gpio identify? Old gpio is 76, all /dev/gpiochips have 32 lines, 76/32 = 2 rem 12, so old gpio 76 is now /dev/gpiochip2 line 12? Edit: I tried this…

Hello, I use Banana PI M1 with TFT touchscreen and Jessi Legacy Kernel 3.4.113 sun7i I have to stay with legacy kernel because it supports FEX configuration for TFT display and USB-OTG. (Mainstream Kernel does not seem to support TFT) Unfortunately the display touch changed to GT911 driver IC which seem not to be included in legacy. Can anybody help me to bring the Goodix GT9xx driver working on this system? I found following links of this driver but don't know how to compile and install it. http://linux-sunxi.org/Touchscreen#GT9xx https://github.com/reinforce/gt9xx https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvald…

Is anyone know how to set HDMI and LCD simultaneously on mainline kernel? We use a 3.5" LCD for which we made a patch (see enclosed). Now I'd like to have both HDMI and LCD showing the same framebuffer. Currently HDMI is only showing the console while signal is OK on LCD. Any hint would be appreciated. u-boot-sunxi-next.patch kernel-sunxi-next.patch

There are updates in the most recent mainline kernel about the Odroid C0/C1/C1+ board: https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/log/?h=v4.20&qt=grep&q=odroid The armbian image with the mainline kernel have not been updated. Could you please update it? I would like to use it. You can officially drop the outdated version with the kernel 3.10. The Kernel 3.10 is not supported any more and have ton of security issues that wont get fixed. Only the mainline kernel is interesting and worth upgrading to latest kernel. Thanks

I'm bringing up a custom Allwinner H3 board with Armbian. I created the required conf, u-boot and kernel patches and built the image. Rock64. Running mosquitto. Running my python script for home automation, measures temps, does a bit of control and uses an SIM900 for SMS outside access with no IP address issues. I've run this for ages with an Rpi doing mosquitto and an ESP8266 doing the SMS part. I tried using the RPi for everything but it can't keep up with the 19200b SIM900. The Rock64 does it beautifully. So, all works beautifully but for pulsing the SIM900 to power it up. I have R64.GPIO which works only if I sudo into idle or python. Otherwise I get the dreaded "cannot export GPIO". So close, so far. My eyes and the lcd are dim from searching for an answer. Tryin…

Hey guys, Using a A20 board with AXP209, using mainline, I am trying to add a battery indicator as an overlay on video signal so that user can see remaining battery %. Something similar to smartphone battery indicator. Any idea how to do this? This shows how to get battery % but how to add an overlay? This sounds like something that probably have already been done. Do you know any existing reference ?

I'm getting some strange behavior with the new image when trying to enable OMV on my T4. Its always installed no problem, but now when I try to do a clean install Im getting the below info. Although after reboot the box is checked in softy to suggest OMV has installed ok, I haven't gone far enough in configuration to see if anything isn't working. Can anyone tell if Im doing something wrong? I am looking to build a stable applicance that is updateable on demand / over-the-air in an atomic way. Ideally, it uses a dual-partition setup, where the is an active rootfs and an inactive one. On update, a new rootfs is streamed directly to the inactive partition, the device reboots to the new rootfs and - if everything runs according to plan - the new rootfs is committed as the new active one. If the reboot fails, the device reverts to the previous (still active) rootfs. This functionality is very common with embedded devices, many using the Yocto project. I'd like to try to use Armbian, however, building the image from source with my own userpatches and i…

This is likely a stupid question but I couldn't find anything about it. I have a NanoPi Neo2 v1.1 1GB where I flashed nanopi-neo2_sd_friendlycore-xenial_4.14_arm64. Hi everyone, I have a Helios4 NAS on which I have installed Armbian 5.85. I used the Armbian-Config to install OMV 4.1.23-1 (Arrakis). I used OMV to configure some CMB/CIFS shares which were working properly. I connected to my server via SSH, and performed an apt update/upgrade, and I think this broke my SMB shares. According to my Googling, Debian now uses smbd instead of samba. When I try to access my shares at \\192.168.1.x I get a message that says "The specified network name is no longer available." When I run sudo service smbd status, I get the following: ● smbd.service - Samba SMB Daemon Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/smbd.service; enabled; vendor p…

Hi all, I am trying to use a MCP3426 I2C ADC chip with my NanoPi Duo2. I have compiled a custom kernel with the mcp3426 driver in it, but I can't get it to load. The problem seems to be that the chip uses address 0x68 which is the same address that the commonly used DS1307 RTC chip uses. I have blacklisted the ds1307 module which has stopped that module from loading, but somehow '/sys/bus/i2c/devices/0-0068/name' still claims to be a ds1307. 'echo mcp3426 0x68 > /sys/class/i2c-dev/i2c-0/device/new_device' results in a "Invalid argument error" with 'i2c i2c-0: Failed to register i2c client mcp3426 at 0x68 (-16)' being logged in dmesg, and apparently the -16…

Hello all, My team and I are trying to use the ASUS Tinkerboard S (running Armbian Bionic v4.19.7, i.e. ubuntu bionic 18.04) as a platform to host a webapp, with a touchscreen as the user interface. We've successfully set up the Tinkerboard S to open chromium-browser in kiosk mode on startup using systemd, and a script that launches `chromium-browser --kiosk --app=server_url`. Our next step is to customize the boot process with the following changes: - none (or as few as possible) lines of text while the services are starting up - include a splash screen with our company logo, if possible Any advice on how to acc…

Hello! I am new to Armbian, so I need a little help and advice here. Until now, I've been using a Banana Pi M1 with Bananian on it, and running NextCloud as my personal cloud server. Unfortunately, Bananian is dead, so there won't be any updated PHP version ( < 5.6), which are needed for recent NextCloud Version: NC 14 requires PHP 7, but Bananian (Debian 8.11) is stuck at PHP 5.6. Soo sad... That's why I need to switch to Armbian, and as far as I know, this project has no sword named "EOL" hovering above its head — at least not yet. ;) My questions are these: - Which version of Armbian would you recommend running NextClo…

After some frustration with poor support for Banana Pi M2 Zero board by the manufacturer and not a very active community on Banana Pi forums, I stumbled upon Armbian and found out there's a CSC for building Armbian for this board. And because I'm having issues with wifi on the images found on Banana forums, with all images being old and based on kernel 3.4 -- wifi disconnects with some weird firmware errors in dmesg after about 3 minutes of running, requiring reboot to get back up again -- I was happy to read Armbian runs fine on BPI-M2Z for some folks here. So I did the build process, twice, so that I have two images to test, one with kernel 4.19 and one with 5.1, b…

I'm on a Rockpro64 rev2.1 and wanted to use the maximum of the availiable Power of this SoC, so i tried using cpufrequtils and the amrbian config for doing so and noticed two things: I can only set one of my CPU's frequencies and the maximum is 1800 MHz, so i searched this forum for a while and found out how to show the device tree table which is currently loaded(dtc -I fs /sys/firmware/devicetree/base/) and there is one unused mode for both of my CPUs, a 1992 MHz mode for the big chip and a 1512 MHz mode for the small chip, and at this point im stuck. What could i do to load this modes in the cpufrequtils or the armbian config? Spoiler dt…

Hello I am running a NanoPi M4 (kernel 4.4) with /boot on SD and / on an USB-attached disk. At the time I ran `nand-sata-install` ext4 seemed like a good choice. I want to snapshot the file system as a preparation step to backing up, so it looks like I have 2 choices now: 1. ext4 on LVM 2. btrfs -> Will 1. work with u-boot/armbian at all? Which solution is recommended? My guess is that btrfs would be the easiest, so the next question is -> can I go and a) `btrfs-convert /` b) update rootfs in armbianEnv.txt, or is there any other step involved? Regards -Patrick

Hi I was trying to setup my RK3328 based A5X Max tv box running armbian ( a fairly recent version 4.4.154 based) as an access point. Yesterday I tried the armbian-config option, and it downloaded/setup things and the access point worked. Because I only need it as an access point sometimes, I went back through armbian-config and turned it off. Today I tried to go through armbian-config and start an access point again, and I see the access point option has disappeared from Networking in armbian-config. !!! Has something changed recently? I might have done a update/upgrade in between. Or does armbian-config just set it up, …

Hi, Now that I have my NanoPC-T4 working with hardware 3D acceleration, 1080p video playback, full development environment on NVMe, Think it's time for a backup. Has anyone found a usefull utility ? Or should I just use dd to dump the eMMC partions to image files on a USB attached drive and rsync to backup the NVMe the the same ? I'd imagine to restore just boot from an install image, don't install, just dd the images to their repective eMMC partitions and rysnc to restore. Has anyone had to restore a board and how well did your solution work for you ?

Hey guys, What is in your opinion the best solution to add WIFI/BT capability to a A20 board? Currently I tried to add ESP8266 connected with SDIO. (without much success so far). Then in order to add BT too I am thinking about ESP32 (with ESP-WROOM-32 module). Do you know if there are references of using this ESP32 solution to provide wifi and bt to a allwinner board/armbian ? Also this module have a lot of different interfaces available, which should be prefered? Or alternatively, do you know other armbian supported solution for wifi/bt? Best would be a solution that does not use USB ports as I need them. …

Hi All, just discovered this great project. Awesome to see it's so well frequented. I'm trying to do some realtime data acquisition on a OPi one with Armbian Debian Stretch. I'm using the irq_set_affinity_hint in the following manner, but it has no effec…

Hello Does anyone know how to toggle GPIO output at boot / power up as an overlay or similar? I have seen only examples that show GPIO in function and I didnt find much information how to toggle GPIO out function. Basically I would like to be able to turn LCD back light on when the board is booting and than to be able to control the brightness. (That I can do after the Linux is up and running) but before the Linux is up I still want to be able to control the LCD back light. Can anyone help with that matter?

Hi, I upgraded 4.13.16-sunxi to 4.19.47 Seems all went fine. but after reboot the former 4.13.16 kernel is still active. My cubietruck runs sd-card+ssd with system moved to ssd by armbian-config. Maybe the issue has to do with the sd-card/ssd booting sequence? If I have the sd-card/ssd system up and running, will the sd-card be touched with later kernel upgrades too, or just the root system at ssd? Holger armbianmonitor: http://ix.io/1Lit

Hi, I run a cubietruck appliance, booting by sd-card->sata (stretch). For availability reasons, I have to build up a spare part machine for quick exchange procedure if hardware/ software will crash. Thus I take a second cubietruck and copy both sd-card and ssd to second ones as a first step. How to tweak the copies to get it up and running? I am not sure about understanding the boot procedure. I assume, I have to change the UUID´s in /boot/armbianEnv.txt and in fstab to the second ssd/sda1. I tried this in the past, but didn´t succeed. Now I want to give it another try. Could someone give advice, if I am right with the UUID issue …

Hello to all, I've followed this thread to compile the new u-boot and kernel: The only difference during the instructions was that I've had to enable the 'EXPERT="yes"' mode to access BananaPiPro. Hi evereyone, After doing some upgrades my Pi-hole Admin Page was not reachable anymore, while blocking still worked. 1. Problem The lighttpd service was not running because of the missing folder /var/log/lighttpd. So lighttpd crashes when trying to access /var/log/lighttpd/error.log and access.log. Reinstalling Pi-hole and lighttpd didnt solve the problem. So I first created the folder myself: sudo mkdir /var/log/lighttpd sudo chown -R www-data: www-data /var/log/lighttpd Then I reinstalled Pi-hole and lighttpd, now lighttpd was running. Unfortunatly now I ran into 403 - Forbidden when accessing…

Thanks for work on armbian! I've got nanopim4 recently, stable build worked like a charm out of the box (maybe w/o bluetooth) I digged into all build scripts, tried out the dev and even got a step forward. I'm actually ready to support further development with this board See my reports, attempts and links here: https://gist.github.com/razum2um/8e2bfbcffdcdb3a832a4862339330867 Would be glad if @Igor , @chwe or someone else helps with the wifi question there p.s. sorry for posting here, but I'm unable to post into `development` forum section for rk3399

Hi, I've read this post but it's two years old. What I need is a SBC (in order to save some energy costs, otherwise have to go to x86) that could be used as a small SOHO firewall and router and also small file and backup server. I'd need gigabit ethernet (preferably with dedicated controller), at least one, could buy a dongle to have another port. A SATA interface would be nice, otherwise USB 3 is needed. Probably at least two USB 3, one for the ethernet dongle, another for the SATA disk. UASP support would be great. The lower the cost and the more stable the best. What do you recommend?

Dear Armbian community I am currently porting some project from Debian/amd64 to Armbian (Debian GNU/Linux7 Wheezy) with shell and python and its impressive ! I though noticed strange behaviour on some command execution via variable and will here focus on a simple date sync example : 1. nc command : from shell or from script : nc time.nist.gov 13 revert a typical 46 char long ASCII answer. via a variable, a=$(nc time.nist.gov 13) ; $a delivers the same time server answer followed by the list of dir & files in the current dir, space separated. explicit error : $a | hexdump -v -C 2. date command from the shell or from script : …

Hello forumees. I am running as root on an OrangePI Zero+ which uses a H2 processor running a CL version of arrmbian 3.4.113 which works fine. I have recently obtained a SimCom SIM7600CE GSM/GPS module which has only a USB interface. I tracked down drivers for it but the Linux version must be compiled to a module which I have managed (with a number of warnings) after a couple of hiccups. Now trying to install the compiled module is resulting in error messages. I think the problem is compatability with armbian which is beyond my expertise, so I am asking for help. Below is the CL dialog of my attempts to install the module. ```````````````` root@gpsC…

Hello - I have attempted an install of Armbian Stetch on a Pinebook (non HD) with the latest image from https://www.armbian.com/pinebook-a64/. I can power on the pinebook and can SSH in, and have successfully installed to the internal emmc, however the screen does not come on. This pinebook readily works with other OS images I've attempted. I suspect I'm just missing something somewhat obvious, but I can't find reference to this issue elsewhere - how do I enable access via the screen/keyboard on the device itself? Thanks!

I use Neo4 for media streaming using plex or minidlna. At first I don't know the problem but the movies played from it is lagging. My previous banana pi is better than this. Hello guys, I'm new to SBCs in general and would like to start tinkering around a bit. But am not able to find a central resource with reviews and such. Atleast 1 GB RAM (pref 2 GB) 3. Wifi on board (or are wifi dongles a better option?) 4. 1080p out by hdmi.. Preferably 4k.. I read enough to understand that manufacturers other than Raspberry are not great with OS support or optimisation.. So I am looking for something t…

Hi, After upgrade from xenial to bionic we found a problem with R1 internal WIFI. First connection to any wireless network with nmtui works wihout problem. But after that if we try to switch to another wireless network it fails. It doesn't even reconnect to the first network ever. Have you experienced the same problem ever ? What is wrong with the internal wifi ? It was working good in xenial. I blacklisted the internal driver and using external wifi adapter for now. Hi, Following advice regarding the Ubunto 18.04 issue where RDP throws you back to the login window if an account is already logged into the console, I'd like to disable autologon to the GUI on my Armbian_5.75_Orangepilite_Ubuntu_bionic_next_4.19.20 installation. I've looked up a couple of similar questions on this issue on the forum already but I think the others describe disabling the GUI altogether, which I don't want to do. Is it just a case of setting the variable NODM_USER in /etc/default/nodm to equal nothing or 0 or something else? Thanks!

Didn't see anything from a search of the forums, so ... on a Rock64 with Armbian, I have compiled the 8723bu driver since it is missing. However, when this driver is loaded, only 2G wifi APs are visible. I am trying to connect to a 5G wifi AP. Other devices do not have a problem connecting to this AP. The Armbian install just can't seem to see it. I see the usb wifi in iw and in iwconfig. I'm just not sure how to get the usb wifi to connect to 5G when only 2G wifi APs show up. I've tried the usb wifi in all three different USB ports, and in all cases it still can't see 5G wifi, only 2G. Is there some config file or manual command that I can issue that w…

Sorry if this in the wrong spot. Hello all, I'm using Armbian 5.73 stable (Ubuntu 16.04.5 LTS) for a year or so on an OrangePi Zero. That little box is working as a backup box and network-wise DNS server via DNSMasq (ver. 2.75-1ubuntu0.16.04.5). The OS and general system is working very stable, but I'm having issues with DNSMasq. It's solving both local systems' names via /etc/hosts and internet hostnames for the whole network. Sometimes, DNSMasq stops solving external addresses. There'll be no error and warning messages anywhere, and when pinged with kill -USR1 signal, it happily prints the current stats. I'm running with a cache size of 6148, and I see no cache overflows in the…

Hi, Do I have to create a Default Custom Command line under Preferences/Advanced in Xarchiver to allow zip files to be extracted with SU level access or is there a way within the desktop GUI to launch Xarchiver with SU level access? I want to extract a .NET binary archive to /user/local/bin, which needs SU write access. I realise I could use the command line for this but I like working with the desktop GUI. Thanks

Apologies for this noob question but I am still new to Ubunto. If a piece of software is currently available as a binary archive only and the accompanying installation advises unzipping it to "a folder" and running the software from this place I presume this is not really advisable, as would be the same in the Windows world. In which case, should I install the software in, say, /usr/share and run it from there or is it okay to just unzip it and run it out of the /home/[username]/ directory? Thanks!

Update: update to the latest kernel (5.1.3) and now I see in in dmesg: Unsupported interface mode: rgmii-txid. Tried this solution: but it doesn't work. Thanks, Rene
